Folks, I know this is going to be hard, but we must remain steadfast in bearing the burden of new tariffs for our essential items. Hermes has announced they will pass along the cost of President Trump’s tariffs to consumers.
Currently, Hermes branded purses ranging from $20,000 to $200,000 are purchased by a whopping 0.001% of Americans, yet 90% of wives for Wall Street hedge fund managers have them.
Yes, this is going to be a painful price increase; however, it is our patriotic duty to withstand it. We can survive it.
NEW YORK – […] The Paris-based company — which manufactures the vast majority of its goods in France — will raise prices enough to offset any hit to growth from the current 10% tariff on the European Union, according to Eric du Halgouet, Hermes’ executive vice president of finance.
If Hermes adds the 10% tax, US shoppers could pay an additional $2,000 on a lower-cost model, or an extra $20,000 on a $200,000 handbag. (read more)
If you have any tips or advice on how to deal with increased emotional anxiety as a result of this horrific announcement, please provide your words of wisdom in the comments section. If we lean on each other for support, we can get through this.
“Reciprocity! The nerve of that man.”

As I usually buy one for myself and several for my friends, I am devastated by this announcement. 😎
We need to start a “Me Too” movement.
Or maybe a GoFundMe for those who are REALLY devastated…..
Well darn, there goes my Christmas shopping budget!/s
For the record, I would not be able to afford the shopping bag to carry it out of the store.
I’m in great company! 😂
Things are going to hell in a handbag…
That is GENIUS, mspsgt!
Are the Vapors not being tarriffed?
Oh, well done 😁 👍🏻
I hyperventilated seeing the price before the increase. Luckily Hermes branded purses start as low as $20,000.
I’ve been living with my $20 wallet I bought 20 years ago… still working.
I am the World Record Holder for the Sitting High Jump event, Paul.
I never even twitched at the news 😂
Now, had it been an increase in property taxes?
I would have broken my own record…
My mother used to advise me to buy the best piece of clothing I could afford, even if that was only one time a year, and it would last. I have found this to be true. Sounds as if you followed that dictum. Long may your purchase continue intact to serve 👍🏻
(And this…my husband’s wallet is the same age as yours and is still as resilient as it was the day I bought it for him.)
Hubby had to say good bye to his a couple of years ago. It fell apart in his hands. It was a sad day.
Oh boy, sis!! I understand exactly. Condolences…
Before reading this, I’ll bet you didn’t know how deprived and underprivileged you were with your $20 wallet, right PaulnotSaul? 😉 I know I didn’t. I guess I’m WOKE now when it comes to handbags, thanks to Sundance.
………………………………. Ok, I’m over it now
I’m still using my Wally World wallet with a Remington shotgun casing on it!
My rubber band works on driver license, conceal carry, credit card, cash
I’m wit you BJ… I’m typing from my couch…
Hahahahahahahahaaaaaa!!!
(I’d be happy to share my smelling salts 😉)
Maybe you can still get the volume discount??
Good one
Good one!
Yeah. Damn. That hurt.
Matthew 19:24 in the Bible “Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
Hermes is going to kick themselves when they realize that they could have been charging that extra 10% to their clients all along.
They sell to people who will gladly show off their Hermes bags purchased AFTER the tariffs to let others know that they have so much money that even a tariff won’t slow them down. It will be another show of wealth.
The money that they spend on an Hermes bag is money they found between their couch cushions.
Sell your Tesla, but buy a hermes bag, cause “Trump”.
I swear, the lubtards are programmed to drink the kool-aid, if told to.
People with way more money than sense.
You beat me to it, Hoo vol. BTW, I could call myself Hokie Hoo.
Tough combo.
i am familiar with that saying as:
“money – no brains, no taste.”
it’s bandied about quite a bit in this area, with good reason.
now, avoiding the sin of envy, i hope,
i am very happy for the well-heeled –
they are unlikely to be a financial burden on the rest of us.
but honestly, money does not buy you superiority, or raise your IQ .
