The Democrats in the Senate are back to their old tricks of using delay tactics to stall President Trump’s nominees for cabinet positions.
The nomination of CIA Director John Ratcliffe passed out of the Senate Intelligence Committee with a vote of 14-3. However, when the Majority Leader John Thune calls the Ratcliffe nomination to the floor for a full Senate vote, suddenly individual Senators start using procedural processes to delay the votes.
The issue is not about Ratcliffe per se’, without doubt Ratcliffe will pass a full senate confirmation vote without issue when it takes place. The Democrats are using Ratcliffe to set the stage for delays in Pete Hegseth to be Defense secretary and Kristi Noem to be DHS secretary; along with a pending confirmation hearing set for Tulsi Gabbard (DNI) and Kash Patel (FBI).
This ultimately becomes the first test for Senate Majority Leader John Thune, who has previously said he would fully support a rapid confirmation process for all of President Trump’s nominees. Former Majority Leader Mitch McConnell did nothing to force the Upper Chamber to confirm, Senator John Thune does not want to be seen as following McConnell’s path. WATCH:

Leader Thune and Senator Barrasso (#2) are now pledging to keep the Senate in session until the nominees are confirmed. This stops the Senators from going home but inevitably ends up on a game of attrition. Whose determination will last longest, the minority resistance or the Senate majority.
This activity in the Senate comes as the latest Presidential Tracking Poll shows a net approval of +14, President Trump’s highest approval rating ever. The Democrats in the upper chamber are walking a narrow path of irrelevance; however, they are counting on their superiority in the Senate to outlast any negative public opinion.

The Republicans in the Senate need to crush the Democrats and Thune has to lead the charge. If they don’t, we know they are compromised.
Else, Trump has to go around Thune with the Emergency Order option.

The arrest and detention of those in the prison system defying the pardons and playing transfer games with the pardoned individuals. They are now derpriving rights, illegally detaining, and kidnapping people. Why hasn’t this been addresssed yet? A Democrat admin would have handled this already.Why are those who fraudulently changed their titles not been fired and removed by security? Why haven’t those who help do the deed been fired and removed by security? Again, a democrat admin does this already.Why haven’t those mayors, Congressmen like AOC, or media members who are attempting to disclose ICE raids, giving advice on how to evade, and other ways of aiding and abetting not being arrested under the federal code? Again, these people continue to get away with everything.

MAGA rally in each state where there’s resistance, regardless of the wing of the uniparty bird that is creating the resistance. Call them out by name and put every possible piece of pressure you have available. Descend on them like a bolt of lightening. Target the weakest hardest.

Thune may posture as not McConnell, but he is McConnell. They have the same paymasters, who want the same thing, to destroy Trump.
My guess is that McConnell still controls the Republican Senate Campaign Finance Committee funds, and Thune will be wearing training wheels until McConnell dies. He has to do what his paymasters demand, or else the paymasters will overthrow him.
Rubio was McConnell’s pick, and the Uniparty purred. Others, McConnell will do his usual, as he preps to send Trump trillions of ironclad spending as his paymasters demand. Veto or sign, no discussion permitted.
The EO’s are fine, but the Uniparty is planning on waiting Trump out everywhere else. The budget is the thing, and Thune is tasked with keeping Trump out of it.
a quick observation of trump’s determination so far would indicate thune isn’t shoving trump anywhere. trump will send the mess home.
McConnell may be on his last legs but it seems the senate is willing to wheel in near corpses in each vote rather then push them to retire. They should be give a mental acuity test every six months to see if they are still up to the task. Quite a few a likely to fail.

Pres Trump already has his acting directors firing people and implementing EO’s. He doesn’t need Pete, Kash, Tulsi, Pam ir RFK to continue the process of organizational decapitation. And Democrats have nobody they can really attack during that process.
A delay, while annoying, gives Trump time to clear the decks of #resistance forces before his cabinet heads arrive. They can then either reorganize and restaff or just restaff.

May I just suggest that to take the pressure off, Thune & Johnson recess the House & Senate for 60 days and put the heat on PDJT to use the recess to appoint them. This would take a great deal of heat off of the RINO’s in the upcoming midterms, or maybe NOT.

It would be easier to recess the Senate for three weeks, let President Trump make recess appointments, and then reschedule all the confirmation hearings and votes. I believe this would give them until January 2027.

Sounds to me like President Trump needs to send a nuke of a message to the senate by signing an executive order that standardizes elections for federal offices. One day voting, ID required, paper ballots, citizens only, hand counting, secured chain of custody, tracking devices attached to all ballot storage and transfer containers as well as video cameras online for all to see.

In the end, this comes down to Trump. He should do this in private for now. But he should let these Senators know that if they don’t go along 100% swiftly and unequivocally with his agenda then he will descend on them with every ounce of power he has to get them voted out of office and also to withstand the anal exam he has withstood over the years. Every single financial transaction they or their families or cronies have ever made will be scrutinized.
If he doesn’t do this, then we will have 4 more years just like the first 4; with the GOP fighting Trump as much if not more than the Democrats. NEVER FORGET, the GOP was in on the coup against Trump.

After reading all comments on this post so far, I still cannot answer Sundance’s question: Who is John Thune? I go with my gut about a lot things, but my gut has no feeling none tonight about Thune. Nothing. Seems there is nothing that I can relate to.
Am I sensing that he is an “empty suit?” I dunno. But what comes to mind are all of the “Laurel and Hardy” movies I bought for my Dad that I still have on VHS. Many of these movies show a bad actor being pulled off the stage with a long iron hook.
I want divided government and an examination of legitimate opposing policies. But the Dhimmies have abandon normal debate for ad hominem smears, insults, and fantasies, while engaging in sabotage of our vital institutions. The policy of suspending the Congress should never be embraced. Citing Lincoln’s tyrannical methods, with which he destroyed the Republic and killed a million Americans is nothing to build anything on. These policies are such only a Stalin or Hitler could applaud or someone who turns a blind eye to his wanton deeds of unnecessary bloodshed. As for FDR, I would mention his policies only if I wished to illustrate someone worse than Lincoln and whose assinine policies still haunt us. One only look at Social Security and his use of the commerce clause to destroy America most of us cherish, if only in our dreams.
