I’ve read a lot of comments re the Vance/TW debate last night. The concensus is Vance won.
Watching it myself, I thought TW did better than the pundits say and far better than I expected, which upset me during the debate. While watching it I became angry w/Vance wanting him to hit harder against TW’s accusations against PDJT.
However, it appears Vance didn’t do that b/c he was trying to prove what a professional, intelligent, stable and gracious guy he is… and he is. I already knew that… but a chunk of the public did not know that but they witnessed that themselves last night.
Vance’s professionalism, even facing another blatantly biased moderator panel, was admirable.
The concensus is Vance won, hands down. Many comments I read said: “thank you Vance for a professional presidential debate.” Ok. 😊
A friend of mine felt the same way as you – frustrated that JD didn’t “go on the attack”, in her words. But, as I told her, this debate was meant to present Vance as a calm, competent professional who doesn’t need to engage in insults against someone who is so clearly less intelligent than he.
JD took on Walz, AND the two moderators, and did so in a manner that will win over moderates and independents, who might be concerned about Donald Trump’s temperament. And I believe that was the whole point of the debate from our side’s point of view!

My sentiment to a “T” and I just posted much the same gripe re Vance and his civility toward Walz.

To be frank, I only had the sand to watch until the “moderators”(narrative engineers) asked about climate change and not the abject travesty of a lack of response to the Appalachian Armageddon following Helene.
I had to turn it off, get on my SE bikes PK Big Ripper bicycle and ride about 6 miles round trip as fast as I possibly could on a dirt road by LED headlamp just to “get my mind right”.
JDs pink lip gloss and eyeliner were a bit much and I had already had a bellyful watching walz’s mouth form lies.
Ride a bike? Like tampon did? Were the street lights on?

What I do know is that sexual abuse in childhood, like other forms of abuse, can and usually does leave a person with mental health issues. Not all people will act out, but a lot of these people, assuming they survive, will never be able to think/behave in a functioning society. Sexual abuse is too awful not to mentally leave your body.
Which could be why we already have a large segment of the population who can’t understand the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, state or local laws, how to run a household, keep a job, maintain a committed marriage, stay off the sauce, etc. We often talk about where did all these mentally ill homeless come from? (Aside from PTSD type issues, which are kind of a different form of abuse.)

In the mid-1990s, the horrible overland floods were destroying small towns and farmland across eastern ND and western MN. Word got around VERY quickly that funds given to the Red Cross were, specifically, NOT going to help the immediate situation there. That situation was being used to prime the pumps so people would give.

About 40 years ago, I read an article where the ARC charged a victim for a blanket…at some response they were at…left a bad taste in my 20 something mouth…

The animals including livestock will be the last on the list that is why I will donate to animal care. I disagree completely with your assessment…Vance’s job last night was to come across as calm, reasonable, and highly qualified to be able to step into his role and he succeeded admirably, in direct contrast to the “knuckleheads” Walz!
As for his story, I strongly suspect that he was talking about a family member, but he used the phrase “close friend” so as to shield her identity. His obvious pain when talking about the abortion was palpable and I think he got his point across well. The GOP has not always handled this subject well, and IMHO, he was offering an olive branch to those who call themselves “pro choice” but are NOT virulently pro abortion!!

In fact, it is amazing that this Mosaic legal code has since served effectively as the basic legal code for all the greatest nations in modern history. This in itself is clear testimony to its divine origin and is therefore justification for retaining and implementing it wherever possible, even today.
Sadly, however, modern political and judicial practices are departing further and further from this divine standard. The philosophies of evolution and relativism dominate our schools of law today, and the concept of absolute principles of righteousness and justice, rooted in the nature of God as Creator and in His revelation, are largely being replaced by legislation based on evolving social policies and preferences. Even the Ten Commandments are banned from our schools, despite the fact that they are engraved in the Supreme Court building itself.
It is sobering to consider that God did not even spare His beloved nation Israel when His people departed from His law. Nor will He spare America if our growing rebellion against His Word goes on much longer. HMM

The apathetic public is placated into compliance through consumerism, media control, censorship, propaganda, and a political system that offers limited choice within a very controlled spectrum of political thought (“Overton window”). Although elections continue, they are constrained to the range of acceptable candidates and solutions, which are limited to those that corporate-controlled MSM supports and pre-selects through processes that are only partially transparent. The Overton window, which describes the range of allowed public discourse, is actively controlled. The result is that the final candidates in significant elections do not threaten corporatist control of government, and legislative actions are massaged to produce bills favorable to the economic interests that control the State.

If there is just one legitimate job that Government has at all levels it is preventing this sort of cost-cutting and engineering malfeasance whether through ignorance or simply to pocket the money that should have been spent. Government failed here just as it has many times before and then of course none of the politicians want to accept their piece of the blame for it and much of it was politics. FEMA, for example, could have trivially bought and stored a thousand Starlink terminals which can blanket an impacted area with usable signal and they require only a modest amount of power to run, even when all other infrastructure in an area has been destroyed. That would cost less than a million dollars including a small generator to power each and they have a zero recurring cost until they’re needed, and then once the disaster is mitigated they can be boxed back up and await the next need. Private parties are doing exactly that right now in the impacted areas.

I’m not sure I’d restrict civil service jobs to native born, but I’d certainly keep all the DEI which favors foreigners out.
I’m thinking the idea that you can’t come in as a “refugee” or a chain immigrant or as a diversity pick and hold office has merit.
This would prevent rural areas that have large numbers of “asylum seekers” dumped on them from effectively becoming disenfranchised in an outpost of a foreign nation.
Is it not weird that Canada’s Attorney General Arif Virani who was born in Uganda and came to Canada as a refugee is pushing the most draconian speech laws ever seen in Canada?
And Canada’s Crown-Indigenous Relations minister Gary Anadasangree who was born in Sri Lanka and also came to Canada as a refugee is now supporting wildly unconstitutional hate speech laws?

Well, I think a case could be made that many with dual citizenship with Israel, have a primary allegiance that is not to the United States. It is a curious phenomenon.
