The Democrats in the Senate are back to their old tricks of using delay tactics to stall President Trump’s nominees for cabinet positions.
The nomination of CIA Director John Ratcliffe passed out of the Senate Intelligence Committee with a vote of 14-3. However, when the Majority Leader John Thune calls the Ratcliffe nomination to the floor for a full Senate vote, suddenly individual Senators start using procedural processes to delay the votes.
There’s a campaign going on to pressure Thune to remove Collins and Murkowski from committee assignments. This was at patriots.win:
Forget calling Murkowsi and Collins offices. Call Thune and get them removed from their committee chairmanships. Collins head appropriations for god sake. Thune needs to remove them!!!
Collins is the chair on the Approiations committee, and murkowski is the chair of the interior, environment, and related agencies committee.

I agree that McConnell chairing the Rules Committee is a major problem. Calls to Thune should also address that issue. When I called re Collins and Murkowski I also asked if McConnell was fit to serve or if he was another Biden situation where everyone is covering up senility/health issues. It wasn’t just dems covering for Biden, repubs were in on it too.
I pointed out that they are public servants elected to serve the people and instead are subverting the will of the people. Many remember that McConnell didn’t strip Murkowski of committee assignments after she went against the will of the people of AK and ran as an independent after she lost the primary. McConnell rewarded her for those actions, provided RNC funds and gave her plum committee assignments.
Maybe the phone calls, emails and faxes don’t make a bit of difference but a snowball rolling downhill can trigger an avalanche. You never know what action may trigger change.
Republicans are doing what they’ve always done. They blame the democrats while not doing anything to stop them. The democrats are their shield when they want to look good but want to do bad for the people. Check it out. History shows this.

Portland pastor Mark Knutson has vowed to try and protect Aguirre, calling the Augustana Lutheran Church in Northeast Portland a sanctuary.
Knutson reflected on the sacredness of sanctuary, saying,“The idea was if ICE were to dare breach this sacred space, this holy grail, and violently drag a man out of this church, with all the cellphones and technology, even back 10 years ago, can you imagine the pictures of a man being dragged?”

I recently read a Newsweek article that reported 1.4 to 1.5 million illegal aliens remain in the US, even though their cases have been adjudicated by a judge and they’ve been denied residency.

Just saw yesterday’s TGP article featuring Fox News interview on ICE efforts to find and deport dangerous illegal aliens. Could IRS/Fed impose surtax on sanctuary state residents for the cost of all the time wasted by ICE tracking down released alien lawbreakers? If the voters are going to be financially penalized by voting for idiots, it might change their voting patterns.
It’s worse than that; Homan has said that it doubles the amount of manpower needed to pick up these invaders, and it puts his people at increased risk of harm. When an American is hurt due to these law-breaking facilitators I hope they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Murkowski is up for reelection in ’28, Collins in ’26, I hope the RNC intends to encourage primary opponents. Of course, they’ll each be about 120 years old, so maybe it’s not necessary. The gall of these two…

There is so much good “AI” can do and also soo much bad: it’s the people that determine good or bad!!!
We don’t have an AI problem, we have a deep state (people) problem.
You could easily train an LLM to quickly digest and summarize the BS bills (too big to read, must vote to see). Highlight inconsistencies with statutory and case law. What would take an army of paralegals and lawyers to do in a week could be done in a few hours.
I’ve always thought there’s simply too much data for “real time” AI crime fighting; however, I can be a powerful tool post-crime. For instance someone is caught on a person’s home security cameras murdering them, the police could use AI to search for potential suspects, present the evidence to a judge and get a warrant for their arrest. AI facial recognition monitoring public cameras could help catch the suspect.
I don’t think the government should have access to any data other than official government stuff like business permits, driver’s license info, etc. They should need a warrant from a judge (FISA needs to be demolished) and seek records from the private companies.

The night before Inauguration Day, after the Victory Rally at the Capitol One Arena, I wanted to watch something that would wind me down after such an exciting event. Looking through movie selections I chose ‘The Lost King’ about King Richard, III.

This most definitely should apply to H1b visa holders. Quite frankly, we could avoid this issue by doing away with H1b, but I don’t see that happening.

