Traditionally, it’s called “the people’s house” because the House of Representatives is supposed to represent and reflect the people to whom the congressional members represent.
Republicans in the House threatened to withhold votes if Speaker Mike Johnson did not pass an enhanced House Member Security Funding Bill that includes a payment of $25,000/month per lawmaker to hire their own private security. This is in addition to the pre-existing security packages the House members receive.
The monthly funds would be designated for use hiring private security when the representatives are not in Washington DC. It is the republican wing pushing this demand.
WASHINGTON DC – Speaker Mike Johnson huddled Thursday afternoon with House Republicans who are threatening to oppose a GOP-led government funding bill Friday morning if leadership doesn’t add more member security dollars to the underlying measure.
During the closed-door meeting, Johnson told the group there could be additional money for that purpose included in the separate legislative branch spending bill, which funds the operations of Congress and is in the midst of bipartisan, bicameral negotiations, according to four Republicans who were in the room. Let me ask a question…..
What incentive exists to make sure American society is safe from domestic regional violence, if the representatives of the regions don’t ever have to concern themselves with such matters?
.

You’re not getting a dime.
Well said.
Just another scam to employ friends and or the children of friends?
My first thought exactly.
Or… just use the slush fund to cover it. You know, the “license to steal” fund.
Slush fund, Johnson’s got $30M in next year’s budget for security for all 535 members, including Omar and AOC.
And Johnson wants a short-term CR, so they can finish their ‘regular order’ budget for the next fiscal year which starts Oct 1st.
He didn’t say how long short-term is, probably 90 days; and CR’s are not ‘regular order’ business, Johnson is a lying RINO.
John-Y
If I make a small correction: the 535 number would include members of the Senate (100); the number of House reps is 435.
Disgusting.
Hey Reps…
Wanna feel safe?
Make America Safe Again….
Suffer with the rest of us….
SCREW YOU!
Bingo!
Disgusting. These Reps are 50% responsible for the violence in this country. How dare they as for more from we the people.
One wonder’s why they didn’t make this request after some Democrat shot up a ballfield a few years ago….
I think we all know why….
How dare they ASK for more from we the people.
Charlie Kirk had private security. How well did that work out?
Pass a concealed carry reciprocity bill and then start carrying everywhere you go. That’s what the rest of us do for personal security.
What are they afraid of?? They don’t stand for anything!
They are afraid of a unified electorate that has had enough of their games, seeking accountability.
First things first. They need to experience paralyzing fear of the ballot box long before anyone would even remotely consider the cartridge box.
They will not fear the ballot box while the Uniparty controls many outcomes of elections. Neither branch of the Uniparty are remotely interested in securing the ballot box. Securing the ballot box will necessarily be done in spite of any and all of their obstructions.
NO! HELL NO!
They should have to live in the same world that we do.
They already have too many exemptions from the day to day realities that the rest of us face.
They exempted themselves from the jab too!
That was another big clue that it was crap.
Send Soros the bill.
Hell no, they have to figure it out and use their personal funds.
Retired Magistrate here: With all the kickbacks the “representatives” receive they can afford to hire their own security and pay for it. Please notice I use the term “representatives” loosely because the only ones they represent are themselves.
If they were true representatives they would take their chances like the rest of us.
This is certainly not what our founders intended. Many of them lost everything, including their lives, because they believed in a representative republic. I am not sure what we have now, but it certainly is not a representative republic.
“…the only ones they represent are themselves.”
One correction, Ma’am, if you’ll permit: they represent their donors, especially Pharma, very well, also.
Protecting their paycheck is a form of representing themselves.
250 of them are vacationing in Israel right now over some dumb bill that says you can’t boycott Israel. They’re all beholden to Israel first above all else.
Nice to see an honorable Magistrate on the same page as the working stiffs out here. If my question is off base please disregard. The last 10 years we’ve seen the legal system become completely political criminals being allowed to walk any person who is on the right leaning have the book thrown at them. Those who commit crime dont care about laws just opportunity. The right leaning do follow the laws. What happened to our legal system? The Bar seems completely useless. IDK do we have a chance to returning to a nation where the rule of law applies to everyone? Thank you and God Bless.
Retired Magistrate here: Well, I was a working stiff. Before I became a Magistrate, I was a legal secretary, then a police officer, then put my self through college, then put myself through law school (going to night law school and working during the day as a legal secretary again and then as an investigator). After law school I passed the bar which at that time, 1985, required a 3 day written exam. By the grace of GOD I managed to pass on the first try.
Then went to the Ohio Department of Insurance where I started their Fraud Division, after that started a Fraud Division for a health insurance company, then had my own law practice (I was the head of it; of course I was also the secretary, receptionist, para legal, etc. well you get the idea) and then finally a Magistrate.
Our legal system has been high jacked by judges who make law from the bench. It is extremely difficult to get a judge sanctioned let alone kicked off the bench. Same thing for attorneys, tough to get them disbarred.
