This is, well, too full of smiles to adequately describe. Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz delivered a resoundingly honest speech to the Republican attendees at the Florida Freedom Summit on Saturday. It is well worth the time to watch, as prompted.
Look, I’m still on the fence with this guy, but his brutal confrontation of the GOPe is some of the funniest and best components of the BIG UGLY so far. The guy has been put through the wringer, hit from every angle, ridiculed by both the left and right, and yet he’s standing there snarking brutal one-liners in their faces while sipping their tears.
It’s so much fun to watch him go full wolverine, and yet so brutal in its abject honesty; quite frankly, it makes him very easy to like. WATCH:
I mean, seriously. Think about it. He took down the Speaker of the House…. 😂
He’s a rebel with a cause. Give em’ hell kid!

If James Dean could actually be Matt Gaetz!
He is seemingly all we got at the moment beisdes a few others. And that list doesn’t include Jim Jordan, who has become a little mouse and on so many select committees as well.
Jim, Trey Gowdy has a 10 gallon hat for you to join the “All Hat and No Cattle” Club.
I believe it’s more like the “Blackmailed By Roofies During Freshman Bootcamp Club” myself….
Matt Gaetz, is not backing down. Rinos in the house and the senate hate him, but he’s still standing and taking everything they keep throwing at him.
What’s not to like about Gaetz?
Some call him a grifter–whatever that may entail anymore. But IF he is, he seems to at least be on the non establishment side.
“I can’t even keep a food taster. Three died on me last week”.
Classic!!
Bravo Matt! One of the few who have the intestinal fortitude to practice what he preaches. Take notes you other reps…..business as usual is over!
That’s a young man with his eye on a big political prize in future years. He’s taking a hard but strong path. I look forward to seeing his career and KNOW he will be hit from all corners. God Speed.
Based AF! Gaetz has rejected pretending in all its dysfunctional forms. May we get a few hundred more just like him.
Impressive.
When they went after him and he fought back and won.
The scum created a fearsome foe in Matt Gaetz.
All those that have been trashed by the scum are getting stronger by the week.
If I as a foreigner ( Canadian) have contempt and disgust for the RNC and an unwavering support for President Trump.
The passion patriotic Americans will have must be off the charts.
Cheers to all!
He’s no hero. Be careful. He’ll find a way to screw us eventually.
Downvote.
🥱
Who let the troll in?
Now, now. Firstly, it specifically spells out in the guidelines for posting comments (link on the homepage) that calling another commenter a troll, is grounds for administrator action.
Secondly, Sundances article makes clear that having reservations for Gaetz is not unreasonable.
I, too have serious reservations.
Sure, what Matt SAYS is great, and I love hearing the words SAID.
But then, I LOVED hearing the words Graham SAID, at the end of Kavanaugh.
Really, it seems to me Matts future is inextricably ties to Johnson.
IF the new SOTH turns out to be “same old whine, in a brand new bottle” than Matt will be seen as having played a role, as just another layer of controlled opposition, as most here see Jordan, for example.
If Johnson delivers substantial and substantive CHANGE, well then Matt might be secure as being ONE of the next generation of MAGA.
Lets not be too quick to crown him, just yet however.
He gave a great speach, really nailed the RINOS, but lets see what happens…
Wait for results.
There is no other choice, but enjoy the speech until then.
There is no certainty this side of the grave.
That said, if I drank champagne, I might pop me a bottle for this.
🍾🥂
Totally understand Sundance and others being on the fence about Matt. That is because all politicians are parasites, some just more parasitic than others.
That said, I will celebrate the wins Matt has already delivered. And I expect more MAGA from him until 2024 elections.
Will he screw us afterwards? Probably 50% chance… still better than 100% with 500+ other parasites
Why do you say this? The writer of the article said something similar. I’m curious about why people are hesitant.
I’m all in favor of giving credit where credit is due, and in that respect Gaetz has certainly taken the ol’ baseball bat to the hornet’s nest in stirring things up in both the GOP infrastructure and in the Washington establishment. Good for him.
When he stands at the podium, however, I can’t help but get the feeling I’m watching a wanna-be TV evangelical preacher that’s trying to gin up the crowd before passing the collection plate.
So how do you feel about Trump?
