I think most agree that we do not want to see Iran gaining nuclear weapons power. However, most Americans also do not want to get pulled into a protracted conflict in the middle east again.
That’s an easy consensus to build. But it also suffers from a false analogy. G.W. Bush’s foray into Iraq may or may not have been necessary for America’s best interests. But what was incredibly STUPID, was the socialist US State Department deciding “what comes next”, which for faithful Marxist-Socialists, was “nation building”. However, even comparing that to the US WWII post war effort in Japan and Europe, misses a vital point. MacArthur had the good sense to WRITE Japan’s constitution, which de-established the Shinto Emperor as God and King in Japan. Of course, all of Europe and Japan became good socialist off-spring, but that’s another issue – refer to the progressive movement in the USA which began in the early 1900’s, and arguably culminated not with the LBJ “great society”, but FDR/Truman’s “new deal” socialism, which has governed US tax and spend policies for over a century.
Back on point, the nation building post Iraq and Afghanistan was ludicrous. I don’t have to tell you about it – LBGT+ priorities for Afghan schools? First. As I recall, because of its proximity to Iran, we got all our military out of Doha last week. Seeing the writing on the wall, I expect Qatar got all of its folks out at the same time. So – did Iran just respond by attacking the equivalent of an abandoned shopping mall? And if they did, so what? No casualties, no harm no foul, let them save some face with their jihad friends and we’re done.
Second. After Israel’s first strike on Iran we all found out that Israel had some double agents way at the top of the upper command structure of Iran. We also know that Israel really, really, really wants the US to join them in a war against Iran, to make it America’s war. So – put the two together, and thus my question: does Israel still have highly placed double agents within Iran’s command structure that could cause an order to be given to attack American interests in order to bait the US into a massive response that would effectively make this OUR war? Would attacking an abandoned military base be the perfect act?
It could be theatrics, allowing Iran to “symbolically ” attack to save face like they did after Solemani was obliterated.

Sundance’s description of this being a tenuous moment is spot on. Largely because the calls to move from phase 1 – bomb the bunkers – to phase 2 which is join Israel’s regime-change war will intensify.
