Our dear friend Sharon always reminds us, “Those whose motives are based on deception, will always find an audience willing to be deceived.” That, my friends, is the current status of the Republican party watchers and one of the primary reasons this little corner of the internet, The Last Refuge, was formed.
We accept things as they are, not as we would wish them to be and never as we would pretend them to be. Pretending is an endless quest akin to convincing. Those who operate in the world of political pretense expend an exhaustive amount of energy in constant vigilance against those who speak plain truths.
The House of Representatives has adjourned until 10pm tonight, when another vote will be taken, as outlined by the design of the Kevin McCarthy supporters.
Why adjourn? Why return at 10:00pm on a Friday evening? Simply, because the McCarthy team is counting on several House members (mostly Democrats) not being in attendance for the quorum, facilitating a lower threshold of the vote to achieve a majority.
435/434 members present = 218 votes needed
433/432 members present = 217 votes needed
431/430 members present = 216 votes needed
429/428 members present = 215 votes needed
etc.
(Washington DC) – […] McCarthy got an additional jolt of energy on the 13th ballot when Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.), another previous opponent, also flipped to support him. He still fell short of the necessary majority of those voting present, however, with six GOP members remaining in the no camp.
Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.), a moderate and key McCarthy ally, said the chamber hoped to adjourn after the thirteenth ballot to allow allies of the California Republican to sit down one-on-one with his remaining dissenters. As to whether their opposition comes down to McCarthy himself, he said: “We’re gonna find that out.”
And lawmakers then followed suit, voting to adjourn the chamber until 10 p.m. That will tee up a potentially decisive ballot late Friday night.
McCarthy, speaking to the press, said he would have the votes needed for election when it came back into session. (more)
Video at 01:27:

I think we are quickly approaching the point where we no longer need spokesmen, but we need marksmen.
Eyes are on Chip Roy.
He already caved. He joined the Uniparty.
It is interesting to see how corrupt players negotiae. For some people it is difficult to tell who is the fu%#ker and who is the fu%#kee.
But, in the end I know who will get screwed.
DID THEY GET THE AGREEMENT IN WRITING?
Regular order?
No Earmarks?
Border Security?
There is no agreement. It’s just empty promises.
SOSO
DID THEY GET THE AGREEMENT IN WRITING?
A: You mean the Democrats who agreed not to show up?
No. They trust Kevin as one of their own. He’s never stood in their way before.
McCarthy is a known PROVEN liar. How do you make an agreement with a proven liar? How do you know he’s not just lying more now?
Riiight. Just like Wimpcarthy’s “Promise” that FIRST THING the 87,000 new IRS agents will be scrapped and
87,000 new border patrol agents will be hired.
When, you ask? When my hunchback aunt straightens up.
The greatest New Year’s gift the democrats could get would be McCarthy as speaker. They will roll ihm like a
bowling ball.
The “agreement” has to be voted on, they just said on Bannon’s War Room. In order to vote on the changes, the Speaker must first be elected.
Well that’s just absolutely perfect. No better than “we have to vote for the bill to see what’s in it”.
Nope – same old BS. Lets face it – its not a Dem/Republican problem … it truly is the uni-party problem where they act like they are conservative and want to be America First representatives ….. and its just BS. I wonder how the base will react to another poke in the eye.
It doesn’t matter. Nothing “conservative/America First” will get through the Senate or Biden. In fact, the Dems will get more than the Republicans with McCarthy in charge. It’s a done deal.
That is correct. I pointed out after the midterms that they had effectively nullified a potential Trump presidency.
Like a signed document means a thing to Kevin.
“We accept things as they are, not as we would wish them to be and never as we would pretend them to be. Pretending is an endless quest akin to convincing.”
Unfortunately, this applies to the rose-colored hopium expressed by some of the commenters here at The Treehouse. The trust-the-plan tick-tockers who are still waiting for Lin Wood to ride in on a white steed and save the 2020 election, who still think there’s something in that Durham report that’s gonna change everything, who think Trump and Sessions (or Trump and Pence) are playing 20D chess … and those who were laboring under the fan-fiction belief that MAYBE this stalemate would end with Donald Trump becoming Speaker of the House.
Reality isn’t always cheery, and there are positivity police who will absolutely excoriate those who are anything less than 100% filled to the brim with optimism, and who believe Donald Trump can never do wrong or commit a human misjudgement.
Wow, you are sure one heck of a “party-pooper.”
Many of the fantasies described by commenters are unlikely, yes, and even improbable.
But Trump was not supposed to be elected President in 2016. The odds against him were, well you know.
So we have been screwed over and over again so many times you have cause to be pessimistic. But your pessimism does not help us win this battle .
According to the tale, the camel back breaks with one last a straw. You and I and everyone else that enjoys this site have no idea how heavy burdened the camel is right now – but it COULD be just short of the 1 straw you wish to toss to the wind.
Here’s an idea: Get back into the optimism corner !
The courageous Freedom Caucus holdouts are fighting a behemoth, and that behemoth is showing strain. Your tossing spitballs at them helps no one.
Just sayin…..
Maybe he’s not being pessimistic, just realistic. And determined. It takes grit to grasp the depth of do-do we’re in, and to countenance the only ways to possibly dig ourselves out.