Our system, as wonderful as our founders put it together, only works when the people who are at the helm are of good moral character and actually believe they were elected to serve the people. Originally individuals who ran for office didn’t make a career out of it; they did their job and then went home back to what they were doing before. They didn’t serve for the money; they did it for a love of country and to uphold the Constitution.
Unfortunately, we live in a fallen world so greed took over and look where we are now. The only thing that can change the United States of America and return us to the founding principles of our Constitution is if the people of the United States return to GOD and really believe that we are one nation under GOD.

Thank You ! 💐
Well said
BRAVO!
Marcia, I think we have a representative republic more than ever before. The moral degradation of the people is truly represented by those strolling the halls of power selling their souls to the higher bidder. The prove is in how easily they are re-elected when the time comes.
Yes. Israel and the corps are represented. Thats the problem.
🙌 🙌 🙌
If they need this money it shows that the country has a very serious crime problem. Why should they have private security when the public cannot afford this? Solve the problem by massively reducing crime and make special provisions only in cases where there is an unusual personal threat.
These people have no shame and no honor. They do not deserve a single thing from us – the nerve to even ask.
I saw this the other day or yesterday but nowhere do we see Names. I want to know This is ridiculous
Great point Sundance !
Why would Republicans be needing security more than Democrats? Why don’t the Repubs ask their “good friends across the aisle” to not incite their constituents to kill conservatives.
That’s part of the problem, “asking”. Please antifa, don’t burn block and destroy. Please highly diverse community that is strong, don’t riot and loot and destroy police cars. Please democrat leftist communist anti capitalist blue haired freak Karens, don’t surround us screaming like mommy just took away your little pussy hat.
That’s like asking Sundance to stop with all the highly detailed information no one else provides.
Why don’t they ask Paul Pelosi for loans.
Balance the budget!!!
No more deficit spending!!!
Ah yes, now they need a Praetorian Guard. The grift continues!
“When government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.”
I’m afraid that the person who said that (Franklyn?) didn’t account for when both sides fear each other.
If you mean that both wings of the Uniparty fear each other, not yet.
But maybe those on the R side are getting a clearer idea of just how horribly demon-ridden the other side of the aisle is.
You cannot make a fair deal with Satan, or his minions.
When government fears the people, there is money to be made!! Why do they think this will help the people who will be taxed to “protect” them? This will make them even madder. I truly do not understand why they continue to blame Americans for their fear!
I am sure fiscal hawk Thomas Massie is vehemently opposed to this waste of taxpayer dollars /sarc. Congress voting itself a huge pay raise is all it is.
No.
Not only that but you should take the national minimum wage, a 35 hour work week cap as payment for your jobs. Put all investments in a blind trust. Sign nda’s regarding proprietary information. Have financial disclosures file by your extended family.
Pay for own travel, food, lodging. No housing allowance.
Make it worse than jury duty on a capital case.
Ngo and Lobbying illegal.
Based on what we see in the actions of most politicians, they should not need protection from the monsters they represent and kowtow to. Their constituents are the least of their concerns in more ways than one.
This is yet another money grab.
$25000.00 x 12 =$300,000.00 x 435 =$130,500,000.00. No deal. Tell them to take it out of their bribes and kickbacks.
Actually there are 535 Law Makers in Congress when the senate is added …. that makes it $160,500,000 or an actual cool $200 Million PER YEAR, when all the administrative overhead is added.
That’s about 4 Trillion a month to provide $ 25k additional security for American adults. Higher if you want to cover everyone.
But think of the job creation this would bring!
Or … the same amount in cash paid to every American to be spent on a personal defense firearm of their choice, 2,000 rounds of ammunition, holster, all the course work and range time necessary to obtain a concealed carry permit, unlimited range time going forward to keep skills honed to a razor’s edge, as well as a federal law requiring universal nationwide recognition of all concealed carry permits regardless of the state issued, and NO location exceptions permitted by local governments or property owners.
A traincar full of concealed carry holders unloading on the POS that killed that girl might have a chilling effect on the criminals, or at the very least stop that one from ever again harming anyone. Go ahead. TRY to jack my car. Once I see your gun I’ll drop you before you get my door open.

A Sig Sauer P320 M17/M18 was good enough for our servicemen, it should be good enough for a Congressman. They can purchase something different if they desire so on their own dime.
As of FL recently coming into the fold a short while ago, there are ony 3 states left that do not have open carry.
Why should we pay for ALL their security!! That’s a ridiculous amount of money!! Nancy Pelosi and that 🐷 Omar have all made millions and millions of bux with inside trading and sick billionaires that support their sick agendas!! They should arm themselves and stop being childish cowards.
Like most of us!! I resent this! They already are protected in the “PEOPLES” House!!
What more do they need? CHICKENS!!
Bok Bok Bok!
Screw the GOP.!….they are the more evil half of the Uniparty.
That’s why they’re assigned the task of keeping us Conservative voters in line.
They’re our abusive lying spouses. They beat us regularly. And our response is….”at least they’re better than Team D”.
Blackmail their own party? Skankz. What’s this country coming to? Never mind.
We want names or we will withhold our votes for the lot!
