Before 2008 when Bay Area moved to Central Valley population exploded but the elections were won by the same rate. I’m retired and on a time of use meter through my electric co-op. The summer high use hours are from 3 to 7 p.m. I do cool the house up until 3 and run the AC for no more that 30 minutes during high use hours and then only on really hot days (feels like 106F today so it ran for 30 minutes). If people cool the house until 4 using a programmable thermostat, it’s going to be hot again by the time they get home at 5:30 or later.
Winter is easier. The high use hours are 6-9 a.m. so if it’s cold I say in bed!
The price difference in the cost of each kilowatt hour makes it worthwhile.

It is not uncommon for CA to have brownouts in the summer.
Newsome says CA is “on track for the highest Sept temps on record” which is a great “wafffle”. Hard to dispute “on track for.”
Areas of CA, AZ, NV actually had a slightly cooler than average August, so given the nature of “averages” some higher temps in Sept are not unexpected.

I live in the People’s Republic of Oregon, home of mail-in voting. For a long time I thought the state of Oregon ran its elections. But one year, not too long ago, the director of elections said something about how our system might not be completely safe from hacking, etc. He was immediately fired by the governor. Then, when I tried to look into our electronic voting, it was a very convoluted trail that I never quite figured out except that the state does not run its own elections.
We’ve been solid blue voting for all kinds of ridiculous stuff like sanctuary state since we stopped voting at precincts on Election Day with paper ballots. Coincidence? Maybe, but why would I give them the benefit of a doubt with all that has happened.

Just played Pebble Beach and Pasatiempo. Last week of June. It was perfect. Hot as hell here in central Texas. Carmel & Monterey Bay is paradise in the Summer. Probably wet and chilly in the winter. I understand why you stay. Your 250k house is now worth 1.5 mil. The food is delicious and the weather is divine. You put up with the politics because it’s a bit of a heaven on earth. I’m glad you can afford the property taxes and more. The ‘gubmint” will come after you first. (When the reset happens) my advice; come to a red state. Texas, California, Arizona, or more. Every morning I ride between 20-35 miles on bike lanes and paths, yesterday rode 52 miles. Majority of mornings are cool between 60-65 degrees climbing into the high seventy’s to mid 80’s in afternoon. All with less than 50% humidity.
My neighborhood is as diverse as it get and being being white, in the minority. Everybody gets along, although politics is refrained. I’ve been all across the country and sorry folks, CA is the best state in the Union. It has every terrain you could want, quite tolerant of silliness.
