President Trump’s patience with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is obviously wearing thin. However, the key for President Trump to change the dynamic; the thing he is inarguably trying to avoid; is a full U.S withdrawal and subsequent isolation for Zelenskyy.

“Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is boasting on the front page of The Wall Street Journal that, “Ukraine will not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea. There’s nothing to talk about here.”
This statement is very harmful to the Peace Negotiations with Russia in that Crimea was lost years ago under the auspices of President Barack Hussein Obama, and is not even a point of discussion. Nobody is asking Zelenskyy to recognize Crimea as Russian Territory but, if he wants Crimea, why didn’t they fight for it eleven years ago when it was handed over to Russia without a shot being fired? The area also houses, for many years before “the Obama handover,” major Russian submarine bases.
It’s inflammatory statements like Zelenskyy’s that makes it so difficult to settle this War. He has nothing to boast about! The situation for Ukraine is dire — He can have Peace or, he can fight for another three years before losing the whole Country.
I have nothing to do with Russia, but have much to do with wanting to save, on average, five thousand Russian and Ukrainian soldiers a week, who are dying for no reason whatsoever. The statement made by Zelenskyy today will do nothing but prolong the “killing field,” and nobody wants that! We are very close to a Deal, but the man with “no cards to play” should now, finally, GET IT DONE.

Regardless of whether President Trump officially removes support, it is highly likely the U.S. Intelligence Community, specifically the CIA, will disregard the administration policy and continue supporting the Ukraine war.
The EU, Great Britain, U.K intelligence agencies, CIA, NATO allies, Israel and the U.S. Senate all want to keep the perpetual war machine in motion. All of them have financial stakes in the conflict. The only western entity that wants to stop the bloodshed and carnage is President Trump.
President Trump is ultimately going to have to cut this gordian knot and shut down all U.S support for Ukraine. However, he will need CIA Director John Ratcliffe to bring the rogue silo to heel, while he directly confronts the other Five Eyes.
That will not be easy.

Trump doesn’t really need to make a deal with Ukraine. He could make a deal with Russia that sets the geographic boundaries in Ukraine. I don’t think Russia takes anymore Ukrainian territory if they have normalized relations with the U.S., which includes a trade agreement. The U.S. can access rare earth materials in Russia, so Ukraine is not really that important. The CIA operations in Ukraine would stop if an agreement is not signed with Ukraine. Trump has plenty of tools at his disposal if the CIA doesn’t stand down.
I was thinking something similar. The real powers in the war are the US and Russia. Truth is the Ukraine has no real control. Trump and Putin could make the deal without Ukraine.

The US and EU and its countries can and should make suggestions in private to Ukraine, but Ukraine is the party that has the sole right to make decisions affecting its land and its future and gets to make offers and suggestions to the Russian Federation, at least in 2025. The US should adjust its money flow and weapons spigots according to Ukrainian and Russian Federation reasonableness. The European state friends of Ukraine can do likewise.

His comments on the subject evolved over the years and were not entirely consistent, but he definitely regretted it. At one point he said he should not have authorized creation of it at all, and at another said it was the Operations Directorate that should not have been created. But he did not hate this country. He was at least from a time when most Democrat leaders were still patriots, even if wrong much of the time. That’s a good point about trying to drive Trump away in frustration, but not just for the talking point of him failing to end the war as promised, but to get the official USG out of the way while the IC continues to support it. What were the US peace proposals that were going to be presented? Here is a list from The Telegraph, which seems to have a more complete list than others, summarized from Moon of Alabama:
Points one and two cover an immediate ceasefire and direct talks between Ukraine and Russia.
Point three requires Ukraine to refrain from seeking membership of Nato, though the country could join the EU. European countries could deploy an assurance force, but there is no US security guarantee for any deployment.
Point four covers territory, with America offering de jure recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea. (Note: There are numerous lucrative natural gas fields around Crimea.)
The nuclear power station at Zaporizhiye, currently held by Russian forces, would be transferred to American control.
Point six, Ukraine would sign the minerals deal allowing US companies access to the country’s natural resources.
Point seven, all US sanctions would be lifted on Russia and the two countries could begin to co-operate on energy.
I don’t see a whole lot that either Russia or Ukraine would want as part of a peace deal.
Zaporozhye is safest with Russia, and as you note, Russia would not take kindly to being babysat in such fashion.
However, the US running all remaining nuclear reactors in Ukrainian territory, outside of those lost to all of her long-suffering neighbors, makes perfect sense.

According to two sources (Militarysummary channel and Slavyangrad) Zelensky has promised France/EU and the UK that Ukraine will draft another 600,000 soldiers including ages down to 20-year-olds and women in exchange for 100 billion euros.
Trading money for lives would allow Zelensky to stay in power, thwart President Trump’s peace efforts, and continue the conflict for another year or so.
It raises the question whether this would be a mobilization reserve (probably not) for new units. This force would most likely be used to plug holes, calling into question just how many Ukrainians have really died. A million would not be a stretch by looking at the number 600,000 that Zelensky says he needs.