It worked well enough in the decades before, by the way, to put men on the moon. If we can manage that with what the college system was capable of it was plenty good enough and produced a thriving middle class.

Obama did even worse — he took the entire shooting match and federalized it, removing all discipline in that regard. Of course, being where Obama got his “degrees” from is this a surprise?
What’s the answer? Simple — force the colleges to cut that crap out by removing the money.
– No more federal student loan backing of any sort. Pell Grants and perhaps Stafford for undergrad, OK. Beyond that? Nothing. Period.
– No more bankruptcy exemption. Force lenders to underwrite both students and programs or run the risk of a bankruptcy filing after graduation that causes the lender to eat the balance.
– Ban co-signers on such loans as void due to public policy. No, Mom and/or Dad do not get stuck if you can’t pay post-graduation.
The amount charged for a perceived as needed “product” or “service,” in this case a so-called “education,” will rise to the cost the customers can bear. Imagine that, otherwise known as “basic economics.”

It’s true that tuition went sky high after the feds got involved in guaranteeing student loans, just as housing inflated after the federal government started guaranteeing home loans.
Obama’s old Chicago law firm was involved in forcing the banks to loan to those who couldn’t pass normal financing requirements, he and his race agitators – leading up to mass bankruptcies and bank failures.
Any other business the federal government decides to guarantee will become more expensive.
Those charts are deceptive because they ignore many of the underlying factors. College costs are massively inflated but so are student expectations. Students today expect to have housing that has quartz counters, private bathroom for each student, work out rooms, etc. Every big landlord screwing up that market is offering more glitter to attract these spoiled brats. Every college is offering more shiny objects for the same reason. I’m not giving them a pass for that, I’m appalled by it. But aside from the burden of carrying useless “studies” these schools and students are now funding an endless stream of useless.
Now add the illegals all being handed a free ride.
Same with housing inflation in general. Comparing average prices of homes sold is not very instructive. The average house in the early 1950’s was a third the size of the starter houses today. And again, a 2nd bathroom back then was a luxury to be added by the owner later with some hard work and beer for his pals. Today every bedroom in a starter house needs a luxury bathroom attached. When the rulers crashed the economy in 2008 or so the house sales leading up to that were at the extreme that if you had three cardboard boxes and a pail for a “bathroom” the appraiser would approve the loan. Afterward for a house to get a loan the place had to have gilt doorknobs and faucets. New everything became the standard and nobody could move a place without. We’re somewhere between right now, but the fact is that the comparisons are never for the same product year to year. The Case-shiller index claims to address that by comparing the same address, but that still doesn’t account for condition, or for changed neighborhood dynamics, which have been extreme in many cases.
Rental pricing is the same assortment of misleading stats. “Average” rents are nothing of the sort. Those statistics are always drawn from the big players, the large apartment complexes and operators who run thousands of apartments in large structures. Those rents never take into account the small owners who have a few 11 unit buildings, or maybe a couple duplexes. Those rents are never counted. The simple common sense way to know how dire the “housing shortage” is at any given time is to drive around and look at the signs. How many houses, duplexes and small apartment buildings are advertising? That will tell you that at least here in the heart of commie land the housing shortage has been a lie for decades. The expectation inflation is the issue, not the housing availability.
None of the foregoing discounts the degree to which gubmint magic money has driven the costs (and expectations) past the limits of absurd.

CIA declassified doc details how US military plotted to kill Americans to justify going to war with Cuba
Code-named Operation Northwoods, this top-secret plot proposed killing innocent people and enacting terrorism on US cities in what are known as ‘false flag operations’, then blaming Cuba for these crimes to trick the public into supporting war efforts to oust communist Fidel Castro.
‘We could develop a Communist Cuban terror campaign in the Miami area, in other Florida cities and even in Washington,’ the document states, among dozens of other violent ideas of how to incite American hostility against the island nation.
US officials even proposed killing their own soldiers, writing: ‘We could blow up a US ship in Guantanamo Bay and blame Cuba,’ and, ‘casualty lists in US newspapers would cause a helpful wave of national indignation.’
Operation Northwoods was signed by the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) in 1962 but was rejected by then-President John F. Kennedy.