Rick,
I can appreciate where you are coming from. But, Right Mover has correctly identified a problem within this group, and the GOP at large. Pessimism and realism are not the same thing. There are plenty who would interpret my posts as being demoralized and pessimistic. But, I say that is not true at all. We need to be real about where we are if we are to have any chance of getting out of this. Reality is the only place where a good solution can be planned.
Rose colored glasses do not make the world rose-colored. It only appears that way to the viewer.
I agree. I am tired of The Great Pretending.
Thanks Native. I have long felt that there were many folks that felt the way I do on here. I think we have all been battered by the “true believers”. I am tired of that crap, and I am not going to let them run me off of the best research site on the internet. They can pound sand– and vote a little harder next time!
Nothing is worse than a perky little cheerleader unless you are a dirty old man or a 12 year old boy. Ignore their rah-rah.
100% Right Mover. I have had a few “treepers” get keyboard aggressive with me, because I questioned some of Trumps choices/ stances, and his backing of McCarthy. Many here believe that Trump is absolutely infallible, and can do and did no wrong. Some folks here are acting like triggered little snow flakes every time someone has a slight difference of opinion. One jackass even called me a leftist troll, because I was mocking the 4-d chess/ Q mentality. Another told me I was being “stiff-necked” for not supporting McCarthy. Boy, talk about some slow learners.
I originally came to this site because it was a beacon of sanity in the early 2015 days when everyone thought I was crazy for thinking Trump could win. While I appreciate Sundance’s level headedness and the quality of his research, some of his “followers” are showing signs of a cultish mentality that I have likened to the mind of a 2015 Hillary Clinton voter. And no, I am not a Desantis fanboy either.
I know there are folks on here who share a similar view, and know that we are not going to get out of this mess by going along to get along. But, they are being shushed by the Trump cultists, who can’t even stand to hear an honest and factual criticism of the man. Frankly, I don’t think his heart or his head is in this game. He is too proud to say it. He has been a winner all his life, and I imagine that is a foreign thought to him.
The GOP is broken. It is not reparable. And unfortunately, many of our so-called conservatives lack the mental ability to see things as they are. We aren’t going to be able to count on these folks if there is a revolution– they will still be complaining that the enemy isn’t following the rules. They are still quite content to pretend that Trump can and will solve any of this. They are also content to pretend the foul entity that controls this government would allow him to win again.
No, I don’t have a better answer, and anyone pretending that we are going to go all 1776 is purely delusional. How do I know? 2020. COVID. Kari Lake. The J6 prisoners. They could execute Trump on live TV and there wouldn’t be jack shit done about it. Our side is gonna keep taking this shit, because we have been defined as a group as the ones “following the rules”. By most accounts, it was probably ANTIFA or the FBI that did anything out of the ordinary on J6. Our guys were the ones walking peacefully within the ropes. And God bless them for that.
We are in a bad mess as a nation, and I have no idea how this ends. Anyone claiming to is full of shit.
Watch the responses to this post. They will more than prove my point.
Agreed.
Well, I upvoted you, JWHY. I have a feeling I know where the pushback is going to come from, but you out-eloquented my own thoughts on this whole thing.
I agree with you. The jokers who constantly bellow that “we have the guns” and call for a civil war are particularly absurd.
Thanks Snooty. I agree, the saber rattling gets old, real quick. Especially when it is the leftists who are out throwing bricks and burning cities. Not saying we should do that, but this whole “just push me one more time!” crap with the conservatives has worn real thin. They have pushed, been pushing, and our side has not responded.
Considering today is January 6, let’s reflect on how much protesting Ashli Babbitt has done since she was gunned down. None? That’s the reality of war and death. Every enemy killed will never act in any manner, aggressively or not, again. Ever. Since we’re talking about reality here. The regime took her out. They know how to kill. They like it. They’ve killed millions over the centuries. Reality. Thank goodness we can still discuss them killing us around here. Carry on.
I can’t tell the tone of your comment Dunes, but you are 100% factually correct. The regime would slaughter us in the street like pigs without a second thought. Folks need to grasp that reality, or there is no moving forward.
I don’t trust Trump any more. He didn’t do half of what he promised, and he could have pardoned the Jan. 6 people.
I’m with you Pat. I feel like this is a healthy airing of grievances, lol.
I can’t wrap my head around how damn near everyone of his personnel picks, including Kushner and Ivanka, were undermining him at every turn, and he seemed to be completely oblivious to it. We can’t blame all of this shit on Pence.
Trump seems to have no ability to know when his ego is being fluffed by a liar, and that is not good for us at all.
Yes, he didn’t seem to pay the J6ers any mind until relatively recently. My wife wanted to go to the capitol that day, and I told her hell no. It was an obvious setup, and he walked right into it.
“It was an obvious setup, and he walked right into it.”
He ENCOURAGED people to come, said it was going to be a great, historic day. What was he thinking? Unless he KNEW that the masses of MAGA supporters were going to have a reason to leave Washington D.C. happy at the end of that day, why the hell did he invite everyone there? What did he THINK was going to happen? Can anybody honestly answer that?
