Secretary of State Marco Rubio is attending a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels. The timing puts Secretary Rubio in Europe just as NATO allies and European countries are reviewing the impact of the reciprocal tariffs levied against them by President Trump.
The press pool reacts to the concerns of several European and NATO member states through their questions. Secretary Rubio eloquently cuts through the nonsense, through the narrative engineering, and deliberately – with clarity – outlines the position of the Trump administration. Secretary Rubio is well within his element in these responses.
Rubio has really showcased a remarkable talent in support of President Trump and the diplomatic agenda of the Trump administration; remarkably so. The era of pretending diplomacy is coming rapidly to a close and Rubio is doing very well in his position. WATCH:
.

I think he’s doing very well because he can see a lot of his longtime goals within his grasp, if he does a good job of playing along.
Let me rephrase that, I think this could be the case.
If he’s playing along then he is a dangerous and disgusting RINO unAmerican.
Playing along, and getting good results, could produce a convert. I don’t discount that.
I’d rather have someone who had the scruples and intellectual honestry to have come to these positions on his own, a long time ago.
Anybody who plays identity politics has something fundamentally wrong with them.
He may have been red-pilled. His hatred of communism I think is motivating him now.
You said it more succinctly than I just did.
To me it’s just a real shame that we can’t trust any of the politicians we are allowed to vote for. I would love to be able to trust Rubio, Vance, etc on what they say and that they have core beliefs that we can support.
Just listen to the Democrats-They say they lost the presidential election because of messaging-What ? They don’t have core beliefs on how to best solve our country problems, just need to have better messaging(theater).
Republicans have been saying for decades that they want the same as their voters-Then they help create legislation
and vote- The Devil (Democrats) made me do it and the Establishment UniParty continues on.
The Dems are all in for the 20% on any given 80/20 issue.
That’s why they lost.
They will continue to lose unless they cheat like Hell!
I am pleasantly surprised by this version of Marco Rubio.
He’s much more intelligent than I had thought.
It’s how he used to be before he turned into a snake. He always came across as very intelligent and was a good speaker. Then he got corrupted.
Glad he’s giving the “for the good of the country” another try.
Rubio has always been thoughtful and a good communicator. I’m glad he got out of the Senate.
Of all of Trump 2.0’s picks so far, he’s been the most surprising and pleasing. He’s playing his cards right, that’s for true. Here’s hoping he sticks to them.
“The Secretary of State” is “the nation’s card-player.” Easily the second most important diplomatic role of them all.
Same. I like him now much more than I disliked him then.
He didnt land his committee spot by being an idiot.
Me too!
That only makes some of the players all the more disappointing. They demonstrate clearly they understand everything and yet choose to do the wrong things.
Still waiting to know if Rubio knew the CIA was running the Ukraine war on behalf of Ukraine.
The CEYEA has been running Ukraine since before Voldemort was selected. Imho
They were running the Ukronazies at their own inception.
Of course he knows it and he’s has stated same in one of more recent speeches and interviews.
He’s not hiding from the reality.
He comes across a little bit like Robert the Bruce in Braveheart.
I’m disappointed that NATO is still a thing.
I’ll watch but I don’t expect any questions which are important from the press.
All (gotcha) with no back up to prove it. Rubio threw the presstitute around like a rag doll.
He’s learning how to handle those jackals. Almost as well as Karoline.
He might be positioning himself for 2028.
Agree but what’s important right now is for us to assess who he truly is…not just his onstage persona.
Realistically, he could be just another George Bush playing a role.
We’ve had enough of those George types and we need a true MAGA in 2028.
For shore
He’s very presidential. I would support him
Cuba? https://www.facebook.com/jcdptx/posts/marco-rubios-parents-were-cuban-neither-were-us-citizens-when-marco-was-born-und/1027696436062199/
I don’t care…
Competition is good.
I pray we have a very deep bench for all offices going forward.
He sounds really sincere and obviously he has his eye on 2036 or whenever.