$200K for a purse qualifies as intellectually disabled IMO.
and you’d have to get another one every year, because, as we all know,
LAST YEAR’S JUST WON’T DO!😂😂
My dad said “more money than brains!” We were po’ folk!
Trump is a monster.
Does Hermes make a stylish ‘kitty carrier’?
I prefer the saddlery, myself…
https://www.hermes.com/us/en/content/329243-bespoke-equestrian/
There is that word again…’bespoke’….
I’ll see myself out….
Ladies…the equestrian or the horse are well worth the click to view the advertising video…
OK out now, LOL….
That’s a fine looking stallion right there, no doubt about it Aggie… 😉
That horse was awesome!
“Does Hermes make a stylish ‘kitty carrier’?”
That would be “le porte chat” if you want to order one! 😉
I don’t see anything for les chats, but le porte doggo is a steal at $2,675!

That’s the last straw. I’m out.
What in God’s name are rich, shallow, bored wives going to do now?
…- Neck *Even Moar* fine wine, I’m betting.
Probably Sgt Oddball.
Lots more booze and gobs of cocaine might get them through this horror.
Vote for Biden
What next…domestic caviar on their fish tacos instead of Beluga?
Yup, an absolute, totalitarian, pernicious, hitleresque monster.
Godzilla!
Apparently it cost 1000$ to produce them in China. The rest is just the brand 3000% markup.
$1000? I would have guessed $25 bucks including materials and labor (unless there’s actual gold in it).
They have to use top of the line material it’s a real luxury product. There’s clips on X circulating from those Chinese factories offering the same bags without the logos for 1500$ or so
Real Hermes are made in France.
I actually have a real Hermes bag….I guess it just went up in value.
Yes. Anything else is not a genuine Hermes bag.
Maybe Macron is running out to get wife Brigette a Hermes bag right now. I’m sure he’ll threaten to tariff the bags himself to pay off the debt.
They are made in France. It takes one craftsmen like 2 weeks of work hours to produce the higher cost bags. Hermes sells a lot more than bags though.
Must be some seriously sorry craftsmen.
Actually a lot of it is the stitching – it has to be perfect. Fakes are usually obvious because of poor stitching.
$1,000 stitching… my my smh
You’d probably go into shock if you went on the Purse Blog. Lots of rich women who go into enormous detail about their expensive purses. It’s NUTS! But in a way these are investments. I got an Hermes in the early 80s as a gift and it was about 2k then and it must be worth about 20k now.
https://www.purseblog.com/
I just paid off last year’s heating bill. I don’t feel sympathy for Hermes customers.
My house payment just went up $100 more per month because of property tax increase. Guess I should sell my house and buy a purse.
LOL, Lindy. Reminds me of our family’s favorite line freom The Honeymooners: “Let’s take that money we were saving for a new car and blow it on a movie!”
Sympathy lies somewhere between sh*t and syphilis in the dictionary!
On substack, this IS a thing, actually.
Some began posting videos of english speaking chinese people, explaining that the chinese knock-offs of hermes, prada, etc. high end luxury products are made at the SAME chinese factories, same people, same supply sources, etc. and that people are only paying $5,000 instead of $500, for the name.
Then other poster posted videos saying how this shows how the tariffs are actually helping Americans, because we were paying too much, then others are businessmen saying how they develop a product, and a market, then go to China to produce, and by day the Chinese factory produces product for THEM, but at nite produces product that it sells to undercut them.
Its all over substack, been watching it the last few days,…
“high end luxury products are made at the SAME chinese factories, same people, same supply sources, etc. and that people are only paying $5,000 instead of $500, for the name.”
True, this is well known by folks who did and do business there.
Absolutely true.
Was in South Korea about 10 years. Was taken to an underground store (literally) that sold “Louis Vuitton” purses.
Every detail down to the box packaging, the protective paper wrap, and certain tells like a seam along the handle or a stitch inside the main compartment were identical to the genuine article. They were either the best counterfeits I have ever seen or they were overrun (nighttime production as you mentioned) of the real thing. Not sure if those came from China or were made there in Seoul, but that was a decade ago. I’m sure the quality has only improved. These were $2000-3000 purses back home that were selling for 10-15% of that.
