Thune talks about assuming the role as the natural outcome of his time with McConnell. Unfortunately, almost all the GOPe Republicans will support this passing of the baton. The only thing that makes the Deep State professional Republicans nervous, is the potential for President Donald Trump to intercede in the anointing.

There is the potential for this to be an inflection point if President Trump weighs in on the role of the next Republican Senate Leader.
I would expect Mitch McConnell to try and pull a Machiavellian move with an endorsement of Trump and a promise of non-conflict. McConnell may even make pledges of support for Trump’s nominees in an effort to play the long game for Thune. Of course, as customary, that would all be a ruse, and Thune would await the opportune moment to play the role of DC Brutus.
It’s a complicated political dynamic, because Senator Thune comes to the negotiating table with all the Senate support needed for his installation. The power game is almost equally matched, with only WE THE PEOPLE as the tilting weapon to shift leverage to the side of President Trump.
In the background, the interests that support Thune will be quietly working every angle to block and/or ultimately remove President Trump. Senator Thune knows this game; it’s his home turf. So does Trump, and he has us. So, we keep watching.

@sundance either you or someone in this comment section has to get word to PDJT, just like Paul Revere did back in the day when the British were coming….that Thune is bad news and Trump should not endorse him at all. This is the test for Trump for all of us to see where Trump is at and if he has learned anything about the Deep State and how to defeat them and defend us the MAGA people against the Deep State. If Trump can’t or will not take on Thune now before Thune becomes the leader and before Trump becomes president then we are finished because it shows that Trump is scared or unwilling to take on the RINOS and Deep State that he claims to be doing. Although I disagree hotly with Sundance’s geopolitics on Ukraine, I because a great fan of his domestic American insights—staring in ’16 and going on until now. Trump is fighting so many battles at the moment, I’m not sure if it would be wise to open another front in the war against the DeepState. He needs to win first. That must be the highest priority. Yeah, I agree. Mullin first came across as a real cowboy, ready to upset Washington, DC. But he’s turned out to be another Swamp enthusiast, regrettably so.

Watching the eyes and facial expressions during that interview tells one all one needs to know about Thune, even if there was no other information to go on (of which there is plenty).
The new idiot GOPe Senator is the one that needs to keep his mouth shut. PDJT can – and should – speak up about his views on Congressional leadership races. Backing one person doesn’t mean he couldn’t work with another – and he has the right and responsibility to speak up about who he thinks will help lead his fellow members of Congress and implement his policies the best.
