If you visit a local library, you may discover there was a time when the focus of electricity companies was to generate and provide the most dependable, efficient, lowest cost and critical power to customers who need electricity to live. Alas, those were in the olden days, when service providers were generally focused on improving the quality of life of their customers.
In the modern era, the horrible carbon emitters, aka customers, have become the parasite to manage. People are now a problematic encumbrance blocking the high-minded climate and financial aspirations of the energy corporations.
Heating, cooling and comfort? Get a grip Boomers and GenXer’s, those insufferably selfish indulgences were the priorities of yesteryear.
Yes Alice, as we try to peer through the looking glass, we discover it’s a mirror now. The reflection is the opposite of normal, the reflection is the world of pretending. Say hello to the modern Christmastime when you pray for coal in your stocking.
From Pennsylvania and New Jersey, westward to Illinois and Ohio and all the way south into South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and beyond, power companies are turning off the electricity to preserve and equally distribute the minimal amount of energy they are able to generate.
This my friends, is the “equitable distribution of misery.” How weird does it feel to see that generational prediction turning into reality?
TENNESSEE – […] The TVA began instructing local power companies to reduce power usage on Friday night, and some have instituted rolling blackouts in some cities such as Nashville, Tennessee. Some local power companies have also started using rolling blackouts after the TVA asked them to reduce power usage.
PJM Interconnection, based in Pennsylvania, also asked companies within its system to conserve energy. The company asked residents to turn off non-essential lights, set their thermostats lower than usual, and not use major appliances like dishwashers and laundry machines, the AP reported.
PJM covers areas in Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, D.C, according to the AP. (read more)
I was born in the early 1960s. I don’t remember anyone ever freezing to death In this country but I know it’s going to happen this winter.
The Uniparty wants us dead.
The uniparty really only cares about members in the uniparty club.
If members get out of hand they too are froze out.
Members of the uniparty are 90% evil members – estimated.
Now because of the twitter documentation and FBI malfeasance disclosures hopefully a miracle will occur in 2024.

Its going to take a mircale for President Trump to win reelection in 2024.
It could happen.
I believe in miracles and have seen them happen.
Merry Christmas from Captain Convey.
It doesn’t matter who votes, only who counts the votes. This country is doomed. Burn it all down and start again.
Those vote counters are named, Samuel Colt, Smith and Wesson., John C Garand
what matters is who is registered to vote, the registration rolls. the DemocRATs are expert at putting phantom voters on the rolls, and using them to obtain ballots to bring out after polls close.
“We’re in a situation where we have put together, and you guys did it for our administration…President Obama’s administration before this. We have put together, I think, the most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization in the history of American politics,”

And THAT QUOTE should be ‘Front and Center’ in every ad for every Rep., Independent, Conservative candidate, going forward… and Constantly used in EVERY interview henceforth. WHY HASN’T IT, AND WHY ISN’T IT??????
Mike is Right! Get rid of the machines, or Conservatives will never win anywhere.
klaus schwab wants us dead Because we consume too many resources.
He should chock on them, yes.
The Uniparty, and their parent organization the WEF.
Simply question; Who put the evil trash from the WEF in charge of the planet anyway? One can only guess that an evil as encompassing as that has to be satanic
And the illegals are our replacements.
You can’t have those high paid Americans costing companies the profits they need to donate to democrats! Make unemployment a hardship instead of a lifestyle paid by government and the left loses control.
The Uniparty is serving their master, Satan, who wants us dead.
I suggest everyone read read the latest from “Geoenginerring Watch Global Alerts.”
Can the government control the weather? There is a video from the 1960’s with Lyndon Johnson saying, “Whoever controls the weather, controls the world.” –You decide.
Here is the URL https://www.geoengineeringwatch.org/geoengineering-watch-global-alert-news-december-24-2022-385/
Here is the short text:
“Gov. warns people to get where they need to be before potential flash freeze”. Does this sound like headline straight out of “The Day After Tomorrow” movie? Temperatures in some regions crashed by as much as 75 degrees in only hours. What does it take to wake the sleeping masses? How bad does it have to get before more of the population opens their eyes and realizes something is very wrong with our skies and our weather? “Winter Storm Elliot” is the latest chemical ice nucleation cloud seeding creation from the weather makers. Geoengineering operations are wreaking havoc around the world, how long do we have before the climate system completely collapses bringing civilization with it?…
I honestly don’t know If I can trust this source, but it is news.
Our government has 49+ patents of weather control procedures and if people don’t believe it the patent office and our government patents can be viewed.
Atmospheric heaters and NEXRAD radar along with HAARP create huge disturbances and weather can be controlled.
Yes, our haarp, pine gap Aussie, and mobile arrays ship-bourne. Enhanced power / efficiency when run w a generated plasma cloud (lower altitude). It’s been a long time, I need to bone up on this again.
I am no scientist, but wouldn’t all of these “5G” towers be emitting powerful microwaves like a HAARP system everywhere not just Alaska?
“wouldn’t all of these “5G” towers be emitting powerful microwaves….” Auh NO!
Funny thing… here in SE WI it’s single digit temps since Thursday but by the end of next week, temps will be in the mid/hi 40s.
My granddaughter asked me today, “grandma, why is WI weather so bi-polar?”
East Texas here got down to 9 later this week will be upper 60’s. 🤷
HA! Good ?
I despise the cold so it’s good. And timely. My sump pump discharge froze & the warm-up will give me a day or 2 to fix it.
In decades past, the sump pump never ran in the winter but the ground hasn’t frozen 3’ deep for almost a decade now.
All in all, I had heat & power throughout the storm so I’m blessed. I’ll fix it & life goes on.
They are obviously not entirely lying when they talk about man made climate alteration, as they are the ones doing it.
I’m in East Texas and two days before the cold hit here we saw criss cross patterns in the sky and the plane. It got down to 9 degrees here. Then two days later they were doing it again. 🤔
Reminds me of an old Texas tale. You know how we harvest frog legs? We wait for a blue norther (aka a bomb cyclone). When it hits, the temperature drops extremely fast. The frogs around the pond will jump in to stay warm, but about the time they hit the water it freezes, leaving their legs sticking up out of the ice. We just get a lawn mower and go harvest.