Dutch, I have had many conversations around this, and it always starts with someone I’m with pointing at someone’s purse, shoes, jeans, belt, etc. (usually Gucci) and saying it’s a fake.
I always ask, Oh, how do you know? And the conversation is off. I always ask, “Is it a fake? If the same company, i.e., manufacturer in China, makes the real deal for Gucci but then turns around after they meet the quota as required by the PO, to then produce them for themselves to sell on the black market, is it a fake? I mean, Gucci isn’t selling it, but it’s the Gucci design made using the same materials at the same factory using the original OEM specs and tooling to make it. No, it’s a Gucci but distributed by someone with far less overhead, thus a very discounted price.”
The arguments they try to make, saying that it’s still a knock-off, are ludicrous because it’s not a knock-off, if produced using the same materials, under the same design, and by the same manufacturer.
I used to work on forklifts (USA), I am a first hand witness to the same product put into different packaging in factories that have their own name on it making products for whomever may be branding it, was a big wake-up call for me.
When working in one specific one @ shift change, I asked who do I find to sign my paperwork when I am done?
A. If they look like they speak English that is probably the shift manager. (in the late 1990’s even)
There are some things I wish I never found out about either, especially the food manufacturing facilities. <shudder>
How many more billions will Zelenskyy’s wife now need, to get back on the cover of Vogue?
Here are mine. 😂😂😂😂😂😎😎😎😎😎😎🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠
“We are all in this together.”
Sigh.
Not Hermes.
The horror!!!!
I will curl up in my closet in a fetal position while sucking my thumb
There’s an easy solution: just stop buying groceries.
Now – back outside to finish mowing the lawn.
….oh!…. (one more edit)…. and start a Go Fund Me…
Quick, stab a white kid so that you can rake in a half million easy peasy.
Im pretty sure I saw a picture of Zelenskys wife shopping with one of those bags around her shoulder. Because thats what rich people do during times of “war” to cope with the “millions of dead soldiers”.
In stressful times like these when all the French items I constantly consume go up in price (just ordered two more accordions) I beat my sweatshop slaves harder so they make more money for me. Yes, I let them eat more cake. I’m not heartless! But I no longer give them champagne since that went up 10% in price, too. It’s not easy being elite. You people just wouldn’t understand.
Are they getting frosting on the cake?
Sacré bleu!
Oh man, there goes my xmas shopping list…
OH NOES … !!!
How shall I ever afford my Concorde ticket to visit the Grandchillen’ on Christmas now … ?!?!?!!!
WHAT?? YOU SAY THE CONCORDE DOESN’T FLY ANYMORE .. ?? !! Must be Trump’s fault …. yes ???
Muffin !! MUFFIN !! Dahling … get me my smoking jacket and a Martini while I ponder all this horrific news .. ??!!

In the early days of the ‘pandemic’ I remember reading stories of cities in northern Italy and parts of France where there was a very high incidence rate of hospitals being inundated with patients that had come down with the covid-19 virus.
Within those stories were comments by the news reporters that those cities hardest hit were ones with very high Chinese laborers sewing the expensive handbags and couture garments being sold by the famous fashion houses – by using cheap foreign labor, the Chinese citizens that they could pay less $ to for their labors, having recently returned from their trips to their homeland China back into those two nations.
Hard to find any sympathy for those having to pay the additional costs.
“having recently returned from their trips to their homeland China back into those two nations.”
I remember that.
“Authorities” investigating the rapid spread of the Wuhan zeroed in on people that traveled back to the home country [China] for a holiday.
I had a friend in northern Italy at the time. She said that it was predominantly affecting the elderly early on in the plandemic.
Ground Zero from my town in SW Missouri, was a group of ChiCom nationals traveling around eating in the most popular restaurants. This is a fact reported by our county Health Department, and of course the local media suppressed it.
The poor gays…
Oh no! I have to take a Hermes Birkin bag off my wish list? What on earth will I do?
