DOHA/GAZA (Reuters) -Qatari mediators have held urgent calls to try to negotiate freedom for Israeli women and children seized by the militant group and held in Gaza in exchange for the release of 36 Palestinian women and children from Israel’s prisons, a source briefed on the talks told Reuters.
Qatar’s foreign ministry confirmed to Reuters its involvement in mediation talks with Hamas and Israeli officials, including over a possible prisoner swap.
The ongoing negotiations, which Qatar has been conducting in coordination with the United States since Saturday night, are “moving positively” said the source, who has been briefed on them.
“We are in constant contact with all sides at the moment. Our priorities are to end the bloodshed, release the prisoners and make sure the conflict is contained with no regional spillover,” foreign ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari told Reuters, without elaborating.
When asked to respond to the Reuters report, an Israeli official told Reuters only: “There are no negotiations under way.” But there are no signs of breakthroughs as both sides dig in.
Qatar has been in touch with Hamas officials in Doha and Gaza, the source said, after the Islamist group assaulted Israel from Gaza on Saturday, storming into towns, killing more than 700 Israelis, and escaping with dozens of hostages. (read more)

Kash Patel: I just want to touch upon the fact that we have Blinken going out there saying the $6 billion hasn’t been spent.
The $6 billion was unfrozen from Korean accounts and went to Middle East bank accounts. And that money has since been transferred to Iranian proxy forces and militia groups. And the government of Iran and the President of Iran himself said the day after the $6 billion transfer, not only are we removing UN inspectors from the nuclear program, we will spend this money however we want.
Our Secretary of State, as K.T. pointed out, is lawyering up and covering up, and now they’re going to start blaming each other because the DoD cares more about the setting sun than they do about our men and women. And they can’t even tell us how many civilians Americans are over there. This is the same regime that left 1000 American citizens in Afghanistan, not to mention our 13 dead.
I wonder sometimes why don’t we actually identify the leaders of these terrorist operations and say if the organization you support attacks innocent people we are coming after you.
I remember the Iraq war when we went after Saddam Hussein. We implemented Shock an Awe which was massive bombing and thousands of innocent Iraqis were killed. We wanted to get Saddam Hussein and maybe a thousand or so of his direct reports and supporters and wind up killing thousands. Why not just say we are going to put a cruise missile wherever you are or put a few million dollars bounty on all their heads rather than killing masses.
Maybe some of these people that are safely away from the battle, but raise money and cause these horrible things to happen feel not so secure.

Suggestion for Qatar: Quietly eliminate all Hamas leaders, operatives, relatives and acquaintances in your country and deliver unambiguous proof of same to Israel. This would reduce the chance of “regional spillover” from squadrons of F16s visiting Qatar after they finish with Gaza.
