At first blush, the following question might seem like a sideways throwaway snark at the professionally political. However, at the heart of it, there’s a truth in the question I am genuinely curious about.
Have you ever noticed that Donald Trump supporters have a better sense of humor than the supporters of all other political candidates?
I mean, it’s just a truthful observation. Trump supporters are just plain funnier, have a fun disposition and are humorous people.
Like many of you, I’ve followed politics for a long time, and this is just one of those random observations that I have noticed.
The people who support President Donald Trump just have a much greater sense of humor. Why is that?

It has been proven, scientifically, that psychopaths suffer from a chemical deficiency in the brain. It is an inherited trait. They sense zero fear. If you were to measure a psychopath’s brainwaves and compare them to a normal person’s you would see their neural brain patterns firing differently in response to identical stimuli. By way of comparison, I believe that a plausible and provable theory of why leftists are so different from conservatives can also be accounted for by the analysis of comparative brain pattern activity. How often after talking to one of these nitwits have you said or thought that they were just wired differently?

I think knowledge and acceptance of that which is tangibly real in turn obviates a need for those things and character traits that make one humorless: an inflated view of yourself coupled with a lack of confidence and personal will. As my husband says arrogance coupled with stupidity is a dangerous thing for self and others. Arrogance in the brilliant is tolerable. Stupidity in the humble is ingratiating somehow. But arrogance coupled with stupidity causes all kinds of unpleasantness including unkindness and intolerance which defeats the type of self-deprecation and awareness that garners lightheartedness and humor. Just my thoughts.

To me this one is easy.. Christians make up a lot of Trump supporters. One of the fruits of the spirit is JOY! You can see JOY in him and his followers.

This reminds me of the second Psalm. When people rebel against God, which is also rebelling against reality, first he laughs at them, then he ridicules them, and then he picks up the iron rod. There are people who laugh with God, and those who laugh at him. The Psalm ends with the admonition to choose wisely.
I’m not so sure about that. I know plenty of Trump supporters that don’t go to church or care about that. Trump has a very broad appeal to different people. I think Trump supporters hate political correctness and enjoy “telling it like it is”. Perhaps the joy and sense of humor or happiness comes from the fact that for once, a politician talks like them and isn’t afraid to say the things out loud that we believe in. He’s very positive sounding when talking about reversing Americas decline. That gets people in a good mood. Don’t assume all Trump voters go to church on Sunday or live Christ like lives. You can be as unreligious as it gets and and still have common sense and smart enough to know Trump is the best option.
Firstly, I think you may be a little confused about ‘going to church’ and being Christian.
I know and have known several that don’t attend church regularly or at all, and profess Christ as the Savior and Son of God.

My statement was simply the joy in a Christian is a gift..one of the gifts of the Spirit. Actually #2 on the list! Galations 5:22-23 But the fruit of the spirit is Love, JOY, Peace, Longsuffering, gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, Temperance; Against such there is no law.
We all experience JOY.. but a Christian can have it more abundantly.. it is just so. We all struggle with these gifts daily. But we are grounded in something beyond ourselves. I’ll leave it there…

I think having a sense of humor is related to having a certain level of confidence, or a low(er) fear of failure.
Tell a bad joke, and you are “exposed”. Having confidence in yourself, you laugh at yourself and move on.
Take a risk in business and fail, brush yourself off and try again.
I have also noticed the professional stand up comics seem to have lost their rudder, as I seldom have the attention span to stay long enough to listen, because it my view what they espouse isn’t funny but often bitter or just vulgar without any real thought or preparation. (& repetitive)
Poor Robin Williams was a good example. When I fist saw him on ‘Mork & Mindy’, I thought he was clever and funny. But as time went on, his his humor became darker and less innocent. The mental illness took over, I suppose.
Disagree, we have some genius comics out there like Dave Chapelle. Bill Burr is very funny and Roseann Barr is still with us.

A friend I’ve been steadily redpilling has taken to watching the satire of J.P. Sears. This weekend we watched the one on Liberal Logic. It was a perfect example of what you describe.