Term limits. Serve one and go home. Cost to us. Zero. Safest scenario for them and us.
”They’re eating the pets! They’re eating the cats, and the dogs!” Why yes, they are.
The Hmong, even to this day, are more than twice as likely to be on welfare (28%), compared to other Asians (12%). An abject failure to assimilate.
On the plus side, still clinging to their vibrant culinary customs, as this chick shows.
She’s not on welfare, thanks to her government “job”. But you can bet her constituents are.
She is on welfare, in a sense.
My sister in Minneapolis manages a guy that got really drunk in April and left a threatening voicemail message for MTG. . Last week he pled guilty to the charge of threatening to murder a member of Congress, sentencing in the next 60 days. I’m thrilled these threats are being taken seriously !
These folks should pay for their own security through campaign donations not tax dollars. And maybe carry a gun like we are forced to do.
Who are these idiots?
We need to melt their phones in DC down.
As a taxpayer, I’m ok with buying them a gun and all the ammo they need for their personal use and they can carry wherever they go. That’s more than they have earned.
Darn bit cheaper than $300,000 per year.
That is up in the hire your family member levels of graft.
How about a law that gives Congress concealed carry rights all over the country?
Just a short step from that to what we want.
They are too lazy to practice gun safety or proficency.
Well, I guess that’s their choice.
If they aren’t adult enough to look out for their own welfare, then why should we?
Rules for thee, but not for me.
They want to send our young to wars but not themselves. We have accepted this but I reject it. I am a wartime veteran and actually believed what I was told about keeping America safe by attacking other countries.
We have for a very long time allowed this degradation at home. We want to live in a high trust society but the left creates a low to zero trust society. They require that we depend on them for security.
We can’t think that way any longer.
We make America safe again, not just Congress.
Take that proposal and spend that money on fighting the causes of the problem not the results of the problem.
Well said.
How much more of our money do they need? And we are supposed to give up our guns to protect ourselves, but they want additional security paid for by use. Does it ever stop???
OOOPS, meant paid for by Us!!! Sorry.
Under the category of alternate scenarios:
What if Tyler Robinson had been struck dead by lightning 2 weeks ago and Charlie was still alive and well. And some years from now, after turning TPUSA over to his wife, he decided to run for the House or the Senate, would everyone here still feel the same on this matter?
Don’t you think Charlie would like tax2much’s suggestion?
A gun and ammo for protection?
based on your response on page 1 also, you come up with far fetched scenarios.
“Under the category of alternate scenarios:” Well Charlie was paying for his own security, now do play some where else.
But Tyler wasn’t struck dead. Please don’t make excuses for these greedy traitors. We get enough excuses from them already.
BINGO!!!!!
Gold-plated health care for me, not for thee.
Gold-plated pension for me, not for thee.
Gold-plated security for me, not for thee.
Let their lobbyists pick up the tab.
HOLY CRAP Sundance has a way with words.
I was ready to say “yeah… I understand it… I definitely do…”
Then the question: “Shouldn’t our representatives be more concerned about local issues which will help both the constituents AND themselves?”
That absolutely crystalizes a clear and correct view. That is amazing and awesome. Obviously not a direct quote. Its the meaning I choose to take from it. Another way, which I will discard is “why do congress people vote to send people to wars they will never fight?” That’s not a correct question.
Let them use their own money.
The capital police extensions that Democrats sent outside DC in 2021-2024 are not focused on protecting Republican lawmakers.
🎯
Has anyone read the book, How to launder money?
I will wait for the movie
None of their sorry a$$es are worth going to prison over !!
“The monthly funds would be designated for use hiring private security when the representatives are not in Washington DC.”
$25K sounds a little steep to cover those few weeks they’re at home during the Christmas Holiday………….
I think maybe it’s time to ask for their resignations! If these folks are so scared of their own shadows they should all retire. We need people in Washington that will stand up and represent “we the people”.
Why should we pay to protect them, when they fail to protect us every single day, physically, economically and Constitutionally?
Let’s ask the J6ers what they think.
What –
The police* aren’t enough?
.
.
.
*_ The police force in any given area. Like, what WE have to work with.
My email to my representative:
Dear Congresswoman Fischbach:
Earlier today I read in TheConservativeTreehouse that the Uniparty is demanding from Speaker Johnson more money for private security details.
I want you to fight against that.
You, and everyone else in Congress, can live with the same threats and fears all Americans now do.
Start working to Make America Safe Again.
Respectfully,
Arminius
Fischbach, being a RINO, hasn’t much to fear from democrats, it’s the grass roots republicans she is afraid of.
A little in the weeds local info.

If I were speaker Johnson I would tell all these people that if they find $25,000 a month to cut from their districts, they can use it to beef up security.
You can’t hate these people enough!
These ahat congresscritters vote themselves a raise, way above cost-of-living percentages, every year. They can afford their own security detail. Furthermore, change their salary to private donations only. Let their lobbyists pay their expenses. They are owned by them anyway!
Hire boyscouts; they need credit towards archery and rifle drilling …
Maybe the president could call in their respective national guards to help them out?
