Various media outlets are saying approximately 10 republican senators are in opposition to the nomination of Matt Gaetz for various DeceptiCon reasons. More than likely the same ones who supported AG Merrick Garland, I digress.
Into this mix of squishy spinelessness comes former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy who has an axe to grind against his former nemesis.
WASHINGTON DC – Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy does not believe outgoing Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) will be confirmed as attorney general by the Senate after President-elect Donald Trump selected him as his nominee on Wednesday.
Some of Trump’s picks for his Cabinet, including Gaetz for attorney general and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard for director of national intelligence, have garnered strong reactions on Capitol Hill and in the wider political world. McCarthy, whose speakership was ended by a successful motion to vacate filed by Gaetz in October 2023, told Bloomberg he believes Trump’s nominees are good, except for Gaetz.
“I think the choices are very good, except one. Gaetz won’t get confirmed, everybody knows that,” McCarthy said.
When pressed on why he thinks Trump picked Gaetz for his attorney general nominee, McCarthy said it was a “good deflection” but did not elaborate further.
McCarthy and Gaetz have had a public feud over the past several years, coming to a head during the former’s bid for House speaker in 2023. The Florida Republican led efforts to block his bid for speaker in January 2023, leading to 15 rounds of voting, and had threatened to file a motion to vacate against McCarthy until he did on Oct. 3, 2023.
Since McCarthy’s removal, he has not minced words about Gaetz. In April, the former speaker claimed the Florida congressman ousted him because Gaetz wanted to stop an ethics complaint alleging he slept with a minor. Gaetz has flatly denied the allegations and called McCarthy a “liar.”
The former House speaker did praise Trump’s other Cabinet picks, including Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) for secretary of state. (read more)

We all know what McCarthy is / was. Why is anyone giving this Democrat a voice?
Exactly – gettemouttahere!
And take his coat!
Why is McCarthy relevant to anything at this time?
He supposedly still has ‘connections’ throughout the DC deep state……….but that also means he most likely thinks he can influence the process.
All the swamp critters will be slithering out from under their rocks to fight this…
As always, the media amplifies any republican voice that parrots the media narrative of the day.
Question is ,is he right,I hope not .
Yes, rino senators will not confirm! He should not have resigned!
He can be appointed to replace Rubio in the Senate if they don’t confirm him and there is nothing they can do to stop that.
IMESHO, Gaetz needs to challenge McCarthy, Cornball, Murkykowski, and any other loser about his integrity and professionalism. U.S. Law says that someone is “innocent until proven guilty”, but the public court of ignorance will accept the invalidated testimony of the victim without forensic proof. We seen enough fantasy attacks against famous people that become easy targets. The other problem that you face is the fact that the wobbleheaded prosecutors are publicly funded by our tax dollars, while the defendant must finance their own defense. IMESHO, if the prosecution cannot procure a conviction within a reasonable time, the defendant should be able to sue for all expenses and for mental anguish.
Either prove Gaetz is guilty, or SHUT UP!!!
As I asked in my post later, we all know these never MAGA are being obstructionists for much more than they dislike Trump. I am positive all are involved either in the profiting of the corruption, or have been compromised like Epstein s targets, to leverage them into these positions. The best way to defeat this would be if Trumps camp had had a team of investigators deep diving and unearth the evidence or misconduct that would counter every single on of them.
McCarthy’s pronouns are bitter/has been.
My pronoun is “Unburdened”, by the way.
It’s the UniParty and it’s propaganda machine. They need to derail as many of his appointees as possible. It is in their highest priority to not let Trumps appointments to create teams of information researchers, and release and expose them for their crimes and corruption, and their coordinating in a conspiracy, that all leads to sedition and treason. The have broken so many rules of ethics and law, but only because Biden had his hacks only allowing investigations and indictments to go one way.
And to think he was being considered for the Chief of Staff position. (Or at least rumored to being)
McCarthy likely leaked that to the media himself.🫤
Sour dude, McCarthy
This quote written by the most based Washingtonian Frank Herbert sums up the Uni-party to a tee:
“When I am weaker than you I ask you for freedom because that is according to your principles; when I am stronger than you I take away your freedom because that is according to my principles”
Maybe someone can hop over to Fremont and carve this under that imported Lenin statue?
Squeal LOUDER you phv<ks!
Trump won.
Kamala lost.
End of story
As somebody once said: “Elections have consequences.”
Obama publicly embarassed McCain at a packed staff table at the WH after their electoral clash.
“Elections have consequences, John.”
McCain was so naive!
No, he was a backstabbing traitor and a mean, petty little man.
Juan McStain.
