Cobalt is a mined mineral needed for all rechargeable batteries including phones, pads, laptops and Electric Vehicles (EV’s). According to Siddharth Kara, an author and expert on modern-day slavery, human trafficking and child labor, approximately 72% of all the cobalt mined globally comes from the Congo.
Within his new book “Cobalt Red: How the Blood of the Congo Powers Our Lives,” Kara outlines how slave labor and child labor work these cobalt mines. Kara appeared on the Joe Rogan podcast {Direct Rumble Link to segment} to discuss his research and findings after visiting these Congolese mines. Contrasting the “Green Movement” claims that their efforts are to “save the planet” by switching everyone to EV’s, the issues Kara outlines are remarkable. WATCH:
Democrats have hated “people of color” since the Indian Removals Act of 1830, why should the kiddos of Congo be any different? With an estimated $24 TRILLION in rare earths laying around in Congo it will be interesting to see how the ‘Tards In Charge separate these minerals from the people living on top of them.
If a McDonald’s worker can be replaced by a robot in Texas, much to the harm of all, why can’t these slaves have use of a tractor? Wouldn’t that be more efficient than children digging with their hands? Then why won’t they do it? Are companies like Apple under-capitalized?
Hand mined toxic minerals turned into phones(mind control) built in factories(gulags) with anti suicide nets to keep the workers(slaves) from jumping to their deaths on their lunch breaks(10 minute break for a handful if rice and a methamphetamine tablet). Just like Steve Jobs envisioned on one of his many LSD trips.
Truth is a robot cannot replace the average low iQ southern hemisphere illegal immigrant.
The issue is throughput. Robots CANNOT run at the speed a fast food restaurant needs to run at.
They ain’t made a robot that can re-shingle a house!
Its quite humbling to see the reality
that world wide, wef, globalists, high tech makers and users,
are contributing to
slavery.
p.s. In the U.S. there was a civil war, that resulted in incremental less
slavery
within the U.S.
But, with the current massive abortions, replacements with illegal immigrations,
and
slave
mining etc…..
that ‘civil’ war has become erased by current miss actions – for years.
Not knowing, or pretending that cobalt mining uses heavy machinery in well paid communities,
while people sacrifice their lives, health for a pittance ($1 a day)
is sad, sick, a travesty.
[ while promoting their supposed clean high technology (battery operated devices, and vehicles) ]
It sad – and uncivil –
that wooden-nickels, fiction, false narratives are so embedded in a
so called civil society -for decades,
while others across the world,
enjoy removing God from public places
and have the creature benefits,
the high dignity of private restrooms, no perspiration, no blistered hands, eat ice cream, sip their favorite beverage, and miss build their wealth
at the huge, HUGE, tremendous costs of others lives,
health and well being – little if any creature benefits etc.
Thank you Kara for seeking out and shining the light on truth of dirty mining and then some.
(while also having been duped by the wef / globalist miss narratives (fiction) into thinking switching from fossil fuels to electric batteries “is a net good thing”….when it is not proven to be, due to even more propaganda pushing. )
By nature, the weather still changes….and that is o.k….
even though
there are human$ (telling people otherwise) while using
slaves
to mine cobalt etc. for decades…sick. (no jab would not cure that illness, but something else might….
truth be shared far and wide, and then action (not words)).
Love thy neighbors
It would be interesting to know who owns these cobalt mines. I read years ago that China was buying up all mineral mines in Africa. Wonder if there is any truth to that?
he says at the beginning: CHYNA
Hunter Biden’s firm helped China gain control of electric-car mineral: report
https://nypost.com/2021/11/20/hunter-bidens-firm-helped-china-get-electric-car-mineral-report/
Odd timing of this expose. Outside of a Vice Channel documentary about “Cannabis in Congo” that I saw a few months back the liberals have not had any problem with how rare earths have been obtained or which companies used them. Now that Elon is more or less pulling back the curtain on Twitler, this cat pops up on Rogan. Don’t get me wrong, anything that slows out descent into a technological hell is a very good thing. There is nothing “renewable” about a “gadget driven lifestyle”.
