The most common refrain from frustrated Ron DeSantis supporters has been, ‘why didn’t he just wait until 2028’?
With the exception of a small group of political followers in the State of Florida, few people really understood what the DeSantis 2024 operation was all about.
Ron DeSantis ’24 began long before people were paying attention. It started when the top echelon of the GOPe UniParty saw candidate Donald Trump win the November 2016 election.
In January 2017, when the DC stop Trump operation known as Trump-Russia took on a new direction, the Republican apparatus was just as much in opposition to the Trump presidency as the Democrat wing.
The Republican politician exodus from Congress in 2018 wasn’t accidental, nor was the weak effort of the GOPe to win congressional seats in that 2018 midterm election.
Given the elements of the ‘stop Trump’ effort, the House of Representatives was part of the overall ‘stop Trump’ design. House Speaker Paul Ryan didn’t announce his retirement in ’18 ahead of the midterm accidentally; he made the announcement because he knew the Republican leadership’s plan.
Ron DeSantis left Congress, along with Paul Ryan, because Ron DeSantis was going to run for the Florida Governor seat as part of his career move. The people around DeSantis who supported his political career (Ryan, Bush, approved Republican types), along with the Club4Growth (David McIntosh), helped guide DeSantis with the proactive planning. The run for governor in ’18 was always done with the expectation and plan to run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.
Here’s the key point. DeSantis was always going to run for the Republican Party nomination in 2024. There was never a consideration not to do so. He ran for governor in 2018 specifically to set up the run for the Republican nomination in 2024. That was always the plan.
If President Trump won the 2020 election, DeSantis was positioned to run in 2024. If President Trump lost the 2020 election, DeSantis was positioned to run in 2024. DeSantis was going to run in 2024; not running was not an option. Start from that baseline and everything that took place during his tenure as Florida governor then starts to make a lot more sense.
The professionally Republican DeSantis operation always contained the need to co-opt the MAGA Trump movement.
Just like the Tea Party was infiltrated and diminished back to the control of the GOPe in 2012, so too was the plan to infiltrate MAGA and take control in 2024. This is the reason why DeSantis ran in 2018 to mirror the Trump agenda. Winning Florida via overt and very public support for President Trump was part of the design.
The policy agenda of Ron DeSantis was then structured to mirror the priority of the MAGA base. This was pure strategic and political maneuvering, not a fundamental or ideological alignment in common belief with the priorities of the Trump voter.
Again, begin with the end in mind. The end goal was always DeSantis ’24.
What Florida voters saw unfold in 2021/2022 (social policy nods to create bonafides) was precisely the DeSantis goal to create a MAGA image where the Florida governor would be the torchbearer for the MAGA standard. However, quietly behind DeSantis was the originating establishment old guard.
In December of 2021, a full 17 months prior to the May 2023 official announcement, the invitation to the “conservative influencers” was dispatched. Christina Pushaw was now part of the DeSantis ’24 operation, and she organized the January 6, 2022, meeting (pictured below) for that exact purpose.
This January 2022 preparation was why the people in the photograph were so sensitive about the “invitation” when questioned.
If ordinary voters, MAGA people, realized in early 2022 that Ron DeSantis was recruiting “influencers” for the campaign that was scheduled to begin a year later, it would be a risk. The hidden agenda behind the operation would potentially be exposed. The denials about this organization were extreme, and the ridicule over such a simple question was a “telling” indicator.
By the time the calendar took us to mid 2022, the visible datapoints all went in one direction. The activity indicated DeSantis was going to run for the presidency in 2024, because, well, quite simply, Ron DeSantis was going to run for the presidency in 2024. It was going to happen, and everything taking place was being done with this in mind.
The advanced scheduling was done with the 2024 campaign as the baseline. The legislative effort was constructed with the need for policy accomplishments to support the 2023 announcement. Everything, from the moment Ron DeSantis stepped into office as the Florida governor, was predicated on his prior agreement with the professional Republican apparatus to run for the GOP nomination in 2024.
This is why the Republican Governors Association gave DeSantis $20,000,000.00 in 2022. The plan was for DeSantis to transfer the funds to his 2024 campaign, and the RGA was seeding the money in 2022 because they could not do it after he made the announcement in 2023.
It was being done by design, following the originating plan. No one would question the $20 million, even though he didn’t need it, in a reelection year. Also, the RGA could not be seen as putting a finger on the scale for the GOP nomination; so it needed to be done early by design.
The professionally Republican elements, including the DC leadership team, knew Ron DeSantis was going to run for the nomination in 2024. This is the same DC leadership team that supports the removal of MAGA, just like that same leadership team supported the elimination of the Tea Party who were very effective at removing UniParty members through the primary process in 2010 and 2012. Lessons were learned, now the playbook was being duplicated.
The DC leadership team also knew the DOJ team was going to raid Mar-a-Lago. After all, the National Archives was working in the background with the DOJ to formulate the justification for the raid. DC doesn’t keep secrets like this very well and the politically connected knew what was going to happen in advance.
This is the explanation for why the team around Ron DeSantis scheduled his time in the bunker (5 days) to coincide with the ‘shock-and-awe’ FBI raid.
The goal was to hunker down, watch the DOJ/FBI drop bombs on candidate Trump, then have Ron DeSantis emerge from the bunker in Mid-August 2022 with a national endorsement tour, soon to be followed by a soft national campaign kickoff under the guise of a “book tour.”
Hiding this advanced scheduling is why the DeSantis legislative team changed the state rules/laws for tracking the Florida Governor’s travel details. They left nothing to chance. The ruse needed to be maintained. Sunlight, even in hindsight, was/is a real threat.
When you start looking with this specific retrospective in mind, then suddenly there is clarity surrounding the hubris exhibited by everyone in the DeSantis camp, including Casey DeSantis.
Ron left Congress in 2018 to advance his career and position himself for the 2024 GOP nomination. Waiting and running in 2028 was never an option, because running in 2024 was always the original plan. It wasn’t only a grossly inflated sense of self-importance that drove the decision, although that has always been a character trait of Ron DeSantis, the 2024 race was the original plan supported by every member of the pro-DeSantis team.
Once you realize the reality of Ron and Casey’s one-way ticket, then you start to recognize how cunning and deceitful they are. It is not coincidental that cunning and deceptive are also the adjectives used to describe the DC Republican establishment.
Many people were fooled by this establishment Republican plan; but then again, many people were previously fooled by all the professional Republican mask wearers…. So don’t feel bad if you were tricked by the duplicity.
After all, it was not that long ago when Senator Jeff Sessions was the widely espoused “most conservative” member of the upper chamber….

