There were three Senate committee confirmation hearings scheduled for today, two of them have been cancelled due to the FBI not providing the committees with background reports. Considering the way DC operates, and considering the Senate operators wanted to totally focus on Pete Hegseth as their first scalp, the clearing of the decks to focus exclusively on Hegseth is not coincidental.

Yep … SOFA is actually “Foreign Policy” implementation, hence the Secretary of State. There are quite few interesting areas of responsibility that fall under the secretary of State that are not discussed.
As an aside, those responsibilities also have allot of Financial, Import/Export and Trade areas of authority. That is why Hillary Clinton so readily agreed to be Obama’s Secretary of State as the consolation prize for not being named VP and bowing out of of the 2008 primaries so readily. The Clinton Foundation’s pocket book got really fat off that tour of duty and then there are the international contacts gained for future business.

I served during the Vietnam War. As a flight line crew chief, we helped one another when we had idle time. One of my favorites was the crew chief Tsgt. Brown of a T-39, which I’d go on test flights after maintenance. Tsgt Brown was killed in his plane in a mid air collision. He was a great person. My nephew went into the Army and was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. His biggest gripe about the military was in basic training with women, they had so much easier standards. He didn’t ever want to be in combat with any of them.
Not only should women not be in combat they should be at home taking care of the children (plenty of combat there), the house and making dinner. She could also help out at the schools her children attend, and perform other volunteer duties as time permits but always be at home to greet her husband when he comes home from work. Yes, I am “old school” and proud of it. Although I must be honest and state that I did have a career as a government paralegal only because my husband insisted that I go to work so we could have more money. Sometimes you just can’t win.

I watched the whole thing including listen to the democrats “questions”. I think he was great. The lame democrats were going to sling their mud, but it didn’t stick. Pete was confident and knowledgeable on issues that matter,,,war fighting, strategy, recruitment, standards, peace through strength, America First, etc, A great start to the cabinet confirmations.

The US Govt makes me sick. All they care about is their own prestigious life style of power -it’s addictive. They care not the destruction they do as long as they have theirs. Like a bunch of Coke heads thinking they are better than the common man because they have a six star lifestyle.
Best thing for the federal government is to be shut down and remade.
Nearly every one of our elected officials lack humility. Nothing demonstrates this more than a House or Senate hearing.
