Folks, I know this is going to be hard, but we must remain steadfast in bearing the burden of new tariffs for our essential items. Hermes has announced they will pass along the cost of President Trump’s tariffs to consumers.
Currently, Hermes branded purses ranging from $20,000 to $200,000 are purchased by a whopping 0.001% of Americans, yet 90% of wives for Wall Street hedge fund managers have them.
Yes, this is going to be a painful price increase; however, it is our patriotic duty to withstand it. We can survive it.
NEW YORK – […] The Paris-based company — which manufactures the vast majority of its goods in France — will raise prices enough to offset any hit to growth from the current 10% tariff on the European Union, according to Eric du Halgouet, Hermes’ executive vice president of finance.
If Hermes adds the 10% tax, US shoppers could pay an additional $2,000 on a lower-cost model, or an extra $20,000 on a $200,000 handbag. (read more)
If you have any tips or advice on how to deal with increased emotional anxiety as a result of this horrific announcement, please provide your words of wisdom in the comments section. If we lean on each other for support, we can get through this.
“Reciprocity! The nerve of that man.”

Well if this doesn’t just *Demand* that articles of impeachment be drawn up, *Forthwith*, then I just don’t know what’s gonna do it…
…- Spare a thought for all the poor ‘Leets who’re going to have to tighten their purse strings, going forward, tho’…
My Tariff Tip is to run and buy 2, maybe 3 more Hermes bags, immediately! This way you will avoid any pending tariff increases!!
Now that’s my Tariff Tip.
My advice is to NOT tell your husband, but you can blackmail the man whose mistress you are into buying them for you!!
You go, girl!!
(oops. I have a typo in my name. MaineCoon here😻😻)
*FIFY…. 🙂
Tariffs on handbags like these?
I can fix those zippers for ya, Nan.
Looks like an old K-Mart special.
Which bag are you referring to ?
Hard to be sure…..Hermes was the Greek god to protect thieves (among other duties of course). So could be either one.
From the linked article:

🤨
$5000!
That’s the cost of a single night with an escort.
Someone’s gonna have belt tighten during these difficult times.
We are in this together!!!!
Crap, I’m at 49,000. Thought I was only 1,000 away from getting my manbag, now I’m screwed. /cry
Like the old saying goes, if you have to ask the price…
Never get tired of Sundance’s sense of humor…
Breaking Snews: Judge Bozoberg just issued a TRO to prevent this price increase. 🤷♂️🤔🤣🤣🤣
… – “Paging Liz Warren, Liz Warren please report to the Senate chamber. Liz Warren…”
First it was eggs. Now this. Should I buy a dozen eggs to decorate for Easter or buy the Hermes? Grandkids want the egg hunt. Wife wants the purse.
Dang you Trump!!!! It was bad enough that Biden made eggs unaffordable, now Trump makes a purse unaffordable.
Guess it’s time to get grannie’s sow’s ear purse out and put it to good use.
MAHA:… – Make Affordable Hermes Again!!…
… – *Yay*!
I would prefer jewelry personally. I am glad I am not rich as I can’t imagine that world, and I wouldn’t want to be so snobby. I do like full grain leather bags and have bought from Go Forth Goods, for example. There are many independent, made in the US bag makers for a few hundred bucks instead of the price of a car.
I can’t believe I voted for this.
Good Lord! We can’t cut our margin (99.5%)! Hermes knows its customer base NEVER shops for price, they are paying for the brand.
99.9% of the people who would buy such products ARE the problem in the world today.
Personally, I am focusing on trying to help President Trump by limiting my purchases to items made in the USA.
I am reading every label at the grocery stores and either eliminating items or searching for the same item from the USA. There are a few things I won’t give up like Irish butter but maple syrup comes from Vermont as well as Canada.
We need to set up a GoFundMe for the millionaires and billionaires
I’m devastated. I’m struggling to afford my much higher house payment and food cost, but this…this is just too much. I had my heart set on one of those gawd awful looking bags for $7,000. Trump is taking this just too far!
If y’all think them rich sumbiatches are gonna take this lying down:
“In 1990 a 10% luxury tax was applied to boats in the U.S. and the results were disastrous. Over 25,000 boating industry jobs were lost and a tax that was supposed to generate millions of additional government revenue actually cost the government revenue. Fortunately, Congress was quick to acknowledge the damage they were causing, and the tax was repealed. Unfortunately, before the repeal was enacted it severely damaged many American families.”
The rich can be cheap AF, so I’m thinking Hermes gonna be feeling some pain with this.
Also a good example of why soaking the rich doesn’t necessarily work the way you think it will.
What is the actual production cost of a $200,000 handbag anyways?
The markup for branding must be insane, and well beyond a 10% tariff increase. Raising the price to offset a tariff reflects Hermes’ greed as well as an attempt to agitate its hivemind consumers by punishing them.
Also, not one person buying even a mere $20,000 handbag is a “shopper.” These people have buyers, stylists, dressers, assistants, and various other lackeys. Using the term shopper is a deliberate attempt to conflate hand bag socialites with middle/working class people buying $18 egg cartons.
How much is a Hermes scarf worth?
ask the scarf jab lady.😳
I will deal by re-watching The Bonfire of the Vanities.
I LOVE THAT SERIES! Based on True events in fact.
And they said Trump wouldn’t tax the rich.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
👏👏👏👏👏
Hilarious!!!! Wait for the tone deaf Dems to use this as a talking point.
Well, I had just a lttle bit of the bad luck blues this week.
I had finally settled on the decision to purchase the candy apple red Lamborghini I had been thinking about for the past few days, when my wife asked if I would mind if she purchased a $200,000.00 purse she had seen advertised that day in a new magazine, To Hell With Tariffs Now.
I was a tiny bit taken aback by her request as she rarely buys purses that cost more than $170,000.00. But, as usual, I kept my cool and told her that would be fine, Darling.
Three days later I changed my mind and bought for my self a jet black Lamborghini, and the candy apple red model for my 4th mistress, whose name is Candy. She is perfectly happy to sport a more modest $120,000.00 purse with a special silk lined interior pouch for her $1200.00 sunglasses.
Of course, my wife was somewhat jealous, so I surprised her with a 4 million dollar sailing yacht and a small crew to man it.
All’s well that ends well, I say.
Seriously though, I just bought another gun and ain’t nobody takin’ it.
Thus I end my cheap shot at humor with best regards to my fellow Treepers, one and all.
I did not know these handbags cost as much as Rachel Levine’s sex change surgery. At least the bags are high quality.
his…or hers?
Saddle soap should help those Hermes leather lover lunatics, AND–many more doses of Sundance sarcasm!!!!!!
KEEP PISSIN ‘EM OFF POTUS, I’m LOVING every minute of it, bringing main street back, building things IN AMERICA, keep up the great work. My attitude is “Don’t worry they’ll get over it!” Loving those eggs and reduced energy costs!
BTW, don’t need or want no friggin’ “man bag”!
Oh, such a pity. I was really strongly thinking about empty the bank account and getting my missus one of these lovely trinkets. Possible destitution can’t stop me!
As the Greek god of commerce, can’t Hermes cut a deal? Of course as the Greek god in charge of protecting thieves, well what the heck, raise the price further, blame orange man.
Just move down to cut-rate caviar.
Let’s be practical. The price at which Hermes brings these goods into the US is most probably way, way, way below the retail price at which it sells them. The tariff applies to the import price. The price increase isn’t going to be 10% of the retail price.
Sundance, I sure appreciate your heart for those unfortunate rich people who will have to spend more. /s
Anyone…no exceptions…who would spend $50,000 on a handbag…is one sick POS…