I think you are exactly right. In some sort of fevered dream, Sessions thought he had a lot of “friends” in the Senate. Next thing he knows he is being accused of being an actual and active KKK member. He probably made some mistakes but the number of people he could rely on could be counted on the fingers of one hand. This helps explain Trump’s shots at Kim Reynolds disloyalty. As an Iowan, I’ve never seen our elected leadership so far out of step with the grassroots. Ernst, Reynolds, Feenstra. I also highly doubt they made their moves without the implicit approval of Branstad and Grassley. They were noted for their silence. Hopefully, the grassroots support left a lasting impression with DJT. Our leadership are going to be doing a lot of @ss kissing to get on the good side of the Donald. But then, will they ever be truly trusted? I for one think it’s long past time to build an Iowa party that reflects the future, not the past.

The day I heard Ken Griffin come out and talk about how he had BOUGHT Desantis lock stock and barrel and He had done so with the express purpose of Desantis taking out Trump. my heart went right into my foot and I begged the good lord that day to not allow that man any where near the President or the White House. When he begin to fail and Haley came in and the big donors started supporting her and throwing big money at her Ron Desantis totally went to the dark side and told people that she was owned by the big donors and that he was as clean as snow which after while became just another joke that Desantis is and was. We are lucky he dropped out but I think that there is something going on under the surface and look out Florida they say he is a changed man Maybe not for the best either.

Ken Griffin makes me laugh. He bought a GOP candidate for IL Governor, spent $50 million on the guy. Richard Irvin, a pro-BLM conservative. lol Irvin had competition in the GOP primary and the competition won. In a huff, Griffin packed up his business and moved to Florida, he blamed Chicago crime for the move but I think he just wanted to move to a red state so he could control elections there. He was actually donating to DeSantis before he moved to Florida. And now he has thrown his money away again. He didn’t contribute anywhere near $50 million on DeSantis though, but it was still a lot of money. What an idiot. As someone said the other day it’s kind of surprising the guy has made himself rich from his business considering what poor judgement he has.

Now makes sense why DeSantis volunteers knocked on my door last fall on behalf of Disneyland against Anaheim CA Oct 3 special election ballot measure A to increase minimum wage of local hotel workers. They spotted my Trump 2024 flag displayed in garage and began promoting DeSantis for President 2024 as well as vote against Measure A. The anomalous behavior raised my spider sense something was off for an alliance of DeSantis and Disneyland here in Anaheim. Now I know what was up with UniParty.