Yeah, I have no idea what he thought he was going to accomplish.
I have discussed this with my wife, and I think it is because Trump has been a corporate boardroom tough guy his whole life. He was used to staring down people who were trying to screw him out of money or property, but likely not actually trying to destroy/kill him and his family.
I think folks got caught up in the rhetoric, and thought he was a military general or something. Putin knows what it is like to twist the knife in a man’s ribs. Trump does not. I don’t say this to knock him, only to point out that he was up against something much darker than even he realized.
That’s ridiculous. The only thing he was aware of was that with that many people and the possibility of Antifa getting violent, there might be trouble. He could not know all of the pieces that FBLie and other intelligence agencies put together ahead of time. One big give away to the advance planning was the fact that Antifa was not there harrassing the masses. Therefore, Antifa was given advance notice and also their marching orders from the intelligence/just-us agencies.
What they did sure quieted the MAGA movement down and made sure MAGA stays in our assigned places, too afraid of what their next plan might be and no plan of our own.
That was exaclty Right Mover’s point: “there might be trouble”. Trump should never have called those folks out there. He led them into a trap, and from my view it was obvious. I’ll grant that it was unwitting, but it still amounts allowing the deep state to make an example out of a handful of people, to scare the living shit out of everyone else who would try something similar. Id say for the most part it worked.
I’m in agreement, sad as it is.
I mostly agree, but I think I can shed a little light on why some are so eager to defend anything President Trump does or says: It is a reactive response to the incessant, unreasonable, hateful, non-stop, vile attacks of the left, the globalists, and the all-in media on Donald J. Trump.
The very excessiveness of the attacks, innuendo, lies, insults and smears has worn some of us to where we are inclined to defend the man who tried to salvage our Republic, and at great cost to himself, his safety, his family, his company, his volunteers/supporters/employees, his name, his reputation, his bank account, his lawyers/accountants/financiers, even his golfing buddies.
Because he has been forced to pay so dearly already for trying to almost single-handedly stop our slide into the oblivion of full on Communism, some of us don’t abide any more assault on him/his, even when the criticism is justified.
Thank you for your measured and reasonable response Cheering. I agree with you. Trump was also my paladin. But, the moment a man, especially a government leader, becomes above criticism, we aren’t any better than North Korea or China. I miss the days when I hung on Trumps every word and action– man, it was a glorious feeling to think that every day, we were moving closer to sanity. He made great sacrifices for us all, and I am eternally grateful to him for that. But, that does not mean he is the solution to any of this going forward.
God Bless. Thanks for being an example of a reasonable approach to disagreement and argument.
For a long time, I believed that Donald Trump had the best political instincts of anybody in the world, and that he KNEW how all this was going to turn out. But I was wrong.
I can’t disagree. It is sad to watch folks come up with ridiculous explanations for everything he does. I think somehow, he had a pulse on the moment better in 2016 than he does now. Even if he is reelected by some miracle, he is still out-gunned by the deep state. I firmly believe they would kill him before letting him retake the office.
There was a contingent of folks here who really thought he was gonna be speaker.
Good analysis, and what the DS and their henchmen in the media have done to him and his associates should be punishable, severely.
I like PDJT, and would vote for him again. He was definitely great for our country. But I don’t believe he will be allowed to run. Frankly, that enrages me.
Even with all his challenges I still believe he’s the best candidate for us, the people. I don’t look at him as our savior, I look at him as one of G-d’s warriors. And we need as many warriors as G-d sends us.
He’s probably the best candidate for us but that’s more of an indictment of our lack of other viable options. The guy is almost 80 years old. How is it that there is no one else to take up the mantle?
Yes, I think about that a lot. Why are there so few statesmen? The lure of easy money, greed, power? What are these people’s souls made of?
But after the persecution we’ve seen PDJT put through, I realize it will take a very courageous, honorable and strong person to withstand the evil. Not sure we have any of those in the current political arena.
A lot of people commit idolatry with their views and feelings of DJT. As a Christian absolutely no man is Jesus Christ. To blindly trust or follow any person on earth is foolish.
Always use discernment. Good post. Screw McCarthy.
Winner Chicken Dinner!
Well, it looks like the responses didn’t prove your point as they are overwhelmingly supportive. And I can’t say I disagree with anything you said either. So it looks like we pretty much all agree that the situation is extremely dire and no one is coming to save us and its unlikely that we’ll organize in any meaningful way to save ourselves.
That said, I refuse to just quit and give up. Realism is fine but don’t let it become pessimism and then defeatism. I don’t have the answers either but there are ways to stick it to the man. I plan on disobeying as much as I can. I didn’t wear a mask. I didn’t get their injection. I moved out of a blue state and into a red state far away from any city. I have no intention of doing anything the Leftists want me to do, in particular I will never believe their lies. And I will continue to point out to people all of their hypocrisy and lies.
There is nothing wrong with hope unless its all one is relying on. I will be here disobeying and hoping that a way opens to change the direction of this country while at the same time I’m prepping and reinforcing my Alamo. I know not everyone here is religious and I’m no holy roller myself, but I do find comfort in believing in God and knowing that there is something more than this fallen world. It gives me the strength to carry on in the face of overwhelming odds. There is nothing they can do to me to change who I am or what I believe. I think our mere existence makes them miserable and I’d like to make them feel a whole lot worse so I plan on continuing to oppose them any way I can including voting for people they don’t like.
