While President Trump visits his golf courses in Scotland, he will also be conducting business on behalf of the USA by meeting with trade partners from both Great Britain and Europe.
This morning USA time, President Trump is scheduled to meet with EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, at approximately 11:30am ET. Livestream Links Below:
UPDATE: Video Added
.
The EU is in a very precarious position. Currently scheduled to receive 35% reciprocal tariffs on August 1st, President Trump is in no hurry to negotiate any multilateral trade agreement. The 35% tariff essentially ends the Marshall Plan, and that is the key issue that has currently made the EU go bananas.
Without the one-way benefit of tariffs against the USA, the EU cannot continue to afford its very lucrative social subsidies. Get rid of the Marshall Plan and everything related to the economy in Europe changes. President Trump knows this as does the entire EU collective.
President Trump is not in a hurry to negotiate any trade agreement, and the baseline 10% tariff rate on all nations is a done deal. The EU, specifically under the influence of a very tenuous German economy, are now trying to negotiate avoidance of the 35% reciprocal tariffs.

I wouldn’t trust Ursula von der Leyen as far as I could throw her.
With a pointy hat and a broomstick, she would complete her wardrobe.
Or maybe a snappy black uniform with a red armband would be more appropriate.

A working vacation
When they say President Trump never stops, they mean it!
The words of Robert Frost are so evocative of our President.
The woods are lovely dark and deep, But I have promises to keep… And miles to go before I sleep… And miles to go before I sleep.
I’m sure those are words President Trump lives by.
Oh yes indeed…
On peut payer un peut plus pour Cointreau et Ricard, mais jamais payer en plus pour un European Vacation. C’est tellement triste!
Mr. President, I know you have God’s armor and enjoy a good game of 3D chess but watch out for this wicked witch of the east and her flying monkeys….
Makes ya wonder, who is Trump’s little dog Toto?
She looks terrified…as if she’s been called to the headmaster’s study..
She’s out of her depth.
And she knows it.
It was good in his sit down that Pres. Trump (in response to a question) mentioned the issue of the need for pharmaceuticals to be carved out from trade deals, with his insistence that they be done in the US. He has been wolverinish on US self-sufficiency in this area. Fast forward to your terrified comment: She is genuinely a-skeered because quite some time ago – in fact when Trump first started mentioning tariffs – EU and particularly German pharma companies told her and their country’s presidents that they had the capital and had no problem setting up full production inside the US to avoid such things, EU hand-wringing be damned. They did that in an instant after the tariff announcements. To her, that’s what irrelevancy must feel like.
“Achh, Scheisse!”
Just a little background here since Pharma was mentioned.
Her husband, a German doctor, is a medical director of a US based biotech company, Orgenesis, which specializes in “gene therapies”. There were accusations that he facilitated EU funds to it through her position, but they were debunked. One write up was very careful to specify that his company’s product were not “vaccines”…oh yes?
It’s all well and good to have pharmaceuticals manufactured here, and I understand that doing so is in our national security interest.
But, shifting sideways now, until we straighten out the eye watering (and in too many cases unaffordable) costs of these medicines….plus insurance costs which are escalating into the stratosphere, along with the companies themselves who wield their life and death powers over people who have bankrupted themselves paying for the benefits which then are increasingly denied to them…I am sceptical that the public will see any relief.
Von Der Leyen has been marinating in the self delusional vision she holds…that she could manipulate President Trump out of what is coming on August 1, four days from now.
She miscalculated and is now in a worse position than had she not overestimated her power (she has none) and underestimated President Trump’s resolve to right past trade wrongs. Accounts for the look on her face as the cameras began rolling.
She is simply a cat’s paw, stuck where she is because of her hubris and intransigence.
He has her exactly where he wants her.
Right??
Right…
Well done ma’am. (And the illustration is epic.)
Bless, badger (yes, isn’t it 👍🏻)
Remember Barack’s goal of ObamaCare was single payer. Government funded via taxpayers. UK & Canadian healthcare. We are close to achieving that Barack’s goal. How many Americans who do not have employer based insurance, or on government Medicaid/Medicare can afford health insurance? The last two are a joke. Healthcare providers couldn’t exist if they had only those two revenue streams. The number is decreasing by design. Here is a reason why. Medicare reimbursement is so miniscule. Part B, the physician part, costs keep going up for anyone the government deems can afford it. So a couple on Medicare pay approximately five thousand per year. There is a Medicare deductible. Medicare either doesn’t pay for many health related costs or reimburses the health care system 25% or considerably less. Therefore one who can afford it either takes out additional insurance. Some go the route of HMO’s. My knowledge of one of the largest on the Left Coast they may more affordable if you do not have any serious health issues. If you do you are in trouble. My wife and I are on Medicare and carry a secondary policy via a large group I am eligible for as a retiree. Our annual costs are close to $13,000 for insurance. We rarely use the insurance other than annual eye appointments and my twice annual dental hygiene. Medicare pays Zero.
How many future retirees can pay $13K for healthcare insurance?
Your experience with Medicare mirrors ours. Almost precisely with the supplement.
I am only too aware, papa. The cost of ours has been jacked up 5 times in the last two to three years. And I’m expecting it will be again shortly.
And of course, anyone paying even the slightest attention understood what Obamacare was attempting to do.
It didn’t help that Roberts rewrote what was put in front of him, ruling the whole thing as unconstitutional, which he should have done. And who can forget the mouldering corpse of McCain (then as now) dramatically entering the Senate at the last moment, and like Caesar holding his thumb up before ostentatiously turning it downward.
I have first hand experience with the system of socialized medicine, one payer in Britain, the NHS…”Free” at point of use and trumpeted by the British government as “the envy of the world”. The stories of the actualities are legion, and disgracefully true, that truth now being it is simply is not fit for purpose.
Such has Obama wrought.
My empathy and sympathy to you, good sir.
Speaking of Juan McStain…
Malevolence, his Book of Life written all over his face.
None. I can barely see with my glasses that I have, paid out of pocket. It would have cost me nothing if I had cataracts and had lenses put in. They can laser people’s eyes and put the whole optician racket out of existence. Medical insurance is for the wealthy, working poor and poverty stricken who may or may not be able to get to appointments.
If you have your prescription, Warby Parker online is exceptionally reasonable. Like you, I couldn’t see out of my old ones but put off getting new ones because of the cost. We were astounded.
Professional, courteous, delivered in the time they promised, guaranteed satisfaction or they would make right. I don’t recommend often if ever…with them I am pleased to do so.
FYI
Health insurance is a disgusting racket (as is car insurance where we pay for illegals and the replacement of cars as expensive as houses).
I recently spoke to my agent after annual costs went up again and his comment was that companies keep raising rates to ensure they remain viable.
He said this with a straight face (well a phone conversation but he sounded sincere). He didn’t seem to realize the irony. What does it matter if they are “viable” if only 1% can afford their product?
Watch her head turn when President Trump says that Europeans aren’t giving Gaza any money for food
Eye lids are like a metronome!