Presumably Ron DeSantis was instructed by the GOPe to quit the contest and to then endorse Donald Trump.

There had been a wave of surprising public endorsements from several R politicians about a week prior to Iowa.
I got the sense the writing was on the wall, and they were doing a quick 180 to get on the winning side.
I think the GOPe will be trying to control him again through suggested appointee’s and who they will confirm for his administration.
Fat chance of that happening again. I suspect President Trump has a long memory of who stood by him at his lowest points.

Haley was the preferred candidate. RDS was an acceptable alternative, but he was always intended to be the MAGA splitter. Because he is conceited, over-ambitious, and lacks social intelligence he never realized he was being set up to fail.

One of the curious things to me is why couldn’t they just ride out the Trump 8 years?
Why was it necessary to go all out to destroy him? And to do so as fast as possible?
Why keep going after him? Failure after failure? Why?
They have revealed so much of themselves. Aspects that are detrimental to their goals. The world is beginning to rise up against them and their friends.
If they had waited, the world would be blaming Trump for whatever was happening now. He would be tiring old news, the way every President is treated in their final two lameduck years.
And they could resume their agenda.
They couldn’t wait it out because they couldn’t risk what might happen in the long term if dedicated MAGA people and the policies of the MAGA agenda became firmly embedded inside the bureaucracy of the federal government.
PDJT knows too much. His kind must never rise again.
In his second term he does not need to concern himself with winning re-election. He will not allow his last two years to be lame duck.
I do not know how he will be able to accomplish all that he needs to do but he will do it. He knows that his legacy goes beyond 2028 and that he needs to destroy the one of the heads on the one world beast.
We will see.

DeSantis can’t win unless he gets MAGA votes. That’s why he had to suck it up and deliver his fake endorsement, complete with an included jab at Trump. He’s disgusting. DeSantis is worse than Haley.
How do you know when a person is inauthentic? When he or she only tells you the things you wish to hear.

Seeing the picture of all the “influencers” tells quite a story too. I remember listening to Buck Sexton afterwards on the Clay and Buck show. I listened knowing he was part of that group. Because I was tipped off and listening for it, I could hear the narrative painting right through the radio loud and clear. I don’t have any use for them anymore. Haven’t listened to them since and won’t listen to them. No need. I’d rather just listen to music on the ride home.
Both Clay and Buck, along with a number of other local radio hosts had their subtle little digs at Trump. They either voiced them, or they only took callers who would voice them.
It was quite obvious right from the start.
Some have changed their tune. Some have gotten downright nasty when called out for it.
Jesse Kelly was one of them. Made me sad because I had listened to him since before he went national, but he drank all the “Heavy D” koolaid and I can’t bring myself to tune in anymore.
I recognized the Fox gal who left NYC for Florida as one of his influencers. Don’t remember her name. I wonder how supporting RD has affected her standing at Fox.

Unfortunately, the theme of this article by Sundance is nothing new; ever since he firmly came out ‘against’ RDS he has consistently said the same thing, WITH reciepts.

But because those are federal positions he can’t take advantage of Florida’s lax campaign contribution rules for state campaigns.

I don’t know how DeSantis expected to win favor of the billionaire class by destroying Bob Iger and Disney both ikons of woke billionaires and certainly, in more ways than one, one of their own kind. Donald Trump would have taken a different approach with Iger and certainly not used an atomic bomb on Disney taking away the special district status Walt Disney negotiated with the Florida Legislature.
From what I remember DeSantis did not destroy Disney as the media depicted. That fight’s key outcome was to pack the special district’s development board with his (i.e. donor) appointments. In the end all he accomplished was to give his billionaires economic leverage over another set of billionaires.
Fortunately Disney is quite set on destroying itself.
Watching Sundance deconstruct these scheme is such an artform. Like he said, once you see the string, it’s can’t be unseen.
Yes, the RECIEPTS is part of it, Sundance is real good at that digging into and exposing backgrounds, who is financing, gathering influencers, etc.
However, there IS another aspect that WE can ALL work on, and it involves understanding HOW manipulation works, in order to try to develop the tools neccesary to resisting it.
As Con artists have instinctively known for 1000’s of years, and scientists have proven with PET brain scans, if a strong emotional responce is triggered, the parts if the brain that would USUALLY be used for critical thinking are diverted, to experiencing the emotion.
Since we don’t “hear from” critical thinking, we don’t question the idea put in our head, simultaneously with the emotional trigger.
This quite simple ‘recipe’ is the essence of manipulation, used by con artists, advertisers, politicians to manipulate people into doing or believing things they otherwise wouldn’t.
Its the “art” in Con artist, and ALL of us are susceptible to “falling” for it.
The only defence is learning to keep your emotions “in check” as its the STRENGTH of the emotional responce that is key; in order to overwhelm and silence critucal thinking, it must be a STRONG emotional responce.

