There were three Senate committee confirmation hearings scheduled for today, two of them have been cancelled due to the FBI not providing the committees with background reports. Considering the way DC operates, and considering the Senate operators wanted to totally focus on Pete Hegseth as their first scalp, the clearing of the decks to focus exclusively on Hegseth is not coincidental.

We need a strong military where warring is the focus and merit is at its core. I promote peace wherever possible but the US military must return to being a lethal force. A lethal force that our enemies fear. We need to be the meanest sons of bitches on and off the battlefield when our national security is at risk, even if that means domestically. With decisive warring plans, we can return from the battle field in the most expedient victories. No more medical or social experimentation on our blood and treasure. We need to return to those flag waving parades I remember as a little girl. Hegeseth may not be a perfect man, but hes seen enough to have steeled his mind and character. And judging from his supporters of team members he carries the respect of the troops. Then we need to investigate, charge, prosecute and imprison all those Pentagon/DOD officers who took us down the path of Covid jabs, DEI and all those social programs of the Democrats. We need to re-evaluate the role of women in combat positions and land on policies that keep our military secure and cohesive with troops capable of carrying out their mission unhindered by teammates who cannot carry their weight. American wants to be proud of our service members again.

It’s part of the “Advice and Consent” power of the Senate. The committee hearing process and vote were established by the Senate itself.

The Constitution does not provide for Senators voting to approve Cabinet choices. Their obligation was originally limited to “advise and consent” – consent being the operative word. As noted by Wethal, the Senate itself added the voting aspect, even though not provided for in the Constitution. One of numerous instances where the Constitution was not followed as intended, going all the way back to the beginning of the Republic.
This century has seen mostly weird, bizarre and demonic from Washington DC! Mostly bought about by allowing billionaires so much voice and power to do as they like.

The Senate process is set up by the Senate itself. If it wants to do it this way, and have a nominee vetted before the president takes office it can. The only constitutional requirement is that Trump nominate and the Senate “advice and consent”.
So that the cabinet is seated and ready to go with once the president is inaugurated.
Master’s Degree from Harvard’s JFK School? That’s the only strike I see against him for the job, as far a I can tell. However, it is usually considered a jewel in someone’s crown, for the deep state politicians, because if Harvard is in control of the subject, it will be anti Constitutional.
A wise man once said…something to the effect of “if there is a problem in government, you can be sure a man from Harvard is involved….” or something similar…
