According to Fox News the acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe has asked protective operations Asst Director Michael Plati to resign his position.
Hopefully this is not just another example of creating the illusion of accountability. However, prior precedent indicates nothing dissimilar. Was Michael Plati the ultimate decisionmaker on all of the facets that led to such a botched protective detail? Not likely.
(VIA Fox News) – A high-ranking leader within the Secret Service has been asked to retire following the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, Fox News Digital has learned.
Michael Plati, office of protective operations assistant director, has been asked to retire and is ending his tenure with the service in the coming days.
Plati was asked to step down by senior leadership, including Acting Director Ronald Rowe.
Fox News Digital has reached out to the United States Secret Service for comment and is awaiting its response. The USSS is preparing to brief Congress in the coming days about lessons learned from the July 13th attempt on Trump’s life. (read more)
While the media, and for their self-interested purposes – the U.S. intelligence apparatchiks, are so quick to push the “mistakes were made” narrative surrounding the assassination attempt, a great number of Americans are not going to just accept this nonsensical reply.
Consider if this failed assassination attempt was on someone not named Donald Trump:

Really, what happened to firing people for incompetence or dereliction of duty? These were not trivial mistakes, these mistakes almost led to the death of the once and future president. They were not mistakes. There is no way these “failure” just happened on the exact same day a sniper was trying to kill President Trump. The U.S. Secret Service is prioritizing sending employees to an LGBTQ+ “Out & Equal” Summit. They will to learn & embrace their queer “magic” & “magnificence” as recounted in a video clip of last year’s “Out & Equal Workplace Summit Highlights.”
“You’ve gotta be kidding me,” Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri wrote. “Agents assigned to Trump in Butler were only given online zoom training — but Secret Service has the resources for a DEI summit in Orlando? This is beyond outrageous.”

IMO, the move to discredit the Secret Service is an intended consequence of this event. The Secret Service were supposed to be the “fall guy” from the beginning.
In part to take the emphasis off the shooter and cement the shooter persona as a lone wolf acting alone.
If the Secret Service had been up to speed, Thomas Matthew Crooks would never had shown up. There would be no shooting.
Had Crooks attempted the shooting with a fully prepared Secret Service, he very likely would have been captured and held as a witness. He likely would not have been dead. And that would not be an acceptable outcome.

I’ll go with the insights of Dan Bongino. It is Rowe who should start the exit egress.
Problem with Dan is he tells everyone he doesn’t have proof that this event wasn’t spontaneous. If he believe in his heart that some guy just happened to show up to a Trump rally with a gun and on that exact same day the USSS had major failures or lapses in their security details Dan needs to find a new line of work. Dan is probably trying to cover his butt and not say what the actual truth is that the federal government tried to assassinate resident Trump at a rally so that biden and harris could run unopposed in the 2024 election. The circumstances coming together to be a spontaneous event are more than the sands of the sea.
I’ve listened to him ever since J13 (a term I think he coined by the way), and my interpretation of what he’s been saying is far different.
He’s been very clear that “in his heart” he believes that coincidence or mistakes could never, statistically, account for the sheer number of things that went sideways. There’s a mountain of evidence – but nobody to substantiate it so far.
He therefore states his opinion – passionately – that it was a setup, but that he can’t prove it in a court of law, not yet. Dan was once a prosecutor, so he’s thinking that way. He wants people he knows to come forward to testify and so far they won’t.
And on that, he could be right. The courts ignored another mountain of clear statistical evidence on voting machines as well.
It’s easy to be annoyed when he doesn’t seem to be making progress.
But things could change quite a bit in 2025. With PDJT in office, the whistleblowers Dan seeks might come forward because their fear of retribution will be alleviated.
Congress should immediately subpoena Michael Plati and grill him as if he were complicit in allowing Crookes to have full access to the venue and the positioning (or non positioning) of security on the roof. Either he knows everything that went on, who made the positioning decisions, who told him what……or he doesn’t.
It’s also conceivable they just want a fall guy and they’ve shown him the pictures. Or he’s a staunch Democrat willing to take the fall ‘for the greater good’ of the Agency.
Dan Bongino must surly know in the depths of his heart that there were no failures in the USSS detail covering President Trump in butler that faithful day because there is no way on this earth that every “failure” that they are saying happened just happened when a sniper tried to take out President Trump. If Bongino still believes in his heart this was a “failure” not a plan he needs a new line of work.
He was probably set to retire anyways.
