At first blush, the following question might seem like a sideways throwaway snark at the professionally political. However, at the heart of it, there’s a truth in the question I am genuinely curious about.
Have you ever noticed that Donald Trump supporters have a better sense of humor than the supporters of all other political candidates?
I mean, it’s just a truthful observation. Trump supporters are just plain funnier, have a fun disposition and are humorous people.
Like many of you, I’ve followed politics for a long time, and this is just one of those random observations that I have noticed.
The people who support President Donald Trump just have a much greater sense of humor. Why is that?

They would rather be equal in misery and poverty than unequal in happiness and prosperity. The Green-Eyed Monster is their destructive God, and they all hate (i.e. envy) Trump and his supporters …
Much of our humor trades on paradox, exposing the incongruous and unexpected occurrences that permeate our daily life. Whatever its various guises, humor often leads us to a more authentic encounter with truth.
G. K. Chesterton wrote that when a person laughs, it is “as if he had caught sight of some secret in the very shape of the universe hidden from the universe itself.”
The St Basil school of comic appreciation now largely obsolete – reference to what is called vulgar wit. He reasoned that laughter was antithetical to self-control and unfitting to anyone desiring to live a life worthy of the gospel of Christ.
The same Scriptures that exhort us not to make light of what is impure and ungodly also declare that “a merry heart does good, like medicine” Humor must be fundamental to Christian living only because the Bible is so funny when one becomes an enthusiast of biblical humor.
The paradoxical realities of our redemption enable us to live and laugh with the paradoxes of a world turned upside down by the saving work of God. Humor is humility when we gratefully acknowledge the paradox that though we are children of God, what we will be has not yet been made known. The other paradox is that though we are degenerate, we remain imperfect until Christ returns to ‘translate’ us from mortality to immortality.
This is perhaps the readiness to laugh at ourselves and aware to keeping check on our pretensions, vanities and false self-importance that always brings us back to the grace and wisdom of God. If we are not humble enough to embrace the humorous aspects of our finitude, then we risk becoming ungracious and unteachable, and at worst undermining the unshakeable security and significance we have in Christ.
Humor is honesty when we are aware and move towards a right and honest perception of the world – the paradoxical reality of always living in (now, not yet), living the absurdities, contradictions and limitations akin to waiting for the final renovation.
Being hospitable is when humor finds a bonding with fellowmen in which pride, fear, rivalry and bitterness are eclipsed by mutual grace and service.
“Owe no-one anything,”Paul the apostle wrote, “except to love each other” (Romans 13:8)
Used well in community, humor strengthens the body of Christ, contributing to a sense of belonging and safety; encouraging a shared openness to the paradoxical realities of life in the last days.
Yet there is always the risk of humor being used to destructive ends.
Jovial self-deprecation may give way to careless trivialization of personal sin. Wry observation of the world’s oddities can become jaded cynicism; if left unchecked. Humor that sets out to “include” others can all too easily alienate or even demean them, if it is delivered without discernment and sensitivity.
A merry heart keeps us attuned. Attuned to life’s paradoxes; which in turn, points us to the greatest paradox of all time and eternity, our reconciliation to God through his Son. Our humor becomes captive to the law of Christ (when) it flows out of an understanding of ourselves, the world, and other people.
An understanding that looks back with gratitude to our Savior’s first coming. And forward in expectation to his second.
With the Spirit’s help, humor has the powerful potential to keep us humble, honest and hospitable as we walk the path of the redeemed life towards our eternal home.
Laugh whenever someone asks if God has a sense of humor. What do we think? Right from the get-go – God created man in His image.
God must show an ability to perceive, enjoy, or express what is comical. The difficulty is that people perceive what is comical differently, and what sinful man perceives as funny would not amuse a holy and perfect God. Much of what the world calls humor is not funny but is crass and crude and should have no part in a Christian’s life (Colossians 3:8). Other humor is expressed at the expense of others (tearing down rather than building up), again something contrary to God’s Word (Colossians 4:6; Ephesians 4:29).
An example of God’s humor is the instance in which the Israelites were using the Ark of the Covenant like a good-luck charm in taking it to battle, and the Philistines ended up capturing it and placing it in their temple before their idol of Dagon. They came into the temple the next day and found Dagon flat on his face before the ark. They set him back up. The next morning, there he was again, but this time he had his hands and head cut off as a symbol of his powerlessness before the God of the ark (1 Samuel 5:1-5). God’s putting Dagon in a position of submission to His ark is a comical picture.
This incident is an example of God laughing at the foolishness of those who would oppose Him. “See what they spew from their mouths— they spew out swords from their lips, and they say, ‘Who can hear us?’ But you, O LORD, laugh at them; you scoff at all those nations” (Psalm 59:7-8).
Psalm 2 also reveals God laughing at those who would rebel against His kingship (verse 4). It is like the comical picture of a kindergarten-aged child being upset at his parents and running away from home…all the way to his neighbor’s house. But there is obviously a serious side to this as well, and although the picture of weak and silly man trying to match wits with an almighty and all-knowing God is comical, God takes no delight in their waywardness and its consequences but rather desires to see them turn around (Ezekiel 33:11; Matthew 23:37-38).
A person does not crack jokes in the presence of one who has just lost a close loved one; silly jokes are out of place on such occasions. In the same way, God is focused on the lost and is looking for those who will care for their souls as He does. Nor do we attend Mass without an inner personal reverence, or make no effort for self-control.
That is why our lives (while having times of refreshing and humor) are to be characterized by “soberness” (seriousness about making our lives count for Christ) (1 Thessalonians 5:6,8; Titus 2:2,6).

