Apparently, someone on the BLM/Woke activism side of the narrative engineering grievance industry decided to call country music singer Jason Aldean a racist for his song “Try That in A Small Town”. [The song and video are at the end of the article.]
As the story is told, the song and subsequent music video upset the professional grievance industry who took exception to the contrast of small-town values juxtaposed against urban riots, violence and looting.
While it might sound odd, and as a consequence of the spotlight provided by Mr Aldean, intolerance to chaos, small-town values, peace, respect, kindness and neighbor helping neighbor is now declared by the grievance experts as an exhibition of profound racism. It all seems rather bizarre, because redefining social values is typically Marxist.
Making things even more odd, Country Music Television agreed with the grievance team and immediately pulled the Aldean video from the network. However, perhaps as an outcome of the interest created by this oddball controversy, viewers and listeners have driven the song and video to the top of the charts.
(Fox Business) – […] According to Luminate, which tracks streams and music sales, the audio and video streams from Aldean’s latest song went from 987,000 to 11.7 million, a 999% increase in the week following the release of the music video.
Luminate also confirmed to FOX Business that sales for “Try That In A Small Town” have spiked as well. The week before Aldean released the music video, it sold 1,000 tracks. Last week, the country music song sold 228,000 tracks, per Luminate.
Another major accomplishment for Aldean came in on Monday. “Try That In A Small Town” came in second on Billboard’s Hot 100 list. This marks the country music singer’s first number two spot on the chart. (read more)

The dude should just own what he said. What he said and showed was right. Instead, we get a wishy washy statement that cedes the moral high ground to the left.
They’re not mad because he is offensive. They’re mad because he’s right and because they are terrified of what happens if Team Red decides to take the field.
And WTH happened to country music? The guitar riff at the end is straight out of Home Sweet Home. As Tom Petty once observed, “Country music has become bad rock with fiddles.”

His statement was an entirely appropriate response to the bashing he’s gotten from the Left re. it being a racist song.
And he states clearly that there is nothing racist in the song >>> which is exactly right.
I felt the exact same way as Hokkoda when I read that statement. The song was literally called “Try that in a Small Town” – the implied threat is they would get their åssės stomped or worse because small towns apparently dont put up with such bs.
THAT is what everyone liked about the song and what made the left freak out. So they turned the narrative around – as they usually do – and accused it of promoting redneck (ie racist) violence.
His statement that it was about “community” was a walk-back to try to make it less susceptible to accusations of racism.
Hence – Hokkoda’s remark about ceding the moral high ground. He denied the charge rather than counter attacked with his original posture – which was “try ghat in a small town and you’ll regret it”.
But the song IS about community and the community values that abound in small towns, especially small towns in the South. Down here the community will not tolerate the BLM/Antifa types and if they show up and start marching down Main Street causing havoc they will learn the hard way that they are not welcome, starting with the police and sheriff’s departments.

BLM tried to bring it to several towns in Texas (bussing in people) and were met by armed citizens saying “we don’t want you here!”. They left.

It was in Texas where one of these two lovely federally funded groups were met by locals in mass. The lovely group quickly vacated the area when they were met head on by some home grown alphas who apparently were not going to “take no excrement” from a bunch of violent losers.
This was several years ago– very amusing.
The BLM stuff was contrived in a lot of ways. They bussed people in and had help from police and backers including the current Vice President who were willing to bail out criminals. Unfortunately the BLM riots destroyed a lot of minority neighborhoods. The less advantaged neighborhoods lost essential services because of the lunacy. This will not happen in a small town and its not racist, its just the ideology that allowed all that to happen in cities in the first place will not be there in a small town. Soros DA’s do no exist in a small town. The bad elements of the riots were emboldened by not being prosecuted in big cities. And on it goes. This is why election integrity is the most important issue. If we can’t vote out the criminals or the criminal enablers then what have we got left?

Aldean’s statement is a lawyerly one, attempting to stand entirely on the firm legal ground that race was not mentioned while ignoring the social and racial crisis that is at the center of his song, i.e., “social justice demonstrations” that seek to harm others WILL BE MET with equal justice in a small town, and well it should, not to mention important First Amendment rights!
Of course, the Left will always bristle at the truth while wishing to turn everything into defamation and to abridge freedom of speech.

You gonna love his show. Saw him last year and the beauty of it (not just video duet with Carrie Underwood of If I didn’t Love You) was that I could have taken my granddaughters. Not one word of profanity. Sure, Burnin’ it Down is suggestive, but it was great to see such a show. Yes, he let it loose and called the recent bruhaha ‘bullsh*t’. Sometimes an expletive is quite appropriate.
Showing the results of left wing policies makes the video controversial for left wingers. Left wing community organizers foment violent behavior that destroys cars, homes, businesses, government offices … . Left wing politicians refuse to prosecute thugs who loot stores, burn cars & buildings, beat people … Instead, left wingers vilify the police and prosecutors who jail thugs. Left wing media portrays riots as mostly peaceful and a useful way to effect social change. An end result is more misery for residents of Kenosha, St. Louis, Baltimore, Detroit, Philly …
So, Aldean gets a good result on his song, while CMTV gets tossed onto the scrapheap of history. Not so sure it’s a fair exchange, (and I don’t even watch it), but I’m seeing a pattern emerge here.

Well the wokeness killed NFL and NBA for me and I stopped watching the anthem sitters in 2019 (plus no fans in stadiums during Covid-19 took away the excitement of cheering fans, which is a big part of the experience).

There is nothing racist in that song. Racism is in the Heart of the Critics! If I recall correctly, the majority of the Antifa people are/were not minorities. They caused an equal amount of damage to communities, if not more. No excusing BLM by any means though! I do like that fact that this episode has revealed the diversity of country music fans, including African Americans from small towns…like me!

I have heard on radio several lists of current to 5 and top ten current hits with Aldean not mentioned. His success must be some sort of “illegitimate.”
The crime rate as far as person to person violence is pretty much non existent in my small town. Every, and I mean every, home is armed. People just know that. It isn’t a big deal. It just wouldn’t happen. My sister sent me this video because she really liked the song , not because of any controversy over it.
