It is the best communication tool available, and the tech interface is brilliant. However, various government agencies hate Telegram because of the privacy it provides.

The only question on my mind is, How will you act when the power goes out and doesnt come back?
I would expect chaos. I train for it, meaning I purposely cut the power in the middle of the night and train around that. Do things by feel or with night vision and actively look for threats using neighbors or wild animals as fake targets. Your question is the main reason I invested in military gear because soldiers operate without modern conveniences and if they need power they bring it with them.
No power means no fuel unless pumpers have gensets and then it’s down to deliveries, or not. Where I live, a late double-double tanker through the mountains has often meant no fuel for a day or two and that’s under normal conditions. No fuel means no fuel powered transport. I kept two bicycles as backup for that, one road and one trail.
No power can cut off internet access so no Telegram, et al. Then it’s shortwave, packet wireless and morse code, of course if one has power for that.
I would suggest people train for emergencies or scenarios like you describe. Trained is trained. That includes first aid and battlefield medicine.

I can’t speak for Dunes, but for many it is Christ by their side and the Holy Spirit that dwells within – whether or not there is another human next to them. My suggestion would be to find a good church and become active in it. Find things you can do to help others, be it working with children or those older and less able than you. For now, even better IMO would be to volunteer to help elect PDJT and preserve our nation.

If power went out leaving no running fresh water. It would take just 3 days to see death, and the accompanying disease.
Its really important to have your own water source, even if its a shallow well with hand pump. Imagine in the darkness people stumbling around and cutting themselves. No water to clean the cut, and no preparation for first aid.
In a major disaster, it would take just 8 hours to wipe the store shelves of everything, and that includes the pharmacy. Every store in every state would be empty.

Some suggest that there is no device that is 100% truly private, and in fact those represented as “secure private” devices may be honeytraps used by USG to tap into comms of people who want secure private comms (an especially interesting demographic to the spooks).
Reality Check: HAM radio HF comms are technically problematic (an understatement) and beyond the ability of most to master sufficiently to put to practical use. The gear is expensive, reasonably effective antennas for lower frequencies are quite large, there are safety considerations including lightning/surge, and the cost goes up even more for off-grid operation using batteries etc. when AC utility power is not available. All of that can be addressed if one has time, money, technical aptitude, and physical space, but it is nowhere near a replacement for mass communications: Only about 1 in 700 adults in the US are active General Licensees, this proportion is much less in flyover country, and only a fraction of licensees are on the air at a given time, scattered across the bands.
VHF/UHF HAM requires repeaters to reach more than several miles, and that’s a whole other set of complications preventing these bands from replacing mass communications, in addition to the issue of very few operators. Plus you are dependent on the repeaters, which are not guaranteed to operate especially if TSHTF.
LORA is an interesting development, but range is only several miles, extending range requires other LORA users doing a mesh, and once again we run into things holding it back from replacing mass communications similar to the HAM vagaries.

It was written by Anton Rosenberg and published in 2017. He appeared to have been a principal contractor or employee of what became Telegram. Some messages are blurred out due to an apparent paywall at Medium, the original publisher.
I found what I believe is a picture of what Durov was flying in 2014, what I believe is a Falcon 50 tri-jet. The picture looks to be taken by Rosenberg. That’s an old livery, likely dating to a production date in the 80’s or 90’s so he may have upgraded since then. If he’s still flying Falcons I can likely find him since there are so few of them out there. They’re made by Dassault, which is French.

There is a vast difference between sacrosanct communications that are impervious to government spying and the defunding of the police or the total elimination of the government. However, the government could be SHRUNK by a good 80% of its present size and do its job as outlined by the Constitution just fine.
As far as the border goes, there IS NOBODY GUARDING THE BORDER – all they are doing is handing out free passes, travel vouchers, clothes, and phones. I would take your vigilante groups over a wide open border without hesitation – but if we had an actual functioning government that cared about the people and the country, it would send the military to the border and shoot any who tried to come across it at any point that was not a legal, manned border crossing. At those legal, manned border crossings the only ones that would be allowed are those which can show they are U.S. citizens or have TEMPORARY passes issued by the federal government in order to facilitate international commerce of goods (not people).

When Crooks info was originally publicized and it was stressed that he had ‘encrypted accounts’ from ‘multiple countries’, I had posted that this was not unusual or suspect, as we ALL tend to have encrypted accounts. Yes, Telegram is encrypted. Allegedly (but not proven) if you use WhatsApp you will also get a notification that your messages are ‘encrypted end to end’. The government made it sound like Crooks’ encrypted accounts indicated some kind of criminal activity, in order to start this effort into dismantling encrypted activity on the internet. Perhaps next they will go after VPN’s. The goal is to surveil every bit of information that you put on the internet.
And yes, I agree with the issue about Musk. My original suspicion was that Musk publicly talked about privacy, and gave accounts back to those who had been originally banned, in order to get those ‘deplorable s’ back on to the website, under the naive interpretation that they were now ‘approved’ as posters, and Musk was fighting the government with regard to surveillance. Upon arrest they are interviewed, provided a mountain of evidence and are made clear what the consequences are going to be at trial. In many cases, prosecutors (secret police spy state) will present a way to avoid serious penalties if they cooperate

A company that wants to operate will comply with them, of they will get shut down. These NSL’s are official executive power ORDERS that establish how these companies WILL operate to allow the secret police spy state to surveil, often in real time, ALL communications, or just some. with no warrant required/necessary. The companies are effectively held hostage to the demands of ‘the state’ to provide access to the very core of protocols and to read what is otherwise described as unbreakable unreadable encrypted traffic. What most people seem to have forgotten is that Snowden and also WikiLeaks exposed/leaked a great deal of evidence that this has already happened and there is no reason to assume it has stopped! The proper view from a security aspect is to distrust ANY security/privacy company that is regulated and or operates subject to US and the five eyes NSL’s. That really leaves few companies who are not. Telegram is one such company…OR SO WE ARE LED TO BELIEVE. This is one of those areas that I need to be careful about how I describe what is going on: we really have no means to KNOW FOR CERTAIN WHICH COMPANIES ARE SUBJECT TO NSL’s. See, they are secret under great penalty of law. and when I say great penalty, grave danger. Is there really any other kind of danger?

Do governments think this will actually solve any problem? Taking away freedoms only punishes the good because the bad will just find another way. The situation in the assignation attempt of President Trump was not the failure to not read the encrypted. First, the CIA should have known (and probably did) because it related to foreign terrorism.
