Appearing on ABC, Secretary Rubio cuts to the chase in his support of President Trump and the administration officials who are organizing the most practical end to war, destruction and bloodshed. ABC George Stephanopolous pushes the “security guarantee” talking point, while Rubio eloquently keeps the focus on ending the conflict.
The Zelenskyy defenders, NATO and the EU must pretend the U.S didn’t carry out a color revolution in Ukraine. They must also pretend they didn’t install Volodymyr Zelenskyy and pretend there was no civil war happening inside Ukraine for a decade. Lastly, the western group must pretend they didn’t try to provoke Vladimir Putin with expansions of NATO and an intentional breaking of the Minsk accords. There are other pretenses that must be maintained, but these are the top ones.

Was optimistic as it appeared to me that he was evolving his outlook over, to me, an undefined period of time. It seemed during the campaign that he was intensifying his more robust MAGA thoughts.
Nonetheless, initially to my mind, the primary positives were his opposition to China supremacy attitudes, and the objective of changing the approach to Latin America to a much more postively aggressive policies — changes in Cuba, Panama, Central America, so on.
He has expanded his arena even further. He appears grounded in the overall foreign policy and his articulate push back to the lyin’ fake news greatly gratifies.
Have come to think that he wanted to escape the stuck, sickly atmosphere of the senate, and use his experience to open up to new possibilities and new goals.
I was glad he was appointed as I think we have ignored our Southern Hemisphere for too long. Having a young man, who speaks Spanish and is of a family that was roughly treated by Communist Cuba and fled to the US is very important IMO! I think it will pay dividends going forward.

In Dec 2023, Rubio co-sponsored legislation (signed by Biden) to prevent any president from exiting NATO without the approval of Congress.
(fyi law may be unconstitutional as the Constitution gives a president authority over foreign policy.)
Sen Mike Lee has spoken up about the fact it’s time to exit NATO.
Except we cannot easily exit now because of Rubio being the main architect along with Kaine from Virginia re the additional phrasing in the NDAA Biden signed on Dec 23.
If you are referring to Section 222 of the NDAA, I would consider that amount to be a “sunk cost expense” that shouldn’t bear on future decision-making re: NATO.
But maybe we don’t even have to fully exit to get results. President Trump has options. For example, he could greatly reduce the amount of money we give.

The Constitution provides, in the second paragraph of
Article II, Section 2, that “the President shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur.” Thus, treaty making is a power shared between the President and the Senate. In general, the weight of practice has been to confine the Senate’s authority to that of disapproval or approval, with approval including the power to attach conditions or reservations to the treaty.
Interesting … from what I’ve been reading the issue has not been litigated.
Rubio’s bill was passed to try to create a barrier to a president withdrawing from NATO without Congressional approval.

I have to agree. I’ll admit that I wasn’t thrilled when I heard about his nomination, but he has exceeded my expectations. He really does seem to be a good fit for the role. He’s articulate, he conveys policy well, and he’s great at rebutting the condescending, communist media. I get the feeling that he has grown/changed a bit, in a good way. President Trump had plenty of phonies in his last administration, but I’m not getting that vibe from Rubio.

Now, for those of us who remember early Senator Rubio speaking truth to power on the Senate Floor, along with Rush Limbaugh’s assessment and predictions, Marco is standing tall and has found his calling.
He is a very smart, strong, enthusiastic, patriotic and honest international representative. President Trump knew what he was doing when he chose Senator Rubio for Secretary of State.
Right now I call Secretary of State Rubio a straight shooter. He’s not pulling any punches, he’s telling us the truth and standing up to the weak-kneed liars and connivers.

1385 Ukrainians were wounded or died today. Think about that. That is the population of whole small towns in the US. And that doesn’t include any who died or were wounded by missiles that couldn’t be counted by Russia.
There is no stalemate. Russia is moving forward on every front as they have for months.
Stephanopolous either is ignorant – has no idea of what were the causes of this conflict, hasn’t researched it, and has no idea how it is progressing. Or he is pretending to believe the Biden State Dept lies. He is trying to goad Rubio into calling Vladimir Putin a dictator. He pretends that Zelensky is not a dictator in every definition of the term. He pretends that Zelensky is right that Russia has broken agreements – which is false.
Rubio did a good job keeping the discussion on the present goals and not getting lost in trying to refute Stephanopolous’ lies, pretenses, and mis-directions.
That impressed me too. He stayed on PDJT’s immediate goal, didn’t allow Steffy to get him off message and into an argument if who is or isn’t a dictator, other attempts to bad mouth one side or the other. Can’t have the primary diplomat come to the negotiating table with dirty hands.
Hope there are some surrogates who could make a few points though. UKR just dropped the age for conscription to 16. The videos of guys being grabbed off the street and chucked into a white van are awful (JD was right). Ukrainian males age 16-60 run and hide when they see those white vans. Z halted elections and just today outlawed another party.

Volodymyr Zelensky’s studio in Ukraine posted a disgusting and vulgar reference to President Trump after the Ukrainian leader was walked out of the White House on Friday.
The Kvartal 95 Facebook page posted a photo of a piano with Trump’s name on it.
The photo is in reference to the famous skit where Zelensky played the piano with his penis and no pants on.
The photo, featuring a black grand piano with ‘Trump’ written on it, was published by the studio on Facebook and Instagram on Friday after Zelensky was asked to leave the White House.
