For financial context, remember Rupert Murdoch paid Megyn Kelly $15 million (Via Harper Collins) for the 2015/2016 operation against Donald Trump. Carlson will not be asked to sign an NDA, is not bound by a “non-compete” clause following the contract nullification by Fox Corp, and will be free to do anything he wants in any venture. Additionally, he will be free to say whatever he wants about the issues at Fox and speak freely, or not, without any legal or contractual constraints. Keep all of that in mind.

My mom could spin out 10 pages on a Selectric typewriter in about as many minutes and I barely clocked 35 wpm. Set her up with audio podcasts off a cell phone or something. It’s tough when they get to be that age, I know. Mom passed at 95 in 2019.
Condolences. My Dad was 92 when leukemia finally took him down. He was not well educated in college, but I never met a more naturally smart person. Yes, would that Fox, with the $ to fund it, HAD fought the case, including discovery, as TRUTH is an affirmative defence against Defamation.
And yes, CONGRESS has written legislation which, among other things, RESTRICTS media ownership, expressly in order to INSURE a variety of viewpoints.
Unfortunately, they delegated to the FCC, the task of detirmining the percentage of newspapers, radio and television stations that could be owned by ONE Company, in a media market.
As the big six bought up more and more media outlets, the FCC just raised the percentage.
And there is still legislation “on the books” (and ignored) regarding “decency”, “equal time” “truth in advertising” all of which have also been ignored for many years.
But, as always the answer to misinformation, is MORE speech, UNRESTRICTED speech, not less.

For that sort of payment and a departure with no strings attached, Murdoch must have been very worried.
Obviously Carlson was exposing uncomfortable realities. And Murdoch and his political handlers and fellow media moguls decided that that this was a critical matter.
It also seems the timing was important. Probably for multiple reasons. And that more of their moves are on the way.
Thus, marginalize Tucker by taking away his big audience and relegating him to a non mainstream presence. Or maybe tempt him into a form of retirement with this payoff.
I wouldn’t be surprised for Tucker to lay low and away from things for some time. He already was spooked by personal threats and intrusions. So I hope he upgrades his security.

Exec Producer Jennifer Rauchet told him he couldn’t run the segment so he quit.