Trump, as a person, is a pompous ass egotistical carnival barker. If he were a bird he would be a peacock with the tail feathers out on permanent display, always trying to be the center of attention. These are all excellent characteristics for someone bent on being the stereotype sleazy politician. Fortunately for us, and the nation, Trump is not now, nor has he ever been, that politician. He’s a pragmatic businessman with a love for the country that’s allowed him to reach his levels of success. I have a great deal of respect for the amount of personal and financial sacrifice he’s made in order to help us repair the damages that have been done to our nation, and his genuine desire to, as he puts it, make America great again.
If people read your post through, you would have way more likes.
I’m nearly 100% sure that, as a man, Trump is not that carnival barker. He just plays one on TV; because, it’s a good way to call attention to what he’s trying to communicate. If he were the egotistical asshole he plays, he would be a John Huntsman – not the self-sacrificing patriot one can see with just a moment’s discernment.
He’s from North Florida in the Panhandle also known as LA …lower Alabama!
Also known as Paradise; but we don’t want the word to get out!
That’s because Gaetz looks like a brunette version of young Billy Graham – with the same fire for truth.
Just saw you photo after making a similar comment! Yes, that’s who comes to mind too when seeing Matt Gaetz.
Halleluiah!
Photos of a very young Billy Graham come to mind, he too had that pompadour hairstyle that Matt Gaetz is sporting.
Some politicians collect more equally then others. ymmv
“Matt Gaetz doesn’t accept PAC money.”
Wren: The RNC And Speaker Races Are Americans’ Chance To Voice Their Disapproval With Failed Leadership
https://rumble.com/v23vnsc-the-rnc-and-speaker-races-are-americans-chance-to-voice-their-disapproval-w.html
Yes.
Actions speak louder:
✔️ Does not get in bed with Big Lobby.
✔️ Fought back and won resoundingly against the usual swamp smear.
✔️ Dumped McCarthy, in the process showing how to fight with a razor-thin majority.
✔️ Gained all the right enemies (very Trumpian).
I am sold on Gaetz. He is walking the walk, not just talking the talk.
I love him! We sure as hell haven’t seen much of the kind of hutzpah he has — we need many, many more of him!!!!
I’ve been watching him also. He’s been a thorn in dems sides. He goes after the corrupt liars. Mike Johnson has sit beside him in many hearings and they both are tough go-getters!! I do believe Matt Gates will be one that will always cause doubt with alot of people but, you have to stick with ALL his interviews and speeches to KNOW he is doing what he says he’s doing! He’s definitely a fighter for the greater good of America 👍🇺🇸
OMG! I loved him before this. Let his courage be contagious!
As Dan Bongino says “don’t love politicians, love results.” Matt Gaetz has gotten results!
This. Any politician requires watching, but so far Gaetz has put his actions where his mouth is. I have respect and appreciation for him so far. Let’s see how he goes on.
Team America. 🇺🇸
I like the term👏👏
Great speech.
Awe inspiring speech! Uniparty and lobbyist heads are exploding. I get the feeling Matt is a fellow treeper.
some of his constituents certainly are 😉
Like him or not he’s exactly what we need to fight against the Marxist agenda of the left. If you’re not on board with Gaetz then who’s your choice?
For me, Gaetz is the Trump of the House. They both speak the truth to the point of making me cringe at times. They say the stuff you can’t say, always willing to step over the psychological line that most of us know instinctively not to cross. Fearless.
God bless them.
OK, I get it. But what has the House done?!!!!! I give Johnson a few weeks, but we are in a very bad situation and in an emergency.
If Johnson does not deal with this, then we know we are in a very bad place.
“Patience is a virtue”.
A small litmus test for me will be the immediate release of the J6 tapes by Johnson.
I think he’s been and is being groomed by Pres. Trump.
The Florida connection. No doubt Trump knew Gaetz’s father as well, who created and sold a hospice company for Half a billion dollars.
Maybe this is why Matt Gaetz doesn’t need to take donor money.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Gaetz
Dan Gaetz, an American businessman and Republican politician who served as a member of the Florida State Senate from 2006 to 2016, representing parts of Northwest Florida.
He was Senate president from 2012 to 2014.
Gaetz is currently running for the 1st Senate district in the 2024 election. He is the father of Congressman Matt Gaetz.
