Previously French President Emmanuel Macron refused to commit to putting French troops together with U.K troops on the ground in Ukraine. Politically in France, Macron is on the ropes.
Obviously, such a direct commitment of troops into Ukraine would put tenuously positioned Macron in an even worse position. However, putting French technical support systems into place to replace the withdrawn U.S. targeting system just sounds better.
So, as the optics of French politics present, yeah, yeah, that’s the ticket – Macron goes that way.
Stepping into the spotlight Macron said in an address to the nation on Wednesday that Russia was “a threat for France and Europe”, that the Ukraine was already a “global conflict” and that he would open a debate about extending the French nuclear umbrella to allies in Europe.
Macron also said that he plans next week to hold a meeting of army chiefs from European countries willing to send troops to Ukraine after any eventual peace deal with Russia. Macron told the people of France that his nation needs to be ready if the United States is no longer by its side.
Russia Responds –MOSCOW (Reuters) -Russian officials and lawmakers on Thursday poured scorn on French President Emmanuel Macron for saying that Russia threatened Europe and cautioned that such talk could lead the West towards the abyss of a new world war.

Yesterday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio publicly said, “for the past three years the U.S and Russia, two nuclear powers, have been in a proxy war.” This is the U.S. Secretary of State saying this on television.
The EU nations are assembled in Brussels today to discuss how to finance a larger EU military.
The U.K is willing to support continued warfighting efforts in Ukraine.
France wants to keep supporting Ukraine warfighting efforts.
German leadership is now proposing changes to their constitution to enable them to spend and assemble a larger military.
It’s a little bit remarkable. Germany is talking about assembling a larger military to support a move through NATO ally Poland putting German troops into Ukraine to fight Russians. 👀

They may WANT to impeach him… but President Trump’s net approval is positive and support for his peace efforts in the mid-70s positive. You can’t impeach a President that popular… they’d be ripped to shreds proverbially and perhaps literally.

Will the actors comply with the directors? That is a good and unknowable question. Some will comply and some will refuse. That’s about as certain as a general question as we can expect our predict.
The thing about impeachment (and removal by Senate) is the actors will not face immediate consequence. Voters only matter when elections are close.

The fact that the western European nations are aligning against Russia, using Ukraine as a proxy, concerns me. I don’t really believe that they think that Russia is a threat to invade western Europe. Why then are the Europeans threatening to escalate against Russia? However, since the USA was funding most of the Ukraine war, and Trump is now not, I don’t think the Europeans will, or even can, take over funding or arming the Ukrainians to continue the war.
If the UK, France, Germany are going to provide the security guarantees for Ukraine after a peace agreement, then I’m okay with that (so long as there are no USA boots on the ground).

President Trump is now in a position where he can materially dissolve our participation in NATO, simply by declaring the other NATO participants remiss on their monies and manpower, thereby making any Article 5 trigger with Russia null and void.
President Trump can furthermore simply cease the funding and manpower/equipment of military and logistics supply between our military and NATO, then simply close our military bases in Western Europe.
All of this, he can do without any Congressional approval.
President Trump isn’t very fond of NATO as long as the taxpayers of the USofA are footing the majority of the bill, so I don’t think NATO has any say whatsoever whether or not the USofA sends physical troops to the region.
President Trump has been extremely adamant about this and I don’t believe he would capitulate to the European Union/NATO if it means the possibility that US military personnel could die fighting a war that Ukraine cannot win without the assistance of the US taxpayers and military defense.
As a NATO member, if something should happen to a NATO peacekeeper, President Trump may not be able to not go in. The rope that binds.

This is all talk. Theater. No country in Europe has the troops to do this. Even more importantly no country in Europe has the weaponry to do this. And most importantly no country in Europe has the money to do this.

Based on that fact alone, we know for a fact anything Europe says today is just posturing. All hat and no cattle.

We can see the table being set for war IN Europe over all this..
Has everyone been following their elections for the past decade or so? (leading up to Brexit and then from then on)
The people that are doing all this to them are steadily loosing power with each election all over Europe.
There is real growing anger there- and Macron thinks those pissed off people are going to go to war?
The war is going to be right there when they over throw their governments that have them forced onto a suicide mission.
So knowing this, seeing this, I sure wish that Donald Trump would very loudly tell them “YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN !!”
America is not going to bail them out, this should be made crystal clear over and over again..
I’m so beyond done with all that has been on for our entire lives- that has cost us so dearly.

My take? The Lord is baiting these godless humanists into a war they will not win. What things look like a year from now will either have this resolved or Paris in ashes.

First an foremost, the 3 major “national leaders” of the EU (UK, Germany and France) have stated clearly, any money put into the pot for the defense build up would be done via “SECURED LOANS” to the EU Government … paid by the other members of the EU. No free stuff from the top economies of the EU.
Also, while the UK and France do have small nuclear arsenals … all but a very few of those weapons are TACTICAL Systems or short ranged requiring forward deployment … so the build up of the Strategic Nuclear Deterrent mentioned by Macron (and may be Starmer) will take ALL the money needed to build up a land force.
Italy, the number 4 economy (behind the UK, Germany and France) has already said no deal and once the other lesser economies see the bill, their reactions will be interesting to see.
President Trump has taken the NATO card off the table, with his statement that the EU interests in the Ukraine are not covered by the NATO Treaty. That means there will be no conventional assets and no US Nukes, as a backstop.

NATO has absolutely no value to American interests.
We’ve pissed trillions of dollars away in the last 70 years providing defense services to Europe.
Because of the waste of our tax dollars on their defense, Europeans have built massive socialist paradises–where healthcare, education, and many services are free. Of course, they still extort massive taxes from their populations, but with minimal defense expenses, Europeans have huge amounts of money to spend on their socialist utopias.
It is insane that we have been brainwashed to accept this. There is no value to this arrangement. We are perfectly able to protect ourselves. We owe Europe nothing. We get nowhere close to the value of our defending them in return.
We need to stop pretending. Get out of NATO now.
The time for Starmer and Macron to be of any geopolitical relevance. if there ever was, vaporized a long time ago.