It’s almost always true that those who are good at deceiving come across as really sincere, and I don’t say with specifically with Rubio in mind. It’s just a bit discouraging that MAGA citizens are affected positively by someone who comes across really sincere.
If that’s really who he is, it’s baffling that there was no solid evidence suggesting that that’s who he really is until he was brought into this cabinet.
Yes, Sharon.
It is truly amazing for people to come onto this site and say someone is presidential based on their persona..
It’s this ignorance in the electorate that has put us in precisely the pickle that President Trump is trying to get us out of.
What it shows is that we’re light years away from having an informed electorate.
I have no ideas re how to get them informed quickly. In particular if they don’t have the ability to do good logical thinking and reasoning.
I’m willing to bet that President Trump worked with/coached Rubio over the last 4 years between Trump 45 and Trump 47 Administrations.
IMO that’s how Rubio has learned how to perform on a world stage.
Further I’ll bet that President Trump worked similarly in developing/coaching other members of the Trump 47 Cabinet to get them where they need to be.
I have to admit Rubio handled the (gotcha) presstitutes beautifully.
I still maintain that journalists are among the dumbest people in the world so its not difficult to do what Rubio did when you have clear facts to throw back….but it shows how spineless our GOP “representatives” have been in the past.
rubio has been a real revelation as sec of state.
he is doing an excellent job.
very happy and proud of the job he’s doing.
excellent pick.
He is a VP material.
Trumps best strength & worst weakness is putting faith in people & giving them a chance to prove themselves. They either step up or they reveal themselves to be snakes. So far so good this term, the last term was marred by so many snakes.
Worst weakness, hiring crappy attractive attorneys like Pam Bondi.
Our press is worthless
They’re looking at “worthless” in the rearview mirror. They have become purveyors of lies, half-truths, and anything they can throw at the wall to bring America down. They disgust me and I could not despise them more.
Humphrey……what you can expect from a presstitutes…
Is he fooling a lot of people or is he genuinely in the MAGA movement? Suspicious cat remains suspicious…
He was still a member of the gang of 8. He still wants to runs for president. He still is most likely “an actor from central casting” who was propped up by lobbyist /PAC money. I have a hard time accepting he’s “changed”, and not acting. I pray I’m wrong. Hopefully Trump can get that 3rd term, and we don’t have to worry about it!
Milton Friedman quote: “ I do not believe that the solution to our problem is simply to elect the right people. The important thing is to establish a political climate of opinion which will make it politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing. Unless it is politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing, the right people will not do the right thing either, or if they try, they will shortly be out of office.”
That reminds me of Marco Rubio.
Trump is forcing a lot of these people to have to do the right thing.
Good on Mr. Rubio for understanding the situation.
I like the comment on dollars wasted with NGOs. Abolish them all. Go Trump!
They really should be called “Government NGO’s”
Nefarious Government Operations.
Yeah, REALLY.
Loved that. We’re not the only rich country in the world. Why is it just assumed that America should be covering 70% of the relief aid for every world tragedy, and if we don’t, we’re not doing our duty. We’re done spending 100Million on grifter NGO’s so that 10 Million gets to the victims. This has needed to be articulated on the world stage for a long time.
What happened to him? We here in this community have always viewed him with a leery eye. But he seems to be performing admirably. Nevertheless, there are some, including myself, who are not quite ready to wholeheartedly jump onto his bandwagon. Of course, I support his current actions, but still….
In the meantime, perhaps it is wise to heed the words of Ronaldus Maximus, “trust but verify. “
It’s one thing to appreciate him for doing his job as instructed, it is another thing to put that appreciation in to full throated faith that when he is making the decisions, he will do so in the same view as “We the People”.
I like that he shows unwavering confidence, and that nothing he said contained any pretending.
However, he didn’t say a lot of things that would have shown he completely understands the true situation on the ground. My guess is that’s because he’s not being given sufficient true information.
That could be a problem, and of course it’s very unsettling if true.
