The final vote to pass the Big Beautiful Bill was 218 to 214. The vote was almost entirely along party lines. Only Republican Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-Ukraine) and Thomas Massie (KY-Sea Isl) joined Democrats in opposition to the bill.

The full Senate bill, and thus the one the House passed is 940 pages whereas the links for the various Senate committees are one-page summaries.
I will add, so those who celebrated believing they had somehow convinced Senators to remove the text from the House bill about selling between 0.25% to not more than 0.50% of public lands for use for home building, to be within 1 mile and not more than 5 miles from existing towns – that was premature celebration and there will be some very mad Trump supporters when they realize those provisions remain and can be found on pages 202-211 of the One Big Beautiful Bill.
I know some who post here now and then and that podcaster Shawn Ryan who had some environmentalist on his show the other day were all celebrating “because they were able to get those provisions removed” were lied to by whomever told them those provisions were removed because of their lobbying efforts; and so are going to be making a lot of angry sounds over the next few days.
These provisions in the text are actually good, extremely good and extremely needed and extremely important to the western States that need the land – but wanted those folks to have a heads up those provisions were never removed, and were never going to be removed.

Stripped Key Protection Against Illegals Getting Medicaid. Under current law, most illegal aliens are not supposed to be on Medicaid, but it is estimated that more than 1.5 million are receiving benefits (report). Sec. 71109 in the Senate bill does tighten the prohibition (which CBO does score as some savings, but consider that they also assume an unrealistic 90% compliance for the bill’s Medicaid work requirements). However, the Senate stripped out the teeth that penalize states that continue to fund Medicaid for illegal aliens with state dollars by reducing their federal reimbursement rate for able-bodied adults by 10%. ● Illegal Aliens with “Trump Accounts.” The Senate dropped the requirement that at least one of the parents of children obtaining the new “Trump Accounts” (tax-incentivized savings accounts that would receive $1,000 from the federal government under a pilot program created in the bill) have a valid Social Security Number. While children must be citizens under the bill, their parents may now be here illegally.

If the savings are truly incentivized (and it is a one time thing) … it seems like it could help stabilize banks from a sudden decrease in cash on hand due to millions being deported.
If they only give to children with valid SS numbers, they are citizens under the current law.

Illegals can get Medicaid from their state funding it, but Federal matching funds will not be given to the state if no proof of citizenship provided & also the employment/school/volunteer work requirements for able bodied males to receive Medicaid benefits. Will be difficult to prove work when unreported illegal labor is used, employer doesn’t report that payroll & so an illegal can’t prove it to get Medicaid, if he does prove it, it tips the ICE to employers using illegal labor. Also, Feds charging crimes on identity theft of those using Social Security Numbers that are not theirs to use. So it will be tough for illegals to get Medicaid, males or females or children, if states are starved of matching Federal Medicaid funds.
So, don’t fret about it.

A deduction is not a tax credit. A tax credit would have been much better. They set limits at 75 and 150,000 for singles and married couples.
Painfully, for what I’ve read, we seniors might only see about a 500 dollar difference. I hope I am very wrong because this is not what was promised. As many know, we are being killed in SS by taxes and that ain’t going to help.

A person that works 45-50 years, often putting in 48 to 60 hours a week, pays into the government insurance program, still has to pay for their own health insurance too, and then when they retire not only have to pay for their mandatory government health insurance for retirees, but still pay taxes so younger able bodied young people that refuse to work even twenty hours a week.
That is the real travesty Hakeem. I have no problem providing truly disabled people with insurance, as a society we should do that, but not people just to lazy to work.

What also galls me is that they put illegals onto Medicare, SNAP, Section 8, gave them driver’s licenses, ESL at schools, chain migration, “birthright citizenship”, HUD housing loans, bank accounts, “child tax credits” for children not living in the USA, and more.

Imagine being outraged that some able bodied person would have to work 20 hours a week. These people will be great for fast food, restaurants, meat packing plants, farms, janitorial/housekeeping, and all other sorts of traditionally low skilled jobs.
The illegals get way more than struggling veterans. That to is a real travesty. I served in a time of peace 1974-1978 in the US Coast Guard and was never severely ill or injured because of my duty but do sympathize with anyone who was injured or became ill because of doing their duty in service. Many injuries and illnesses are not combat related.
And they are being given $1,000 for “self-deportation.” That is not the mandate the American people gave to the Repub party & executive. No more US tax money for illegal migration. The heritage Americans are the ones paying for it.

Parents in our families lived to almost 100 years with very little income so we ended up paying for their care, as well, for many years….and with very little assistance. One set of parents came from Italy decades ago and we joked they needed to go back and return illegally to get all the benefits denied to them as citizens.
Seen and talked to many people who collect disability then they work under the table for other money. Remember one guy who did $500 a week plus for mechanic work in his garage but was and had been collecting SS disunity..
Not sure what happened with SS disability but it seems that it has become easier to get then it used to be.

What irks me about this is that it wasn’t made without a sunset. It should have been where it needs to be legislated to have all this end, rather than it dying by running out the clock so to speak.
Force those politicians to have to vote publicly to raise the taxes and reinstate all that was abolished by this bill.
When the left does things like raising tax rates, increasing give aways of our tax dollars to illegals, it never comes with an expiration date. Why does the right side of the aisle allow for these actions to be able to end just by a simple move of not renewing it?