My advice would be to be realistic but keep on fighting any way you can.
One thing I find fascinating about this site is that it is the sober cutting edge of skepticism towards the most necrotic element of our occupied nation but also downright cult-like at times. I do not intend insult here, I just can’t describe it any other way. The belief that our country can be saved somehow in general, and by avatars like TC strikes me as beyond antediluvian.
It’s hardcore denial and it is at times somewhat enforced by positivity police. Some of course are likely feds but they harness enough grassroots sympathy to convince the laity.
welcome to the human race. the only difference here is that you are free to express your views without getting censored, throttled.
its the debate itself that is treasured. One that I truly admire and respect about CTH and his excellent team of moderators.
That is a very accurate insight Laila. It is bizarre that our side of the isle would be doing the group-think thing, but it is happening. Just look at the range of responses to the McCarthy holdouts, even on this site.
Trump’s continued support for McCarthy is where I break with him. And that, somehow, makes me a troll in the eyes of some.
Trump did so much that he shouldn’t have done and not enough that he should have done. Yes, I know he had a cabal against him, but still. Backing McCarthy was the last straw for me.
Yeah, between that and the damn vaccine he loves so much, I can’t really get excited about him running again. I have also been called a troll. #trollsolidarity
And before the true believers sharpen their knives and train them upon us, they should keep in mind that Trump’s support of McCarthy has been a bridge too far for Sundance, as well, and that Sundance, very subtlely, has been distancing himself from Donald Trump, as well.
I agree, though it seems Sundance is reluctant to come right out and say it.
Of course Sundance is probably being measured in coming right out and saying it, especially after the sh!tstorm that his revelation of what Ron DeSantis’ real intentions are caused.
Good point. Sundance seems to have a good grasp on human psychology, and you can’t break folks into reality too fast. Ill admit, I wasn’t onboard with his criticism of Desantis in the beginning, but I see now that he was correct. Bush lite, as I have been calling him.
Sadly, I think we are gonna end up with Desantis. Worst case, 4 more years of puddin’pop.
There is a faction here who will inevitably respond to the worst of news with a bromide like, “THIS MEANS WE’RE OVER THE TARGET!”
When usually, it means we ARE the target with crosshairs trained upon our backs.
Brunson v Adams election integrity case heard by SCOTUS today. No one is reporting on it. Look it up. There’s still some hope!
I can’t vouch for the validity of the analysis, but Tracy Beanz has analyzed the Brunson case, and said it is basically dead on arrival. She seems to think that case was a grift by design. Don’t shoot the messenger.
I find it difficult to find a spot to stand on that isn’t shifting.
I came late to the Trump party. I still strongly support him, however, I only expect him to be who he is – an imperfect man. And a man from another generation. But the only one I’ve even seen do anything close to what he said he would do. And with traitors at his six the entire time.
The hold out this week was uncomfortably encouraging while knowing I’m front row at a Custer’s Last Stand re-enactment. I never swallowed the Qoolaid and I am done waiting for investigations to go anywhere. I honestly don’t know what to do except continue to do what I can in my own sphere of influence. The most useful thing I do these days is help teach those who want to learn how to raise meat rabbits and supply them with breeders.
Because the future only looks bright when my eyes are on Jesus. And I’ve never been a Waiting for the Second Coming kind of girl. I want to live until I die. And I still haven’t quite become reconciled to the idea that America the Beautiful is on its death bed. I’d fight for real but where and how? It seems to me that our best defense and offense is living in truth and joy as best we can in the face of the seeming victory of evil. Because I do know one thing – evil doesn’t win in the end.
“It seems to me that our best defense and offense is living in truth and joy as best we can in the face of the seeming victory of evil.”
Well put, couldn’t agree more.
…aaand ‘the wheels on the Uni-Party Bus go round and round, round and round, round and round’, etc.
https://www.weforum.org/people/kevin-mccarthy.
It is bad enough that McCarthy, McConnel and McDaniel represent the republican party and it is made even worse that they are backed by 200 plus house members and 4o plus senators who continually go along with the democrat agenda.
Seems like even when we win and election we lose.
We might as well be trading action hero cards.
I guess it the McR party 😂😂
Stop pretending. Accept the Republican Party for what it is.
IMO, the republican party needs to die. Previously, I just wanted a 3rd party to help curtail the other 2 parties. Now, I think the republican party just needs to lose everything. PDJT needs to start a new party, even if it is weak at first. No one who treasures freedom and sanity has a party anymore.