Merry Christmas
HAHA, I’ve had frog legs in Florida, so they were not frozen. They were alive and kicking before being cut and fried. Tasty, like chicken but a little sweeter.
Criss cross patterns in the sky over Florida today. Not sure what it all means.
Freezing in the central part of the state. Last year it did not get to freezing until January and it stayed just a few days. Then, left and came back for a few days.
It means the weather causes more visibility of the same flights day after day crisscrossing the sky that you never noticed before because their path was NOT visible.
We have been in NE/NC FL since Nov 30..it was very damp, rainy and cold on Amelia Island..we arrived in Ocala Friday night ..our heat in our guest hose would not kick on..it was 55 inside and 23 outside..it will be 70 by Thursday. Pittsburgh got slammed with wind and cold..it was 1 degree Friday, loss of electricity and frozen pipes all over the city. My contractor had to defrost pipes at my airbnb..couldn’t do it..he said he has never felt cold like that..he made 6 calls before my house..it will be 50 by Thursday???
Colder temperatures at flight altitude condensing the jet exhaust into contrails is my first guess.
H.A.A.R.P. Look it up.
My sister sees the patterns of this out west and we can almost predict the storms coming east because of it …
Johnson’s Texas A&M speech is well worth a listen. Iran has been accusing the EU of stealing their water for years. Qatar is making thunderstorms.
We have almost daily cloud seeding operations overhead here at our farm. The other morning I could smell the chemicals. We have video and photos of black shiny stuff being sprayed. There are about 40 companies doing this spraying.
I think anyone looking at the past 3 years objectively should conclude the They is trying to kill everyone. We are being played by mentally ill Global Fascists bought and paid for by the OUN-B Hell bent upon wiping out Russians, you and me, Africans, Central and South Americans, Europeans, Central Europeans, The Down Under crowd, as well as anyone else I have not mentioned.
Thank gosh it is Christmas Day and we can celebrate the person who provides the strength to go on with everyday life. I miss my Grandfather and his sermons with me in his arms at the pulpit.
Merry Christmas.
My meteorology professor said he was consulted about rainmaking over the ho Chi Min trail during the Vietnam war and he turned them down.
I have read that we did do that to decisive impact.
The effect of solar radiation has more impact on the planet than we were taught.
The sun is coming out of a low phase of its cycle. This means the solar wind is weaker, enabling the jet streams to become more “wobbly,” which contributes to polar vortexes.
The southern hemisphere had a tough winter and is having a cooler wetter summer this season. The southern hemisphere precedes the northern hemisphere.
There are additional complexities adding to planetary weather.
From what I am reading, what we are currently experiencing is similar to solar cycle 21 (’76-86.)
The political AGW cannot compete with the physical solar cycle and its effects upon the planet.
I have been following this site and learning more about planetary weather. The author offers more information for consideration: https://electroverse.co/
Lowest ever recorded temperature in Virginia was -30 ○F January 21, 1985, in that same cycle you mention. That was in the mountains. The low at the fall line was -4. Stats are from an almanac site.
Merry Christmas Telly,
I do not want to assume where your faith lies, but check out what the Lord says in Genesis 8:22 “While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.”
As powerful as those in charge think they are I think the Lord is more. I don’t put it past them to try and control the weather (after all they want to control everything else), but they can only do so if God lets them.
Dane Wigington at GeoEngineeringWatch.org is a VERY CREDIBLE source.
I learn so much from that site.
He records a podcast every week and it’s on his web site on Saturdays (it’s also broadcast in the Northern Calif region each Sat) .
His new movie, “The Dimming” is very educational and free to watch.
There are many other videos, such as “Why are they spraying?” and “What are they spraying?”
He got into this a number of years ago because he suddenly could no longer grow anything in his organic garden; saw overhead spraying; did soils testing and was astounded with the toxins found in his Mount Shasta yard.
It’s all manufactured and they are probably sitting there shutting the power off in hopes of killing more Americans.
Same with the hurricanes. I was part of a three-way atmospheric physics chat that spanned several years beginning in the early illegitimate obama era. One of the other gents , with a minor depression off the N coast of Africa, noted an anomaly over a small area of Delaware and stated the system would be drawn to that marker (not high/low pressure) from thousands of miles away more than a week later. Surreal, the center of what became a minor obumma election day storm was ten miles from his marker. Some years later he noted another anomaly off Japan, said Hey, Check this Something’s Going to Happen Here. Two or three days later Fukushima hit that point. Don’t know what happened to that individual but he never joined our discussions again, and dropped completely; emails, calls, nothing. Disappeared.
Surreal…
I think the whole rolling power outages gig was planned for this year, this month. Regardless of weather. I think it’s one tactic in getting people accustomed to generalized scarcity and a lowered standard of living. They already have parents used to limits on buying food food their newborns. Radical feminists have made girls fearful of having children and thinking men are dangerous. Once the middle class is broken the ties to capitalism can more easily be severed. But it’s just weather now.
In a man-made disaster.
The WEF and the U.N. know that they’re not going to meet their de-population goal of reducing the worlds population by 50%, even with the killer clot shots that they’ve been pushing on the herd. Hence, in the name of Global Warming, hundreds of thousands of useless eaters need to freeze this winter! Thanks, Mr. Gates and Mr. Schwab …
Its not the world.
How many African or ME or Asian countries is this being done to?
But the complient and continuously woke NFL has electricity to use lights and scoreboards at their stadiums?
49ers only give up 15 points per game…
They play lights out defense 🙂
Called my friends in Georgia today to make sure they were staying warm. They said it was very cold there but they and their house are fine as there had been no power outages. They did say they have something called a buddy heater and had no idea what that was so looked it up.
Apparently it is a small portable heater run on propane that is good for use indoors as well as its usual use for outdoors for camping and such; found this review by Bob Villa so thought to share as it might be a practical backup for those in rolling-blackout areas. It apparently sells at both Home Depot and Lowes. Not sure if the 1 lb propane canisters can be refilled, but it also can be connected safely to a 20 lb propane tank, according to the article.