That was televised, wasn’t it?
If they don’t get Gaetz through I hope Trumps replacement make him look like the Dalai Lama.
Recess Appointment…
Watch for them to stay in session for four years…
And I believe it only takes one Senator put break put the Senate into a recess. Four years ago, think who was in the Senate back then. And not one stood up for President Trump.
I think Tuberville would
I saw a scenario outlined today by Tim Pool who said the House Speaker can ask to adjourn Congress, and if the Senate does not go along, President Trump could declare the Congress to be in recession and make appointments thereafter. I will have to look for that in the Constitution.
Confirmed below!
I will be glad when McCarthy is completely out of politics. He is just another non-productive RINO.
With respect to Mr. Gaetz, Patriots need to see who votes against him, because the next time they are up for election we can vote accordingly.
Just one note: The senate is a worthless and corrupt organization.
“The senate is a worthless and corrupt organization.”
It was that way prior to the 17th Amendment (with corruption of State governments in the vying for national Senate seats), and is currently that way again. Perhaps if every state had a recall trigger for Senators, to accompany the proposed term limits for legislators….
As for the votes on Gaetz…I fully expect Gaetz to be appointed acting USAG, with his full appointment being a recess appointment coming through a forced adjournment/recess.
With that, I expect the media to go the full monty on “SEE!!! We told you Trump’s a Fascist!!!”. Not that I’d care…
I hope your right!!!
Ant wait that long. That would allow them to thwart all he intends to do. Recess appointments and start publicly declaring with evidence of crimes or ethical/personal misconduct they have engaged in. Let the light shine brightly.
Bloomberg?
Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution should take care of getting Gaetz, Kennedy, Gabbard, et.al. through the process provide PDJT has the audacity to take advantage of it. Full steam ahead….
I don’t understand how that article II, sec 3 works???
As I understand it, the House votes for Recess, the Senate objects, the President then has the right to resolve the situation and put Congress in to Recess.
This is very good about what is going happen. ;
what started out as Senatorial “courtesy ….etc.
he does not Need the Senate “APPROVAL
Trump is taking us back to the original constitution….
the short answer is Trump won `and gets to pick his own cabinet. It’s in our constitution.
Hope the Supremes agree, cause that’s what this is headed…
Can’t see how in the world this would be left up to the Supreme Court. 3 Separate branches? And as mentioned above, it is constitutionlly fine.
From what I understand of the Article…the President can unilaterally adjourn both houses during “extraordinary circumstances”. He needs not wait for the Speaker of the House to move for House adjournment.
While listed among the President’s powers, no President has ever used this right. Should PTrump use this right, I’d expect a fierce blowback from the RINO’s, Dems, and the media.
That said – the USSC has already affirmed Executive power earlier this year, and would likely confirm this adjournment power as well.
I suspect this power hasn’t been invoked before, as using it would set a precedence of being used. It could be corrupted and severely abused. That said – I view this current widespread and deep rot within the government to be “extraordinary circumstances”.
Here’s The Text –
” He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper; ”

Supremes gonna be busy.
Hence PDJT’S superb pick for Solicitor General.
There’s a war on, dontchaknow?
😈
Buzz off McCarthy, nobody cares.
I hope DeSantis leaves Rubio’s Senate seat unfilled until after Gaetz is confirmed or rejected as AG. If rejected, put him in the Senate seat.
…Unless Laura Trump is offered the Senate seat?
Gaetz has to be first option. That’s part of the leverage to get him in as AG.
I love the gaetz ag pick more than i can express, but please help me understand – how threatening to have him be one vote in the senate is any leverage to get him confirmed as AG? he’d be able to accomplish as much in the senate as he did in the house (which is to say, nothing)
This is all about “Senate Confirmation” and whether or not it is “constitutional.”
Trump is literally nominating every single person that the enemy hates and almost all of them are being accused of “not qualified.”
This fight is over whether or not a president gets to choose his own cabinet to run the “Executive Branch.”
SEPARATION OF POWERS
Congress will no longer be able to prevent a president elected by the people from fulfilling his promises by appointing the people he needs in place.
The Senate has encroached on the Executive Branch powers in regards to appointments.
“The framers of the Constitution granted the Senate, and the president shared power to appoint judges and civil officers. That shared power remains in place, but the way in which the Senate has exercised that power has changed over the course of its history.
Trump is taking us back to the original constitution my friends.
This is the opening salvo of reining in Congressional encroachment on the Executive Branch.
Interesting!
Panicked attacks. Threats of non-confirmation.
PTrump’s nominee is directly over target.
Good.
