Speaking of the importance of innovation to maintain economic competitiveness, on his right-hand Macron cheers for capitalism as an outcome of competition from the only venue it exists, the nation state. Yet on his left hand, Macron proclaims the importance of ‘globalism’ and economic socialism, which is the anthesis of creating innovation.
Economic nationalism is the only way competition between nation states succeeds. Innovation is born from competition, and without the nation state there is no baseline to maintain capitalism. Globalism creates socialism, equity as the baseline for distribution of innovative outcomes. Capitalism and socialism cannot coexist if innovation and competition is the goal. Governments’ responsibility is to create medium which, anyone who chooses can excel. Not determine who wins or loses. Instead it interferes creating regulations in order to fine corporations unable to comply.
Like FJB and his henchmen at the EPA passing regulations with the intent to make gas powered cars unaffordable starting in 2027 and foist citizens into mass transit even though we have the technology and petroleum to where gas powered cars can last for the next hundreds years. The EV is a top down government driven program. If not for government subsidies like carbon credits, the industry wouldn’t survive. Also the power grid hasn’t been upgraded nor is there enough lithium mined by slave labor in Congo for the batteries.
Its not just that. I have to gas eaters, each 25 years old, and in recent padt I had 2 that were both 1965’s, and still running fine, and yes parts weren’t hard to find.
I can’t imagine any of the gas eaters being produced today, still running 25 years from now, let alone 60+.

Europe’s economic future was secured with the completion of the Nordstream Pipelines providing incredibly cheap and plentiful natural gas for German manufacturing.
