That my friends, is the reason why so many people get lost in the story of the 2016 election and the eventual Trump-Russia conspiracy. However, once you understand what changed in those April and May 2016 moments, everything reconciles.
The U.S. government, under the President Obama administration, was spying on American citizens.
It started with Barack Obama and AG Eric Holder’s use of the IRS database in the 2010 midterm, against the primary threat of the Tea Party movement. However, an IRS whistleblower from the Cincinnati field office took the continued use of the IRS off the table.
From the period of mid-2012 to April-2016, the administration factually and demonstrably shifted to using the power of electronic surveillance to conduct political spying operations using the NSA database and the metadata captures within it.
However, once that NSA surveillance and spying was identified in April 2016, President Obama had a problem. That’s where the Obama alignment with the Clinton ‘dirty trick’ comes into play. After May 2016, Obama needed Hillary Clinton to win the election. The rest is “Russiagate” history.
Those who remember the 2015/2016 presidential race will remember President Obama never campaigned for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 primary. After all, Bernie Sanders was potentially going to upend Clinton until the DNC stepped heavily on the scales to assist her, and team Sanders was furious. Then suddenly, following the California primary, Barack went all in.
There is a distinct timeline shift during this period that most seem to overlook, because “Russiagate” was/is easily the shiniest thing for people to follow. However, it was the precursor scandal, ‘spygate’, that is more critical yet gets almost no attention.
Here it becomes critical for people to understand exactly what was taking place. Absolutely nothing had anything to do with: the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, aka FISA – surveillance impacting Americans (FISA-702), the FISA Court, masking, minimizing or unmasking. None of those terms apply. What the Obama administration was doing was simply spying.
The only reason the aforementioned terms enter the discussion is through the method used by the NSA compliance officer to reveal the nature of how the database was being compromised. The only tool for the NSA to reveal the spying was to report it to the FISA Court which holds jurisdiction over the use of the database.
When FISA Judge Rosemary Collyer was made aware of the spying, in October 2016 by NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers, she then interpreted the NSA admissions through the language of the FISA Court.
When Judge Collyer released her report in March 2017 [SOURCE], that’s how the FISA terminology entered the discussion. However, nothing about the use of the NSA database to conduct political surveillance or spying had anything to do with the Obama administration using the FISA-702 authority to exploit the system.
Collyer noted that 85% of the Obama administration’s searches of the database, from 2012 to 2016, had nothing to do with FISA inquires. No attempt at minimization or justification was being done, and further, only 15% of the use of the database was being done in compliance with the rules governing the use of the database.
Tens of thousands of searches were conducted by the Obama administration, as they used their access to the NSA database to spy on their targets. The NSA identified the spying culprits colloquially as “FBI Contractors,” but factually nothing was ever provided to verify that assertion.
In fact, the only attribution that could be associated with the “contractor” claim, is the workstations and user access IDs deployed to search the database. To this day, we do not know where those workstations were located, or who was behind the user IDs operating the searches.
What we do know is that massive spying operations were undertaken during the period from 2012 to 2016, and many of those searches were for the same people repeatedly; meaning the same people were under constant illegal surveillance, and all of their electronic information was being reviewed by the Obama administration.
♦ Again, just for emphasis, the Obama administration was spying on targeted Americans repeatedly, and absolutely none of the activity had anything to do with FISA authorities. It was the existence of the NSA captures, the database itself, which brought the Obama administration to a place where it became useful for their spying operation.
The use of the NSA database for domestic spying operations followed the moment when the use of the IRS database was no longer feasible. Once congress and the American people became aware of the IRS and DOJ’s collaborative “special research project,” a targeted surveillance mechanism that culminated in the IRS/DOJ agreeing to settle a class-action lawsuit, the Obama administration switched from using the IRS data to using the NSA data. It really is that simple.
Obviously, the existence of the NSA database itself is problematic. However, the problem expands exponentially when we realize the false sense of security, the FISA firewall, is nothing more than a ruse to keep gathering the data of Americans.
The American people are told the data captures and FISA searches are being done as part of the national security system, where searching the database is a critical tool for the various intelligence agencies to identify threats. However, as shown by President Obama’s activity in 2012 through 2016, only 15% of that activity was part of a national security effort.
The overwhelming amount of activity that takes place within the NSA database, is simply the U.S. government conducting electronic surveillance. That’s the issue highlighted by “Spygate,” President Barack Obama’s unlawful use of the data captures to monitor targets identified by the administration.
Just like the Cincinnati IRS whistleblower (’12), once the NSA compliance officer noticed what was happening (March ’16), the trail of spying became a risk to the Obama administration. That’s the moment when Hillary Clinton’s planned deployment of the vast Russian conspiracy became of value to Obama and the surveillance perpetrators.
The Clinton campaign had been planning to use Russia as a dirty trick tool against the winner of the GOP nomination. The testimony of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign manager, Robby Mook, even admitted it.
John Durham – Q: In the Summer of 2016, was Mr. Trump’s relationship with Russia something that the campaign focused on?
Robby Mook – A: Yes. I mean, it was frankly something we were focused on before that time. But absolutely.
Q: Mr. Mook, before the break you had testified that there was a conversation in which you told Ms. Clinton about the proposed plan to provide the Alfa-Bank allegations to the media; is that correct?
A: Correct.