Liberals have NEVER had a problem with exploiting other people: their whole virtue signaling over not having or wearing “blood” or “conflict” diamonds was just that –another con. It created a whole industry of “certifications” for diamonds that they were “conflict free”. Ha!. The same can (and probably will) be done here. Just certify the cobalt as slavery free.
what is the solution? tell the truth to yourself! ALL OF THE THINGS THAT COME FROM CHINA are produced by SLAVES whether in the Congo or on the Chinese mainland. EVs, Solar panels, wind turbines are a HOAX.
Now, do what you can to stop it at YOUR level. If you think a government is going to stop it, you are dreaming.
Ma’am, my laptop is 7 years old and I do not have a cell phone. I drive a 1995 Chevy Cheyenne 4×4 with a 383 Stroker engine. This blog is the last of my technological addiction. I buy nothing from China, which ends up costing me more money looking for things not made by their brand of enslavement.
I congratulate you!
Thank you, Ma’am.
That 383 is a stump-pulling beast!
Yessir! I pulled the diesel engine out and slapped the gas burner in!
My laptop had to be replaced this year (2022). It was a 2010 and took 10 minutes to boot up and the hinge on the lid was broken. I also purchased a refurbished 4 year old cell phone so that it will not end up in a landfill.
I appreciate what you are doing.
I really miss the 80’s and 90’s.
Know what came to mind when I saw this man’s reporting?
How much money has the United States pumped into “Africa” through various NGOs? How many celebrities have supported the generic cause of “Africa”, and for how long?
It’s still like this?
Remember the Clinton Global Initiative?
This breaks my heart. I suppose I need to remember that we are just passing through.
I think the talk of reparations is just a ruse to deflect from the slavery going on today. Dear God… how can we help?
Thanks for learning today that slavery wasn’t invented in this country. It has been around the world and still is for a looong time.
Slave traders were from Africa….the CCP now operates the slave market in Africa. Talk to them about reparations.
No one has benefitted anymore that black Americans from the Constitution and the laws that it permitted to free slaves from the 1800. The fact that so many decided to be anti=white and reject education as a means to gain wealth isn’t my fault. The hogwash that is spewed to build up black is one big lie. I know lots of poor white people. What’s going to happen to them. The color of one’s skin doesn’t instantly qualify anyone for wealth.
The Congo has a government. What are
they doing? Taking money like a four term democrat I imagine. Regardless, they should step up and take care of the problem.
This is directly tied to the piece of legislation gov newsom propped and the slice his kids trust will receive
5% to big guy in DC
Yes, the Congo has a government. No minimum wage and a culture where this isn’t just tolerable, but is fine. It takes law through the government by the people for change how it’s resources are mined and what should be paid to workers.
If the equivalent of 1 USD is the prevailing wage for such work at this time, then that is what is going to be paid.
What it seems is that he is an activist who wants change to come through implementation of corporate statism and forced by the end product consumer. I am not down with that at all.
Woke communists only care about American slavery that’s come and gone and there is nothing to be done about it and nobody left who was involved. Modern day slavery means nothing to them. That’s why they never talk about how Obama and Hillary “liberated” Libya. In short, they’re all lying hypocrites.
“All of the above”
New energy policy not because of Glo “bull” warming, but because it makes sense.
After the Emancipation proclamation was signed, Connecticut (Ivoryton and Deep River) continued to import ivory from east Africa’s Zanzibar/Tanganyika region for its lucrative piano manufacturing. It was estimated that each tusk exported cost five black lives, but the Omani-Arabian flesh/spice/ ivory trade continued. In fairness, many of the tusk carriers were sold by black tribal leaders. And so now, once again, America and its leftist politicians look away as young black lives are slave labor source for our product (EV batteries?), even as the same politicians gain power by crying “racist” at every white conservative they can find.
“Green Prince of Darkness Exposed” > photo-electric cells are unsustainable molecular erosion. Along with wind mills, biofuels and batteries are unsustainable.
“From Muscle Power to Carbon Empowerment” > hydrocarbons exist throughout the Universe and on Earth are fission decay byproducts and are RENEWABLE.
Both articles at principia-scientific.com > also watch “Planet of the Humans” documentary by Michael Moore
He sounds convincing but I have to wonder why such a high demand mineral isn’t mined with conventional methods. One excavator machine could do the work of thousands of people hand picking at the earth. Five machines could do the the work in one day that several thousand people could do in a year.