If these RINO’s had nothing to hide, they wouldn’t be reacting to Matt Gaetz’s nomination with such vitriol. Yes, that’s…ugh…Democrat “logic”, but you know the saying: sauce, goose, gander – some assembly required.
I hear Nikki needs a shoulder to cry on. OWMA – Obsolete Warmongers Anonymous
as a natural born American whose ancestors were here before the Revolution, fought in the Revolution, had two grandad’s who fought in the civil War where one of them was killed, I RESENT Nikki and the rest of the non natural borns running for POTUS. Nikki couldn’t answer a question she was asked about the civil war, has no deep knowledge of America and is a bounder. My hope is America gets back to natural born Americans running for POTUS
Totally agree. I am quite tired of all the foreigners in our country running things they have no business running. We Americans are capable of running our own government, thank you very much.
Well, I’ll make one exception- recent African American arrival:
Elon Musk
Some immigration is good…
I agree with you, merry. My family has been here longer than this country has existed. Fought against Great Britain in the Revolution, fought in the Civil War. I really resent those who try to claim we are all emigrants to this country. My family are not emigrants. We are charter members of this country.
My family fought in the Revolution too, both in Virginia and in Pennsylvania…. both members were Patriots fighting against the red coats. They have plaques dated from the late 1700’s for their service each of them in their hometowns. We came here in 1640’s from London.
Deep roots here too. My fam lived in houses made of sod on the frontier, homesteading in Nebraska. These grifters have no concept of the sacrifices made for them to live here. Drives me nuts.
can anyone tell me how often congress takes a recess, please. how can Trump have a cabinet he wants on Jan 20? is he going to fire current biden cabinet?
McConnell never put the Senate in recess for the entirety of Trump’s first term.
I expect Thune will pull the same crap.
I agree. He’s McConnell, Jr.
McThune!
Once President Trump takes the oath of office and is inaugurated, Biden leaves and all of Biden’s cabinet leave with him. They are automatically gone.
I predict McCarthy is a has been…oh wait…
NO MERCY!
What does Luntz have to say?
MADE Me LAUGH !
They STILL ” Room Mates ” ?
Room mates with benefits
Kevvie should tell Frankie that one does not wear a merkin on top of one’s head. 🤣🤣🤣
Can’t talk. Has something in his mouth.
To those who commented in a derogatory tone regarding Doug Collins comment on President Trump’s nomination of Matt Gaetz as Attorney General, : “Interesting”.
I call your attention to President Trump’s most recent nomination: Congressman Doug Collins as Veterans Affairs Secretary.
You may not like his Georgia Twang but don’t question his belief, sincerity and loyalty to President Trump and the MAGA Agenda.
https://nypost.com/2024/11/14/us-news/trump-picks-ex-georgia-congressman-doug-collins-for-veterans-affairs-secretary/?lctg=607d90e6373dd11b6ec0dde5
This Veteran hails that choice.
The VA has such a long way to go.
I love his GA twang… as I have one, too, although mine doesn’t say the intelligent and quick witted things like Doug.😘 haha!
After putting up with Kemp and Raffensperger, Doug Collins makes me proud I’m from Georgia.
He’s just a good man doing the right thing for the right reasons. 🙏🏻🇺🇸❤️
From 2016 up to 2024, eight years, Trump has been in purgatory now he is in Paradise, thanks G…
And l give rats ass what Kevie says, WHY?
Wow. No sour grapes there……. /s
I read somewhere that if Gaetz is denied by the Senate for AG, DeSantis could nominate to fill Rubio’s senate seat.
Either way we might just win!
Replacement for AG? Paxton in Texas as suggested by Sundance.
Never doubt that Trump will have a back-up plan. It would not surprise me at all that Gaetz is sitting as a sacrificial lamb used to satiate the Senate’s appetite for public displays of grandeur. While the Senate is busy snapping their suspenders over rejecting Gaetz, Trump will push Paxton on them. Trump wants Paxton, but needs to have a bait-and-switch tactic ready to deploy as he knows the D.C. swamp much better this time around. Gaetz will not disappear from public view. There’s a place for him somewhere in this mess we call our government.
Thanks, this here makes sense
And don’t lose any sleep over Gaetz getting beat up in this confirmation process. He’s been close enough to the heat to have developed thick skin. Whether it be in a cabinet position or occupying a legislative seat, Gaetz will find his way into the evening news cycle, and under the thin skin of prominent democrats, on a regular basis over the next four years.
That’s what I thought he was going to do!
