Nuland helped to overthrow the elected government of Ukraine in 2014. The plan was to make it militarily strong to challenge Russia. The only glitch was that the plans for the US naval base in Crimea (to challenge the Russian naval base at Sevastopol, Crimea) was circumvented by the quick actions of Crimea to declare independence from Ukraine (in a matter of a week) and vote to join with Russia less than 2 weeks after the coup.
They were planning to have lots of time to build up weapons and considered the current inventory sufficient. The west’s evaluation of Russia was that they were not very capable militarily, that their economy would collapse under punitive sanctions, and that the CIA/NATO-trained Ukrainian militias were sufficient to not only hold Ukraine, but perhaps push well into Russia proper….in which case Vladimir Putin would be overthrown by our USAID-backed opposition with the help of USAID-funded media in eastern Europe.
It was a matter of lots of wrong information, wrong evaluations, and lack of any real plan.

When I watched the doc “Tower to the people” about the efforts to preserve Tesla’s research Lab on Long Island, lo and behold Serbia donated a beautiful statue and the President of Serbia visited to help with the preservation ceremony. I doubt this all would even be starting unless Trump had assurance of what Russia’s end game looks like. That means Russia has likely confirmed that they aren’t interested in taking further chunks of Ukraine. They’d only want that the current chunks are recognized as Russian, and no wars start over them. True peace can then take root.

In it, Lindsey Graham, sitting next to his BFF Zelenskyy, announces with a great deal of bravado to the assembled audience that if Russia invades Ukraine, Ukraine will be immediately accepted into NATO.
But it gets better…
He has announced that there will be American boots on the ground as well.

When President Trump chose Marco Rubio for Secretary of State, I’ll admit wincing a bit.
Sundance put the choice into perspective regarding the Gang of Eight, but I couldn’t see him as a forceful presence for that particular position. And all I could say was that I hoped he would grow into the job.
This recent photograph of Rubio is the complete opposite as I have always thought of him…fresh, even baby faced and unserious.

Over some period of time, it has seemed to me that Rubio was recognizing and learning as he experienced what was happening. His campaign efforts on behalf of PDJT were increasingly impressive.

Consider a possible regime change in Cuba as a longer term goal as amongst his thoughts.

Their dug-in fortifications were considered world class. Their military numbered close to 1 million in the armed forces and reserves. They had also been prepped to be virulently anti-Russian.
Ukraine was pushed into war because the west considered it a sure thing – to take down Russia and get rid of Vladimir Putin. Even at Istanbul, the west was thinking that they had a sure thing – that Zelensky needed to keep fighting. If you read most western literature from before 2022, you will see the anti-Russian slant and the denigration of their military and their economy. The view was that Russia was “a gas station with nuclear weapons” which DeSantis foolishly repeated during his campaign.