So went and looked at the Home Depot site and there is also a 2 canister indoor/outdoor unit that covers for a longer timeframe. Something like that might work to keep one room in a house warm in an emergency.
Stay safe out there! and Merry Christmas.
https://www.bobvila.com/articles/mr-heater-buddy-review/
in the article I clicked the link for Mr. Heater and it brought up an Amazon page, there is an adaptor that can refill the 1lb canisters from a 20 lb propane tank, so that was interesting.
here is that link from within the article:
I have that heater and run it in my greenhouse during rolling blackouts. I use electric heaters otherwise. Works well, but canisters with the heater on full blast only last about 2.5 hours for me.
900 W electric is giving me a 10 degree temp rise on a 10x14ft tunnel down here in FL. 34 degrees outside. That will pick up about 4-6 degrees when the banks of 5,000 lumen low power LED grow light strips kick on in a few minutes. Even better if the sun breaks through.
I can run all of that off a solar/battery/DC-AC system in the nearby shed for a while if need be. Not that long, though.
I found the same thing on the propane use last year with a catalytic heater…too much fuel.
” there is an adaptor that can refill the 1lb canisters from a 20 lb propane tank”
I bought one of those and it did not work well for us. The problem is that you have to vent the 1lb canister to make room for the incoming liquid. The vent valve is small ( and not intended to be opened/closed so they star to leak. Out of 3 cannisters, only 1 still holds propane.
You can refill the small tanks, but it is against the law to transport a refilled tank. I offer this information for people who are unfamiliar with the restrictions on the small tanks.
If you have the Big Buddy Mr. Heater you can attach a 20 lb tank to it, but you need a special hose. Starting the heater with that setup is more troublesome.
The easiest method is to have the small tanks and refill them, but not transport the small tanks.
I found that the work around starting on 20 lb tank is to keep the ignite knob depressed for over a minute so gas flow reaches the heater. Then press to ignite. It takes a fair amount of time for the gas to fill the auxiliary line connected to the tank. I used to use this system for heating my boat so I know where you are coming from.
Yes, the directions on the propane heater which was a wall mount model in my travel trailer said to press the ignite knob (I think) for 45 seconds.
Same situation with gas logs in a fireplace.
It is only against the law to transport 100 gallons or more propane in a passenger vehicle. Small tanks are fine to transport as long as they are upright and in an open area such as a truck bed.
I owned a small gas company several years ago.
Everybody transports 20 # propane tanks in their cars in Florida every year for their grills.
no special hose needed.
1# hahaha Backup uses 15# in 12 hours. 35,000+ BTU/hr.
Wood with oil supplement takes electric for air circulation so country living takes 200# propane backup. The final backup is the tractor and a power inverter to run the air circulation on the oil and wood burners.
The upstairs is the refrigerator and back porch the freezer.😁
sDee, when refilling the 1lb bottles with a nurse valve/refiller on the upside down 20lb, try putting the 1lb bottles in the freezer overnight before filling. Leave the vent valve alone. Get set up, pull bottles from freezer immediately before refilling.
Bear in mind that all UNvented space heaters, from the little one shown in the above comment to the larger floor units sold by propane suppliers, require the user to provide a fresh air supply. In other words, you have to open a window in your home, releasing that just-generated heat, in order not to suffer oxygen depletion followed by CO poisoning. This warning also applies to UNvented gas fireplace logs.
If you plan to use a propane space heater in your home, please invest in a $20 oxygen level reader / CO detector first.
A friend of ours solved that problem by cutting a board that would fit into his windows (slightly opened), drilled a circular hole in it and attached a metal fitting and a flexible hose which he ran to the heater. He could thereby pull in the oxygen that the heater needed without letting the heat in the house escape. So far as I know, it worked.
Unvented gas logs have an “oxygen depletion sensor” that turns off the unit if the air quality degrades. That doesn’t mean you don’t need make up air, but unless your house is very tight (a super insulated enerystar…)
, you should not need to open a window
Yes, I bought one from Amazon because I have a 20 # tank for the grill and I have a baby camper stove that runs on a 1# tank. Have not tried it yet. Have two single pound canisters and two twenty pound tanks.
I got a couple of those for the pump house and green house. they work good. also have 6- 20lb cylinders for them. when the power goes out, and it does often, its up to YOU to be prepared. Don’t bitch about the companies, goober mint, and elites, just prepare in advance.
These adapter hoses will let you hook up portable propane appliances like the Buddy Heater to a 20lb (grill size) or 30lb (RV size) propane tank. You can find them at most hardware and RV store.
https://www.etrailer.com/Propane-Fittings/MB-Sturgis/100914-120-MBS.html
1 lb canisters do not last long and are very expensive.
I like these heaters better for backup and portable heat – they clamp right onto a 20lb propane tank.
https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/master-propane-360-tank-top-heater-40-000-btu-mh-360a-ttc?cm_vc=-10005
Tip: if you use 20 lb tanks get two so you can keep the heater running when the other is being filled. Also, avoid propane tank exchanges – they are expensive and only put 15lbs in. Find a place that refills your tank with full 20lbs.
sDee, good advice. I have the 20lb tank and hose adapter. Sometimes I have a lot of trouble starting it, so I test the heater with a smaller tank, which always seems to work. Then I hook the hose up to the 20 lb tank and push some propane through it and only then hook it to the heater. After going through that step, lighting the heater is easier for me.
I’m just speaking as an amateur. I only have to light the stove a few times a year.
yes, sounds like that heater might not have an overide button to purge the air in the hose.
Virginia has a law or regulation limiting the tanks to 15LB fill, so they dont vent if it gets really hot out.
If you store 20LB tanks where it get below 10F, it is a really good idea to put a brass plug in it so there is no leakage when the seals get brittle.
I also put brass caps with seals on all my 1LB tanks, which I store inside, so I dont have to worry about a tank leaking.
now THERE’S a man who knows his propane
“propane and propane accessories”
Rest assured that Hank Hill does not wear $600 jeans, or $1265 boots.
I have a big buddy and a little buddy.. suggest you get the adapters to run th either of them off the 20 gallon tank
Dont forget to use a fuel filter too. Oil can leach from the rubber hose. I also recommend diesel heater. Use one for my RV and with an ac adaptor can easily blow into a home window.