A large part of that has to be the fact that the left plays a hard game of Victim Olympics, somebody always done them wrong. If you’re a victim of something in current culture then you’re owed.

If I had to define myself, I was a feminist in my early 20s. I tended to be miserable, and I blamed my husband for everything, even though I knew he wasn’t. One day it occurred to me that my husband didn’t complain about me. That was the day my life slowly turned around. I decided I was tired of being miserable — I hated being miserable — and realized I didn’t have to be, that it had been a choice. That was when I found my sense of humor. People are usually miserable by choice, and you can’t be miserable and see the humor in things at the same time. My Eureka! moment was a gift from God.

I think that a very large segment, if not an outright majority, of conservatives are committed Christians. In being followers of Christ we do not derive out inner joy from the world but from that joy that comes from knowing your final destiny is with God. Our joy does not rely on our worldly circumstances but in faith in things not yet seen.
Whereas, progressives in general try to gain inner joy from external things in the world like sex, wealth, control. All those things are fleeting. They devalue the life of others in their pursuit of all that temporal happiness so that lying, cheating, coldness. And we know who the leader of this current world is don’t we, the great deceiver himself, Satan.

We’re happy because we see a way forward, and it’s simple.

NO other factors are relevant – like race, ethnicity, diversity etc.
The MAGA crowd couldn’t care less about these distractions.
These irrelevant factors are dear to the pretenders of the left.
It truly sucks to be irrelevant, useless fools.
Because we’re comfortable in our own skin we know what we believe in and we have the strength to find humor in much that is around us
We are secure in life and it makes a leftist baffled and irate. We HAD some leftist friends from inside the beltway, we decided they were not worth our time. I always felt edgy after being with them.
I did the same with a pair of nightmares from NYC years ago.
They abused the waitstaff in our favorite local restaurant.

Epic read… I’ve read 3 times, the first 650 pages are a slog. My most favorite author and book.
Because the left peddles hate and fear. Both destroy people, especially the people peddling it.
At the heart of the leftist victimhood is metastasized pride. Pride says my needs and desires are the center of the universe and come first so therefore I not only ignore others needs but I view them as competition to mine. Pride justifies all means necessary to eliminate the competition resulting in the level of selfishness that drives evil.
The apostle Paul describes it perfectly: They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips,
slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents;
they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
