Breaking moments ago, the New York Times is reporting that President Trump has been indicted by a Manhattan grand jury, the sealed indictment will be released in the next few days and the surrender of President Trump to law enforcement in New York City is being worked out.

Trump on Thursday for his role in paying hush money to a porn star, according to four people with knowledge of the matter, a historic development that will shake up the 2024 presidential race and forever mark him as the nation’s first former president to face criminal charges.
The felony indictment, filed under seal by the Manhattan district attorney’s office, will likely be announced in the coming days. By then, prosecutors working for the district attorney, Alvin L. Bragg, will have asked Mr. Trump to surrender and to face arraignment on charges that remain unknown for now.

The company’s internal records falsely identified the reimbursements as legal expenses, which helped conceal the purpose of the payments.
♦ Although the specific charges remain unknown, Mr. Bragg’s prosecutors have zeroed in on that hush money payment and the false records created by Mr. Trump’s company. A conviction is not a sure thing: An attempt to combine a charge relating to the false records with an election violation relating to the payment to Ms. Daniels would be based on a legal theory that has yet to be evaluated by judges, raising the possibility that a court could throw out or limit the charges.
♦ The vote to indict, the product of a nearly five-year investigation, kicks off a new and volatile phase in Mr. Trump’s post-presidential life as he makes a third run for the White House. It’s amazing, but, you must remember, this all about dragging him through the mud and smearing him on the Propaganda Parrot Media 24/7/365. I would wager there are a large number of said media talking heads salivating at the thought of running his perp walk over and over again on all their “news” shows and political opinion shows.
I would love nothing more than to hear one of the conditions of President Trump showing up for his booking is that there will no cameras or video taken. The screams coming from the media will be loud and long if that happens.
OTOH, I do believe Pres. Trump WANTS the perp walk. He wants the Shanklin. How else does he show their true face? How else does he show what true bravery is to the American people & show them how to fight?

It’s good he came out with this, but he hasn’t taken much political risk in doing so. I liked McCarthy’s other statement today:
“He [Biden] is making the decision that he wants to put the economy in jeopardy,” McCarthy said at a press conference on Thursday. “I don’t know what more I can do and how easy — I would bring lunch to the White House. I would make it soft food if that’s what he wants. It doesn’t matter. Whatever it takes to meet.”
I believe that everything McCarthy has done since becoming Speaker has been carefully game planned and thought out.
He can pretend to be a solid conservative Republican – helping to pass affordable energy bills, for example – because he KNOWS the Senate will shoot it down. I’m assuming he and his handlers are using people like MTG(or DC corrupted her much faster than I thought it would).
This is all part of Republicans trying to “take back” their party… theater with purpose to make us forget/forgive the GOP’s sorry ass track record from 2016-2020.
I don’t believe McCarthy has changed nor any of the rest of the usual suspects, including the lot in the Senate.