I was riveted by her blinking 👀 Is she sending a signal? Trying the bewitched method of transport?
What’s up with that?
She’s being tortured!
God rest his soul 🙏🏻
She looks like she’d rather be dead than have to sit in that chair and maintain the facade.
That was brutal and gratifying.
The more truth he speaks, the faster she shrinks in the chair.
She is superfluous to requirements.

and how that could have an impact on the EU.

Yes, I’m staying up on dear Ursula, gypsy.

I think President Trump is ill-informed on what is going on with Israel and Gaza. Greater Israel is on the March!
off topic much?
I did listen to the presser.🙄
Gaza and the starvation was one of the
questions asked by the press.
🤷♀️ 🤷♀️
No. He talked about Israel in the presser. Listen again.
Agree! 👍
Appears to be a common issue lately.
We had a commenter the other day
fussing about Karoline not wearing

The picture on the article did not show cross—
but when watching the actual video of the

It is Really helpful that before people make
comments—- to actually watch the video.

Off Topic-Read the posting rules and use the open thread for off topic ideas.
Trump mentioned it in this press conference. I consider it not off topic.
I agree!
How is it….off topic?
And by two unknown commenters.
🤫 🤔 Interesting.
I’ve finally have to say it. What is it with the on topic/off topic folks?
I just took a visit to the Open Thread which, as usual, is 90+% obits, songs, Scripture, animals, nature. That’s fine. But the Presidential Thread and various other threads are where the community interacts.
If someone makes a comment that even has a smidgeon of relatability to the subject matter-who cares?
2.) STAY ON TOPIC – please do not post something unrelated to the specific matter and content of the thread subject. There is a ALWAYS a daily open thread available for any subject you feel should get attention. Never place unrelated, “O/T”, or “Off Topic” comments on a thread unrelated to the topic. It is not ok to say: “sorry, O/T but”… or any iteration therein, it is actually quite rude.

Yes, his statements during this presser
regarding the subject are…..puzzling.