Hermes has a new DEI bag called the His-mes, It’s really popular with the Democrats.
😬
…- Soon to be followed by ‘Theymes’ and ‘Xermes’, no doubt.
When I was in High School, the in thing was a barracuda jacket and a Gant shirt! Being po’ folk, I could only afford the cheap imitations! I was lucky to own a pair of US Keds sneakers!
“yet 90% of wives for Wall Street hedge fund managers have them.”
If they are being purchased by husbands as gifts, well then if they REALLY love the woman than they will make the financial sacrifice and cough up the extra coin.
If the wives do not want to pony up to pay the surcharge, I guess they will have to switch to another fashion accessory to virtue signal others that they belong to the club.
Meh! Just get a knock off from CHYYNA
The Vegas Lamborghini dealership has a new sign: “If you have to ask, you can’t afford one.” Oh wait a minute, that was an old sign.
That’s it. I’ve had enough! I regret ever voting for Trump. 😂
If this doesn’t turn the base against him, nothing will
I never thought anything would make me turn from him but he been gone there and done it with this. He is finished.
Yes! The walls are surely closing in on Trump this time. 🙂
A new business ! Hermes stickers ( misspell Paris ) that you can put on anything, “after” you purchase of course. Sell for 3.00 apiece. Would stick one on my gun safe – become another Bezos.
The people who buy stuff like this are “mentally ill” a perfect personification of Orwells Theory, as they so worry about the poor,
and downtrodden, while buying a piece of Cow leather with a stamp on it.
Hey, a lot of hard working, uh, slaves, are proud of their leather stampings!
…- Will the 3 bucks include stamp tax?
Oh the humanity!
I buy many each year and use them as decorative flower pots around my cottage in the Adirondack Mountains, the estate left to me by my great-gran Vanderbilt.
I feel for you Tony if you’re related to Anderson Pooper.
Andy is a wonderful guy! He laughs so hard when he tells us all the lies he tells the little people.
Good times around the campfire with the servants keeping our glasses full, and making sure the mosquitoes never bite and our marshmallows never fall off our hand-crafted, solid platinum fire tongs.
.
Ohforheavenssake the solution to this is just so simple. Leave the Hermes bags in the house in France or flat in London, and otherwise just make do with a custom piece manufactured in the U.S.
.
Melania is a collector of Hermes bags. The President will spring for the price hike. He wants her to be happy and the economy to be healthy.
This recklessness cant go on….think of those poor hedge fund wives and mistresses.
We regret our vote! NOT!!!
/sarc
To avoid feeling deprived…oh my !!…
the consumer demand for grocery / big box store plastic or paper bags (re-usable) is
about to increase. We sure hope that there is enough supply to meet the new demand (of cost conscious hermes bag carrier wanna-be’s)
p.s.
if we used a magic marker and wrote h r p e s on the reusable bags, would that help us to become a part of the club – to keep us in sync with the nonsensible one upmanship games of the jone’s ?
If not,
what would people whisper?
oh my…
[ does it matter? ]
end sarcasm
Holy week is here.
People had a lot of whispers at that time too. ( a bigger matter in the big picture )
Having worked at the homes of the wealthy all the way to the “don’t look anyone in the eye if you want to keep your job Wealthy” for a decade and a half I can tell you they never seem to have time to enjoy all the fancy stuff they buy.
Many purchases of luxury items I could only dream of affording are used a few times or not at all to be relegated to storage.
Many of my former employees seemed like they had lost the ability to have fun as they had already been to everywhere and done everything. The only thing that got them going was making more money.
“The only thing that got them going was making more money”
That seems to be an issue in Washington.
Old fossils on the door step of death are still shuffling around there, instead of fading off to oblivion to start spending the millions of dollars they have stashed away over the decades.
Luke 12:16-23 KJV
And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: [17] And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
[18] And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
[19] And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
[20] But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
[21] So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
[22] And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
[23] The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
“they never seem to have time to enjoy all the fancy stuff they buy.”
