New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has appointed Cea Weaver as the Director of the City Office to Protect Tenants. Presumably, a position intended to stand behind the rights of housing tenants against the property owner. However, Ms. Weaver has some remarkable views on private property and home ownership.
In this video clip below you will notice Ms. Weaver outline how homeowners will need to modify their view on their property ownership to reflect a new municipal perspective that considers all individually owned property to be part of a new collective property viewpoint as controlled by city government.

“For centuries we really treated property as an individualized good and not a collective good, in transitioning into treating it as a collective good and towards the model of shared equity … it will mean that families, especially White families … are going to have a different relationship to property than the one that we currently have.”
It is likely that Mayor Mamdani and Director Weaver are going to run into some stiff legal opposition as they try to reimagine a world where individuals are not allowed to own property.
NEW YORK – Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s newly appointed tenant advocate called to “seize private property” and blasted home ownership as a “weapon of white supremacy” in a series of pro-communist social media posts.
Cea Weaver, Mamdani’s new director of the city Office to Protect Tenants, made the statements and urged her followers to elect more communists in several lecturing posts on her now-deleted X account that were unearthed by internet sleuths.
“Seize private property!” she said on June 13, 2018. She later doubled down on that in a mini-manifesto on August 2019.
“Private property including any kind of ESPECIALLY homeownership is a weapon of white supremacy,” she said then.
Weaver, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America and former campaign coordinator for Housing Justice For All, also served as an adviser to the Mamdani campaign in 2025.
The Post featured her as part of a group of young lefty progressives in Mamdani’s brain trust.
She was a key player in lobbying the Democratic-run state Legislature to tighten the city’s rent stabilization laws in 2019, making them more pro-tenant.

Voting in the midterm elections this year is not optional.
We cannot permit the communist ideology to permeate our nation, erode fundamental rights that establish liberty, destroy individual rights in favor of collective rights, or maintain ideas that mobs of left-wing assemblies should determine your free and independent life choices.
This is not an ordinary election cycle, where debating whether or not your granular special interest is being dutifully attended holds merit. You are greatly overestimating this particular group. These people have spent a great deal of time reciting the Marxist playbook and living in their Marxist fantasy world. These people are mainly 30-somethings with almost zero real world experience or even job experience at any level. But now it’s Go time for them to actually implement socialism in New York City.
There are going to be some real-world problems with that, including the fact that everything they propose violates both the Federal and NY State Constitutions, and numerous Federal, New York State and New York City statutes. And because of that, these people are about to run into a buzzsaw of New York real estate attorneys that are going to kick them into high orbit.
Anyone with any familiarity with the New York City real estate market knows that NYC Landlords, NYC real estate investors and developers and NYC real estate attorneys are FIERCE and thoroughly CUT-THROAT. Our illustrious President knows about this better than practically anyone. These are extremely powerful, influential people (they own their own judges) who have been doing this for decades, and in many cases for generations.
These children that now occupy City Hall, setting up their little socialist Mickey Mouse club, stand NO CHANCE against these people. They will be ripped to pieces.

Canada already does this. In Canada an individual does not OWN the property. The Crown owns the property and the resident may have paid for it, developed it and holds a title, but it is more along the lines of a Freehold than that of “personal property.”

Having lived in Romania for a spell and listening to the stories those folks told about life under the boot of communism, I can’t imagine any sane person wanting to live under communist rule. But that’s just me.
Had the pleasure of knowing some people who fled from East Germany and from Hungary as the communists were taking over. Escaped with the clothing on their backs, and what few trinkets of worth they could hide in their clothing. The stories they could tell. But words were few, and only in the right frame of mind, as even decades later the physical and emotional scars were still deep. Words did flow freely however, when voicing their opinion about any communist leanings springing up in this country.
One of the reasons for such a growth of tho ideology is the vast increase in the disparity between workers, students coming out of schools, and the CEOs of companies. This disparity should have never been allowed to happen. 50-60 years ago such CEOs made maybe 4x or 6x the avg of the company while now it’s closer to 200x…
Many of these CEOs treat public companies as if it’s their own (speaking from first hand knowledge) including nepotism, giving themselves huge perks…
Communism didn’t just sneak into America just like that. It was given reason(s) for it to fester.

Are any property owners actually staying in NYC? If people have not sold already or have their property up for sale, soon they will not be able to sell without taking a tremendous loss. Who would want to buy property in NYC at this point? NYC is now a train reeling off the cliff. Soon it is likely to be a government slum-lord ghetto no-man’s land, rivaling Havana. Not an accident. IMO it is the goal of the Enemy Within to destroy America one city at a time.