A: All I remember is that she agreed with the decision.

Tens of thousands of searches were conducted by the Obama administration, as they used their access to the NSA database to spy on their targets. The NSA identified the spying culprits colloquially as “FBI Contractors,” but factually nothing was ever provided to verify that assertion.
Everything in my gut is telling me these were folks that NGO’s and non US citizens that Obama gave direct access to. We already know about Sedition Hunters, the group that hunted down J6th protesters. A good portion were foreign citizens who seemed to have access to whatever info was needed to track the J6 crowd down.

I was not surprised when Dems weaponized the IRS. What really upset me was the complacency of the Rinos because it was directed at the Tea Party.
RINOs gave tacit approval as they stood to gain the most from the absence of Tea Party candidates.
These discussions have provided outstanding guidance on how Spygate and so forth occured, but so far there is no overwhelming evidence of why it occurred.
I really want to kinow why.
Why do evil people spend so much time in doing evil – the same energy could be spent on doing good and everyone would be happy and sleep well. Satin is real and is the king of manipulation and is fighting for control – fortunately we know that Jesus already won the battle on the cross.

See the dot gov doesn’t really spend $10k on a hammer, or $12k on a wrench or $20k each on space toilets. They use those expenditures to build slush funds. Often through NGOs.

You bring up and important point here about FISA 702, saying it was not used to surveil everyday Americans, but only targeted Americans.
I think the use did go further than that, based on the Audit of Woods File of 39 randomly selected cases where FISA warrants were issued.
Firs know this about prosecutors and judges, of whom I have several in my family.
Prosecutors live and die by their won/loss record, which become a central line in their campaign literatur.
Judges don’t want to be reversed, ever, and don’t want some prosecutors slip up to be a reason for reversal. That’s part of why they all love and try to get the accused to take a plea deal.
The next thing to realize is that our courts, especially in Washington DC, are fully staffed, and the great majority of the judges are Lawyers (interchangeable name for Democrats, Dimms)
In Washington DC:
Dimms in Washington don’t get prosecuted in media, or the court, unless it is just in-your-face obvious.
Rips get prosecuted in both the courts (the staff and bureaucracy is all Dimm remember) and the Media to the fullest extent possible.
Everyone “below the line” get prosecuted no matter what side you are on.. Scalps si the name of the game for career advancement.
So, when the 39 random Woods Files were looked at, most of them were empty, and none had sufficient predicate to qualify them as a national security matter.
What this means is rampant prosecutorial abuse of the FISA system to force a plea.
By making the case a FISA case, the prosecutors both Dimm and Rips can deny access to the accused and their lawyers of any evidence against them in discovery. They are literally unable to defend themselves. (Sorry you don’t have a clearance to see the file.)
The prosecutors are able to accuse anyone of anything and with no evidence force a plea, because the accused can’t make a case in defense.
I am sure that all prosecutors both Dimm and Rip and guilty of this.
That is what the audit showed because these were random files from the FISA database not cases from the political stuff going on at the time.
So we See that DOJ is using FISA on just about any case they want to screw the accused to the wall, and force a plea on their terms.
That is why it is too dangerous to allow the government to have this tool because they already HAVE abused it to the max against every Joe and Jane Doe they run over.
FISA must NOT be reauthorized.;
The technical side of the ability to even do the spying needs to be stated, from the POV of the people and entities actually doing the spying and making the queries.
The “NSA Highly Classified” database was the basis for the illegal “spying”.
The USER ID and IP addresses of AUTHORIZED Users and Workstations is KNOWN and LISTED at the NSA.
In this case the IP Address LOCATES the workstation.
The Workstation by law has to be a “Classified Workstation”, to touch then NSA database, working over a dedicated AUTHORIZED Communications Line. That means the workstation has to located in a certified secure area or have a removable Hard Drive Stored in a certified secure area. That means there is an access paper trail to just access the Workstation. There is also a paper trail involved to just USE the workstation .. as well as … a paper trail describing what was accessed via the workstation. This is not just some random internet cafe workstation.
