As we will do with each primary contest, this is the dedicated thread to the results from the primary caucus in the state of Iowa today.
Forty delegates are up for grabs. Delegates are distributed ¹proportionately. Caucusing begins at 8:00pm ET. We can expect results from the first-reporting precinct caucuses around 8:45pm Eastern Time tonight.
There is no Democrat primary caucus in Iowa this year as the DNC changed the primary contest. A few people, me included, have long suspected the DNC primary change was not necessarily about the DNC, but rather a change to provide space for Iowa and New Hampshire Democrat activists to influence the first two republican primaries as a block Trump strategy. We await the data to see what happens.

¹Delegates are proportionally allocated to Presidential contenders based on the statewide vote. Each candidate receives (candidate’s statewide vote) × 40 ÷ (total statewide vote) delegates. Round fractions to the nearest whole number. If there are too few delegates allocated, the candidate nearest the rounding threshold receives the additional delegate. If too many delegates are allocated, the candidate furthest the threshold loses a delegate.

Great clip by Kari Lake, at the largest caucus site in Iowa, arrived an hour before the start of the caucus, and parking lot is FULL.
Was there ever a doubt?
The main issue is margin of victory.
Any result which can be contorted into “momentum” for Trikki Nikki, say Trump falling under 50 or her reaching into 20s, will be used to boost her in New Hampshire.
Also worth noting is that both parties have resorted to dirty tricks in Iowa which have changed the results. The Ted Cruz (now Meatball) operation took Iowa in 2016 by falsely reporting Carson had dropped out.
Even if PDJT only has a margin of victory of 12.8%, he still makes history.
How did DeSantis end up in second place? This means he will continue on..sigh..but hopefully Halley will go away.
I wonder if the Dems (newly registered as Rs) voted instead for DeSantis instead of Haley? Perhaps they couldn’t stomach the warmonger.

Haley has no ground operation. Her support consists of media, donors, and smoke and mirrors.

Me thinks a certain amount of those democtrats who were gonna go and vote for Nikki Haley, well, in fact it turned out, they voted for PRESIDENT DONALD MAGA, TOO!!
There are a couple of key counties that I am watching. Deep blue Iowa City in Johnson County has a lot of votes for Nikki Haley.
Do you know if there are caucus locations on campus at the universities?
That would make it easy for the must liberal votes in those particular counties to come in early.
At the same time, Lyon County was the first to log any votes. Those were about 72% Trump among the caucus voters in that county.
