That my friends, is the reason why so many people get lost in the story of the 2016 election and the eventual Trump-Russia conspiracy. However, once you understand what changed in those April and May 2016 moments, everything reconciles.
The U.S. government, under the President Obama administration, was spying on American citizens.
It started with Barack Obama and AG Eric Holder’s use of the IRS database in the 2010 midterm, against the primary threat of the Tea Party movement. However, an IRS whistleblower from the Cincinnati field office took the continued use of the IRS off the table.
From the period of mid-2012 to April-2016, the administration factually and demonstrably shifted to using the power of electronic surveillance to conduct political spying operations using the NSA database and the metadata captures within it.
However, once that NSA surveillance and spying was identified in April 2016, President Obama had a problem. That’s where the Obama alignment with the Clinton ‘dirty trick’ comes into play. After May 2016, Obama needed Hillary Clinton to win the election. The rest is “Russiagate” history.
Those who remember the 2015/2016 presidential race will remember President Obama never campaigned for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 primary. After all, Bernie Sanders was potentially going to upend Clinton until the DNC stepped heavily on the scales to assist her, and team Sanders was furious. Then suddenly, following the California primary, Barack went all in.
There is a distinct timeline shift during this period that most seem to overlook, because “Russiagate” was/is easily the shiniest thing for people to follow. However, it was the precursor scandal, ‘spygate’, that is more critical yet gets almost no attention.
Here it becomes critical for people to understand exactly what was taking place. Absolutely nothing had anything to do with: the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, aka FISA – surveillance impacting Americans (FISA-702), the FISA Court, masking, minimizing or unmasking. None of those terms apply. What the Obama administration was doing was simply spying.
The only reason the aforementioned terms enter the discussion is through the method used by the NSA compliance officer to reveal the nature of how the database was being compromised. The only tool for the NSA to reveal the spying was to report it to the FISA Court which holds jurisdiction over the use of the database.
When FISA Judge Rosemary Collyer was made aware of the spying, in October 2016 by NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers, she then interpreted the NSA admissions through the language of the FISA Court.
When Judge Collyer released her report in March 2017 [SOURCE], that’s how the FISA terminology entered the discussion. However, nothing about the use of the NSA database to conduct political surveillance or spying had anything to do with the Obama administration using the FISA-702 authority to exploit the system.
Collyer noted that 85% of the Obama administration’s searches of the database, from 2012 to 2016, had nothing to do with FISA inquires. No attempt at minimization or justification was being done, and further, only 15% of the use of the database was being done in compliance with the rules governing the use of the database.
Tens of thousands of searches were conducted by the Obama administration, as they used their access to the NSA database to spy on their targets. The NSA identified the spying culprits colloquially as “FBI Contractors,” but factually nothing was ever provided to verify that assertion.
In fact, the only attribution that could be associated with the “contractor” claim, is the workstations and user access IDs deployed to search the database. To this day, we do not know where those workstations were located, or who was behind the user IDs operating the searches.
What we do know is that massive spying operations were undertaken during the period from 2012 to 2016, and many of those searches were for the same people repeatedly; meaning the same people were under constant illegal surveillance, and all of their electronic information was being reviewed by the Obama administration.
♦ Again, just for emphasis, the Obama administration was spying on targeted Americans repeatedly, and absolutely none of the activity had anything to do with FISA authorities. It was the existence of the NSA captures, the database itself, which brought the Obama administration to a place where it became useful for their spying operation.
The use of the NSA database for domestic spying operations followed the moment when the use of the IRS database was no longer feasible. Once congress and the American people became aware of the IRS and DOJ’s collaborative “special research project,” a targeted surveillance mechanism that culminated in the IRS/DOJ agreeing to settle a class-action lawsuit, the Obama administration switched from using the IRS data to using the NSA data. It really is that simple.
Obviously, the existence of the NSA database itself is problematic. However, the problem expands exponentially when we realize the false sense of security, the FISA firewall, is nothing more than a ruse to keep gathering the data of Americans.