At about 6:25 on the video, Rubio says: “…I’ve had phone calls with foreign leaders and then I read the readout and it’s like, oh, “we said, no, you never,” they came, they said something to me they never said. I guess that’s part of the game in this place, or whatever…”
Rush said Marco Rubio will be president one day.
Perhaps Rush saw something we didn’t, or perhaps Rubio is now finally in a position to act on his beliefs.
But today he is helping the country, and we need more like him.
I’m trying optimism now, and we can all be happy until there is real reason for pessimism
We deserve the break. We earned it. Long way to go yet, so let’s make it a happy trip.
They have a list. Hilary was on that list… 😉
Putin is not “dragging his feet.”
He is winning.
Tariffs Are Economic Patriotism, Putting Americans First
https://www.theamericanconservative.com/tariffs-are-economic-patriotism-putting-americans-first/
“After the War of 1812, President Madison, backed by Henry Clay and John Calhoun and ex-Presidents Jefferson and Adams, enacted the Tariff of 1816 to price British textiles out of competition, so Americans would build the new factories and capture the booming U.S. market. It worked.”
The new book,
Rialto in Richmond,
By Dr. Joseph P. Farrell
is promoted this week
On Catherine Austin Fitts site, The Solari Report.
Here is an excerpt from Fitts’ review:
“”Cotton was king, and the Confederacy was the source for the textile mills of the British empire that clothed an enormous number of people. “”
Sounds like the British had their way of going around the tariff(s).
Just something to think about.
I would like to read the book .
Egyptian cotton.
This man has aged 10 years in 70 days
In a good way.
Rubio as SOS reminds me of Nikki Haley in the PT45 era as U.N Ambassador. I admit I was impressed with her as she spoke truth to power on the world stage. She seemed very loyal to President Trump, and represented his global and pro-Israel agenda well. However, I was equally disappointed in her once she was on her own, and showed her true colors. Her alliances outed her as one more neocon and never Trumper to not be trusted, and far from MAGA.
So I see Rubio through that same lens. I was initially disappointed in his being the SOS pick, but have been pleasantly surprised as to how he has conducted himself in representing PT and MAGA in the global arena. But I do not forget his earlier ties and performances. It will be interesting to see whether he has had a “Come to Jesus” moment, and had an epiphany now that he is free of McConnell’s control and having to understand PT’s MAGA strategies. Or whether he will revert to type once he is cut loose from the MAGA orbit, much like Haley, and even DeSantis.
I’m willing to give him that chance. If he’s really what he now seems to be, he might be called “one of the best.” And, if he hangs himself, well, he hung himself. Maybe he takes his critical job seriously. Let’s hope. (And, expect. And, require.)
Rubio acts like someone who has been liberated from a heavy burden that was hanging over him. We’ll see if this continues. He certainly delivers his message clearly and concisely.
The Secretary of State is fulfilling his job responsibilities in defending the USA on its trade policies. He is forthright, unambiguous, and honest in his responses. His responses are couched in language even the uninformed can understand. I like the man in this role.
🙌
Well said. (consider the source though)
if you have a pirate problem, hire the strongest pirate to fight them. Bessent for the bond vigilantes, Rubio for the Senate Intelligence committee.
I personally think that Trump made good cabinet choices across the board. Obviously, each of the players are settling into their roles, but I think that they are in fact doing that. Rubio is presenting himself in his most-critical role as having both a moderate sense of humor and a very level head.
He said important things. Such as: “We’re not the world’s government.” (Wow. That’s a switch!) And, “we’re not going to send $100 million [to an NGO …] to get $10 million actually distributed.” (Oh, darn. Does that mean the “gravy train” has stalled?) And, that we have other “national priorities” which must be balanced. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard a US Government official talk that way, and it feels really good because it sounds like an actual thinking person who knows he’s not omnipotent.
You make a good point about us not hearing that kind of talk from our govt. in a long time.
Feels strange and will take a while to get used to the new language of America First policies across the board.
We are witnessing an extraordinary shift in our govt. polices and world affairs in general.
What was stopping him from talking this way years ago? He’s been in the federal government 15 years. 15!
