I looked to see what this tax was on and it is going to be quite difficult for Canada to assess this. How long would it take for surrender if the companies simply blocked Canada? I can’t imagine the riots if sites like TikTok, Facebook, Google (YouTube) and others just became 404 errors.
The DST targets revenue from:
Online marketplace services (e.g., platforms connecting buyers and sellers)
Online advertising services (including targeted ads)
Social media platforms
Sale or licensing of user data collected from Canadian users

The EU and European nations are by no means clean on this topic.
They use other means to “collect” via Legal Shakedowns in order to gain advantages over US Companies that avoids involving the US Government. How Chrystia Freeland created the Digital Services Confrontation with President Trump that ended Trade Negotiations
Digital Service Taxes were supposed to arrive under the (OECD’s) Pillar One2 solution via the multilateral convention (MLC). Eurocrats came up with the idea of such taxes.
30 nations had to ratify the MLC for digital services taxes to come into force. It has not been ratified yet.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland was so so pro these taxes she demanded them and Canada under Trudeau went rogue and imposed Digital Service taxes.
The Liberals fully caused this problem with the Chrystia Freeland being the author of today’s misfortune. Freeland is now transport minister but she should not be in cabinet at all. There is no grassroots support in Canada for a DST.

You want to use American doctors and hospital facilities or clinics, that will be $100 just to set foot in the place