The security plans and documentation needed establish as well as sustain the usage of the Workstation is massive, to include USAGE logs and lists of authorized users. The paper trail is so large that it would have to be completely ignored by investigators to not ferret out at least a few of those making the queries as well as put tons of pressure on the owners of the workstation for major security violation..
Once the IP Address of the Workstation making one of those 85% illegal spying queries in established, the FEDS had a predicate for a warrant to be crawling over the location of that workstation for security violations and legal (spying) purposes.
Yes, I agree about the process of establishing these workstations. But, that applies only to those who uphold and follow the law.
If they are willing to spy, then they are also willing to set up these workstations without proper process and protocols. And when you say, they are doing it, abusing the database for spying…they can point and say, oh, but see, there no such paperwork that points to those workstations you claim exist.
They are dangerous ideologues but the likes of Eisen, McCord, and the others are not stupid.
100% If they are willing to do the illegal spying they will certainly fail to follow all processes and procedures.
… and they were caught or seen … the decision at the time was made not to follow up on the fact.
Admiral Rogers was fired for being non-cooperative and General Flynn was fire then framed for a crime. Their replacements were part of the program.
It is NOT that simple, even for the bad guys. One just does not simply turn on a computer and then log into the Classified NSA Database or to the FBI for that matter for any of those linked into the FBI from contractors or law firm offices.
All that I have described above must be established FIRST after applying to the NSA and FBI for authority to even set up the workstation.
There is an auditable trail on both sides of the connection that has to be established before being able to “log in”.
In addition, the initial audit done by NSA Admiral Rogers’ team would have 2018 found more than just illegal database queries …. and more than a referral to FISC Judge Collyer would have occurred as Admiral Rogers was not part of the Spygate Operation … RED Flags and Alarm bells would have gone up as well as major counter espionage action.
Even Hillary Clinton’s bathroom server was setup using the process except she had a friendly Security Person “certify” the setup. Would not be surprised if that is how the Clinton bathroom server was discovered …. some security person, not part of the program, tracked down the location of the IP as part of security check or Hillary was dumb enough to make a query which was on Admiral Roger’s list.
It’s my understanding that FISA/FISA 702 are used as a cover for all out spying on Americans by some fake foreign intel connection. I understand how the FISC judge had to use those terms to explain it, but I think the FISAs, though fraudulent, are actually used as cover in the spying. I am wondering if these FBI contractors are located in the fusion centers across the nation. They break into innocent American’s homes to set up covert spy tech (pinhole cameras embedded in the walls). They also hack home surveillance cameras so they can turn them off while they, under the guise of sneak and peek, terrorize these innocent Americans by leaving traces that they’ve been in their homes and also stealing items. I know a lot about this because under Obama I was literally plucked from the internet because I wrote about Operation Timber Sycamore which was the CIA’s precious baby. (I didn’t know it had a name then). They search their NSA databases to find bs foreign connections, like they did with Tulsi Gabbard. Then they just all out hack all of your devices while disguising it as FBI investigations and LEAK it out to EVERYONE like it is an organic and real FBI operation. They leak it to absolutely everyone by listening to all of your calls, your intimate conversations in YOUR HOME and your mic turned on to catch ambient sounds. So say you are setting up an event with a friend, then before the event happens they intercept that friend and say you are a bad person and under investigation and to shun you. This happens over and over again throughout your entire community, neighbors, friends AND family and your parents. Both of my parents died during COVID thinking I was being investigated for years on end by the government. It was sad beyond belief. So I understand about searching the NSA databases (which might have revealed a donation or two which my husband made to the The American East-West Accord in part started by Stephen Cohen who was a professor of Russian studies who my husband had at Princeton). So I hope this spying is stopped for the sake of the victims of the spying and the country. We cannot function with secret police, secret courts and rogue politicians.