Reposting closer to the end of the thread for visibility, because I’d love to hear something to be optimistic about:
I love the gaetz ag pick more than i can express, but please help me understand – how threatening to have him be one vote in the senate is any leverage to get him confirmed as AG? he’d be able to accomplish as much in the senate as he did in the house (which is to say, nothing)
Can Trump simply make Gaetz the interim AG for the next four years? Or is there a rule or law that would prevent that?
IIRC, Congressional sessions begin on Jan 3rd of each year by law and then run until both houses end the session. If both houses agree, they may recess for variable periods during each session. The recess clause allows the President to make appointments during the recess periods, but they are only valid until the end of the next session. McConnell made it impossible for Trump to make such appointments by holding the Senate in fake sessions where only a couple Senators remained in DC. Thune promised to allow such appointments.
Both houses don’t have to agree. If they are in disagreement, then the President may call them into recess for as long as he sees fit. So all Trump needs is for Big Mike Johnson to agree to a recess. Agreement from the Senate then is not necessary. Notice that Trump appeared before the House yesterday to endorse Big Mike Johnson. This has been the plan all along. Trump calls a recess on Day One, because “the business of the American people can’t wait” on a long drawn out Senate confirmation process, and Trump needs his entire administration to “get to work on Day One.” This is what Trump meant when he said he would be “dictator for a day” on his first day in office.
Article II, Section 3
He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper; he shall receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers; he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and shall Commission all the Officers of the United States.
“Thune promised”
That and $6.50 will get you a cup of coffee…
PT just announced his 2 personal attorneys are his pick for the #2 and #3 slot at the DOJ. Remember these two guys fought face to face against Jack Smith’s attacks on PT.
So it would seem they know/understand Jack pretty well.
Does this signal that the hunted now are the hunters?
With Paxton’s Tues lawsuit filing, demanding all Jack Smith documents be retained (not destroyed) and with these two guys to go along with Gaetz does it seem like possibly Jack, Garland and even possibly Biden are their first investigative targets?
And if this is the investigative target, is the objective to determine if a conspiracy/collusion existed to go after Trump the candidate?
Any thoughts Sundance?
And that’s why we threw his arse out.
Gaetz visited El Salvador recently:
https://x.com/BehizyTweets/status/1857201490080731503
Currently the safest & cleanest country in the western hemisphere.
Screw McCarthy.
Watch McCarthy lobby DemScum to block Gaetz
Recess appointment
Cronyn waited 8 hours to go from “we’ll get Trump’s cabinet confirmed” to ” I want the house to release the results of the ethics investigation on Rep Gaetz”
The color of the RINOs is in plain site.
Now they want to open a new investigation. wow!
In September 2022, after more than two years of investigating Gaetz, prosecutors recommended that no charges be filed against the Florida congressman.
Five months later, in February 2023, the department formally closed the investigation.
How about this? We investigate cornyn….? I’m sure PDJT knows what’s in his closet as well. No more rope a dope with these thugs and slugs.
Oh poor Kevin… bullies can stay away, perhaps CNN needs you for your great insight.
We all KNOW why they don’t like Gaetz. The uniparty always protects people like the Epstein & Diddy connected. And we all KNOW why.
We need an AG that will go after the uniparty oligarchs. That will go after the Diddy, Epsteins & Clinton connected psychopaths. We also must go after those behind, covid, election theft, the vaxx, j6 etc. And finally, Michael Leroy Byrd and Lila Morris MUST be held accountable
We know that, and the RINOs will do anything to stop it…
All McCarthy is, is a mouthpiece for Luntz.
Well,… uhhh…. oh, never mind.
IMESHO, Gaetz should push for the release of the “ethics complaint”. Either the House NEEDS to confirm the complaint with solid evidence, lie detector evaluation, and collaborating evidence, or Gaetz should sue the source of the complaint, those promulgating the slander, and any others involved in the conspiracy and own those losers. Time to go on the offensive and strongly shut the negativity down. Any innuendo without evidence should be considered harassment, and those creating that should suffer legal consequences.
Three Potential Solutions if Gaetz can’t get confirmed:
(1) The obvious RECESS APPOINTMENT to which Thune, Cornyn, and Scott all agreed.
(2) My understanding is that the VP — as the President of the Senate — can preside over Senate sessions and thus, instead of a Treasonous Majority Leader like a McConnell or a Thune, can choose whom to recognize for proposed legislation & debate (and which Traitors to ignore).
I’ve heard that Trump considered doing this in his first term, but of course that rat-bastard Pence wouldn’t cooperate.
Let’s have JD Vance run the Senate daily when they’re in session — and have frequent recesses so that Trump can make recess appointments. MOAR BOSS MOVES!
