Given that after 1967, Jordon lost a substantial part of its territory, i.e. the West Bank to the PLO/PLA and Israel, it is understandable to say the least that the King is a bit apprehensive to say the least.
In 1970, the PLO/PLA joined Syria in attacking Jordon in attempt to annex territory if not overthrow the monarchy. The Jordanian Army, whom even Israel greatly respects, ate their lunch and had desert while feasting on PLO and Syrian Forces.
Also, it would not be a stretch to say that the Assad Family is not too thrilled to have more “refugees” on their soil. Note that before the 1983 Invasion of Lebanon by Israel, the PLO and Hezbollah attempted to damage and eject the Syrian Forces in the Bekkah Region of Lebanon. The Syrian Army inflicted horrendous losses on them.

Team Obama-Biden is not going to give up easily. It would not be a surprise whatsoever for Biden to offer to host a large number of Palestinian refugees here on condition that Egypt takes in a large number.
Another idea: The Bataan Amphibious Ready Group is steaming through the Red Sea toward the Suez Canal with 2,000 U.S. Marines aboard. Do not be surprised if Biden offers to use this force to evacuate Palestinian refugees by sea. We did something similar in 1982, when we evacuated the PLO from Beirut and dropped them off in Tunisia. (As a side note: CENTCOM commander General Kurilla visited Israel today.)
If Jordan and Egypt continue to refuse, thinly veiled hints about cutting back U.S. aid could be made, and then we will see which way the game goes. Maybe there is a third country out there somewhere who will take them in, but I doubt it.
The second a U.S. official publicly suggests America take them in, I’m on the phone to my local congressman and two federal senators with a two word message: Hell No!
If Jordan and Egypt take in Palestine refugees they will be flipped like Lebanon was 30 years ago.
Lebanon was majority Christian after the French left and with Palestinian immigration and incredible violence the Christians fled to France. Now you have Hezbollah running Lebanon.

To get to the point, Hezbollah with its very large missile and rocket capability can strike every where in Israel. This capability has long been Iran’s deterrent against the possibility of Israeli long-range strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities.
If Hezbollah unleashes this capability in response to Israeli military action against Gaza, then Iran will have committed its deterrent to punishing Israel. Having done so, what is to stop Israel and the United States from deciding that there is no better time than now to solve the Iranian nuclear problem once and for all?
I can hear Netanyahu now: “Mr. President, what have we got to lose? Hezbollah is already doing its worst, so let’s hit Iran’s nuclear sites. After all, you do have three carrier strike groups in the region, multiple squadrons of attack aircraft too, and let’s not forget the B-52s and B-2 bombers.”
Iran is too dangerous a target. So is Hezbollah. Both have serious military capability.
In the last 50 years, the US has targeted less capable countries, carpet bombed them, killing civilians and soldiers alike, and worked to get regime change. Syria is more likely to fit the usual US targets than Iran or Hezbollah.

If Hezbollah unleashes against Israel, war is going to spread like wildfire across the Middle East engulfing Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Iran.
That’s how close to edge of catastrophe we are. Iran controls Hezbollah. It does not control Hamas. There is a difference.