Why didn’t he do something about these NGOs a long time ago?
I’m sure McConnell and Schumer prevented him, or any senators from touching USAID funding. Too many dark programs and political kickbacks were there, so they let it be. Rather shady indeed.
Did Rubio get freed up from whatever blackmail they had on him? There were pages and pages on him in the Wikileaks from the Hillary minions.
Maybe that leak in itself freed him.
I do not like Rubio, but he is doing well in my opinion.
Be awhile before trust is brought up.
I continued to be amazed… would have never thought it possible!
Good surprise!
MAGA.
Whoever the first reporter was who was asking questions…..she needs to find another job. I’m truly frustrated with the stupidity and political bias of reporters.
It was Andrea Mitchell
(Aka, Mrs. Alan Greenspan). NBC
yes ….they are stooopid presstitutes……
Glad my hunch about Rubio was correct. He stepped up to this moment in history when men and heroes are needed most. Easy to sit on the sidelines and criticize but only a select few can take the heat. Perhaps he was misjudged or changed his stripes, but as SOS he is better than anyone on the horizon and is putting America First. He has my support and prayers.
I believe I speak for many long term treepers who will never forget that Rubio was firmly pro amnesty while on the Gang of Eight, but your last sentence caught my attention.
Yes, I could do better at remembering Rubio and every single member of President Trump’s cabinet in my prayers. The hard edges of the opposition are shaping up to force open conflict in every arena (I was just reading about the latest Justice Roberts’ vile friendship and Judge Boasberg’s beyond irrational effort to create conflict with the DOJ and Immigration … among others).
Yes, they all need our support and prayers. We are in extraordinary times and business is not as usual for the typical political posturing and bedfellows. We are witnessing the world on the brink, so I choose to cut some of these guys slack, as they navigate uncharted waters. Godspeed to all !
Rubio has definitely shown that he has the ability. I am dubious about the mindset. It is nice to be pleasantly surprised. Some of the other picks have been less than stellar such as Patel, Bogino, etc.
I think he realizes it’s better to have actual autonomy under Trump instead of being another lobbyist puppet in the current “system.” As long as she delivers the results we want I’m fine with it.
#MAGA … he is more ….
I agree, Rubio is doing a great job.
It’s almost as if President Trump cut his shackles (whatever those may have been) and set him free!
The market will adjust a lot faster when the world understands they cannot simply create a 4 year plan to wait until Trump is out of office to continue their practice of bribing and installing our Presidents and election officials.
Election Integrity and the awareness of Illusion of Choice will ensure the real American people are in charge and will keep the winning streak alive long term and send the world a message that resistance is futile. Get on board or suffer the consequences.
Rubio (paraphrased): We are done with these global NGOs that take in millions of dollars and do nothing. We are no longer going to give these NGOs $100 million dollars and only $10 million dollars gets to the people who need it.
There are plenty of other rich countries around the world who can also chip in for humanitarian aid. We have other priorities such as national debt that have to be dealt with. We cannot be the only one who take care of the world.
We have to wonder why he wasn’t talking about this long ago.
My guess is that some people are not strong enough, rich enough to fight the blowback, or don’t want to have their lives ruined for speaking out about these issues.
Who wants the Donald J Trump treatment? Who could afford to hire enough attorneys to fight the lawfare that will rain down on you if you speak MAGA? Look at Peter Navarro, Steve Bannon, Mike Flynn, Tina Peters, Sydney Powell, Ken Paxton, and all of the J6ers who got their lives ruined.
We all know what will happen to us if we speak out against this evil. There is safety in numbers and we are growing our numbers every day. Eventually, we will be able to drown out their influence but the enemy’s soldiers are angry, violent, and well financed.
Now, Rubio has the power of the President and his cabinet behind him. The Six Ways to Sunday group may think about targeting him but he is far more protected now than he was when he was just a senator.
My facebook “friends” are mostly rabid, Trump hating middle aged women. I don’t dare say a word to them about MAGA because they would react with such rabid hate that I think that they would key my car if they could. I just quietly block them and go on with my life. Who needs the irritation?