The American people are told the data captures and FISA searches are being done as part of the national security system, where searching the database is a critical tool for the various intelligence agencies to identify threats. However, as shown by President Obama’s activity in 2012 through 2016, only 15% of that activity was part of a national security effort.
The overwhelming amount of activity that takes place within the NSA database, is simply the U.S. government conducting electronic surveillance. That’s the issue highlighted by “Spygate,” President Barack Obama’s unlawful use of the data captures to monitor targets identified by the administration.
Just like the Cincinnati IRS whistleblower (’12), once the NSA compliance officer noticed what was happening (March ’16), the trail of spying became a risk to the Obama administration. That’s the moment when Hillary Clinton’s planned deployment of the vast Russian conspiracy became of value to Obama and the surveillance perpetrators.
The Clinton campaign had been planning to use Russia as a dirty trick tool against the winner of the GOP nomination. The testimony of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign manager, Robby Mook, even admitted it.
John Durham – Q: In the Summer of 2016, was Mr. Trump’s relationship with Russia something that the campaign focused on?
Robby Mook – A: Yes. I mean, it was frankly something we were focused on before that time. But absolutely.

The death of Philip Haney, a Department of Homeland Security whistleblower, two years ago that generated right-wing conspiracy theories was ruled a suicide Wednesday by a Northern California sheriff-coroner.
Evidence found during the investigation into Haney’s death has now spurred a new investigation into how he obtained “contraband” documents.
Haney, 66, was found dead with a single gunshot wound on Feb. 21, 2020, in a park-and-ride lot along State Highway 16 near State Highway 124 in Amador County, east of Sacramento. He was a former DHS national security official for 15 years and self-described whistleblower critical of President Barack Obama’s administration.
Haney’s death was controversial enough for the Amador County Sheriff’s Office to bring in FBI crime scene investigators and other analysts to assist.
Investigators found that Haney left a suicide note with a signature that a forensic analysis determined was in his handwriting. The gun used was traced to him.
He also left behind neatly arranged financial documents with instructions on how he wanted his assets distributed, according to investigators. And Haney gave away his potted plants the day before he was found dead.
“After a thorough review of the evidence collected and processed by the Sheriff’s Office and FBI, the Sheriff’s Office has determined the manner of Mr. Haney’s death to be suicide,” the statement from Sheriff Gary Redman’s office said. “This case has been classified as closed.”
Haney published a book in 2016 titled “See Something, Say Nothing: A Homeland Security Officer Exposes the Government’s Submission to Jihad,” which alleged inaction against terrorism by the Obama administration.
He testified before a Senate Judiciary subcommittee and appeared on Fox News’ “The Sean Hannity Show” the year his book was published. His death spurred conspiracy speeches by Republican Iowa U.S. Rep. Steve King and another GOP congressman on the House floor.
“He was a target because of all he knew of Islamic terrorist coverups,” King tweeted at the time. “Phil Haney didn’t kill himself.”
After Haney’s death, the FBI’s analysis of numerous thumb drives and a personal laptop in Haney’s motorhome determined that “many documents found are the property of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection,” according to the sheriff’s detailed account of the death investigation.
That federal agency’s Office of Professional Responsibility asked to take possession of what it called “contraband” documents.
The sheriff’s office said it turned over Haney’s laptop and three thumb drives a month ago “for their investigation into violations of CBP policy and numerous United States Codes.”
Customs and Border Protection spokesman Jaime Ruiz said he couldn’t comment “because it’s an open investigation.”
“We might have further details as the investigation progresses, but for now we can’t say anything,” Ruiz added.
An FBI spokeswoman, Gina Swankie, said her agency assisted the sheriff’s office with analysis, but it was not an FBI investigation. She declined to comment, deferring to the sheriff’s office.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security did not immediately comment Wednesday.