Somebody once told me when I was going through a “serious” situation, “life is too serious to be taken seriously, throw your head back and laugh.” I thought that makes no sense until I really got what he was saying. You can either compound your problems by being angry, hateful and vengeful or keep hold of laughter, joy and fun.
Now when I see President Trump having fun at DQ passing out blizzards or playing golf or cracking jokes at rallies, I get what my friend told me.
Definitely true. You can clearly see it at Trump rallies. I think Trump’s confidence in himself and his ability to deal with the world is uplifting. People get a feeling we can solve our problems and we can Make America Great Again. His supporters also tend to be optimistic and grateful people who are happy to be alive.
At the other end of the spectrum, we have people who are angry and miserable to start with. They see the world as oppressive and unfair. They buy the doom and gloom the Democrats are selling. The Democrats validate their feeling that they’ve been screwed in life by forces beyond their control.
Trump supporters, on the other hand, have a funny bone. They’ve learned that a sense of humor is helpful in getting through life. Trump tickles their funny bone. He’s hilarious.
Your post made me think of those in the DOJ (not sure why). They spend all their time trying to destroy people. This Smith guy looks like Darth Vader. All the women in the DOJ are obese and have scowls on their faces…yuck what a life. I have a friend who just lost her husband and two months later she lost her mother. With all that grief she still looks for joy. When we have lunch we cry together and laugh together. Building people up is so much more fun.

To see the humor in a situation takes deep insight.. you have to look beyond the surface to catch the funny. Many people are too shallow, they have tunnel vision. That, and we realize that that one good way to defeat evil is to laugh at it. I believe that with my whole heart.
Cliche, but true, the left can’t meme, and humor is a big part of that.
In my aged wisdom, experience, and people watching, those of us who follow (no matter how loosely) God, love their kids, family, country, flag and have a “purpose” are happier. People, even when adversity hits, who love God possess a spirit of Hope (a great blessing). We move towards solutions v whining and despair.
It is a great observation. The humor is an outward expression of several things (in my opinion). 1) there is hope 2) Trump is a people person. He truly likes us. He sees us as people, friends, co Americans, he, too, possesses a humor and finds hope, seeks solutions. 3) Look at our faces, even when in deep grief and sorrow–we have a serenity and peace that comes from our hearts, Holy Spirit oozes us with a smile, a joyful noise. It is unique in people who love God…even when we are angry.
I think our humor and love of life, love of God brings with it the bonus of humor under all conditions. Believers know when to laugh, and when not to laugh or express humor.
We are a people who in the face of evil have as part of the “armor” God’s gift of humor…and it scares the evil btards.

Retired Magistrate here: Because that is what I am. There used to be an attorney who posted here who called himself “retired attorney here” or something like that. I really enjoyed his posts. They were very informative. He quit posting several years ago. Since there are legal issues that are discussed on this site, I thought it might be helpful to put my two cents worth in as a retired magistrate/attorney who has been in the arena and just present my thoughts on issues.

A lot of us are Gen X. We were the last generation raised without being coddled. My dads favorite shows were Sanford and Son, The Jefferson’s and All in the family. My friends of different races were raised pretty much the same as me. We made fun of our differences and it built a relationship of laughter and not taking everything so seriously, including ourselves.
Not taking things so seriously made the world a more fun place in those days.

Satire is one of the funniest forms of humor and maybe that is why Trump supporters are the most funny – the Left, Democrats, and Woke Nation are low hanging fruit as targets of satire – it’s just fun to make fun of them.

If you are consumed with pretending things or pretending not to know things, then there is little room for humor.

Can you imagine waking up every morning and looking in the mirror and seeing Granny Warren, the fake Indian? Knowing the entire world sees you as Fauxcahontas, Chief Spreading Bull, Lie-Awatha, Lying Sack-of-Gawea? I’d surely be taking a few hits from the peace pipe to try to erase that memory. And I would not have much of a sense of humor knowing my entire existence is a lie.
The best summary of President Trump and his supporters’ sense of humor:
“His enemies take Trump literally, but not seriously. His supporters take him seriously, but not literally.”
A perfect example: Mocking Hillary Clinton flouting information security rules, compromising Top Secret information by sending it out over her unsecured personal email server. Trump jokingly asks if the Russians have her 30,000 missing emails. Everyone at the rally understood what he was saying: The Russians probably DO have them, and the only person to blame is Hillary herself. The press had an apoplectic fit, clutching their pearls and swooning because Trump asked the Russians to spy on Hillary.
I agree on the literal vs serious take.
I love the expression, “President Trump is so good at keeping his promises that he’s kept more promises than he even made.”

Both Reagan and Trump had the most positive attitudes of any Presidents in my lifetime. They both had a sense of humor in spite of the evil working against them. Their days in office brought more happiness than sadness.
Trump continues to have a positive attitude and to give us hope amongst the flames and arrows. He brings joy in spite of the evil fighting against him.
Positive people attract positive people. Negativity breeds negativity.
