DeSantis initial strategy was to convince Trump MAGA voters that he would provide Trump’s America First agenda without the baggage Trump brings. That didn’t work. Then he changed strategy to basically concede getting MAGA voters and instead appeal to the GOP establishment country clubbers by bashing Trump, insulting his supporters. His miscalculation is that this group has anywhere near enough votes to win. In fact they are only about 25% of the GOP primary voters. And he has to compete for a share of that establishment vote with Haley and Pence. DeSantis has been a disaster.