We are near Dulles Airport in Virginia. Yesterday, we lost power from 3PM to 9AM this morning.
I put one of my Mr. Heater MH-58s in the center of our house (4ksqft) and ran it on high (18KBTU) until I went to sleep. With 8F outside, it kept the whole house about 70F, and used 6x 1LB tanks in 14 hrs
At 5AM, I moved it into the master bedroom and set it to low (4.5KBTU), but left all the interior doors open.
At 9AM, when the power came on, the bedroom was 75F and the furtherst corner of the basement was over 60F.
I swear by those heaters! Many times I have had them shut down from low oxygen while working on the greenhouses, and I never died from it.
I have the 20LB tank adapter hoses, but would never bring them in the house. I only used 1LB tanks inside. This weekend, I will refill the tank I used from a 20LB tank.
I rate those two heaters, my 4x 20LB and 16x 1LB tanks near the very top of my essential preps list.
You want the big one with the hose to connect to a tank from the grill because it will pay for itself within two months of using the furnace.
Those heaters also do not give off carbon monoxide when using them indoors and I’ve seen them used in campers along with carbon monoxide detectors without any readings
There is a common misunderstanding about propane heater safety. Warning is best provided by an oxygen depletion detector . By the time a propane heater starts producing carbon monoxide (CO) things have gotten very bad.
The only difference between indoor (vent-free) propane heaters and outdoor (vented) heaters is the inclusion of an oxygen depletion sensor on the indoor models.
Both indoor and outdoor propane heaters produce the same two things CO2 (carbon dioxide) and H2O (water vapor). Both indoor and outdoor heaters can produce carbon monoxide (CO) but only when the flame runs out of oxygen.
“Indoor” or vent-free models include an oxygen depletion sensor. This sensor shuts off the heater when oxygen levels get low – long before any CO is produced.
Complete Combustion
C3H8 + 5 O2 → 3 CO2 + 4 H2O + Heat
Incomplete Combustion
2 C3H8 + 9 O2 → 4 CO2 + 2 CO + 8 H2O + Heat
It seems to me that a low oxygens sensor or two would be more useful that the 7 CO sensors the building code made me install
Its my understanding that the indoor heaters are catalyctic, and just like catalyctic converters, they have a catalyst in the ceramic burner, that insures complete combustion of the fuel, so no they don’t produce carbon monoxide, which is what is the “unburned” fuel.
damn – I am supremely impressed with the depth of propane and heater expertise here at the Treehouse
my commendation to all
my knowledge is miniscule in comparison
by way of explanation: I’ve lived in Honolulu some 45 years now
my propane expertise extends as far as steaks on the barbecue grill
(press with your finger to estimate “done-ness”)
Merry Christmas from frozen New England Nimrodman!
Very useful – and accurate – info. Thank you, sDee. And a Merry Christmas to you!
Thank you for the more thorough explanation.
A 25k BTU propane heater is fine indoors. Particularly as supplemental heat. You can even throw the tank outside and run the hose into the house. The entire risk of poisoning comes from continually running it, combined with a mild leak. I bought a detector years ago because everyone warned me that using an “outdoor” propane heater inside was deadly. That monitor sits at zero after running the heat for hours. Meanwhile, stick it under my ATV and it goes off in a couple of seconds.
The big risk when the power is out is humidity. You can ideally run a dehumidifier and propane heater at the same time because it throws a lot of moisture in the air. But if the power is out… you just have to run the propane.
I have a heat pump, kerosene heater, and propane heater. Best to have backups for situations like this. Generators fail every third time you need it, so they’re horrible to rely on. Convenient if you’re lucky. But get a small one because any generator bought new in 2022 is unreliable.
Why are genies bought in 2022 unreliable?
Zero degrees at dawn 12/24, NE GA mountains. Eleven degrees this fine sunny Christmas morning. Back up to 50 degrees by week’s end.
TVA “rolled” 15 minute blackouts across their entire service region yesterday morning. They did give advance notice, FWIW. Good practice for when we become the Appalachia of Venezuela, in the near future.
we are finally over zero for a while…we just might hit the teens YEA>
I have one of these I use sometimes when I tent camp in cold weather. These are not made to use indoors. They deplete the oxygen.
Last year, we installed a Duromax generator that can run the whole house if we want to. Our house is totally electric. The generator runs on gasoline and propane. You will need an electrician to do the connections from the outside to the electrical panel. It is worth it and safe. The new Duromax model runs on gasoline, propane and diesel.
When I started out in my 17 foot trailer to explore the West, I had a propane heater (not Mr. Buddy brand) mounted to the inside wall with a line to the 20 lb propane tanks mounted at the hitch. ( I didn’t want the factory supplied heater for my Casita trailer because of noise.)
For 7 winters that little heater kept me warm as I dodged severe cold weather. No doubt it would make a room in a house very comfortable.
Brought to you by Joe Bribem and his supporters.
I use modern heat pumps ( about 6 years old now), amazingly efficient until the temps get below 15 degrees. I have been a “prepper” for years and food security is not an issue. I have wood fired back up heat that takes up the slack when it is really cold, plus several kerosene heaters and a Mr. Buddy propane heater for real emergencies. I have a small solar system with battery storage that can power circulating fans and refrig/ freezer for several days and alternate water supply ( rain water catchment supplemented storage) with 12 volt pump. But with kerosene at $7 gallon and propane comparably high I am still “over a barrel” so to speak. I also have a 6.5kw gasoline powered generator as a last line of defense, but I can only store about 30 gallons of gas at present. I am in a semi rural area with enough property to have a never ending supply of firewood, but at 75 tears old that is beginning to be a bit of a challenge…physically. In the future I can see firewood burning prohibitions coming. I keep my heat at 69 (cold and old do not mix well) and in the summer, the air at 72. My home is 3500 sf, about 3 times what I really need, but it is paid for and solid as a rock. This is my Alamo, my last and final redoubt, it is here that I will “make my stand”.
