That was one of the most touching and inspirational media events I have ever witnessed, hosted by President Trump giving the victims of North Carolina the opportunity to tell their stories. And the last two women especially gave the most powerful testimonials. One of them was a pastor who had just bought an enormous church building even though they have a small congregation, and then next week the storm hit.
She said people from all over the country sent supplies, trucked in supplies. And then her daughter spoke about the devastation and about the lack of help from FEMA and how FEMA required them to repair a bridge and repair a road and then send FEMA the receipts, and meanwhile FEMA wouldn’t help them with their own properties because they said there was no bridge to their community and no road. She said the bridge itself was going to cost at least $300,000, and they did not have that money to fix it on their own nor did they have the equipment.
The a-holes at FEMA said fix it yourself and send us the receipts.
So many investigations needed. So many heads to roll. So many orange jump suits to order. Seriously. Hoping someone in this Administration has a white board with a list of agencies to decimate, people to be fired, and court cases to be brought against.
The US Army Corps of Engineers could have a working bridge up in a week. Why can’t FEMA call them in?

Overhaul. Or “end” by moving its functions elsewhere. We DO, however, need some kind of agency that can coordinate resources from multiple states, as well as military assistance, in the event of a disaster that requires this.

The FBI is really there to provide investigative support to local law enforcement, not be the KGB.
FEMA is supposed to be a checkbook. The states, through mutual aid, provide the resources to help one another if need be and FEMA reimburses. The national guard is a good back-up for some personnel and resources.
There is a more efficient way to run these “incidents” and utilize assets that want to help (other local/state govt resources, non-profits (like churches, Red Cross, etc.), and contractors). It’s just creating the mechanism ahead of time so you can do an instant survey of what’s of available and request response to the incident.
Just the removal of debris is going to be tremendous job…I wouldnt let the politicians in CA handle anything to do with the rebuild. Government has outside contractors let them bid and PT review bids.
I agree they need some kind of office, but I think this could be handled best by an office in the interior dept. Trump’s idea is to give the states affected by disasters the financial aid and then let the states handle the recovery work. I like this better because it puts the accountability at the state level, rather than with FEMA, which is an agency that is basically completely unaccountable.
That sounds good.
Plus, how many people do we need in FEMA to cut checks for disaster when we only have one or two a year?
Why do we need a bunch of bureaucrats in DC “working” for FEMA who do nothing but…well nothing.

I first began hearing about the horrendous industry of child sex trafficking/ pedophilia/ abuse just a few years ago, pre-FJB admin. When I first began hearing what was being said I just couldn’t believe it yet I kept an open mind. Then…I heard journalists and pundits I trust discussing.
Now, I understand how widespread the problem is, have no doubt of the general fate of the 350k-500k missing children who crossed the border…point is: my slow acceptance of the depth and breadth of this evil is likely representative of our general public, and thus “drip, drip, drip” seems appropriate in order to move the population to acceptance of the truth then taking action. Sometimes facing the truth is really hard.
I was hearing about this on a wide scale during the Kenyan’s regime; it was so awful (and inconceivable) that I repressed it from my mind. Guess I was still pretending this was America, where things like that couldn’t happen with the collusion of those who derive their authority from our government.
I no longer deny that the America in which I was raised has “Gone With the Wind.” And with the large pocket books.

That is what just came to my mind. EVs will become uninsurable.
I also thought about a story of a family that paid around $14,000 for a used EV. A month or two later the battery died and it was going to cost something around $10,000 to replace the battery which was not under warranty.
I can see how that scenario would incentivize people to add comprehensive to their policies, wait a short time, have their vehicle “stolen” and dumped into a deep body of water, and then file a claim with the insurance company for the cost of replacement.