Stop wringing your hands. Politics is, what politics is. A replacement for warfare in the quest and distribution of resources. All is fair in love and war, right? One of the biggest pieces of s*** that has been sold to the conservative right is that somehow moral victories count. They do not. Victories count. “we would never stoop to their level.” Works every time. This Escapade reminds me of the Canadian truckers protest in this way. There never seemed to be a game plan of how to win. There never seemed to be any actual power to leverage. Yes, if the GOPe played softball and didn’t have any ability to scheme and bargain, this would have been a cakewalk. But they do. Don’t get me wrong. I admire the hell out of guys like Gaetz and Roy. But you’re taking on entrenched power much in the same way someone who starts up a business in a mature industry takes on the existing players. They have all their stuff paid for. They have all the best suppliers. They have all their factories built. They have all their employees trained. They have all their distributors in place. It makes competing very tough. You better have some angles that they have no way to cover. Or you are doomed. The establishment has many many players who have been working their way up through the ranks for years, and sometimes decades. They don’t want to interrupt that in mid game. The establishment has all kinds of incentives to bargain with. Our guys didn’t have that. So unless you can come up with a completely fresh angle, stuff like this while admirable is destined to flop at some point.
maybe hopefully the fresh angle is that more of the voters are watching and awakened and infuriated by this
I hope so. And I think that’s definitely happening. There will be a Berlin Wall moment at some point
Doesn’t matter… not one wit, how infuriated the voters are, IT WON’T CHANGE ANYTHING. “Voting” is merely a way to lull the peasants into passivity. At this point only fools believe that their vote means anything….only fools believe that their “representatives” actually represent the interests of their constituents. Even given the recent factual revelations of the manipulations by the FOURTH Branch to fix our elections and their undeniable success, along with the ongoing complacency of the “opposition” to accept the outcomes of these “rigged” elections, honest Americans, either blinded by their patriotic belief that this behavior cannot succeed in America or their foolishly naïve acceptance of the tired old GOP line…. “Just give us one more chance, we can fix everything”….all the while worshiping at the same alter or feeding trough with the Godless Socialists and outright Communists that have infested our system of government so completely that they will never be rooted out. This whole debacle being played out in the halls of Congress should let the faithful know for sure and without any question that there are fewer than 20 Republicans left in the House, even fewer in the Senate. We are on our own…Alamo time bitches. The only free America left is that dirt upon which YOUR feet are planted, it’s up to you to protect and defend that dirt. I pronounce the death of Free America as an institution….all that is left is the Alamo and I fear the same outcome as Cols. Travis and Bowie foresaw in 1836 when they drew the line in the sand.
His way of using the dems without actually using the dems.
BUT, the first time on the floor after he gets the speaker position this way, the holdouts can call for a vote on whether to remove him, and when the full house is convened, he will no longer hold a majority.
Dems will vote to retain him.
And the news media will praise the democrats for being bipartisan.
Yep. They know he is on their side.
None of these clowns watched Charlie Brown and his football.
They are pretending not to know how the Charlie Brown football works.
Please, believe me when I say, the only HOPE to have is in the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the only one that can stop these evil people. And he will.
No human on this earth will save you, not one.
You stop evil people with a rifle. Jesus never carried one nor an 80 pound ruck. When he does, I’ll listen to what he has to say.
Reminds me of when He said “I am He” and the bad-ass soldiers fell to the ground. John 18:6. Love that verse.
A detachment of soldiers: “That word (detachment), if it is correctly used, can have three meanings. It is the Greek word for a Roman cohort and a cohort had six hundred men. If it was a cohort of auxiliary soldiers, a speira had one thousand men, two hundred and forty cavalry and seven hundred and sixty infantry. Sometimes, much more rarely, the word is used for the detachment of men called a maniple which was made up of two hundred men.” (Barclay)
And they all fell down.
Put no confidence in princes… and certainly not in politicians.
I used to think that way as a child, but my actual life experience has altered and expanded my understanding greatly.
The support and allegiance I give to Jesus can’t be expected to be returned directly, or in kind. God works THROUGH people much, much more often than by any other sort of intervention. Jesus did not stop Hitler, Stalin or Pol Pot from murdering millions of innocents. But people HAVE saved ME when I was hungry and broke. Sometimes they were motivated by God, sometimes by simple pity or kindness. Sometimes the wicked are not punished, and are even given earthly rewards for their evil behavior. Sometimes good people CAN and DO stop evil people. In each instance WE must evaluate and decide what to do. God grants us the power to represent His principles and act in His stead as faithful servants.
It isn’t always on God, nor always on us either. The consistent thing is that God grants us all free will (out of love) to do good or evil AS WE CHOOSE. Praying for guidance does not absolve us from the responsibility to act.
Is it possible that God is starting to judge the US of A? Oh and there’s 1 Peter 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
As a nation, we have definitely distanced ourselves from Him. He has destroyed nations for that, even His beloved Israel.
I sincerely believe we must go back to Him, a nation under Him, and following His laws.
Oh, sure that’s possible. But it is also true that every empire in history eventually fell into moral decay and entropy. Is it because they lose the fear and respect of God, or because they grow too big and diverse to be sustainable? Maybe both. Rome converted to Christianity via the wives of citizens, but it had also been ruled by a number of evil men in succession, and had grown too far around the world to be managed through their technology and systems. Supply chain issues, pandemics, foreign military misadventures … sound familiar?
I think G-d expects us to act for ourselves. He is our support and our strength, but we have to do the actual work.
This was not hard to see coming. We will see if it works.
Dear America,
Bend over. Again.