The sheriff’s office outlined numerous reasons it concluded that Haney killed himself less than three miles (4.8 kilometers) from where he was living in a motorhome.
Investigators found his vehicle parked next to his body, with the suicide note on the dashboard that the FBI analysis found had been signed by Haney. He appeared to have fallen out of a folding chair after shooting himself, the sheriff’s office said.
An autopsy found no other “suspicious trauma” nor any pre-death injuries suggesting that he’d been “involved in any type of altercation,” the sheriff’s office said.
The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives traced the unregistered handgun to the last registered owner, who lived in Georgia. He told investigators he was a friend of Haney’s and had sold Haney the weapon about five years earlier.
Haney’s motorhome in an RV park was “clean and well organized,” the sheriff’s office said. Personal and financial paperwork “was arranged neatly on the kitchen countertop, some containing instructions for how Mr. Haney wanted his assets disbursed,” the sheriff’s office said.
A neighbor told investigators that Haney “appeared depressed lately” and had given the neighbor his potted plants the day before his death.”

If the government believes it has justification to see the communications of an American citizen, let them apply for and get a search warrant in the old-fashioned manner, consistent with all Fourth Amendment protections. And make it a felony for any government official to use any go-around to spy on citizens that does not fully comply with the Fourth Amendment.

I joined the tea party online, I don’t remember exactly when, but since then I have been audited by the IRS every single year and by multiple offices ,always for the same thing. We are on RRA don’t have a bunch of money so its not like my taxes are complicated. I have always attributed it to that whole IRS scandal. Its very annoying and rarely do I end up paying anything its just coping and mailing correspondence to multiple offices almost every month. It just gets so old I really wish they would just stop…..
Reading this website and other material from 2015-2016-2017 the big picture overlay clearly shows this was the motive. It is hard to see the big picture with so much subterfuge, dirty tricks, various threads of wrong doing. But stepping back, it was clear there was massive surveillance going on of many “leaders”, press people and regular citizens by Obama’s government. It was being exposed by Snowden and others. There were many rising political groups of Americans making progress against the two parties since Ross Perot. Each time, they were taken down but became more powerful in a new form. As more and more of the public recognized this, Americans were suddenly the enemy of the government (from the elites point of view). All the surveillance to black mail and otherwise control outcomes was being exposed. They needed something to make it appear legitimate. Russia gate and FISA courts being used to show justification even if wrongdoing predated the reason. It really needs full exposure of those manipulating American and world events regardless of the impacts. We cannot move past it until the bandaid comes off.
Been following this site for a long long time. Sundance worked to figure all this out and to get it in the sunlight. He’s been tirelessly doing this work. NOW, realize that nearly ALL of the folks who were illegally spied on have stayed quiet no doubt out of fear of the IC. This is scary, scary stuff.

Great story. However, I believe the alliance between Bush and Clinton (Haiti relief fund) was done to make the two families rule Washington. Clinton ran the Democratic Party and his wife was Secretary of State. H.W.’s boy was President and he was an ex-CIA director. I think they were pissed that a nobody (Obama) beat Hillary. How many ex-Clinton people were in Obama’s administration? I think George Stephanopolis reminded him of who was in charge with his question regarding the definition of a mandate vs. a tax (ObamaCare). Clinton had an illegal server in her house, allowing Bill to keep tabs on what was happening. This is where everything unraveled. They had to create a diversion to hide their illegality. (Remember, Hillary went to Russia with a “reset button”. Hillary led the charge to turn over 20% of our uranium reserves to Russia. The Clinton Foundation received huge amounts of money from Russian investors/benefactors.). Hillary was destroying government property and emails to cover her tracks, with a huge help from Clinton’s media. So in typical Democrat/media form, make it seem like Trump was in bed with Russia. (Everything they complain about, they either did or are currently doing.). The Deep State (Bush’s comrades) stepped in to help. Even Loretta Lynch was found on a plane with Clinton. Conveniently, the media received information before the election to use against Trump.