Gaetz and his wife, Victoria (née Quertermous) reside in Seaside, Florida, in a house that was used in the film The Truman Show; a sign on their white picket fence says “the Truman house”.Gaetz has two children; his son, Matt Gaetz, currently serves as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, and his daughter, Erin, was director of digital content for Jeb Bush’s 2016 presidential campaign.
Hmmm thats a strong Bush connection. And recent. Matts sister was helping Jeb run against Trump.
yeah, but sometime people just need a job.
And so you take a job with “America Last”? No job is worth betraying our people.
Considering that was the worst campaign in the history of the world; maybe she was there to sabotage 🧐
Best comment.
That’s a strong Florida connection, considering that Jeb! used to be the governor.
I didn’t know that. Interesting. Will be doing some research
Research the honey trap set up for Gaetz. Pay attention to who the players were. And include the attempt to extort around 25 million from the father of Matt Gaetz.
Notice what the planned use of the money was.
It’s related to a nation currently in the news.
Gaetz takes donor money, he doesn’t take lobbyist/PAC money.
“I mean, seriously. Think about it. He took down the Speaker of the House.” One of the most amazing political accomplishments in my lifetime. We comment all the time about taking out the trash. Matt Gaetz actually did it. Big props, young fella. Keep up the good work.
I’m beyond giving weight to political voices. From here on in I judge by actions alone.
Fool me once, shame on ………shame on you…….Yah fool me can’t get fooled again.
All I can say is that every politician I’ve ever heard speak like that proved to be planning to run for president and usually, they ended up not living up to what they made themselves out to be. HOPEFULLY, Gaetz does not follow that pattern.
He’ll probably run for Florida governor in 2028, if not sooner.
The earliest he could run for Florida governor is 2026, then 2030. So, he may well run in 2028 and then run for president in 2028. If not 2028, he will run in 2030. He definitely has presidential aspirations, so he will run as soon as he thinks he can be elected.
..
PDJT was the notable exception to this rule of thumb.
Except that PDJT was not a politician when he first began to speak out against the Powers That Be; and, later, he made it clear that he WAS running for president.
Contrarily, Ted Cruz, for example, deliberately ran for Texas Senator as a stepping stone to the presidency not being honest about his presidential aspirations.
Likewise, DeSantis ran for Florida governor for the same reason and also without being about his future plans.
BOTH Cruz and DeSantis, when asked outright about running for president, denied that was their intent as long as they could.
Matt Gaetz is also planning to run for president. Whether or not he’s worthy of holding that office is yet to be revealed.; but, a close look at who his major donors are would go a long way in answering that question….
Agree!
Do you have a link to his donors? Honest question – I don’t know how to find that out.
The Federal Election Commission is where to go.
It is a good place where you can mind lots of people’s business. LOL
https://www.fec.gov/data/receipts/?committee_id=C00612432&two_year_transaction_period=2024&data_type=processed
Thanks for the link.
Ted Cruz was Texas solicitor general. He was going to run for Texas AG in 2008. However, Rick Perry threw political expectations into disarray by not leaving office after two terms as was the norm.
Greg Abbott was Texas AG at that time and planned to run for governor. Cruz was not going to run against his boss so he joined a law firm instead.
When Kay Bailey Hutchinson announced that she would not seek re-election to the great debating society known as the US Senate, Cruz sought and won that seat.
IMO, Gaetz and Cruz are intellectually more capable that most of the people around them in DC. They both have a great deal of energy too.
I only know what I know: Ted Cruz has had aspirations to be president from an early age; DESPITE the fact that he can never legally hold that office because the Constitution requires a president to be a natural born citizen, something he can never be due to his being born in Canada and his father not being a US citizen when he (Ted) was born.
The fact that he knowingly attempted to violate the Constitution makes Cruz unfit to hold ANY office of public trust regardless of how qualified he MAY be otherwise.
Even though the verdict may still be out on Matt Gaetz, Cruz can never legitimately be compared favorably to him.
You’re right. On top of that, Ted Cruz speaks out of both sides of his mouth. Not a man to be trusted. I admire the stand Gaetz took against McCarthy. That was, surely, more than just words.
As was Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan, who took AUH2O’s mantel and implemented his policies for two terms as Potus in the ’80s.
I sure hope Matt Gaetz has a good security team around him.
That “7 ways to Sunday” thing has long tentacles and the UniParty is as dangerous as a cornered badger.
“Six ways to Sunday” — to get technical, but I agree with you.