Well done! I finished building our country home about 2 years ago and used a Bosch inverter heatpump. It is incredibly efficient especially managing heat and humidity here in the south. Summer or winter we stay below $200/month. Last night was our first cold snap (6 degrees) and it kept up fine. Propane gas log for heat backup and a 15kw propane generator for power backup.
Our neighbor is 80 yo and still sawing and spitting wood as his primary heat source. Local folk bring him logs. I envy his self sufficiency.
Our mum is 84 on Jan 1.
She lives alone on 14 acres and has a wood furnace.
She uses a hydraulic splitter, stacks, and hauls her on wood.
These last few days the overnight temperatures at her place hit -20 C
A neighbour plowed her driveway today so she could get her 1/2 ton 1997 Chev 4×4 out.
She will never get vaxxed and her biggest concern is her animals and getting seed into the bird feeders.
Though I only moved out here to about 6 years ago, I now understand.
Is your mum willing to adopt..? I’m fully grown so are both my children with their own homes and wokester lifestyles.. will bring chickens a willingness to work and my own income
her “Indian” name is
“Dances With Lumber”
LOL!
Give Mum a kiss for me, Deke. 🙂
God bless your Mum, Dekester!
That is awesome Dekester! She makes me feel like a real wimp. If she can do stuff like that at her age, so can I! She sounds really tough and gives me hope!
I executed my plan 4 years ago and bought a farm in Florida. I only have about 10 days a year that I need heat, on average. This cold snap will last 4 days for me, and then we’re back to 68-70 deg days. My house is masonry, so if it’s a sunny day the heat hardly comes on overnight.
I have a propane generator but will definitely add a propane heater as a good last resort backup. They’re cheap enough.
Thanks for all the info! CTH is the best. Merry Christmas all!
I’m trying to talk my husband into selling all our PA real estate and buying 5 to 10 acres near Ocala, FL..We just turned 67 this year..he loves to garden and I love animals. I’d like to get something with a few horse stalls and an RV hookup for rent. He thinks I’m nuts..
There are more of us older preppers than people might think, who feel as you do.
san fransisco has banned burning wood thru this weekend.its coming climate change don’t ya know!
I have a heat pump and can’t use it after temp drops below 32°. (I’m living in one or two rooms now using the propane heater)
I read why this machine/heat pump used $10 worth of electricity when that happens.
The air is taken in from outdoors to make warm air to distribute to inside rooms.
That caused a second motor to kick in and heat that air….why the first rush is cold air coming from the vents…and, yes, I have seen the thermometer go from 70 to 68 in minutes when this happens.
I have tested this method and can testify the warming of this outside air takes many minutes…like 15!!!!
I meant to type $10 an hour!!!
We are staying in our Ocala FL guest house(converted 800 sq ft garage)..we found out last night from the HVAC guys that we do not have a heat pump..we have an AC Unit with an auxiliary heating unit..like having a space heater in an ac unit..we messed up the thermostat and couldn’t get it to kick on. He said they are very popular in FL..the main house and our other two houses have electric heat pumps. Our PA 30’s four square has hot water heat..furnace was put in in 1964 and works great.
If the electricity stays off long enough, I may be getting what I want for Christmas. Frozen, broken pipes in Washington DC.
No matter what happens to them they will never admit they were wrong. Individually there may be an epiphany or two but Communists never admit they are wrong.
One thing D.C. shares with large swaths of the FSU from the Communist days is steam heat. From seeing the steam leaks all over town, I believe the system is pretty substantial for the big buildings.
Now, power can go out but if the steam plant is designed right, it’ll make its own power because, well, steam turbines running generators. Usually steam is made by burning natural gas.
It’ll certainly be cold enough for it tonight and tomorrow. However, if the buildings are heated with steam, they probably won’t get hit with freezing. Homes, OTOH, perhaps.
Battling Agenda 21 in local governments, it was clear that urbanization was central to population control. The “experts” sent in via federal grants, always started out telling local regional governments that the needed to “invest” in central plants, for heated/chilled steam/liquid distribution.
These always were prioritized in the plans for the high density corporate and luxury housing sections.
As you say, the intent was to let what they term “suburban sprawl” ( suburban and rural single family) rot away.
letting electric-grid power to fail – thereby plunging electric-heated homes into heatless freezers during below-freezing blizzards – is a pretty good tactic for accomplishing that
I reckon
Even natural gas furnaces need electricity to spark the flame. None have pilot lights any more. So even ng furnaces won’t work without a power source.
When I was in the FSU I rented apartments in those monoliths we often connect with Communism, big ugly concrete apartment buildings, and apparently the steam heat was free because the landlords told me to leave it alone and simply open windows to regulate room temperature.
In the winter, the refrigerator was the ledge outside a window in the snow. I hung my laundry to dry on paracord over the steam radiators. Interesting life.
Apparently, when Communism ended, the people I talked to got their apartments in those monoliths for free. The stairwells were nasty and the elevators often didn’t work even when there was power. That was 25-30 years ago so things likely have changed. Still, I remember the ‘free’ steam that couldn’t be shut off.
Dunes what is the FSU? Florida State University?
FSU ->Former Soviet Union. My time there was mostly in Ukraine but some in Russia. Communism was the tip-off. However, we have Communism here now so , meh.
Sadly from frying pan into the fire?
Centrally-made and distrubuted steam heat: It is still employed in the Oakland region of Pittsburgh PA. Supplies steam heat to the Carnegie Library and (ironically) to the older buildings on the Carnegie-Mellon University campus, where the next generation of high-tech controllers is being bred and educated.
Yep..we have two Pittsburgh houses with hot water heat. I asked the Fl HVAC Tech if he knew how to work on a boiler and he said no way!!!
I had the water running all day and still have a busted pipe inside the tub/wall.
Gene,my late husband bought insulators for the pipes under the house and discovered the pipes are nailed/tacked to a 8″ floor joist.
I have exposed copper pipe under the house in Oregon and we get freezing temps, though not down to zero like the current snap going around.
I use insulation with heat tape inside it. Power is pretty reliable and I can see online even if not home when the heat tapes go on since there are so many of them. The pump house by the creek is heat taped too.
However, that’s no good in a power outage. Fortunately I’m home most of the time. What I do is switch to emergency water and de-pressurize the system and shut the pump off for the duration of the outage if temps are low.