This may actually be happening but it seems a bit suspect when the demand is as great as he claims it to be. Even the smallest remote gold mining operations utilize power equipment.
The demand alone would necessitate actual modern mining operations.
Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.
Slavery equals no labor cost.
Slavery never ended in western culture. It was dormant for awhile, but has since been outsourced to China. If history is any lesson, the war to end it will be unimaginable.
I doubt we outsourced slavery to China. China has been around longer than us and their people know slavery.
Our country learned slavery from the early slave traders in Africa.
I seem to remember “early slave traders in Africa” were MUSLUM !!
LameBron and the rest of the NBA are A-OK with slave labor to make their garbage shoes.
Like the soccer balls hand sewn in Pakistan by children. They are allowed access to education as long as production is not affected .
With all the net lose regarding electric vehicles that is proven his book is probably not worth the read .
The 14 minute segment with Rogen told you who is running the show . Just like many in the US Government the CCP runs the show and pulls all the strings
First, there are not enough rare earth minerals for IC cars to be replaced by electric vehicles. If there were such rare earths to be obtained it would take untold trillions of dollars to put forth an electric infrastructure to support them in mass. It is just a scam, like all of our foreign rulers other scams. They don’t want you driving any vehicle much less electric ones. The purpose of electric vehicle “replacement” is to destroy the manufacturing of IC vehicles and the ability of people to travel. It is a control thing.
Speaking of control. In totally unrelated news I had a Doctor’s appointment this week. I was called by the medical conglomerate to notify me that my Doctor is “sick” and they are not sure when he will return. I inquired some more and it turns out that he is in the hospital with a “heart issue.” He is 50 years old and looked to be in good health by my estimation in 2021, the last I saw him. He is or was at that time an enthusiastic advocate for the “vax.”
I am sure it was global warming or something that has caused the heart issue. At least he bought a Tesla last year, so he is doing his part.
So many stupid doctors!
Exactly.
Remember how people used to try to shame people who wore fur? Back in the 90s it was popular with the left side who had no problem wearing leather shoes/purses.
It seemed to work too. Imo.
How about some (admittedly) hypocritical (ipad input) shaming of the EV owners? Their cars run on slave labor. Let the argument begin there.
I like it! Thanks for the idea!
Great post. That tesla, ev cost 1000 Congo children their lives, health and freedoms. This could catchon big. Elon musk better sell tesla corp. or stop making evs. If not. He is not the Patriot I thought he was. Time will tell.
There are cobalt deposits in many places, even here in the U.S., where mining practices follow rigorous standards of operation and pay excellent living wages, with no child labor, but, as a result of going to these less regulated nations many mine operators, many of them Chinese owned, undercut legitimately responsible mining companies because no one can compete against products produced by close to, if not actual, slave labor.
China, in it’s ability to mine and bring to market minerals by these below industry standard mining practices actually tanked the tungsten market, driving prices so low that responsible mining operators, including mines in the US, simply could not compete.
Over the years this undercutting of responsible mining companies abilities to produce product slowly shut down their operations and now China has cornered the market on rare earths productions, and items such as cobalt, exploiting child labor and definitely environmental considerations.
Recently a US company was awarded a grant by the US govt to open a mine for rare earth minerals here in the US, and to build a refinery for said minerals as a means to begin to correct the imbalance.
It’s a start, one that began under President Trump and am thankful that at least this is one initiative FJB has not been able to erase; probably because even in all its wokeness the military knows they need these minerals to do their military things.
This gentleman has done good work, but it’s telling that even in spite of what his own two eyes have told him, he fails to see beyond that small bloody bit of real estate to the world beyond it. He must actually believe the global warming narrative and from there it’s just a small step imagining he supports globalism as a “net” good. What does it take to awaken the woke? I wonder if Rogan inquired about his personal politics.
I often think of this prose by Johnathan Swift. Cobalt Mines anyone?
https://www.fulltextarchive.com/book/A-Modest-Proposal/
So, when can we expect Leo DiCaprio’s “Blood Cobalt” sequel to “Blood Diamond,” or does Xi have control of his pocketbook too.
