Time Magazine has decreed their oft coveted “Person of The Year” award to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the world’s richest man as delivered by congress via U.S. taxpayers.
The actor-turned-president was bestowed the honor during an announcement on Wednesday by Time Magazine Editor-in-Chief Edward Felsenthal on the TODAY show.
The media outlet credits Zelenskyy’s courage, leadership and magnanimous stewardship of Ukraine’s defense, as well as victory in framing the international public image of the embattled nation.

In 1937 Times person of the year was Madam Chiang Kai Shek and her husband Generalissimo Chiang Kai Shek.
By the end of WW2 the couple, along with their extended family (e.g. TV Song, HH Kong) were probably the richest family in the world.
They did not get the opportunity to steal US aid until 1940, when FDR authorized it, but while waiting they stole virtually all of the gold, much of the treasure (eventually held at the Taipei National Palace Museum) and anything else they wanted.
They had to share some of the loot with the invading Japanese, but the two sides came to an agreement on the spoils early on. Chiang Kai Shek got on well with the Japanese . He had attended their West Point and had served their army.
For her part, Mrs. Chiang had attended Wellesly , spoke fluent English (she addressed Congress) and had the powerful support of Claire Booth Luce (Time Magazine).
The Chiang family strategy was to let the Americans fight the Japanese, pilfer all they could, and save their army for the coming war with the communists.
In the end, President Truman cut off the money spigot, and the Chiangs and their wealthy associates fled to Taiwan, along with numbers of soldiers, and anyone else who had the money or connections to get out.
They (Chiangs and pals) immediately begin taking over everything the Japanese had left in newly-liberated Taiwan. The locals understandably resented it, leading to 2-2-8 when the General’s soldiers turned the machine guns on Taiwanese civilians, slaughtering 20,000 or so.