Signed
The Uniparty.
You forgot,
Turn our head to the right and cough on the count of three…
Swamp critters just doing what corrupt, lying swamp critters do. Every one of them has an agenda and is owned. The entire GOP party has to be destroyed before any hint of change can occur.
Hopefully people are beginning to realize that the will of the people does not count and that elections have been rigged for decades.
Look, it’s easy to get numbed by what we’ve been seeing in recent years, especially by focusing on one weird and corrupt, disappointing event at a time. We just watched multiple national and state elections stolen outright, and this at roughly the same time that a bioweapon was released globally, citizens in formerly free countries all over the world were detained, sometimes forcibly, and both the judiciary and medical professions were prostituted to facilitate the violation of civil rights and the outright murder of countless citizens.
Think about it. Most of your doctors willingly participated in a genocide by refusing to treat seriously ill patients with effective, inexpensive, and safe medications, and then proceeded to coerce their patients, young and old, into taking an experimental gene modification that a good many of them must have known was, at least, highly questionable and which was soon revealed to be a vector for the spreading of disease and death.
Don’t fool yourself into thinking that this is about a bunch of corrupt politicians, journalists, and judges. A significant proportion of our fellow citizens and authority figures have literally and incontrovertibly gone mad. Forgive them for they know not what they do, but don’t be so naive as to think that this is just garden variety malfeasance.
This is what it looks like when crazy people are in charge. This is what it looks like when a culture has lost its purchase in objective reality and returns to the idolatry, materialism, hedonism, human sacrifice, and ruination that has always characterized paganism.
There is only one way out, and it is the same one that formed western civilization over many centuries and which we have gradually but systematically abandoned over the last several centuries. God only knows what it will take to return to those roots, but the disappointments will keep mounting until we and our children and their children do so.
“This is what it looks like when crazy people are in charge”.
Nope. This is what elected people do when corporate coin is flashed. Lure of easy money always wins over principle.
Yes this is what it looks like when a culture has lost its purchase in objective reality.
The tech coming at us this year with virtual reality, AI, and chatGPT. will make it near impossible to stay grounded in reality.
God alone decides how this war ends.
Our place is to run a good race, keep the faith, and fight the good fight.
If the battle is ( and it IS) between good and evil… then we are to put on the full armor and keep standing on the truth. The outcome is not up to us.
Pray therefore that God’s will be done. It’s fruitless to hope for anything else,
As the performance comes to a close… cue the music:
Certainly fits if MTG is said woman.
well so many more of the whores are men, so there’s that
What’s your issue with MTG?
Did she say ‘no’ to your offer or proposal?
I was on a different site earlier, and we were throwing out suggestions for what Kevin should do for the people who are keeping him from his Precious. There were about 500 hundred of them. There were some gems.
All the agreements are totally pointless.
It doesn’t matter if one member can bring McCarthy back to floor for removal if there are not enough votes to remove him.
There are too many swamp creatures.
The best thing is to NEVER let McCarthy in.
Can that be done?
If every member stays and votes there will be an endless stalemate until someone gets the idea they won’t win.
But if people start staying home, McCarthy will win like Pelosi did afew years ago with 216.
Voting McCarthy does NOT any sense.
McCarthy has very consistent record of voting with the Globalists.
Why Do 201 GOP Reps Continue to Vote for Kevin McCarthy Who Gets an “F” Liberty Score from Conservative Review? via @gatewaypundit https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/01/201-gop-reps-continue-vote-kevin-mccarthy-f-conservative-rating/?utm_source=Twitter&utm_campaign=websitesharingbuttons
Because the republicans are the same as the democrats. They are owned by the same globalist billionaires.
It is only the illusion of choice.
The people have no representation.
Actually the people get what they voted for. Yes, there is cheating, but there are still millions of voters who believe government should solve all their problems and give them free stuff. That won’t change until this country is bankrupt.
Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.
H.L. Mencken
And he was reelected in his District in 2022 with less than 69k, down considerably from 2018.
He’s VERY unpopular everywhere.
Retired Magistrate here: After the latest “dog and pony” show it is even more important to make your home your Alamo; your bastion of freedom and peace. Don’t look to Washington to provide this for you, it is up to you.
My husband and I were talking about what paying a lot of local, state and federal taxes do for us; we came up with very little.
Real estate taxes go to fund schools, great, we don’t have children but we fund those that do. We also pay a school district tax for those children that we don’t have. We have our own well, and septic system so no, government doesn’t benefit us there either. With our driveway our house will burn down before the fire department can get up, so no benefit. If someone breaks in it is up to us to protect ourselves, which we will do. No offense to law enforcement (many years ago I was a police officer) but by the time they get there the offense has been committed.
It looks like we pay federal taxes to support Ukraine and our installed officials; so no benefit there. In the latest fiasco with McCarthy I was thrilled that the House of Representatives could not wreck any more havoc on us for at least a few days. Now back to the same old, same old.
So, take care of your own the best you can; stock up on needed supplies, especially non perishable food, have wood cut if you have a wood burning stove or fireplace, fuel oil/propane in your tank in you live in the country and keep your house in good repair. It is up to us with GOD’s help, to take care of ourselves, just like our parents and grandparents did.