Not having honest journalism is destroying humanity. This is why the powerful fear free speech.
I read the comments before watching the video, and am flummoxed that people are up in arms about this man supposedly saying that electric vehicles are a “net” good thing. I didn’t hear anything even remotely resembling that.
But anyway, by the way, I heard as long as 20 years ago that a man, an Australian I believe, had invented a car that runs on water. He was murdered. Of course. I think it’s good that people know that these earth-and-humanity-destroying technologies are completely unnecessary.
Anyway: this explains another email I got today, from TeleSUR (which reports on Global-South issues). South Sudan is now proudly sending “peacekeeping troops” to the Congo. You know, to keep down those pesky “rebels” who probably want their people to not be slaves.
At the end of that article, there’s a previous tweet from TeleSur_english about Congolese protesters being killed by UN “peacekeepers.” So of course we know what THAT is all about.
Anyone who claims this is entirely a Chinese enterprise are either incredibly ignorant or, mor likely, paid agitators. Don’t be fools and jump on their bandwagon. There are only about 287 people in the world who own ALL multi-national companies. Trust me, they’re not people who adhere to ANY nationality; and they’re not “mostly Chinese,” FFS. Get real.
Years ago, I was given some Coca Cola stock by an aunt. When it came time for shareholders to vote on various issues, the higher-ups in the company had the gall to TELL people how to vote. The one issue I remember was something about creating a committee to insure humane conditions among the lowest-level workers, overseas. They “advised” us to vote against it, saying it would just be costly, and added some BS argument to the effect that “we have already made sure everything in that regard is A-Ok.” So this man, Kara, totally confirms my suspicion that that was flat-out lying; there’s one and only one reason they don’t want working conditions looked into, and that’s because the conditions are atrocious.
Kara thinks it’s a “net good thing” to transition away from internal combustion engines to EV’s. Rogan did not explore that statement as I wish he would have.
Also, neither Kara nor Rogan offered a solution(s) for us.
The terrible conditions in the Congo seem to beg for more government assistance or intervention. What a tragic bag of worms.
Honest prayer: God help us!
It’s up to us to solve the problems that journalists bring to light. 😉
So…what is the Optimal % of CO2 for Earth’s atmosphere? And is this a static number or does it depend on thousands of other variables? Including variables that are interdependent.
Who knows? Leave it up to God!
This is one of the reasons I got out of the cell phone/tablet bz after a decade and a half. And even though I always instituted trade-in and recycling programs, and educated the sales people and the customers on this blight, E-waste is also a YUGE problem. We here in the USA ship ours to dumps in the most impoverished lands on earth, just like we do with our plastic trash that actually makes it into a recycling bin.
I can cite article after article and video and photos, but the best way to find out how it is polluting the earth, and where, is to do a search on: “Where do old cell phones go to die?” And it’s not just cell phones, it’s smart phones, tablets, TVs, monitors, and everything under the sun.

So what is the alternative to human labor to mine cobalt, AI machines? If so, then what happens to the human labor source, mass starvation and death? I know it sounds inhumane to the soft underbelly of the western world but they are just trying to survive. Do you really expect us to give up our phones? C’mon man! (Sarc)
Anytime there is a green initiative there are a unique few who profit while many suffer.
These initiatives rely on government support.
So the $7500 tax break to buy a EV puts more at risk in these Cobalt mines?
Makes you wonder, no?
I think all those people should be given reparations for all the slavery. Start with welfare handouts and and then just give a monthly payment of $10,000 to every man woman and child due to poverty and mismanagement lack of personal responsibility.
I work with Africans who still have families in Africa they have a totally different culture and they don’t have debt.
We here in America are all tied to banks. A house now is $1,000,000 in several states for a small dwelling place. Because of banks and debt. They own it not you. A car now $50,000 to $100,000 Africa not that way.
Banks have enslaved nations Africa and the Congo are no different.
Insurance co own banks, banks own insurance companies. Any loss come from the bank side and comes from our pockets. No loss except our nation. They system is broken, where is the UN? Chasing mask mandates and vaccines. UN was our global police.
That’s another issue, if these batteries are all so wonderful why slave labor? Oil doesn’t use slave labor. Gas either, nuclear. These people have to go.
