For months, the so-called “coalition of the willing” led by Great Britain, France and Germany, have been proposing a multinational group of peacekeepers on the ground in Ukraine – supported by U.S. military. However, after President Trump asserted he would not support a U.S. troop presence in Ukraine, things got sticky.
Without the U.S. military, the NATO members were not willing to put their troops into the meat grinder buffer zone between Russian and Ukrainian forces. The U.K, France and Germany continually demanded U.S. troops as protection, just in case things escalated. This insurance approach was expanded by Ukrainian President Zelenskyy who coined the term, “security guarantee” to encapsulate the EU demand.
However, President Trump cuts the Gordian knot in the “ceasefire plan,” by eliminating the “ceasefire plan.”
Instead, President Trump goes directly to a peace agreement, and somehow the EU members agreed to it. There will be no negotiation for a ceasefire; instead there will be immediate negotiations for a long-term peace agreement.

In a statement, Zelenskyy said that he had a “long and substantive” conversation with Trump, initially one-on-one, before other leaders were invited to take part. “We support President Trump’s proposal for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the U.S. and Russia,” he said, adding that he will travel to Washington on Monday to meet with Trump.
“As envisioned by President Trump, the next step must now be further talks including President Zelenskyy, whom he will meet soon,” the group of European countries represented on the call said in a statement. “We are also ready to work with President Trump and President Zelenskyy towards a trilateral summit with European support.” (read more)
Zelenskyy will be in Washington DC on Monday afternoon for a talk with President Trump. In that meeting, we anticipate President Trump telling Zelenskyy that the general terms of the ‘peace agreement’ will be to include the permanent loss of territory in exchange for something we do not yet know.
I wonder if what created the breakthrough leading to the meeting yesterday was a US suggestion to provide security guarantees in Ukraine. Both Eurettes and Green T Shirt keep demanding US support. Well, what if US relocates most of its troop now scattered around EU bases into Ukraine. They then ensure no hostilities between Russia and Ukraine and also no incursions by EU or neocon globalists, effectively serving as Russia’s new geopolitical ally. Not a chance, the EU can provide their own security for Ukraine. I think Trump told both Z and the EU that if you don’t agree to this, I will pull all US support, no money, no weapons and you are on your own. Meanwhile, Putin and I are making plans to partner with our economies and resources and make deals that benefit both of us. I think most of the discussions were about just that, not just Ukraine. I bet we’ll be hearing about a rare earth minerals deal with Russia soon. And I think there will be many more deals to come. China will be left out of the mix, if they choose, or can join the new America first, Russia first alignment. No country would consider attacking an America/ Russia coalition. I understand Congress is working on a 36 billion dollar aid package for Ukraine, and if they’re dumb enough to pass it, Trump will veto it and there aren’t enough suicidal members to override, so Trump can back up his threat. It’s simple, Trump has the only leverage he needs to deal with Z and the EU, if you don’t agree, no support. Anyway, that’s my take on what transpired. President Trump has done nothing but acknowledge that he, and NATO aren’t calling the shots, the Russians are.
The realities on the battlefield determines who dictates the terms of surrender.

The absence of Zelensky at the summit between Trump and Putin makes it impossible to claim that a ceasefire agreement was either achieved or failed, because without Ukraine’s direct participation, any conclusion about an agreement is premature and fundamentally unfounded.

I think NATO as currently operated is in for major changes. Certainly running proxy wars is not what NATO was established to be. It’s outlived its purpose and its become corrupted. Why did Putin invade Ukraine?
I think Putin wants some of Ukraine’s Rare Earth Minerals. The USSR owned those Rare Earths when Ukraine was part of the USSR.
Ukraine has a huge deposit in the Donbas region where Russian troops invaded.
She has two others large deposits of Rare Earths in her interior.
I wonder if Putin would let Ukraine keep her borders if Russia could have a share of the minerals in the Donbas region?