So far, the multi-layer approach has worked well. Heat tapes and insulation aren’t terribly expensive and tapes can run from an extension cord in a pinch. Metal pipes and the water will conduct the heat into wall and floor cavities.
It’s normal to find pipes hung from or attached to framing members. Methods vary by code, location and pipe type. Good luck!
My pipes froze in one bathroom of my airbnb..contractor said the hard wired heat tape was glued and fell off the pipes..He likes the pipes to be secured. He’s going to re wrap and secure the pipes..put more insulation in.
We are all Californians now.
turn every appliance on and crash the grid. Government policies are responsible for an unreliable very expensive power grid. Crash it instead of being accomplices to bad policy. It won’t change direction without a demonstration of the corruption and incompetence. This is a protest the abused citizens can make.
accelerate now
be the accelerant
That will kill some people.
We’ve faired well here in north central Mississippi. Power was on and off early this morning only. Our AT&T internet has been down though since around 1 this afternoon. They expect to be down until 4 am. Our daughter’s large house is struggling to keep up the heat. Something with her heaters is inefficient. We’re still going over tomorrow bundled up if necessary. Not keeping us from being together and enjoying Christmas.
Merry Christmas to y’all here in the Treehouse. The Lord bless and keep you.
Use your phone instead of your PC when the internet goes down. The 4G / 5G network rarely stumbles, and your phone will browse at near-normal speeds on the phone company’s network. (This is also a good way to get around in-house “browser security filters”).
I’m a little confused here (I speak rhetorically), they want us to be dependent on electrical power and then they make an effort to make it unreliable?
They want us dependent on them for rationed energy. They need to make local independent power expensive and unreliable so they can seize regulatory control of it and us.
Kinda like Obamacare. Never let a good crisis go to waste. Create one when necessary.
I think I got it now (I speak facetiously) the government inhabited by power hungry individuals has a vision of unchallenged control (nice terminology for tyranny) but needs to create crises’ to implement a “solution”.
Nice rules. Is that you Saul?
“Funny, that”
the Brits would say
Yes, villanizing law enforcement and then stating the federal govt needs to have a federal national police force. This is the slow destruction of life as we used to know it.
That is all part of the plan.
I’m in eastern Pa and heat with living room wood stove and oil furnace. Two things I love about wood heat is getting inside the 95F+ corpuscle of heat produced immediately around the stove and the cognitive dissonance liberals experience trying to figure out if it is carbon neutral or not.
Living in the sticks at the end of the power grid in the Sierra foothills we were among the last to get power restored. Then living at 7000 ft sometimes we wouldn’t get power for days when major storms hit the Sierra. We learned to prep. Now we are in our 70s, live in Arizona, near a year round perennial creek. We have a 5500 watt gas generator for the well. 550 gallons of water stored. We have a whole house 10 kw propane fired standby generator and a 2500 watt bottle propane fired portable generator and keep 20 gas of propane at all times. Enough food for 6 or 7 months. Rammed earth house and lots of ammo.
Get ready. A hard rains gonna fall.
BLESS YOU FOLKS, and MAY GOD SMILE On YOU
Yes, what city dwellers might call ‘prepping and survival’, rural and mountain folks call normal life. Living rural for many decades, I’ve been used to it.
I did give up the big diesel generator a decade or so ago since I used it so rarely. Picked up a 10Kw PTO gen head for the tractor instead. A lot less to maintain. Oddly, where I live now power is super reliable, in all places the forest, and dirt cheap from Columbia River hydro.
Still, the ‘prepper’ lifestyle remains. Merry Christmas to you and yours. 🙂
Why are YOU being asked to use less on Christmas, and why not the billionaires and multi-national corporations who are wasting electricity lighting up empty stadiums and skyscrapers? Demand they follow their own rules. Start demanding they turn the lights off on all of the government buildings and tax-payer funded sports stadiums. Shame the corporations into turning the lights off of their skyscrapers. It’s like COVID all over again where YOU are expected to follow their dictats while they don’t have to.
Notice that energy rationing is never a solution the elites come up with?
y’all snuggle up in this cold weather, y’hear?
❤️
It seems the journalists that Elon Musk chose to present the twitter files are having their own eyes opened. Michael Shellenberger did a twitter thread on the lack of energy to heat homes, including the journalists pretending to be experts and not knowing what they are talking about:
It looks like this guy has been on to the sustainable development and climate change scams for a while. Also is very critical of the self destruction of major cities. It seems what he’s been pushing is a nuclear powered energy system combined with urbanization to curtail the use of oil and gas. He promotes “clean tech”.
Seems pragmatic. But here we go, another wealthy elitist telling me I need to live in an apartment and use public transit while they enjoy mansions and private jets.
MIRACLE ON 1600 AVE. AN ORIGINAL STORY BY CAPTAIN CONVEY.

STORYLINE
Before the 2020 campaign for President the demented actor playing joe biden is discovered to be deranged by Donald Trump and his supporters.
Trump’s wife persuades him to run for President along with others.
Trump proves to be a sensation and is quickly nominated as candidate for president in 2020.
After Trump’s nomination the FBI/CIA work in the background to derail Trump’s campaign.
The FBI/CIA are confident their social media manipulation will render Trump harmless.
Despite the CIA/FBI fake polls that reassurre the deep state that Trump is harmless, the deepstate has misgivings, especially when Thousands of people show up at Trump rally’s.
The CIA/FBI all the while has cynically been training the American public to reject all notiions that he can win in 2020.
An yet, the American people, along with operatives in the FBA/CIA begin to notice there is something special about Trump and his determination to advance America and make it great again.
When a cruelly incompetent cabal operative, hillary clinton, contracts to have a fake narrative published, the CIA/FBI goes into action and bugs Trump campaign headquarters where Trump suspects he is being bugged by the democrats.
A raucous campaign ensues as the cruelly incompotent hillary clinton erupts and declairs, “This is my country.” “I don’t know a tweet from a twat”.
Trump finds himself being the victim of FBI/CIA social media manipulation and spying on his campaign.
His commitment to make America great again increases under the assult.