The Friday night dump is about to happen. KM gets the vote and the house rules are passed that contain none or few of the concession items with the help of Demonrats. All the while the plebes are snuggled fast in their beds.
Sugar plum fairies danced in their heads.
Could those of the rebel 20 not vote for him tonight to offset the missing dems, or were they part of the original plan? If so, then why did they let the voting continue 13 times over 4 days?
The rebel 20 is no longer. I’d be very surprised if any flip back. Also, two McCarthyites are apparently returning to vote.
Did they do a deal with the dems so they wouldn’t show up?
Even I know the drill by now.
McCarthy will end up with the gravel which was made known to him all along.
And I just have to ask myself was all this Kabuki dance drama just to keep them in practice.
I expect nothing from this herd of grifting imbeciles in the House of reprobates.
It’s just more proof that U.S. Democracy (whatever that’s suppose to mean) is an absolute sham.
And the Eastern Alliance (Eurasia) is no longer willing to have this rules based system crammed down their throats any longer.
I expect you are right and then he will pull a Schumer and all the Manchins expecting
the deal will look like fools..Cuz he won;t honor it…How stupid
are they to believe he will…did he pinky swear..did he promise on his
loved one grave..did he give his word..and they would believe any
of that.
A Manchurian puppet. Once you see the master’s manipulating the strings, can’t unsee them.
Sorry but they all feed off of the Sam trough…. Just a classic dog & pony show…
This is POLITICS. If you think for one moment it’s the College of Cardinals, think again. Divine intervention is not the driving force, here.
Politics: Not for the faint of heart.
Can we get a cuter suspicious kitty? This one looks like a Fentanyl-ed out zombie.
It seems he is no longer just suspicious. He knows exactly what they are.
I guess PDT will be on the phone at 10, why not?
He is playing Russian Roulette with a loaded gun. What if EVERY DIM shows up?
If he loses to the DIMs it will be on his head, not the principled leaders who don’t trust Kevin, not one whit, the same as the rest of us.
This smacks so of what they all did to us exactly 2 years ago today. Waited till the dead of night when we were all exhausted to ram though an illegitimate Resident and his maladministration.
And the same with the Russia-Russia-Russia hoax.
It is all fake.
We learned that after it was recently confirmed that the CIA killed President Kennedy.
“In a feat of political sorcery—fueled by lies, cover-ups, and careerism—the Biden Regime has transformed an unruly, four-hour protest into an act of domestic terror.” – By Julie Kelly over at American Greatness dotcom
January 6: A Day That Will Live in Alchemy › American Greatness (amgreatness.com)
I suspect there will be a motion to adjourn till Monday noon as soon as the gavel in at 10p, same as the have done previously. KM can’t risk it. Then wheel and deal all weekend.
I disagree. Kev and his operators have arranged for him to win in tonight’s late vote. It’s a done deal, made with the help of both sides (uniparty).
A couple of things disturb me. First, Jim Jordan does not want the job and has voted for McCarthy consistently. Apparently, as goes champion game-playing, this is supposed to mean nothing? OK. Whatever.
Why isn’t the complete unity of the dims actually ‘groupthink’? Is this what we want from Republicans? No debate? No discourse? Just marching in step? The dims are in lockstep and are taking our country away from us. Jeffries. Oh heavens. He helped impeach my President.
This has been an amazing opportunity to get some truths out about what is going on in our country. I am disappointed that some of the most accomplished ‘teachers’ who have nominated others besides McCarthy, and who have spoken so clearly about the trouble we are in, have flipped. Others like Thomas Massie, Jim Jordan, and MTG, who we have looked to for honesty and leadership, have stood their ground, haven’t they.
The fact is that we don’t have a single clue about what is going on. We elected these people and we have to wait for them to finish whatever deals they are brokering and pray that it is for the benefit of WTP. If not McCarthy, then who? Jeffries?
Okay, I’ve stayed off the computer all day and never had the TV on at all.
Come here and check things out and I’m just chuckling!
Who amongst is surprised by this maneuver?
PLEASE RAISE YOUR HAND!!!
Now I expect we’re are about to read all the Anti-Trumpian comments, (made up or for real), among other nasty, nasty, hateful words.
But, I not participating, because this does not surprise me at all; it was gonna go one way or the other and quite frankly, I think this was the plan all along. It’s political theatre. It has happened before and will most likely happen again and again in our lifetime.
You don’t drain the Swamp in one small win……
Grow up, big boy/girl pants time now and try not to be too judgmental.
What would you do if you were in Congress right now?
I’d be one of the six still standing.
Good on you!
Ditto.
IlDonaldoTrumpo gab
AMEN!!!
https://rumble.com/v247ta2-amen.html
He’s right you know.
“…right is still right, even if you stand by yourself.”
It’ll be interesting to see what these turncoats are rewarded with. What do 30 pieces of silver get one these days?
Committee assignments and probably important ones.
None of this is surprising. Hell, I know elections for president of a class in high school that took advantage of days they knew kids would be on field trips.
The way for us to go forward no matter who is selected as Speaker, is to make sure we organize ourselves to stop buying products from companies that screw us.