Needs our prayers for protection, for sure.
Will the FBI raid his home in the wee hours of the morning with CNN filming? What persecution prosecution can be brought?
Exactly.
Matt Gaetz’s father used to serve in the Florida legislature and now intends to go back. Good for him.
The two of them held an outdoor rally/event a couple of weeks ago. Matt introduced his dad. He said his dad attended PTA meetings and saw that nothing was being accomplished. He started attending school board meetings then he ran for school board and won. After that, he was hired as the superintendent of a school district and led that district to a much higher academic rating. From there, the elder Gaetz moved to the Florida state house.
More Gaetz sounds like a good idea.
Thank you for the information.
Graetz Stuff! 😉
Interesting, he claims not to take money from lobbyists.
Very satisfying speech.
Gaetz removed from power the last of the so called “young guns”……Cantor, Ryan, and McCarthy. They wielded power for way too many years.
Gaetz did some of the early heavy lifting to dislodge Liz Cheney from the House.
Bless that boy.
That alone deserves a lot of props.
We’re so use to having our loyalty & hope broken by poseur politicians that we instinctively are guarded & skeptical… but Gaetz speaks truth & is entertaining & sometimes effective… I love for him to be legit. In any case, he’s done some good & I’m appreciative of his efforts.
As Lincoln said about Grant, “He fights”.
I think it is time to go full on Gaetz…I get folks are reticent, but he is the real McCoy…He has earned our trust. Let us give it to him…!
I hope you’re right. However, many said the same about Ted Cruz and Ron DeSantis. As far as I’m concerned, the verdict is still undecided on Gaetz…
In the meantime,…………..Full Speed Ahead.
I have always thought that Gaetz was a brave warrior. I am very thankful for him to step up and say what needs to be said, to take care of the people’s business and to try his best to get this country on the right track. And as a added bonus, to do it with humorous flare. Between Matt Gaetz and John Kennedy there can be some fun inserted into the political dialog.
He’s inspirational to younger voters, so here’s to his courage being contagious and having an amazing effect on those coming up. We need fighters. Lots of them!
I think you could add Tim Burchett and a few others who are honestly good-natured and humorous to boot.
Matt is the best! Future President in my book….
VP 2024?
I don’t agree with anyone 100% of the time. Not realistic to expect to. I like this kid,,, a lot,,, he tells it like it is.
The man is a hero. Period. Full stop. He is also an example of what we can all be if we ask a little more of ourselves.
Amen.
Trump’s VP!!!
Someone should give that young man the sunglasses.
Ask Brandon to give up his.
Smokin’ Hot. Wow, that was impressive. Absolutely nailed it, not one stumble, stutter, nothing but straight fire.
And yeah, he will be running for higher office. What makes me laugh is somewhere out there, maybe even from here, there was a video of Matt trying to coach the Meatball. It was hilarious. Too bad the Rhonda didn’t learn a thing from Gaetz.
OMGosh!!!!!!!!!!! I am sending Matt some of my hard-earned cash first thing tomorrow morning! What a winner!!!!!
God bless Matt Gaetz!
Maybe Mr Gaetz really gets-it.. and as long as his path is forward toward the enemy… then he’s worthy of being called “brother” .. if he falters&stumbles we’ll lift him up… if he is finding fixing & destroying the enemy.. pass him more ammunition.. IF he retreats.. abandon him-forget him forever recall him as a traitor.. Until then-pass the ammo..
Semper fi
I loved what Gaetz had to say. I believe his actions have been spot on.
Still, his remarks about not losing sleep over the imprisoned J6 folks (or words to that effect) is something I still can’t reconcile. I don’t remember what I was listening to -or reading- when he made those comments. It shocked the hell out of me. I mentioned it here at the time.
I pray that he does remain steadfast and continues to walk the walk. MAGA
It shocked me too.
Yes, I love Gaetz’ courage and strategic acumen and willingness to act against all odds. Historic win removing McCarthy. But like Lorrie, that J6 comment gave me a glimpse of a different Gaetz that makes me join Sundance on the fence.
For those that missed it, here is Gaetz’ J6 comment:
—————————————————
May 26, 2023 from TGP (link below)
“Conservatives were taken back on Thursday night after Rep. Matt Gaetz told a Twitter Space gathering that he was not “particularly aggrieved” after Oath Keepers founder and President Stewart Rhodes was sentenced to 18 year in prison for his seditious conspiracy and terrorism on January 6, 2021.
