With President Donald Trump capturing the overwhelming majority of middle-America within the new MAGA movement; essentially taking over the Republican party apparatus, I would consider that Musk’s assembly will likely be a collection of never-trumpers, alligator emojis and disgruntled former Republicans.
The impact is undetermined, but the assembly itself was entirely predictable.

After a lengthy career in education, I have taught many students with Asperger’s Syndrome. Their numbers are increasing (btw).
While each is unique, there is a consistent difficulty in boundaries, and socializing with others. They frequently are not adept at handling change, or maintaining relationships. Their affect – or lack of – can really come across as bizarre.
I was not surprised by Musk’s meltdown(s). He wants what he wants, and the hell with whoever thwarts his desires– Asperger’s in a nutshell.
Unlike numerous others, I did not find dragging little X to meetings endearing. Similarly, Musk, followed President Trump around like a little puppy. It appeared awkward to me.

On July 1st Sundance began one of several BBB related discussions. One somewhat minor line in particular hit me: “Musk is an evil person”.
My response included a personal reflection regarding Musk and his Asperger’s (very much informed by the fact that I have a family member who has it as well,) but it had to do more with what I see as something kind of new in Trump (and more to the point, done in a very public manner.)
There are a couple of great photos of them around the holidays 2024, seated at a table at Mar-a-Lago. I think that 45-47 actually liked and had respect

On Betrayal
At this point, Elon Musk has proved himself a Betrayer with a capital B. First he betrayed the left, and now he’s betrayed the right. He has, in fact, betrayed his country (whether born here or not) by his dealings with China.
So, it really makes me wonder… Are people so naïve that they think he won’t betray them, too? Do they think they’ll actually matter to him if they join his new party? That he won’t turn and do only what’s good for Elon at their expense?
It boggles my mind. It’s like meeting with a friend you haven’t seen in a while and finding out they’re dating someone that you both know has stepped out on every other person they’ve been with. You know that warnings will do no good, so all you can do is stand back and hope they survive the wreck.

Trump has NOT followed through on many promises that are core MAGA–cutting the federal budget, extricating the US from stupid, never-ending, massively expensive wars, cutting taxes, cutting spending, etc. Of course, there are a few areas he’s come through on.
Probably not a good idea to discount the Normal Americans who are not satisfied with this Trump administration’s implementation so far.
There could be quite a few defections to the American Party.
Totally agree with the first part only. There’s no possibility of “Trump” in 2028. This is the perfect time to move away from the uniparty. Not sure that current MAGA like Vance won’t move in the America Party direction. Worth a try as far as I can tell. Musk is looking for the middle 80%. I’m probably in the right 10%, but I’m okay with the concept.
I disagree that Trump hasn’t done the best possible in following through with his promised agenda. Perfection is not possible in our system — or any system, really.
I could of sworn that Musk needed to give time and attention to his businesses and was through with politics.
As I have written to Elon, the development of a new Party is not good! It is a distraction and will result in being devisive, pulling away good conservative Patriots away from the Republican Party. This will only embolden the Demonrats and work toward their benefit.
Better to sit down with a neutral, objective go-between that can negotiate terms that can be mutually agreed to. We all know the Republican Party needs straightening out, but don’t through out the baby with the bath water.
Larry knows which side of his bread is buttered. He will shut this down. Even otherwise, it’s unlikely to be more than a vanity project. Vance, Trump’s successor in waiting, is the Si valley darling and they are not going to flock to this loser effort. It’s doomed. And the worst case scenario for Elon may actually emerge if, for any reason, Dems win the midterms!
The good news is….
This gives MAGA and POTUS plenty of time to show how regarded Musk’s new party will be.