Thank God the end of the Marshall Plan is near. It was a good policy to help rebuild post war Europe. After 77 years it’s past time to implement fair trade.
The EU has wealth parity with the US. US per capita income is maybe 25% higher, but we work 25% more hours.
As a Scots born now Canadian citizen I can attest to the massive disparity in the standard of living for the average American over U.K. or Canadian citizen.
While my understanding of the macroeconomic fundamentals is rudimentary.
On a micro level I can say that U.K. the rest of the G7 Euros and
Canada have had considerably more leisure time, and put far less effort into providing for themselves, the working or middle income Americans.
President Trump is aware of this imbalance and is looking out for the U.S.A.
In the late sixties and very early seventies the U.S.A. was envied by many on the other side of the pond.
Decades of corruption had almost succeeded in destroying the U.S.A.
Then along came “ The very special genius.”
😎
Many years ago I traveled to regional medical professional meetings and it was quite an education. I discovered that in the NE, for example, the doctors strongly identified self-worth with their profession. In other words, they more or less lived to work to attain the rewards their labors could afford them, and solo practices were more common than not, although often with more than one office. They generally led a very upscale lifestyle.
however, the further West I traveled the attitude changed drastically. Often there were fairly large group practices and LOTS time off to hunt , fish and ski. Those doctors worked to live and were quite satisfied living modestly…off-road pickups rather than Mercedes.
In other words, they were pretty much following the European view of working..and it seemed to work just fine for them.
Of course this was many years ago and may not even apply today.
Well stated. 😎
And it shows I enjoy the work I do even at 65 Heavy Equipment Tech. But my mindset is different from most. The Bible says every worker should receive his pay for his work. 60 + weekly.
Europe has become nothing but a giant sucking leech attached to the USA.
They have used the financial blessings that brought them to purposely destroy their countries by importing third world invaders unchecked and providing for them.
Doing this while bringing down their boots on the necks of their own people.
It’s past time to destroy their globalist march and perverted agenda for the USA.
Give them 50% tariffs and let them squeal like pigs.
Dear EU, end your war in Ukraine and we’ll talk about the 35%.
If the Ukraine war had never happened, we would still have to fix the trade & tariff Marshall imbalance.
They don’t get a free pass on trade just because of the war.

Trump has a Long Memory.
I remember during Trump I Presidency , at G – 8 Meetings , how they tried to Laugh & Humiliate him into Compliance
with their Demands . He blew them off BUT he remembers how Little Respect these Fools / Cowards Showed Him !
Payback Is A Bish……….
Ursula fond of Lyin today?
My condolences to President Trump who must meet with this horrible, and unpopular woman.
TRUMP : she’s a nice lady. good people. no…no deal.
And we’ll have fun fun fun ’til daddy takes the T-bird away-eeay!
Many of the invaders are coming from destabilized nations in the Middle East that were Clean Broken. I will also point out every Western Christian nation is being invaded. Logic would tell you that this means its coordinated by an entity which is Global that wants to destroy Western Civilization & its Christianity and Judaism. Well there was a comrade Albert Pike who seemed to know allot about future events including zionism, Sykes-Picot, Israel (Muslim invasion/self hating liberal-marxist Antifa types) which he called “Atheists & Nihilists) etc. Seems strange right?

They had to get the Ottoman’s out of Palestine so the British Masons could control it. So how did they really do that?
More like as William Cooper said it “They are using Revelations as a Script”
Straight out of Nostradamus Albert Pike. Was Pike psychic, a prophet, or a conspirator?