Oh, he’s just a bit gloomy. In every post. For the last week.
The motives of Zelensky revolve around one priority – that he gets to remain in power for as long as possible. He will refuse any agreement that contains a requirement to hold elections in the near term, because he knows that anything resembling a fair election means he will almost certainly be voted out of office and forced into exile. The only possibility he doesn’t get voted out is if Russia gives up the war and retreats from all the land it now occupies, including Donbas and Crimea, but nothing resembling that is going to happen.
Zelensky needs outside help, lots of it and ongoing, to stay in power in the absence of an agreement. The possibility of continuing the war is diminishing every day, since with no agreement Trump might just have the U.S. cease providing help and he knows the Europeans are not going to provide any on their own. They will provide help if the U.S. is providing it or reimbursing them in some fashion, but they won’t do it all on their own.
And with no agreement and no meaningful outside help, the Russians will just continue slowing grinding Ukraine down until there is no one left to argue with and they can simply impose whatever terms Putin wants. And there is not a lot of grinding down left to do. Ukraine has almost exhausted their supply of potential troop replacements. Supplies of Western arms won’t help much if there is no one left to use them.
This war is coming to an end soon, one way or another, and Zelensky knows that once it is over he is fairly quickly going to need safe passage out of Ukraine to whatever mansion he is planning to spend the rest of his life in. He will stall for as long as he can until peace is inevitable and then his regime will pretty quickly fall and he will be scrambling to get on that last plane into exile before somebody can bump him off.
One thing few people right now are talking about is the topic of what will replace the military support Ukraine has been receiving. A peace agreement, whatever it ends up looking like, is the first requirement before billions in reconstruction money can start flowing, and everyone is going to want a piece of that pie. You can bet that is what the deep staters and EU bureaucrats and all the others who were getting rich off of pre-war Ukraine are now privately salivating over. Zelensky won’t benefit from any of that because he will be long gone before it starts to flow. But it is a topic that needs to start getting serious attention, along with who Zelensky’s replacement will be. The deep staters and Eurocrats cannot be allowed to control reconstruction or the money laundering sewer that was pre-war Ukraine will return, just without Zelensky and some of their former territory.

Well the EU was also angling for an economic carrot to Trump to provide “security” to corporate interests. But it seems to point to the same thing – the US being on the hook for Ukraine’s security. Trump seems to understand what is really going on here. But I remain skeptical because the Globalists will not quit. It was a smart move to make Zelensky the ultimate driver to ending the war.
EU, Zelinsky, etc keep talking about an “unconditional” ceasefire, for the specific purpose of putting Nato/british/french/US troops and military equipment in Ukraine. What is NATO puts missiles, more biowarfare installations, etc in Ukraine? No conditional ceasefire means no conditions of forbidding Ukraine rearmament and forbidding NATO/british/french troops. Why would Russia agree to a ceasefire? The purpose is to stop the start of imminent loss of the rest of Ukraine? What does a ‘guarantee of sovereignty’ mean if NATO puts nukes/missiles/bioweapons/troops in Ukraine? Or promises not to do so, then does?

The European Union, in tandem with the U.S. Deep State, is hell-bent on having a war with Russia, with the goal of bringing down Vladimir Putin and dismembering the Russian Federation.

I think Orban is right to be concerned about the EU/deep state focus on Russia, but I don’t think they really want a real war with Russia. For the EU and their own deep state Russia is just a bogeyman to distract from their own internal problems. Having an external problem to focus on is an age-old tactic of rulers who need to keep their publics more fearful of the outside world than they are of serious home-grown problems. The EU has significant internal problems, such as their unchecked illegal immigration, de-industrialization and the weakening of their economies and financial security that went along with it, their climate/green lunacies, and other problems. The EU’s publics are increasingly unhappy about those things and turning to political parties that challenge the political status quo. So what better thing to keep themselves in power than to point over to Russia and frighten everyone with claims the Russians want to invade, to start WW3, etc.? Russia is too useful in that regard as a bogeyman to actually want a real war with them. While they may go along with Trump and agree to an end of the Ukraine war, you can bet they will simply reframe the alleged threat from Russia and keep the bogeyman alive.
While that is certainly one aspect of the EU’s stance, and an important one, it isn’t the only one. The financial considerations and fear of Russia’s economic power and potential world island dominance are also part of their motivation.

Diplomacy often involves severe flattery involving things which may or may not be true. If you’ve watched PDJT for any length of time, you should be aware that he often uses both honey and vinegar in his public comments with those involved. As far as NATO involvement – the EU has inserted themselves into this since the beginning and since the contention is fundamentally between NATO and Russia, with Ukraine as a proxy, it makes perfect sense to butter up the NATO side in order to increase the possibility of working a deal.
I don’t know that it necessarily flew under the radar since the media immediately pounced on the lack of a ceasefire as if it were a diplomacy failure. Either they don’t understand what happened, or they are willfully ignorant.
The moment when President Trump stops the $$$, weapons and satellite targeting to Ukraine the fighting stops 20 minutes later!
