Musk needs to back off. He is out of his element, doing more damage than good.
Does he have to be reminded that the USA is not a DEMOCRACY, but a constitutional REPUBLIC?
Elon divides his loyalty three ways. South Africa. Canada. USA. He values These United States of America so little he did not give his sole allegiance to America. We do not want to be sister wives with the countries he racks up citizenship with and promises allegience to. Dual citizenship is dual allegience. Dual allegience is forked-tongue. Dual citizen cannot and putting America first has same results as a parent favoring one child over another.
Elon cannot make a simple decision about his citizenship and people think he is serious about this decision of a new party? Is he gonna next start a new Canada Party? A South Africa Party?

The easy part for Elon was the recent FEC filing. It doesn’t give him access to being on the ballot of any state. Each state has its own byzanntine rules and time-consuming hurdles. He’ll face a flood of litigation over signatures to meet each state’s numbers and in the end after achieving ballot access everywhere he has to appeal for FEC final approval.
Remember when we didn’t know if the left would succeed in blocking Trump from being on the ballot of numerous states or whether the RNC would play dirty to deny him the nomination? A number of Treepers dug into what it would take for then candidate Trump to get on state ballots as an Independent or via starting a new party mid-stream.
Here’s what it takes in just one state, California for Elon’s new party to get on and stay on the ballot:
For example, in California, a new party must either register 0.33% of the state’s voters as members (approximately 75,000 people) or submit signatures from 1.1 million voters. Maintaining this status necessitates ongoing efforts, such as retaining the registration threshold or securing at least 2% of the vote in a statewide race.

This is why Elon is now saying he’ll initially (2026) focus on getting 2-3 Senate seats and 6-10 House seats which he thinks will be enough to swing legislation the way he wants.
I’d be more worried if instead of forming a new party, he had said he would form a PAC to essentially buy GOP candidates.
Elon made a mistake —by forming the America Party he runs afoul of campaign finance laws if he also tries to fund candidates thru a super PAC. A PAC cannot be associated with any party. Uh oh.
There are quite a number of third parties, but very few pass the hurdles to get and stay on state ballots. The Green Party is on the ballot of about half the states. Sporadically (about half a dozen elections) , the Libertarian Party has been able to put a candidate on the ballot in 50 states.
Just buying GOP candidates might have been more doable for Elon, given the midterms are so close.
Elon has shown he is not a mature adult. This makes him a national security risk.
Just to try and focus what is currently under discussion here, this is Musk’s stated initial plan for the America Party:

If one believes him, this is a pretty narrow concept to evaluate for pros and cons v. the broader “third-party”/”splitter” issue and anything else people may or may not like about Musk and his political goals.
Didn’t vote for Elon and I never would. This is blood libel between the two of them now. Nothing good will come of it. It was a mistake for MAGA to think he was ever on “our side” and all these weak conservatives looking for a “savior” it’s sad really.
He did not say for president.

When I watch Musk the word mercurial comes to mind.
PDJT destroyed the illusion of choice presented by the uniparty.
An illusion used by the rich and powerful to provide legitimacy to the self serving interests via their puppets.
Puppets that kickback a portion of their tax loot perpetuating this illegitimate system.
I was hoping Elon was a patriot like PDJT.
One understands the corruption above and how it is destroying those that actually make things work.
Musk wants his subsidies back. I thought he was telling the truth when he said he was working to help the country right itself after all his years of being a lefty.
I’ll try the new America Party. Too much Uniparty still engrained into Washington DC. If anything it will be entertaining.
BTW: Robert Barnes broke down the “middle class” tax savings in the Big Beautiful Bill.
Many have stipulations to them that will disqualify working class taxpayers. Even the Social Security “Deductions” only reduce our tax liability, the bill will not wipe out my tax liability or my friends.
The Uniparty won again.
The first time Musk had a falling out with Trump, Musk got over it in about a week.
This signals that this time there will be more getting over it.

Musk’s positions on these alone, will alienate him from many “centrists”.
His positions are untenable.
I saw someone put it well when they said, “He’s going to be on the wrong side of the majority of the 80%/20% issues.
Everybody here is missing what Sundance said – “Watch Larry Ellison.”
Musk isn’ the danger. The crew he fronts for is the danger, the real Technocracy zealots trying to move us to their terrible Eschaton.
Musk did some very good things in the couple of months that he was a Conservative. Then, when things did not go his way he reverted back to being a Liberal. He cried when things did not go his way, picked up his toys and went home. He’s acting like a child and losing friends and respect faster then even a billionaire can make them.
Elon is correct, we do live in a one-party system that depends on waste and graft.
That said, I’m extremely glad that Trump will be in office for another 3 1/2 years.
He’s imperfect like the rest of us but I’ll take his version of imperfect over anyone else I can think of right now that has a chance of being elected President of the United States of America.