The internet makes doing that pretty easy.
TRUTH President Trump
LOOKING VERY GOOD FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, AND OUR COUNTRY, TONIGHT. ALL COMING TOGETHER. STAY TUNED!!!
https://truthsocial.com/users/realDonaldTrump/statuses/109644570275884948
Really don’t know where Trump is coming from anymore….unless he’s got a better grip on McCarthy’s leash than Luntz. (I don’t really think that’s what is happening though.)
I no longer want to hear hype from our beloved 45th President. Especially when his definition of “looking very good” involves Kevin McCarthy becoming House Speaker.
I am getting the impression that a lot of Trump’s base is not too happy with him lately.
“I am getting the impression that a lot of Trump’s base is not too happy with him lately.”
Not about his support for Kevin McCarthy, that’s for damn sure.
Don’t you wish you knew what President Trump has on Kevin and these negotiations?
No, because years ago, Trump told us “I have it all,” and that never amounted to anything, and now we have a diaper-crapping brain-dead vegetable occupying the Oval Office.
Mike Davis just told Bannon he believes McCarthy will not whip the votes necessary to actually back the AGREED-TO changes in the rules when and if he take the Speaker’s chair. Davis thinks McCarthy is playing them.
Of course, Davis is supporting Scalise. I say “no” to that too. Scalise is only marginally better, IF THAT!
Mike Davis has been around the block a few times and I defer to him.
I respect him a great deal.
Then Davis also said he would support Donalds. I question his naivete supporting RINO Scalise who has done nothing.
There was a time I would have supported Scalise. However he has changes drastically in the last 2 years.
Scalise is backing McCarthy. And of course McC is playing them. and when he gets his speakership, McC will ream every one of the 7 or 6 who were against him like never has been done before. He will cripple them.
Well the 14 who flipped can flip right back . They should be aware of this numbers game.
Time to pray that they won’t be deceived .
They are there and we are not; makes a big difference in reality.
So….why can’t we the people see the House rules package before it’s voted on? Oh….that’s right we’re supposed to trust our corrupticians that they have our best interests in mind.
OKAY, so if you see the package, then what?
It’s called transparency.
Then we know there is a package and what is in it. You sound like Piglosi, we will have to pass the bill firat before we can see what is in it.
Rino
Yes!
Someone on TruthSocial suggested that a democrat is probably going to have “a family emergency.”
Sounds about right.
Those Dems know how to score a cool $100K; just go home! I think George Washington would have killed them all!
It will be Bernie. He’ not even a DIM, right? Right? No one takes handouts better than Bernie.
No more Profiles in Courage, just deceptions and we get to pay for it.
I’d like to see the bank accounts and/or tax returns of every member of leadership.
EVERY member in the House and Senate, not just leadership.
They are all in it to make money. Their not in DC for the people.
Doing my own math, KM be elected speaker on the 13th round of voting. I’m not superstitious, but it would be just about right for this situation.
I posted this morning, but no replies…there’s just so much info here to go through…
Anyway, I’ll post again.
“I have a question. I tried to find the info about the quorum rules, but the “legalese” is beyond my early demented mind/understanding.
What if members of Congress go home…for the weekend, for medical or other appointments, etc.?
Is the 218 to win set in stone?
Or is it a percentage (51%) of the members physically present? (Sundance answered)
Pelosi allowed “remote vote” or something like that…is that still allowed?
I did find this….and I’m still confused. Could Jeffries win this?
“The candidate to become speaker needs a majority of the votes from House members who are present and voting.
Historically, the magical number has been 218 out of the 435 members of the House. But many previous speakers, including outgoing Speaker Nancy Pelosi, have ascended to the dais with fewer votes than that, as some members voted present instead of calling out a name. Every lawmaker voting “present” lowers the overall tally needed to reach a majority.”
https://www.voanews.com/a/explainer-how-the-house-of-representatives-elects-a-speaker/6907009.html
Our fearless leader Sundance seems to have addressed this with this post.
My understanding is the vote, for electing the next speaker of the House, is the majority of those present. Like you, hard to find specifics of how that came about. Probably because it’s simply a rule and the House can vote to change their rules whenever they want to, for any reason they want to. Even the rules that have become tradition. Pelosi changed rules in the middle of the game all the time.
No, it’s based on members present.
Take the total votes including the non-votes called “present”, divide by 2 and add 1. That is what either party needs to win. Present = ZERO but counts in the total.
Last time around they needed 217. Every other day this week it was 218.
They don’t go to the doctors, the doctors go to them.
Better be careful with this late night nonsense.
If the democrats come out in full force and the republicans do not, we could wind up with a democrat speaker.
“If the democrats come out in full force and the republicans do not, we could wind up with a democrat speaker.”
If Kevin McCarthy wins, we will wind up with a Democrat speaker, too.
This new drama, house speaker, reminds me of the few that dig in their heels to stand up to the corrupt, IE Canadian Truckers. It’s bread and circus for the non critical thinking Obama/Biden/Fetterman ballot casters. Our nation will trundle along to the bottom with the IPhones and govt checks along McCarthy, Nancy, Joe and Mitch.
… yes…