Lord how I love the way that PDJT spears people with their actions right to their faces.
We don’t deserve him but thank God He let us have him. 3x.
We are not going to allow windmills.
I can hear my great Texas conservative leaders crying already.
They are covering the whole state with windmills and solar panels.
They are everywhere. I visited Southwest Utah last year and took a side trip to the west of the I-15 right over the first set of hills from the interstate.
It looked like I stepped into a dystopian scene. There were solar panels everywhere as far as the eye can see. I was sickened to see what they did to destroy their rural landscapes.
Solar panels are a blight on the landscape and they actually cook birds as they fly over. Disgusting.
In 10 years these windmills will all be down and we will be dealing with all of the refuse that they have created third of an acre of concrete 12 feet thick under each one
Yeah, it amazes me that our “great Texas conservative leaders” are doing to energy generation in this state. We have a lot of oil as yet unfracked, we have so much natural gas that we don’t know what to do with it, and we have two large nuclear plants that have been successfully generating electricity for decades and have ample room to expand in place.
But no, the money is flowing to “our leaders” to keep going in absolutely the wrong direction – ugly and inefficient. But it is about the money!!
Couldn’t help but notice that she sat there with that perfectly poised posture as young girls used to be taught in cotillion classes, and hid her thoughts and opinions, and emotions, very well.
I can only imagine in the meeting that follows this initial press availability the masks will be off. To be a fly on the wall in that room!
Nah, she is just a Teutonic ice queen.
.
I’m wondering if we can do in the E.U. by offering “bilateral trade deals” with “conditions” against various E.U. diktat…
.
Oh to be a fly on the wall at this meeting.
Ursula will have the vapors and need to flop on the nearest couch.
The Marshall Plan was scheduled to end in 1957. Why didn’t it?
The acknowledged devastation of World War 2 was EIGHTY years ago. It’s one thing to help your ally get back on his feet. Absolutely the right thing to do until 1957.
Quite another to build a bus for him … and drive him around at your expense. For eighty years …
Intuition tells me that it had everything to do with kickbacks, AKA government corruption. Like where did the 37 trillion dollars go? Hmmmm?
Leverage, ladies and gentlemen. President Trump has it, and knows how to use it. The Marshall Plan will end, that much is certain. I wonder how long it will take for the EU to dissolve as a result?
Whatever trade agreement President Trump negotiates with the EU they will easily recover all of the tariff payments made by European manufacturers by simply fining American companies like Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Facebook, Netflix, Nvidia, Tesla and dozens of others hundreds of billions of dollars for violation of bogus EU rules which the EU courts rubber stamp.
They have been doing it for years and the money funds their welfare programs, illegal immigration and the cost of weapons to Ukraine.
The only way for the United States to come out ahead is to withdraw the 128,000 American troops and aircraft from Europe and stop funding the Ukraine war. Let Europe figure out how to defend themselves!
I’m all for that idea. Get everyone out and stop the money supplies. Let them flounder around and figure it out themselves. We need out of NATO too.
WOW! what a sour puss face on von der Layen! I do not hope for a good result with this meeting. Just looking at her people’s countenance does not give me hope either.
They are snobs! There is nothing worse than a European snob.
Can’t we really, really slow roll these negotiations? I know we can never back get the billions and billions of our tax dollars that Europe has cost us. And that’s not counting WWII. When you count the lost opportunities here in the US that money represents, it boggles the mind. Improved dams, roads, and interstates, lower taxes, better jobs from increased investment at home, the list goes on and on.
This isn’t about revenge because our federal government did it to us. But is would be nice to get SOME of it back. So take your time President Trump! Take your time…
I get the sense that the Eu’tards and others are waiting for a significant change that will eliminate these new tariffs.
I pray for the safety of Trump and I hope that he has the best personal protection in the history of Mankind.
2026 perhaps?
I like the Predident’s gold tie. It suits him.
He’s ushering in a Golden Age of America after all!
Kudos President Trump! You are the deal maker extraordinaire.
The EU has bowed to the will of America.
I love our President Trump!
Pass the Winnamins and Cheetos!!
MAGA 👊👊🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻
the full after-trade meeting video, just under 8 minutes in length; President Trump had said this meeting shouldn’t take more than one hour, he was right!
Congrats President Trump.
Not real thrilled w/them having billions in our weapons, hope they don’t get used against us, EU wants war, but I guess better to buy from us than elsewhere.
They have to pay for all of the weapons that they want to give to Ukraine instead of having the USA giving weaponry to Ukraine.
So 0% tariffs on our stuff…..
But what about quotas and other mechanisms to keep US stuff out?
I love when POTUS Trump wears his gold ties, the pink one not so much. Ursula reminds me of Cruella De’Ville. I really do not like that woman.
I wait for her to announce the good news and the bad news.
The good news is, no more 35% tariffs!
The bad news? The tariffs are 70% now.

Ms. VDL appeared to be a needy, humbled supplicant, based upon her drab clothing, limited and guarded speech, and sterile body language. She projected only weakness. As noted by others in previous comments, she openly manifested the discomfort of being outclassed and overpowered by PDJT.
SD has clearly documented the absence of any EU leverage in the trade negotiations. The EU took only what the President intended to give to them, while he received what he wanted.
TATTERS! Looks like Trump took Ursula to the cleaners. EU is a vassal to the US with few trading options left. EU cut off Russian resources. China meeting last week was a complete disaster. Trump held all the cards, and it showed. Check out the video of the meeting. Body language says it all.
Via Politico: Trump, reading from a paper, said the EU will agree to purchase $750 billion of energy. It will also agree to invest $600 billion more than planned in the U.S., in military equipment and in opening countries to trade at zero tariff.
The tariff rate applying to imports from the EU would be 15 percent, with the same rate applying to cars. Pharmaceuticals will not be covered by the deal. Trump also said that steel and aluminum would continue to be subject to 50 percent tariffs.