I’ve been stating for several months that Meatballs opportunity to salvage his aspirations for higher office was the fall of last year. He needed to end his campaign & fully endorse PDJT in order for this to happen.

Tucker Carlson said Haley was the Democrats’ plan B to stop Trump from winning. She announced her candidacy in Feb 2023. By late summer DeSantis was losing donors and at least some of them were shifting over to Haley.

It seems to me that after all of these Machiavellian schemes hatched by the rino uniparty to destroy Maga, that we are in a zero sum game. We destroy the uniparty or it destroys us. Is there not a viable alternative? Why do we continue to stay within a group that absolutely loathes its voters? Can the rinos be destroyed if MAGA walks away? Or do we just fight this bloody civil war until the bitter end?
The wierd thing is that uniparty treats politics as a zero sum game, and that it must sort of equally split the voters it loathes.
People have shown, that they will unite behind whoever does the right things for them and keeps them happy.

Trump breaks their control of us. But Presidents are term limited. They could have just waited him out.

Committed biowarfare against the world. Organized riots to tare up the country. Committed a massive, bipartisan cheating effort to remove him. And have been destroying every precedent to destroy him with more false charges in court after he is out of office.
Yet he is once again winning.

As much as I appreciate the intricate web of 3-D chess used to explain Tea Party fail, the traitorous GOPe, and now the DeSantis stumbles, the Hanlon’s Razor is more likely the applying principle:

But maybe ego and authoritarian impulses are also at work?
There is a massive amount of money and power at stake. The people who control the establishment politics are not good people, they are money- and power-grubbing sociopaths. Malice is most definitely involved.
No doubt malice is involved, but I can’t believe such intricate planning and dependence on unknowable actors’ movements is responsible for the positioning of candidates years in advance.
It looks more like DeSantis and others had aspirations for national office; they are all narcissists to one degree or another, and money-men want the UniParty supreme. Believing one’s own bullshit is a common human failure. So they backed the candidates most favorable to their narcissism. Remember Jeb!, Romney, McCain (he will SAVE us!!1!), and loads of other losers with connections? Professional politicians are deeply indebted to their financial sources, with Trump lesser so perhaps but not immune. That debt causes the veneer of public interest and slick campaign tactics to make LIV swoon with delight.
The danger with hero worship is the blindness and deafness it creates.

I have no hope for/in a favorable decision.

I see no actions by anyone at any significant level of influence in the GOP to engender imminent hope for change.
President Trump most of all should be a lesson for all as he sheds light on the swamp. There has to be a future after President Trump and that can only happen with awake and alert citizens.
Experience tells me to expect anything and everything between now and inauguration day in 2025.

I discovered Treehouse about a year ago, these few commentors disparage people like myself and Catturd. If you watched the Tucker interview Cat laid out exactly how he came to see the truth, exactly like me and many others. I didn’t base that entirely on this site. Sundance confirmed my thoughts , albeit sadly in greater detail. So much so that despair began to set in.
Due to practicing a deep Faith in God that despair evaporated quickly. HE is still in charge, especially of my soul.

Think I may skip the comments, most of which are reasonable I’m not an ignoramus. I’m a 72 year old patriot, widow of a US Airforce Vet serving during Vietnam. 40 yrs married, mother and grandmother. Reasonably intelligent, I followed and participated in politics for over 50yrs.
What I see is a communist takeover that started long ago. Still see Kruschev pounding on the table saying “we will bury you”. Evil Obama pounded the nail in quite handily using the race card and backing by nefarious forces. I researched him therefore did not fall for his dangerous shtick.
Right now PJDT is our hope. My recollection of the JFK assassination is fresh in my mind and will be until I die. Therefore that possibility weighs heavy on me.
As my earthly lifetime dwindles down I will continue to pray fervently for the good people trying to right this ship.
All things are possible with God.

I see Benny Johnson in that first picture in 2022, he then was with Vivek Ramaswamy during the 2024 debates “making a documentary “. That leads me into suspicious cat territory with the sincerity of Ramaswamy.
