Seemingly lost amid all of the discussion of Senators John Barrasso and Marsha Blackburn confronting U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle at the RNC convention last night, is the obvious question, why was Cheatle even there?
Did she meet with President Trump and offer an apology for what the USSS is positioning as a gross collapse of simple security procedures; or was Director Cheatle simply trying to save her position. We don’t find out answers to the baseline question because the politics of the event are the paramount prism for the Barrasso and the Blackburn promotion of their confrontation. I loathe all of them.

There are so many people who want Trump dead for so many reasons, it would be a nightmare to investigate all of them. Not that anyone will actually try. I’d be surprised if there were a group of conspirators from many agencies. It just multiplies the exposure of everyone involved. I voted the other day, here in the great State of Tennessee, and I left the vote empty for Republican US Senate (Wittum running against Blackburn is total nut job). Marsha pays lip service every chance she gets. She has been in congress over 20 years (15 House/5 Senate) and votes basically how she’s told to vote. I was listening live earlier today but stopped when DB said if you don’t like what he was saying leave. He was relaying inside provided information such as: a tree was in the way of one counter sniper team; the shooter was really going for a mass casualty event but somehow accidentally discovered the clear shot from the roof top; locals failed to secure the building with which they were tasked. Although he’s definitely being critical of the SS he’s also getting out their narrative / talking / distraction points-they have an institution (that Dan obviously loves) to save after all.

It’s been bugging me that they claimed to have DNA-ID’d this idiot roughly the same day it all went down. Far as I’ve ever understood it, that’s nigh impossible. If I’m wrong, then the rest of this post is largely off-base and you should treat it as such b/c I base my opinion on this notion.

No, I think what maybe happened is that some numbskull in the USSS or related group(s) accidentally let the idiot’s name out in a breathless interview b/c they couldn’t wait to tell the world the one piece of info they were trusted with. They knew the name b/c of course they did, as planned/planted.
Then some other numbskull realized this mistake, and blurted out in another interview “oh, well yes… it was the DNA, doncha know… science!… trust the science!”
To even have a chance of that working, they’d have to have already had his DNA on file, but then… we’re told ‘this guy was a ghost, the proverbial grey-man for real… a black-swan of sorts! no one saw him coming.’ So, how’d they miraculously match his DNA in a few hours? I don’t think they did… that was just another in a series of every-uglier cover stories that aren’t holding water at this point b/c someone in that moment thought to blurt that excuse out since ‘everyone loves those tv-cop dramas where they use DNA all the time!’
I can’t believe they didn’t go with the very believable option of “we traced the car left in the parking lot that matched the keys we found in his pocket”… b/c that I can believe, and would expect that is at least ‘a way’ they could’ve ID’d him relatively rapidly by tracing car registration.
So, assuming he was truly a lone-wolf, why even go through all the ‘DNA-fingerprint’ mess? Misdirection? To get some people a little too-far-out over their skis and then yank the rug out later… ‘haaaa haaa!.. you believed that!’

They did know who he was ahead of time b/c this was planned?, and they knew it was likely they already had DNA fingerprinting (as I would figure all ‘assets’ are similarly traced/known). Maybe LEOs ran his license plates, got his name and address, went there and got dna sample from his father and compared it against a sample from the shooter. And maybe if the case involves assassination of a U.S. President, you get to go straight to the front of the line at the lab? Just spitballing.

At that point, DNA matching isn’t even necessary… you found the parents, show them a picture… “is that your son?” Visual ID is used all the time and it stops there, no DNA testing needed. There was plenty enough of him left to see/ID. We’ve seen the close-ups.
The thing is, they announced this result w/in a very few hours IIRC.
1) The parents lived at least an hour away from event site… 2hrs drive time already… minimum.
2) Car tracing is quick, but not instant… in the chaos, some time would’ve elapsed.
3) A team of forensics folks has to be dispatched to the parent’s house to collect samples. In the midst of the crime-scene they’re surely already processing, I can’t imagine this went quickly.. esp for a ‘not huge metro Police organization’. How many forensics folks do they have?
4) I would imagine they’d get a court order to get the parent’s sample(s) b/c they wouldn’t know ahead of time if these folks would even cooperate. More time lost.
Like I said, it just seems fishy to announce a result that quickly…when, again, not really necessary if they just trace the car.
I have read that you can get DNA results done in the span of a few hours, but that’s to do the test itself… the logistics to collect samples and so on is not figured in.

Now, WaPo reports that police directly told the Secret Service they lacked the resources to station a patrol car outside the building Thomas Matthews Crook used to target Trump. And yet again, the response was a shrug. “Whatever, probably nothing will happen.”
-They saw the shooter with a range-finder, and did nothing.
-They flagged the building as a weak point, but then didn’t put a cop outside.
-They knew the roof was a threat, but didn’t put anybody on it — because it was “sloped” (oh no!)
-The shooter simply walked up to the building carrying a latter and climbed into position.
-Multiple SAW the shooter and alerted police, yet nobody stopped him.
-As all this happened, Trump was allowed to step into harm’s way rather than delay his remarks.

The amount of outrage expressed by Senate Republicans is the inverse of their corrective actions. The louder they get, the less they’ll do about it.

In support of Senators Blackburn and Barrasso, this is an appropriate time to pressure the biden administration over the incompetency and failure to perform due diligence in matters that the agencies are fundamentally responsible for. Demanding responsibility from “Directors” should be a public effort, and making such “Directors” uncomfortable comes with accepting the title and benefits of that position. The confrontation should set a tone to demonstrate the Director’s failure to perform as required. Good for Barrasso and Blackburn.