Under assult his almost superhuman efforts continue.
When after the Nov 2020 election all seems lost Rudy Giuliani agrees to represent Trump to fight the democratic/FBI/CIA onslaught.
Rudy Giuliani arranges several formal hearings in which he argues Trump has been the victim of election fraud perpetrated by the FBI/CIA/Hillary Clinton, democrate cabal.
What ensues are bizarre hearing questions that Rudy Giuliani and his legal team answer with surgical precision.
The stolen 2020 election was refuted including document election fraud examples.
Even so the electorial college vote in several states was sent to congress to be counted in spite of the fact many were not valid electorial votes.
VP mike pence could have made a difference in the electorial counting if he had not already been bought off by the Uniparty in dc.
It was going to take a miracle in 2020 for Trump to win reelection. A miracle didn’t happen then.
It could happen in 2024.
Now because of the twitter documentation and FBI malfeasance disclosures hopefully a miracle will occur in 2024.

17 Clay Pot Heaters-An Inexpensive Way To Warm Your Room
https://theselfsufficientliving.com/clay-pot-heaters-an-inexpensive-way-to-warm-your-room/
This method is misinformation or I am too stupid to make it work.
I did this in a 9 X 8 bathroom and it didn’t make a difference ….about 3or 4 hours, no change.
I’m studying the various youtube videos and different versions, and many people are happy with them. There are important aspects like the radiant inner pot, the convection between two pots, enhanced heat transfer using pennies, etc.
What I would like to work out is an arrangement with a significant mass of ceramic material with two or more layers using a propane Heat Buddy on a low setting as the heat source rather than candles.
A BTU is a BTU, but if you can keep it from rising to the ceiling, and retain it as radiant heat in ceramic, you buy yourself a lot of time.
Thank you so very much! I am sending this everywhere.
Happy and Holy Christmas to all our cold American Treepers from mild Scotland.
My wonderful ex fiance of 55 years ago, just got me George Orwell’s 1984 for Christmas.
On page 1 Winston is climbing up seven flights to his flat.
“It was no use trying the lift …..at present the electric current was cut off during daylight hours ….”
Now I wonder where we have seen this before????
God bless America we need you in our hour of need.
Joe Biden: the Grinch who stole Christmas.
In Ireland, the government forbids you from putting a chimney or fireplace into any new house construction. Why would that be? It is obvious that they want to prevent you from heat, other than what they will provide for you through costly fossil fuels or gas, or using solid fuel stoves that would need a chimney in order to operate. People are getting around this, by putting (unsightly) metal flues from their homes, to take the place of chimneys. However, the intent of the government is obvious.
Still Winning
I’d love to see the power consumption down here and the Nat Gas burning at the FPL plant on the east coast…It’s unusually cold down here for this early in the season. Solar farm supplemental (and the rooftop homeowner panels) ain’t gonna get this one, baby.
FPL kicking butt on the grid, as usual.
We ain’t seen our bill for this month..
I have lived in FL for many years now, so I am spoiled. It feels arctic cold to me. This time of year is our lowest consumption, so I am not worried about this brief cold snap on our power bills.
I will bet my left tater that not one single member of Congress was rolled into a blackout.
Exactly! I’m curious as to how “our elite leader’s” homes and multiple locations will get a carve-out from the outages and brownouts? Do the power companies have the ability to isolate individual smart meters for exemption? Do they have a master list of “preferred customers”?
Same question for the predicted food and fuel shortages. How are they going to be supplied without the masses noticing?
Underground cities..
I too have wondered about that–even billionaires can’t get it when there is none of______ (fill in the blank).
But you voiced a possible—they built their own mini power plants???
I am heating one room, not because I don’t want to pay the cost of a heat pump usage, but because this may be the last propane for a while.
wise
Of course they will be able to isolate. That is the whole point if them.
they can do it by block and street but it takes a bit of manpower at the moment. Once these come in it will be per house and per device in each house for new devices.
You might not have noticed but new devices will be talking back to the meter.
Smart meters will be able to turn off individual appliances in your home and block those by type from drawing power.
Once they are rolled out unless you want to start rooting each appliance and your meter, you will have zero control over things in your home.
There were no rolling blackouts in Delaware. I live about 15 min. away from Biden’s Wilmington house.
Of course they do.
“Our Real Zero goal to eliminate carbon emissions from our operations is a real goal that would make a significant difference for our customers. We’re part of an industry that is well positioned to make the most progress in the elimination of carbon emissions and Real Zero is NextEra Energy’s goal to set a new standard for all power generators,” said John Ketchum, president and CEO of NextEra Energy.
Ketchum, by the way is a lawyer, who completed the Emerging CFO – Strategic Financial Leadership Program at Stanford University. The same university that just added the word “American” to their list of harmful language.
When the CEO of the largest electrical utility in the world is completely indoctrinated and “eaten up with the dumb-ass,” you know we are in for some very dark times. …Literally.
“Eaten up with the dumb-ass” I almost spit the last swallow of Medium Roast My Coffee(which is fantastic, BTW) on my battle weary laptop after I read that. Merry Christmas, PV.
They are not lying they just don’t use words to mean the same thing you do.
The significant difference is going to be poverty and rationing. Notice he did not mention it was going to be better .
Now, that’s amusing, you get my vote for comment of the week.
Just as the threat of blackouts came out of left field, so did the announcement that they don’t need to do them. Nobody in any media organization will have the balls to question any of this.
https://www.wdrb.com/news/rolling-blackouts-no-longer-expected-for-lg-e-and-ku-as-usage-declines/article_1f069bca-83cf-11ed-8cca-0fcad99857f4.html
Of course, our Federal Government buildings will be kept at the customary 80 degrees until summer, when they’ll be at 70 degrees.