It is actually the constitutional option. Only leaders in the House and Senate specified by the Constitution are the Speaker of the House and the Vice President of the US who is also President of the Senate. The rules of either house flow downhill from those particular offices.
In many states, the Lt. Gov fulfills the original role of the VP in the US Constitution by running state Senates (sometimes that is affected somewhat by party control).
(3) I’ve previously proposed that Trump serially nominate hardcore MAGA who likely can’t get confirmed — and have them just mock Senators during hearings while they fail — one after another.
Meanwhile … he can appoint even MOAR hardcore MAGA “Acting Deputies” to drain the swamp-creatures from and run those very departments in their stead …
I read the constitution over just last night, if I’m remembering correctly, the only actual power the ‘president of the senate’ has, is breaking ties…
I like #2 though
I heard a scholar talking about this on the Glenn Beck show. He was pretty damn confident #2 above is a fact.
If Gaetz does not get Senate approval, could Trump still give him a Recess Appointment? Or if there is that much vocal resistance, it might be better to not even seek a Senate approval and just wait for a recess to appoint him.
There are also some positions that don’t require Senate approval, so worst-case scenario he could take one of those positions.
The FBI ran a honeypot operation against Gaetz, and failed. Now the reckoning begins.
Everyone here already knows all about the Uniparty but Establishment Republican Senators voting against the American people and the mandate they gave President Trump will open even more eyes. Hopefully, exposing themselves will make it easier to primary these traitors and stop them from continuing to work against the American people. I would imagine there’s an awful lot of dirt to be found on these Senators. Prosecuting a few of them would go a long way in cleaning up the Senate.
Well, like SD mentioned. If Gaetz isn’t confirmed (and all armaments available will be used) then being appointed to the Senate to replace Rubio would be quite something. Make Amchitka look like a wet match.
Kevin McCarthy’s fangs need to be pulled. His unrelenting bitterness and enmity toward Mztt Gaetz, are harmful and unproductive.
McCarthy still bitter with Matt Gaetz, move on McCarthy,
Gaetz entirely explains the Rubio pick.
Hey dems, you want a AG Gaetz or a Senator Gaetz?
So here’s the thing. “OK, Senator Thune, get your whip to get behind him or we’ll have DeSantis appoint him to Rubio’s vacated seat, and then he becomes a pain in YOUR butt. So, it would behoove you to back him. Have a nice day.”
I think the Swamp fears him less as a Senator, and more as an AG with real legal power…
apologies if this has been asked and answered already, but does the Senate have to confirm ‘acting’ or ‘temporary’ Attorneys General?
As recess appointments, no.
Also a previously Senate confirmed person could be assigned such roles without revisiting that cesspool.
Thomas Massie says the opposite of Irrelevant McCarthy:
https://truthsocial.com/users/CitizenFreePress/statuses/113480157596078945
It’ll be fun getting into those FBI files to see what GOP Senators do on Friday night pizza night. Then whip count the votes…
the nomination of Matt Gaetz
He ran rings around that strident witch.
He was speaker of the house I think.
I am wondering, more hoping, that one of the things done previously by Trump and his inner circle, has been to identify the people they were expecting trouble from, and especially Repubs. I am quite certain they have. But I would take it one step further, which is what I am hoping about. And that is they have done their own extensive ‘ opposition research ‘, and figure out what and who have compromised these never Trumpers. I am sure each one has very specific crimes that make it necessary to be blocking Trump and his agenda. Because it would seem to me, that releasing the information would cause removal of all these traitors.
This was the mandate of the people!
Recess appointment. Suck on that McCarthy.
President Trump had to know he would not get support for Matt from the Senate. So is he so sure of being able to use a recess appointment to get him in? Is this a massive test for the Senate of their “assurance” to allow recess appointments? It’s a massive challenge so early.
I’d love to get Gaetz in this role. Not sure it will ever happen. Is this a HUGE distraction to take heat off other nominations? There has to be a strategy behind it…and not just “trolling”. Whatever it is, it has blown up the process and set EVERYONE’S hair on fire.
I can’t vouch for the veracity, only that I heard it on Glenn Beck this morning, so obviously not word of God. That said, I heard, or read, that Thune was going to allow recess appointments and the guest on Beck said that Gaetz was going to be appointed in an interim 2 year capacity during a recess. I guess we’ll have to stay tuned.
Sean Davis from The Federalist had an interesting notion: He said these senators who say they will not vote to confirm Gaetz have the choice between Gaetz being AG, or having DeSantis appoint Gaetz to fill Rubio’s seat and having him around them for many years to come!
Sorry, I wrote this comment before seeing that Sundance had already posted this idea in an earlier article.