Well said. He had to play the game to survive in that rats’ nest we call Congress. Now game-playing is no longer necessary.
Very much enjoying this Marco Rubio.
Iron sharpens iron. 😉
Seriously looking more and more like a strong presidential candidate for 2028. Not my 1st choice, or even 2nd…but how it might look from a general perspective. jm2c
Former SCCI member, ran cover for Mark Warner, a silver-tongued devil. He will give Vance a run for his money. That said, he’s doing a bang-up job for PDJT. If other cabinet members were as good (Bondi, that’s you!) . . .
Perhaps being part of the Gang of 8 has given him powerful insight into all the skeletons throughout Congress.
I hope he uses that leverage on all of them to get PDJT’s agenda done for the American people.
There is clearly much more to Marco Rubio than was either apparent or credited to him by most of MAGA in PDJT’s first term as 45th President, including most of the Treehouse.
Secretary Rubio has diligently stepped up the his current role in PDJT’s second term, and acquitted himself (of previous speculations of motive or intent) quite impressively thus far.
2028 is gearing up to be the greatest display of Illusion of Choice ever.
Plus being bi-lingual with conservative values and a non-woke stance on many issues, he appeals to Hispanics and many groups in this country. If he can be successful as SOS, he will definitely have a powerful position in govt. for years to come.
Looking back what I wrote, I just realized I forgot the second half my comment.
Rubio’s performance as SOS under Pres. Trump may ALSO possibly reflect a very scary ability to completely submerge his true feelings and inclinations while outwardly appearing to fully support the policies of the current administration. While his cool demeanor and prompt articulate responses in the Q&A presser might appear to contradict this possibility, I personally no longer can ignore the fact that some darkly talented people can pull that off.
I only add this *because* of the stark contrast between the Rubio of 2016-2020 and the Rubio of 2024-2025.. Maybe he somehow was awakened to the existentially deadly path the US was on with the Democrats in charge….or…..something else.
Rubio is riding a winning horse to the finish line. Why pull up on the reins now?
ah yes, the illusion of choice. Peter Theil…I mean JD came outa nowhere real fast and has some catching up to do..
Rubio is a good talker and always has been. It’s just hard to trust someone like him who was a Senator and on the intel committee. He may play along with Trump and MAGA for a while then we will see who his real master is.
Channeling Musk: when will Rubio cut some State Department (C-A) staff?
I want to believe that Sec Rubio woke up.
His parents endured and escaped communism amd it’s horrendous characteristics.
Surely he could see what was (is) happening here, with leftists going full-steam ahead with their religion of Socialism and intentions to impose it at any cost.
While I don’t doubt political expediency and self preservation, I wonder if waking up isn’t part of the equation in his well-articulated and seemingly authentic public statements.
Rubio is very matter of fact. Doing a great job! Maybe all along this is where he felt like he fit the most.
Every time I listen to another one of these very well spoken press conferences I marvel again at the intentionality, the wisdom, the foresight, the sheer effort of the entire cabinet, and wonder how the hell we floated along without any useful direction for so long.
Those videos of the crowds running into a luxury store, stripping it bare and running off? That’s literally the best image of the previous Regime, every man grabs for himself without a thought of the consequences to others.
Rubio describes the situation from an actual grown up’s perspective. Refreshing.
And a govt. official speaking eloquently, void of wokeness and climate change jargon, is quite refreshing indeed
I reluctantly have to agree that Marco Rubio has impressed me, so far. We will see.
Me too and I expected him to be a tool of the deep state to the max. I still don’t totally trust him.
As part of the Gang of Eight, I cannot trust him, though he is proving to be a good spokesman. I doubt that anything of substance uttered is from his own insights though. He’s being the team player for the moment.
I agree. Is this one of those “keep your friends close, and your enemies closer?” Just wondering.
correct, but he’s bringing heat where it needs to be brought and we need that.
in his heart, I think he’s still a neocon. I don’t think he swallowed the red pill. He just tucked it into his cheek.
Same here.
