According to Fox News the acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe has asked protective operations Asst Director Michael Plati to resign his position.
Hopefully this is not just another example of creating the illusion of accountability. However, prior precedent indicates nothing dissimilar. Was Michael Plati the ultimate decisionmaker on all of the facets that led to such a botched protective detail? Not likely.

Michael Plati, office of protective operations assistant director, has been asked to retire and is ending his tenure with the service in the coming days.
Plati was asked to step down by senior leadership, including Acting Director Ronald Rowe.

It sounds like this Plati was set to retire anyways. So Rowe probably just asked him to move up the retirement date a few months (or days) in order to provide the illusion of somebody taking accountability.

Therefore, there can be a disconnect between bureaucratic intent and operational reality. As such, termination of the Assistant Director was a correct first step with the Director to follow unless real corrective measures are confirmed.

Does the audio show suppressed rounds fired? What was the entire go/no go decision tree that had to line up the way it did for the shooter(s) to be where they were when they were? And, once individuals answering the above questions are identified, what are ALL of their social and family connections, and where do THOSE connections intersect with the other individuals and THEIR connections?

Acting SS Director Ronald Rowe was so defensive and hostile under questioning before Congress, his performance read as the performance of a guilty narcissistic man whose only defense is to prevent himself and the USSS as VICTIMS. That is a low level defense mechanism used by people who don’t know what to do with their guilty feelings. It is a real “tell” that a person feels guilt or is motivated by guilt whether they are conscious of it or not.
It is typical of narcissistic people who feel guilty that they will fix on anyone in their surroundings to blame for their failings. Once they have beat up on or fired the other person, they go on as if nothing ever happened. They are incapable of taking responsibility for their aggression or for their guilt.
It is clear that the USSS can never be trusted with the security of a President ever again.
