Presented with a certain amount of reserved, perhaps pragmatic & cautious optimism.
I have made no secret of my preferred candidate to run with President Trump as his vice-president nominee. For a myriad of well thought out reasons, I have long held the hope that Dr. Ben Carson would be the running mate for President Donald Trump. {Background Here} Considering the ramifications, my thought process is not some random, esoteric thought, clickbait discussion or academic exercise.
Having been extremely deep in the political weeds, which some powerful and influential people have described as, “you’re nuts with your endeavors,” with a great deal of risk and with a tremendous about of fact-based reconnaissance into the nature of the ideological enemy – in combination with thousands of hours of private thought and prayer – I truly believe the #1 characteristic we need, in this exceptionally important moment in history, is a man (or woman) of incredible character, loyalty, virtue, and most importantly, unwavering faith.
This is not just a critical national election; we are in a spiritual battle against a very determined force of global malevolence, dare I even say visible evil.
That said, President Trump has indicated we will soon know the answer.

My now 20 yr old nephew, who I have raised since he was 5, gave me his copy just before he left for engineering school almost 2 years ago.
It is definitely recommended reading.

I am just referring to his surgery skills. He’s obviously a highly intelligent person but so was/is Jimmy Carter. He had a very high I.Q but it did not translate to being a good President. Dr. Carson is a great person with almost zero charisma.

DJT doesn’t appear to be so “Godly”, but he is most definitely a willing vessel and DJT has been good to God’s people. Do not agree with the prevelent notion that someone who once opposed PDJT can never be considered. People grow and learn, and if mature, can reconsider previous opinions based on additional information, insight, and experience.
As for the prospect of replacing Vance, the thought of DeWine choosing a replacement causes consternation.

I’ve shared this here before, but I once had the honor of sharing a quiet meal with Dr. Carson and his charming wife Candy. They are both gracious, intelligent, and genuinely decent human beings. I was very happy for them when they were able to escape Washington, DC in 2021 with their souls intact. I dread the thought of them having to endure 4 more years of it, but I would not be at all surprised if they chose to make the sacrifice.

The question I have is, will he announce it before this event? If it was an announcement on this day he formally accepts and the VP is introduced the same night they would need somebody very well known to pull that off. If so that would also mean that the VP candidate would not make a speech because VP candidate usually makes the speech the night before the presidential candidate makes the speech.

I heard someone on RAV saying President Trump has earned the right to choose whomever. That gave me pause. My faith in God and confidence in President Trump have overcome any reservations.

I trust Trump. Period.
Sundance has made it clear that he views this election entirely based on a Trump victory, and I respect that. He’s made a strong case for Carson based on both his MAGA credentials and his proven loyalty to Trump. Carson is, without question, a highly competent man of morals and character. Far too few of those in American politics today.
But I’m also a pragmatist. The Presidency and the SCOTUS are not enough. 2017-2021 proved that.
Trump must win …AND we MUST carry the Senate with a sufficient MAGA margin to overcome the RINOs in that body.
Without a strong MAGA Senate, Trump will face major headwinds in getting his nominations and policies approved. Shades of 17-18 with McConnell dictating Trump’s nominees. McConnell is out but his acolytes will still control the committee chairs and appointments, and thus the nomination approval process.
I thus have reservations about Carson due to both his age and his role in the election (not his role in the administration).
They are reservations, not objections.
Carson is 72 and in good health. But he will be 76 in ’28 and 80 in ’32. That will be an issue then.
Carson will help down-ticket in Nov but how much in the states where the Senate will be won or lost?
Trump is not showing strong coattails in critical Senate races where he is leading >4+ in the polls but the Senate races are much tighter. AZ/OH/FL/MT/NV come to mind.
As I said, I trust Trump. But my VP preference would be for a younger MAGA candidate that can draw enough fence setters to cast a ballot for the top of the ticket as well as down-ticket.
Whomever the VP nominee is, I will put my vote and my money behind the ticket.
Ben Carson would also make a good President. He might not have the “campaign” persona to get elected on his own, but I think he would do a great job if he had to take over. He is smart, thoughtful, strong and he has decency.

I have nothing against Carson, I just don’t think he has the cojones to make the Swamp fear him. They will remove Trump, by impeachment, legal or actual assa$$ination if they see a VP they could control and push around. In my estimation they see Carson as controllable.

I, too, wish for Kari Lake – but the more I get to know Thomas Massie, the more I like him. Seems he just lost his wife and I wonder if it was because he “revealed too much”. If Kari can’t be moved from Arizona – and we will need STRONG local leadership – than I would like Thomas Massie from Kentucky. He’s anti-Establishment and sharp as a whip. I pray him peace and comfort over the loss of his wife. May her death not be in vain.
