My background thoughts are HERE, but boy howdy does this picture encapsulate the dynamic.
And yes, King Charles waxed eloquently in both French and English about the terrible issue that Canadian sovereignty is facing.
The same issue, albeit to a lesser -but increasing- extent, is the core impetus between U.S. President Trump’s manufacturing policies in the USA. President Trump is urgently attempting to rebuild a collapsed industrial manufacturing base. However, from the leftist position of Canada, the easier route that affords them the ability to chase the green energy rainbows is to retain a dependency manufacturing model. These are political decisions.
At the core of this dynamic you will find the reason why President Trump is likely to dissolve the U.S/Mex/Canada (USMCA) trade agreement and instead turn toward two independent bilateral trade agreements between the USA-Mexico and USA-Canada. Extend this reasonably accurate predictive economic reality to its logical conclusion and you see why the U.K wants to help bolster Canada.

Listened to the King live and was surprised that he dictated economic policies for Canada, that were similar to America First Trump policies. He wants to unleash a plethora of economic growth, but also hire more RCMP and other govt. types to enforce policies. Removal of inter-province regulations and cutting permitting time are a few examples of the granularity that his proposals outlined. The MP’s must now draft legislation to streamline this new economic frontier for Canada, which is their last hope. The Crown will probably “loan” billions to Canada for their Renaissance, putting them in debt for decades to come. Not dissimilar to our economic debt future, but we determine our future, the King determines theirs.
His mention of indigenous people seemed like pandering because they are the stewards of the lands, and he wants more environmental protection and Natl. Parks. He barely mentioned the Quebecois, who have always been trying to escape the Crown. Their push for secession decades ago, partly stemmed from the economic burden the Crown places on French Canadians. They are definitely a thorn in the King’s side and their French history precludes them from bowing to a British King. The speech was a wake up call to Canadians, who are now realizing they are not sovereign, but are in debt to a King.
One’s loyalty to the Crown, or a Rebel Freedom Fighter, was the basis for the US Revolution and is what separates Canadians from Americans. You’d be surprised how many people do not know our history, or Canadian history which is inextricably linked. Today, young Canadians are questioning their loyalty to a King and now understand why their taxes are so high. He surely collected a nice check and possibly bags of gold, before returning to Merry Olde England.
My guess is Canadians will see their taxes increase again, to pay for this new Royal Plan.

As the owner of a small USA business, we have enjoyed shipping international 15 to 20% of our orders for many years. But in the last few years this has become more and more difficult. A month ago we shipped an order to a Canadian customer. It was only $33. UPS put a $20 shipping on it. When the customer got their product they had to pay $56 in fees and tariffs on a $33 product.
Shipping to EU for the last few years is almost impossible due to new restrictions. They want us to give them our tax information before allowing us to ship there. And pay fees up front. Some EU countries we have never been able to ship to. Italy has a rule that anything that can be made in Italy can’t be imported. So just about nothing but literature qualifies. Yet they have a huge leather furniture industry there which ships to the USA as a main customer. I sit on their leather furniture every night. I’m sure they would be lost without USA tourists. Kind of ironic. Punish them Trump.