I know a family of old school bricklayers/ custom stonemasons of Italian descent that work on the homes of wealthy clients.
The clients often brag about many things and spending money on themselves, but when it comes time to pay hard working laborors then they suddenly turn into stingy tightwads.
1 Timothy 6:5-10 KJV
Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
[6] But godliness with contentment is great gain.
[7] For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
[8] And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
[9] But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
[10] For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Haha!
like goldie hawn in “overboard”, having to get her yacht repaired in elk snout.
Lol
I LOVE THAT MOVIE!!!
You are actually funny. I did chuckle.
Teeheehee. If you can pay $50,000 for a purse, you can easily pay $55,000.
“If you have to ask how much it costs, you simply cannot afford it”..
“Let them eat…purses!!
When the markup is 100 gazillion percent willingly paid by status seekers with more money than they could possibly spend in a lifetime, of course the tariff impact will be low. I’m sure they could have just eaten the $5k markup, but just used the tariffs as an excuse to make an extra $5k. Their customers won’t care.
“Made in France by artisans.”
Like these artisans, which, BTW, was probably why Italy was hit so early and so hard by the PLA/CCP bioweapon? That and their moronic PC leaders telling their people to hug a Chinese to counter possible non-PC treatment.
The Chinese Workers Who Assemble Designer Bags in Tuscany
Many companies are using inexpensive immigrant labor to manufacture handbags that bear the coveted “Made in Italy” label.

Go get a second job! That’s what we do to feed our families.
Are life and liberty so dear or the pursuit of happiness so sweet as to be purchased at the price of losing our Hermes purses? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me Hermes purses, or give me death!
Or something like that.
The only way one of these purses is worth $20,000 dollars is if it comes with $19,950 in cash already in it.
Herpes? No thanks.
🤣 🤣 😂 😂
Never heard of the brand, and I doubt my wife has either. I don’t think I’ve ever paid that much for a car let alone a purse. I think we’ll weather the storm.
Now as for the folks on the other side of the looking glass, one never can tell…
If you buy your Hermes purses in bulk you can save a few hundred thousand dollars, trust me, I’m saving a few dollars by buying my green coffee beans in bulk. They are not Hermes beans but to me, they have more value than a purse.
Where do you source your green beans??
I’m going to buy 10 so that my Tariff charge goes to reducing our national debt. I want to do my part. In fact heck just put into the new tax plan that all 1% earners have to purchase this handbag. It’s our duty.
To be able to afford the extra $$$ on the purses, I guess they’ll have to switch to domestic caviar instead of Beluga on their fish taco Tuesdays.
But, how will I afford sorghum meal and dried, powdered milk for the children?
EBT cards and SNAP program?
An EBT card, or Electronic Benefits Transfer card, is a payment card used in the United States to access government benefits, such as food assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and cash benefits. It functions like a debit card, allowing recipients to purchase eligible items at participating retailers.
Cash is for beer, booze, tobacco, luxury cars and luxury hand bags.
The ATMs at shady Indian Gas Stations here in Florida have a neat little icon that reads “Try Your EBT Card Here” above a stack of money on the face or the machine!
Three hedge fund managers’ wives went to a ballgame, and snuck in a fifth of whiskey.
It was the bottom of the 5th, and the bags were loaded….
This will be devastating to the small businesses that sell these. Listen for this assessment in the MSM.
My wife informed me Walmart only raised their handbags 49 cents because of the tariffs and if she cuts onions out of our grocery bill for a week she can still afford to get that new handbag! It will be tough on the family but we love her so will sacrifice.
Regardless of price, I think its the death of luxury brands and advertising.
Its all brainwashing BS!
There are some who say they are made in China. (!?)
The ones being peddled on a New York street corner for $20.00 are made in china, probably in the same factory.
My wife and daughter like Louis Vuitton, and I hear they are struggling.
My beach friends are devastated.
do they have high, whiny, baby voices and really thick-rimmed glasses?
You are describing the Governor of Arizona – high, whiny, baby voice and really thick-rimmed glasses! LOL.
And just about every other nearsighted homely dem woman.