Yep, I experienced the TVA’s wondering rolling black out here in the Middle TN area. It’s bad enough that my power bill is going to be through the roof! Last August or September I actually watched online my local electric utility (Middle TN Electric) have their annual meeting. Oh they were so excited to present all of their “new” and “wonderful” SUSTAINABLE power methods. I have never heard so much drivel from people. Their solar projects, EV station projects and what happens? They can’t even provide baseline power needs. TVA and their overpaid CEO should be fired and the whole Board of Directors for that now bloated federal agency. Once again, it is proven over and over again that these federal agencies are useless. But I doubt that anything will happen to them, it never does. The only time anyone saw the TVA held accountable was with President Trump. He called out the CEO for excessive earnings and I do believe he resigned. But the President doesn’t appoint the TVA CEO. It’s a commission of political hacks.
I woke up early Friday morning and it was a chilly -6 degrees. I live about 35 miles southwest of Nashville and have lived here for 17 years. Yes, it has gotten cold here but I know it’s never gotten into the negatives. I would love some globull warming but I’m afraid this is and will be a colder than usual winter. The power bills are going to be horrific.
There may some + 20
to 30 degree days forthcoming.
Get through the current weather event. Go small if need be
( heat a single room..blankets..etc )
These are similar conditions you hear about in Ukraine
So?
F**k Ukraine
nice
I live about 50 miles from an active Nuclear Power Plant here in PA. Our electric provider cut power without warning on Friday 12/23 for 10 hours and said it was storm damage. On their outage map online, however, the outages were not localized as they would be from tree falls. They were evenly spread throughout the State. Btw… This was the coldest day in 50 years!! Then on Christmas Eve they ‘asked’ everyone to set their Temps to 60, turn off Christmas lights, and not use our ovens.
https://propane.com/2022/07/22/about-that-propane-tank-at-the-obamas-estate-bwp/
I live in central Texas, monitored ERCOT every day for the last 4 days. We never got close to a system problem.
On the coldest day, we had over 11,000 megawatts of reserve power in the system. Normally, we have about 5,000 MW.
The usage curve was always under the predictions.
https://www.ercot.com/gridmktinfo/dashboards
Say thank you to reliables (coal, gas and nuclear). Late yesterday wind was providing less than 1,000MW out of an installed capacity of over 36,000MW. Reliables were producing over 95% of all power. The less than 1,000 MW of wind is common when demand is high, whether it is summer or winter. Unless we add more reliable sources to our grid, things will only get less reliable in the future.
The only man-made disaster I see is the one in the WH and I hope his power or gas was turned off like ours was over the last few days. I have so many words for his ignorance I can’t put them into print….
To the useless eaters from the elites: Have a Merry Christmas; THIS is your new normal.
To all the branch dwellers here: God love you and enjoy all He has given us, this and every day, His Son for our salvation. Merry Christmas!
I just broke 34 in NW Central Florida. I am grateful for this cold snap as I have been able to identify which doors are in dire need of re sealing. They all appear to be in decent condition but two of them were letting in so much cold air it would boggle the mind. I just put some blue painters tape around the entire interior perimeters of both back doors. The sliding glass door also leaves something to be desired when it comes to energy transfer.
Maybe Santa will bring yiu people some brains and you stop voting for idiot Democraps
Now now….as we all know it’s not the voting that’s the problem, it’s who does the counting.
I truly expected Antifa to put high power rifle rounds through key transformers during the storm. Looks like they’re waiting for a more opportune time.
Power=Power. They do not want us to have Power.
Reliables over renewables…
I got a message from Duke Energy here in NC telling their customers not to use any unnecessary electric devices as we are using too much electricity. Isn’t that their sole purpose? To provide electricity to its customers? It has bee in the single figures here for a couple of days and as you can imagine most people have no idea how to keep their pipes from freezing; one person told me their furnace froze?
I am sorry God but I gave that message the bird.
trickle drip keep pipes from freezing up to a point
IF anyone freezes to death because of these so-called “rolling blackouts” then all parties complicit in these tactics are GUILTY of 1st degree MURDER.
There is ABSOULTLY no reason to have insufficient power in America.
Power Outages due to downed lines or equipment failure are understandable, but not having sufficient GENERATING capacity is inexcusable.
All part of the wrath of God because people celebrate Christmas, a holiday He hates. https://www.thepathoftruth.com/falsehood-exposed/diabolical-doctrines/christmas.htm
I lived in the irrigated desert for about 60 years. 100-120 in summer, very low humidity.
For years we used three things before HVAC became common…
Shade trees
Masonry mass
Swamp coolers
The only one that takes power is the swamp cooler and they run pretty low wattage, acceptable for a solar/inverter/battery system if power is out.
My first house had only a swamp cooler and it worked fine nearly all the time except for the hottest days and I finally invested in a small window AC for my bedroom to make sleeping more comfortable. Those also are pretty thrifty power users these days, 1000-1500W.
Lots of options. It is easier to live where the weather is moderate and that’s what I chose when retiring. Hot day is 70, cold night is 40, rarely sees freezing, and ocean breezes are plentiful.
I’m not wealthy and my little place in the woods cost about as much as a nice Tesla. Simple life. Easy to be poor.
meanwhile, the DC area is served by SIX nuclear power plants…
Our power here in Chester Co. PA went out as the “bomb” rolled through Friday am about 930 am. First energy’s website said power would be restored by 230 pm. Didn’t happen. Checked again and it said power back by Monday 11 pm – more than 3 days later. No sign of crews working on wires, and the temps hovered in low single digits. We were lucky enough to have a generator, but with not enough propane to make it till Monday had to pay big bucks for an emergency delivery. It is 1049 pm Christmas Day and still no power. No crews working.

The woke, liberal state lawmakers that run Illinois, who are mostly from the Chicago area, stupidly want to close all of the coal power plants in Illinois.
Illinois has never had problems with providing adequate electricity in extremely cold winter weather like Texas recently has, but Illinois will likely start having these problems once all of the coal power plants are closed.
I realize that Illinois is part of a greater, multi-state power grid, unlike most of Texas, which is its own power grid, but why would those other states want to give their limited power in an extreme winter weather situation to Illinois which willingly and stupidly closed its own coal power plants.
It isn’t just Boomers and Gen Xers that oppose this stupid wokery. I’m a 40-year-old Millennial who is a lifelong grassroot conservative and I hate it too.
I’m not aware of any rolling blackouts in the Springfield or St. Louis Metro East regions of Illinois, which are the areas of Illinois that I have family in and live in.
