FedNow is an update to the old system. I wouldn’t call that the infrastructure for a CBDC, though.
Also, the CBDC that is being discussed is more of a private-public partnership thing, which, again, is fascist in nature, like all things WEF.
Keep in mind, however, that the US will very likely be the last to implement it, since it preserves the hegemony. But it does not mean we have time.

Right, you have to differentiate between an “interbank” CBDC and a “retail” CBDC. Swift is an old interbank technology that needs to be updated, so a digital system between banks needs to happen and will happen. Sometimes I see people get confused over that. However, a system where we the common people open up accounts directly with the US government instead of a bank is an entirely different thing. And one of the things that I have not seen them figure out yet is how they deal with the movement of all of those accounts / $$$ to the government as it will empty all of the banks. Who will leave their $$$ in a vulnerable bank?

Let’s assume it to pretty likely there could be no CBDC implemented on the “old” as-was system, and I think it is plausible and likely that any “new” FED system implementation in 2023 would include at least the fabric and support of a CBDC.
(Unless you assume the Government is that stupid they built out a new system without regards for anything in the 1-3 year future timeline)

As for preparedness I think it’s naive to assume a CBDC is not coming in the US.. It is coming (regardless if Trump wants it or not — because you know “Financial Crisis”) One just has to prepare for it. It would most likely be pushed with some kind of crisis and give you an account with the FED directly or JP Morgan (Also integrates nicely with digital identity and internet censorship based on digital identity)
I am just providing the info though, up to you to decide how to prepare.
They have been working on it a long time. The initial test phase before roll-out occurred in 2023 with a subset of banks participating in the US. They have been having technical issues with parts of the implementation in the US because we have a wide variety of systems that handle transactions all over the country. We have lots of people that use cash, we have lots of people that use no bank services, we have people using checks, we have people using cashier’s checks, there are gift cards and credit cards. A CBDC control system requires everyone to use the same tools and systems. There are differences in how RE is handled in each state in the country. It also has to handle income tax and state tax and various local taxes. These vary from state to state, among counties and from city to city. All of this adds complexity and for such a control system to work, it must operate flawlessly in each situation.
I think there’s room for both (hear me out). Digital Currencies have a place, it’s just not in daily (your pocket) use. Banks need to transfer money between themselves and between other countries (and currencies). Where they have a place is in that middle space, allowing for instant transfers (which used to take days to settle). There are tillions around the world in Nostro/Vostro accounts today that could be freed up if replaced with an instant settlement system (and with ISO20022 compliant cryptos, there is no way to fudge value on either end). As the US Fiat dollar declines (as the 1971 Oil sales agreement ends and BRICs goes their own way with a likely gold backed currency), trust between parties can be restored with digital currencies internationally. This prevents WW3.
Yes, I do not disagree with you. Digital Currencies have a place, as long as they are not centrally managed and controlled.
Bitcoin is a digital currency, but it has an open distributed ledger.
A CBCD would be government controlled and have a private ledger.
Todays Governments seem to be all about MORE centralization and MORE control, so a Government Digital Currency should be severely undesirable.
Example of this: Take the Canadian government for example, even without a digital currency, they have already shown no restraint in blocking the bank accounts of people they do not like — without due process in a court. Are those the same people you would trust with a CBDC that would just make it so much easier for them to determine if you can spend money, and what you spend it on?
Blockchain, the underlying technology to digital currencies, is not a bad technology in itself. But similar can be said a knife is not a bad technology in itself. If I use the knife to stab someone it is bad, but if I use the knife to slice my sandwich, it is a great invention.
Things to think about. I think I prefer hard assets over Government Controlled Looneybucks myself.