“Rhodes did not enter the US Capitol, committed no violence, left his weapons in his hotel room, told fellow Oath Keepers to keep their weapons in their hotel rooms, and has no record of planning a violent attack on the Capitol, or anywhere, at any time during his career.
Stewart Rhodes did nothing wrong!”
Direct Quote from Gaetz:
Rep. Matt Gaetz: “He stood before a jury. They had every Constitutional privilege afforded defendants. They were found guilty of seditious conspiracy and if they were trying seriously to overthrow the government, 1.) they’re idiots. 2.) They had no chance, and 3.) they probably deserve some punishment. I thought that the sentences would be less than they were, so I was a bit surprised by the duration but I wasn’t particularly aggrieved by them.”
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/05/wth-rep-matt-gaetz-tells-conservative-twitter-space/
Sunrei, thank you for finding the quote. I did post it at the time. I do applaud his most recent comments and actions. However, I am not submitting his name for sainthood at this point. I tend not to be an “all or nothing” type of person. We’ve been burned too many times.
that comment caused me to stop sending monthly contributions to him, letting him and his staff know why in a letter. initially i felt nothing but outrage. i concluded after much thought that it was so inconsistent with what he had shown to that point, that he might have some knowledge about those particular defendants – not in the public domain – that brought out the animus in those comments. but in the letter to him, i pointed out that even in the event that he might have a real grievance against them his statement in public without any caveats was very damaging to the cause of our country and the j6 victims in particular. a big political error that showed he needs time to mature into what i consider to be his position as the leading public voice and strategist for the future. when he moved ahead with the motion to vacate i sent him some money again. he is the least flawed of all
Like I commented above, I liked his speech. I like some of his actions — a lot. However, those J6 remarks really gave me pause. There are people here who extolled RFK Jr as the new messiah and then backed away. Applaud the positive — but hold off on anointing him for sainthood just yet.
The gulf between Matt Gaetz and “Junior” could be measured in parsecs.
Just sayin’.
Additionally, I would have to question WHERE his quote was published…..”twitterspace”??? Who’s to say he actually said those words?
I think he is great. The fact that he almost daily comes into TwitterX spaces to talk with voters in person and take questions shows he is there to represent their voices.
Dear God,
If I could only have one wish, it would be that we could clone the backbone of Matt Gaetz and implant it into every Republican Congress-critter whether they liked it or not (and term limits too if it’s not too much to ask)
I can see a ‘pee pee’ tape soon in his future. Be ready.
I believe they already went after him with claims of “sex trafficking” and other nasty lies.
Yes they did and he fought and won.
I would not use the word “ abject” here
Rep Gaetz looks like an Italian mobster and sounds like Thomas Paine. He has earned my trust.
Matt Gaetz is running for governor of FL. That is all this is.
If along the way he can inadvertently help MAGA, then yeah… he and his handlers will see it as a bonus.
I would love to be wrong but history has shown us we can’t trust a single incumbent congresscritter.
Nicely done.
Anyone else smell something burning? Hot cooking! Step aside globalists, lobbyists, fake republicans, there’s a stronger brand and its MAGA.
That was quite good.
‘Look, I’m still on the fence with this guy….’
There is just something about him, something probably frivolous on my part. 🧐
Rich kid persona?
Jack Nicholson eyebrows?
Whatever.
Good for him. 😁
apologies in advance for what may be the dumbest comment ever posted here….😂
is the ‘something about him’ that matt is the spittin’ image of donny osmond?
(p.s.: good call on the eyebrows, guyski!😁)
Hey Zoom, I have always thought Gaetz looks like a young Donny Osmond! Glad to see I’m not the only one:)
More of *THAT please!
*That = M.G. Chaos
Give em’ hell kid! …………………. I concur and after what they tried to do to him I don’t blame him at all. ” just getting started ” ??? Sounds good to me. Is there anyone in the senate who can dethrone the turtle ?
No, ……….So I’m afraid we’ll just have to wait for the Almighty to make his move.
I think to be a successful insurgent in the swamp, you must revel in their contempt and enjoy a role equivalent to a fart in church. you can’t be there to make friends. you must be there to foul it up and slow it down.
